Dollzone Baby BB 26cm discussion part 1

That's so sad about the discontinuation of Mika, Nyu, Hiro and Tengyuan. Thankfully I have all four of them! I just had a feeling they would be discontinued someday.

 

are choco and maca still ok? i'm still saving for one of them and don't have enough yet...

 

auntbear it's just the older sculpts in that size being discontinued - Their latest YOSD size seem to be safe for now!

kurogane you are lucky having all 4 of them! I stupidly bought duplicates LOL - so I have 3 Mika, although my son has stolen the pink one! And I have 2 Nyu - I stole the body from white Nyu for my miss kitty head, so her head is rolling around unwanted now poor thing! I think they are gorgeous sculpts - they look so different in different wigs too. Mine are awaiting glue sueding in their boxes at the moment - and they have no clothes yet either, but I'll get there eventually - I just ordered tan Mika's wig - he'll be blonde. I might put Miss Kitty's default wig on tan Nyu - not sure as she does look cute in an oversized YOSD one I have (you may remember the HUGE bushy wig my miss kitty wore last year?) I didn't think I'd like white Mika as I'm not crazy about white human dolls, but they are quite 'cartoony' and he is so darned cute I fell in love instantly, as I did with pink Nyu. I swapped out those strange clear eyes dz had put in the tan dolls too - they look much better with brown eyes now. I'll have to take some pics when I get them sueded and dressed!

 

I'm fortunately pretty set in my dolls right now so I'm not really needing anyone else. I do want another doll, but I can't find one I need to bring home if that makes any sense.

In other words, I took a few pictures of Lily this morning.

I just love her worried little face.

But they are discontinuing this sweet little guy (Mika)! How could they do such a thing....By the way he is wearing a dollzone wig for the tiny tinies in this pic - the 16cm dolls - they are nice and stretchy!

I'm so glad the 27 body are safe for now I like my Miss K on her 27 body, but love Lily on her DC body, so I thought I'd try switching her to Elsa's B-45 I think it is body for a change, but hit a problem withe S-hooks. Kitty has a tiny hook that would slide right through Elsa's body, and Elsa's hook is too big for Kitty's head. Any suggestions since I only want to try it out and don't want to make Kitty's opening bigger?

 

you could just bend a piece of wire back and forth to make a little bar, then slide it under the loop of the elastic to keep it from pulling through. keep miss kittys s hook there too so you can pull the elastic back up to remove the wire when you want to take the head off. if you end up liking it you could look for an s hook in between the two in size, for a more permanent solution

 

Thanks auntbear - that makes sense. I got so stumped when I saw how small Miss K's opening is. Now I need to find the wire - hopefully pics later

 

when I change the S-hooks on my dolls I find it easier to hold the doll between my knees, so I have 2 hands free - one to pull up the existing S-hook, and the other to slip a small screwdriver through the elastic to hold it while I swap the hooks over. A screwdriver (flat not cross-head) is good as it's tapered to a flat, but is round and strong further up nearer the handle.

Meanwhile - I tried a fatiao 6-7 wig on my Star - I don't think s/he is impressed LOL - the eyes are impldoll eyes, but I'm wondering if I might put some green ones in tomorrow....

 

What I did to put the MSD S-hook into Lily's tiny head was pull the strings as far out of the neck as I could and clip them with hemostats. Then I take out the s-hook, pull the strings through the head hole and put the s-hook back in.

I hope so too >~< I plan for mine to be on the boy body, but yes... me and Shailara have wanted these little ones ever since Dollzone released them (she's getting a Mika xD; ) and they're pretty important characters in their story so... OTL I was really hoping to keep to only three dolls this year (the plan was two before but Soom happened) but that doesn't seem to be an option anymore... >< At least I feel safe knowing that we can do layaway if need be though...

 

I've limited myself to one other doll this year - I really need to save for a car and buying dolls (and then proceeding to spoil them) is not helping!

 

hmmmm - I never thought of using all that money for something sensible like a car! oh well - it's too late now Must say I'm liking my dragons more now I've decided to treat them as pets, rather than anthros - I am not really into anthros, with the exception of miss kitty who is mainly human anyway. I am looking for a cute cage to keep my 2 pet dragons in now, but so far not found anything I like....good way to waste time though I like Star with that wig in the photo - so I want a blonde one similarly long for Moon. I had a bunch of alpaca guinea pigs years ago, with similar hair, so they kind of remind me of them! I wonder what dragons eat.......

MoC says they'll only be able to take orders for the discontinued dolls till the 31st of THIS month! GAH! I was kinda hoping to get a tan Ani as a four-year-old version of Yumeko, too >_>

 

Yumeko-chan the tan is a bit variable anyway, so she could turn out really dark or pale or different to your existing doll - you could maybe try yellow? Strange they're not taking orders beyond March as the discontinuation period doesn't even start till April! Maybe it's because you want tan - IF they have a discount (I'm not sure if that will be the case) it won't apply to tan dolls, so you have to order tan before the discontinuation period.

 

Oh IsabethS those photos are gorgeous! Yes, Miss Kitty is now on my list of dolls to buy!

 

Thank you! Just keep in mind mine is a hybrid and had to be modded in the neckhole to get the head to fit. She was adorable on her original body too though!

 

yes I love my kitty - although she did need glue sueding (as do all the 27cm dolls ideally) so I had to buy a glue gun and be brave! Her ears are very big and heavy for the size of her, so I tend to take them off when carrying her around, incase they fall off and break - But they stay on great when she's posed - the magnets are pretty strong - although I guess the type of wig makes a difference. I thought the neck hole very shallow indeed - barely there, which is a bit strange for the size of her head!

 

Per MoC's FB post (which mentions nothing about tan, and no discounts this time either):

And yeah, having the tan match would be my main worry, especially if the tan is as dark as that comparison pic DZ just released! My current Yumeko is a paler tan so it'd be odd to have her younger self be three shades darker =/

 

well I guess Denver doll, jeeryama and Alices collections will be taking orders for those dolls until the end of May anyway, even if MOC aren't?

 

I hope so! Though if they do their discontinuation event the same way they've done in the past, they won't allow tan. Ah well. Doing a younger Yumeko was kind of a that'd-be-cool-to-do-but-not-a-priority thing anyway.

 

Had a sort through my tiny collection yesterday....I never intended collecting tinies, and I never intended having more than 16 dolls, so time to thin the herd With my dolls, I must feel 'love' - I must look into their face and feel a 'pull' - a need to look at them again and again. They are ALL adorable, but some I look at and think 'awww' and some I look at and think 'love' - I really LIKE all of them, or I wouldn't have them in the first place! But in general I am a minimalist person - regularly throw out most of my belongings and have a bare home with just the essentials in it - my ideal being an impersonal hotel room! So I'm not a collector - and until I discovered dolls, I had no clutter except books. Just trying to explain how I can be so ruthless with my cute tinies LOL - but ruthless I am! Generally just put them away for a few months though - Sometimes they surprise me when I take them out again - like Yogr did, going from reject to favourite, with the help of a sex-change! So from my nursery, only Yogr and Mika remain - luxuriating in Flora's full attention now! Yogr has a new dollzone wig, and Mika has new clothes (poinsettia04 again) Flora's baby is an ndoll coco. Star dragon is also a keeper but she's got her own 'lair' - and new clothes too! Her dress is again Poinsettia04 - used to be worn by my Leeke Peanut, who is now waiting for Yogr to get some casual clothes (more in keeping with the nursery) so that HE (Peanut - no longer styled as a pink girly) can go sit with the big Lolita ladies on top of the cabinet. It's so complicated....

I quite agree with you elve, I need to feel a surge of happiness when I look at a doll. Otherwise I would feel like it's not the right one. And I think what's awesome is that your Yogr and Flora look like brother and sister (or mother and son). They look really nice together. Needless to say, Star is a qutie as well. ^^

 

I do like her on the DC body though - I think it looks more feline. However, something like this is a long way off for me.

Although I didn't see it until I actually put them together - when they immediately started chatting to each other What I love about Star (and Moon) is the way you can hold them like a little pet dragon - hold them by the tail where it's really thick by their legs, and yes I confess I stroke her hair and talk to her LOL - to think I had her in her box for nearly a year and didn't enjoy her - I am glad I kept her, it goes to show if you don't bond with a doll at first, maybe you will later on

 

huh anyone know the list of whats getting discontinued D8 I hope its not the animal dolls. I love those little ones and I was planning to get a batch of them at some point.

thanks mpdoll Her top is part of a poinsettia04 set off etsy - and it's perfect size for her! My leeke peanut used to wear it, with a pink wig and bloomers - but he's now wearing the dollheart suit and wig which my Yogr was wearing - it's all change here! and I have decided Star is going to be called *wait for it* Twinkle She lays in her little bed next to mine now, with her cuddly unicorn - she's such a poppet I must paint her face though - I still have no idea about the rest of her, but her face is going to be very minimal. And of course as dragons love gold (so I've heard) what else could Twinkle eat but a diet of gold chocolate coins! I may have to help her with the wrappers on those.....and the eating bit.....

 

I think the name Twinkle really suits her I love this song: "Twinkle, Twinkle, little star... " (because of you, today I will be sing it all day) xD

You know, I will be happy to help Twinkle with eating these coins too...

My little Valeriana is waiting on a wig in the mail...also, I now know how to pull her apart for blushing. It took a friend and I about an hour of trial and error to get her apart. When I get enough time to fix her up, would anyone be interesting in me posting a tutorial?

I have a secial body dale coming, so excited not sure how I will dress it, or what I'll do with it but I'm soooo excited!

 

Soooo... Shailara and I may have panicked with the discontinuations.... And we now have our pair of a Mika and boy Nyu incoming... It'll be a long wait since we split them on a six-part layaway through Jeeryama (due to other layaways happening at the same time) but that just means I get more time to prepare for them in advance (since they'll need a ton of things like all dolls plus a lot of sewing to be done). Their names will be Masrur and Ja'far (named after the one thousand and one nights characters because I'm a complete geek when it comes to those books) and I honestly can't wait to start working on their costumes even though it would be much safer to wait so I can sew them directly on them. >.<

 

Elve - I may as well make up a tutorial. There must be more curious dragon owners out there.

 

got another email from dollzone today about the discontinuation of the older tinies (nani, jani, jing etc.) and the newer tinies Mika, Nyu, Tengyuan and Hiro - They are giving a 12% DISCOUNT on them all until the end of April - that's from tomorrow, 3rd of April. I wonder if you could ask Jeeryama for that now Soenatte? Hopefully as a goodwill thing she may allow it, because she won't have sent the order through to dollzone yet, unless you ordered in March? Also 12% discount off the clothing sets for the discontinued dolls.

 

We haven't paid yet, and from what I know they don't place the order before the first payment (I just sent her my email so she could send me my invoice) so hoooopefully! xD Thank so much for letting me know elve! I hope we can get the discount as well! ><

Yes she is tan skin. Most of the time I have her dressed as a Native American, but she fits barbie clothes so its hard not to put her in a bunch of different outfits!
