Dollzone Baby BB 23cm - 29.5cm discussion part 2

I have been going back and forwards today, debating whether to get just the heads. I really like both Gino and Heather, but I'm not sure about the resin match. Any suggestions? Or is there a link somewhere with resin matches to DZ? Any help would be appreciated as I only have Choco in white and would like to try their other skin colours if I could get a match.

 

I think someone has a choco on a darak body on DOA...

 

i've been told that is a good match for normal skin pink too, i'm saving to get a new body for my choco as i like the look of the darak body better. if it works well i may get more heads to hybrid that way. darak doesn't have the kid body listed separately but i asked them and they said i could order it.

 

So are you saying the Darak body in normal goes with both the DZ white AND the DZ normal skin pink as well? And what's the difference between the A & B body? I'm thoroughly confused.

 

sorry no, just that i also had heard that the darak ns body matches the dollzone and then i specified which color of dollzone it matched! (i'm on the darak thread too and we had a discussion there about it) i'm not sure if the darak white matches the dollzone white sorry. the difference between a and b is a is single jointed and b is double jointed.

 

Thanks for clearing that up auntbear, so now I can order a Heather head in the pink quite confidently.

Does anyone have a comparison of DZ's normal yellow and normal pink? I have a yellowed doll from Dollmore who's head drives me crazy thats the right size for the new Anita /Eugenia heads. My Wendy is normal pink and the resin is close, but not perfect.

I really love my Wendy, Morwenna. She's becoming one of my favourite dolls in my collection, and she was an impulse buy! She has adopted my Peakswoods monthly fairy Coco Rain as her baby and has named him Abaloan. I've never seen a doll from one company match so well with another! Their resin and blushing is so close in colour!

It's taken me a loooooong time, but I have gathered my courage and had another go at making a tiny cote and surcote for Anna Morcades, my Dollzone Yogr/Honey Delf hybrid. I really adore this girl, but my first attempt at making her a dress failed miserably because the seams were too bulky. (I have NO IDEA how people make clothes for dolls that are even smaller!)

I'm so glad that she is dressed and all - now I can finally take her to meetups! I have been wanting to show her for so long, but we have a 'no unfinished dolls'-rule at our local group .

Sigune, she is really cute! I like her face and face-up, she really looks like krumi and Choco, but i couldn't guess what sculpt she was at first, there are not enough Yogr around...

 

Aww, her outfit is really cute Sigune! You've done a very good job. I've never heard of a doll group having a 'no unfinished dolls' rule, so I find that a little strange, but I suppose the meets I go to are never really that formal.

It's been quite cold lately and so I've not really been able to get out and do things in the garden...my terrarium on the other hand can be tended to while indoors and out of the cold, naturally Valeriana couldn't resist and had to have a look at what I was doing.

the trick is using really thin/soft fabrics so they drape properly. thin t-shirt knits work really well since you can do smaller seams without fraying.

how old/what skin tone is your yogr head? i never even considered the honey delf body as a match for hybriding. do you have any pictures of how well they go together by any chance? she is really cute!

 

Thanks, everyone! I have been terribly fond of Anna from the first and felt really frustrated because I couldn't clothe her properly.

Xanadu Dolls, that is my own face-up on her . The Dollzone one was too pink to my taste, and they don't seem to be giving her teeth. When there is room for teeth, by all means one must have teeth!



Skimo, I must admit that I originally intended to buy a Maca... But somehow at the last minute Yogr's funny face stole my heart! There don't seem to be a lot of them around; Choco is more popular.

auntbear, to be honest, I think I just got lucky. My Yogr head is Pink Skin, a pale 'normal skin' from late 2013, at a time when Dollzone Pink Skin was changing back from their infamous almost-white into pink(er). I believe it is rather more pink now. The Honey Delf body is a bit older; I got it second-hand. The resin match is almost perfect; I was quite amazed. The head fits the body quite well, too, though it does sit a bit loose on the neck. I love Dollzone and wouldn't normally have hybrided, but I really didn't like the way Yogr and the other heads that came out at the same time sat on the bodies - the necks seem so unnaturally long. The Honey Delf body has no such issue, so I'm really happy with this hybrid.
-As for the fabrics, they are so difficult :/. Since my characters are medieval, I also need to find fabrics that look suitable for the epoch. And apart from that, I just seem to be very bad at guessing whether a fabric will drape nicely XD. I do like the fabric with the checks and should probably have made the cote in something similar: it's a Japanese men's kimono fabric. The cote underneath is made of light linen - though apparently not light enough. It will do for now, though...

Quiet and Insane, I think the rule is mostly to make sure people don't bring naked dolls - nobody is going to tell someone off for bringing a doll that doesn't have its definitive look yet (and if I did turn up with a naked dolly, I don't think they'd cast me out or something!). I don't really mind it, either. It makes me put in an extra effort to clothe my dolls when a meeting approaches .
Valeriana is a cutie! Are you keeping some cousins of hers in that terrarium?

 

I'm glad you posted this second picture, now I can see her face fully. I just love the face up you have given her, it's perfect, and you are so right about the teeth. (As you can see by my avatar, I am quite passionate about teeth myself) I have Choco and thought about ordering Heather and Gino heads, but after seeing your Yogr I think I will order the three. (When the bank balance builds again. ) Thanks for the info regarding the HD body match too!

 

Is this the right place to post about my Big Dipper? I just sent him out to get painted, here is his mockup. I'm so excited; I think it looks amazing. FlightOfIcarus is the one painting him. I think I will name him Jax.

Aerasashi - I think Big Dipper is classified as an accessory companion (someone may need to clarify that for me) so this is probably not the right place for him. He is super pretty though! I hope to be able to order one before the year's end.

 

i think you are right quiet and insane. most of the full animal sculpts (as opposed to anthro human sculpts) have to have another doll in the picture to be shown on a thread. he is gorgeous though aerasashi. if you have another doll to show him with we'd love to see more of him!

Hey everyone! Long time no see xD I've been busy with school so I haven't had much time for the dolls, but yesterday I finally finished my DZ Nyus wig so all that's left now for her is getting her face done OuO I'll do that as soon as the Swedish weather allows it xD

I think the little sailor outfit from Croibi would fit better. You'd still have to pull them apart to get their arms and head through the holes though.
