Dollstown Waiting Room ~2~

Mar 19, 2011

    1. still no change on my order status. I'm checking more often now, since it's starting to be when they told me they'd ship, so I guess it seems like a longer wait than when I was just ignoring it. I should go back to not thinking about it, i guess, but i'd like to know if/when they push back the estimates again.

Carmen, that's a shame the body came in a different colour --but at least they didn't send it out w/the mismatch right?
I hope my Estella won't be a weird colour... oh well, all we can do is wait and hope XD

    2. I'm checking the site rather a lot now....I just wish they'd hurry up! Lol
Also I have started my layaway for Seola 7yrs in orientalskin...so I sold my Seola 13 head and have just bought a Daisy girl head for the 13 body.....my head is spinning with all this dolly swapping and changing *_*

    3. I'm so fed up of checking the order board to see if my 15yrs body has been shipped.....it's driving me nuts!....I wish they'd hurry up and ship my Estella's body *sigh*

    4. Waiting is hard :)

I received my mini Elysia head on wednesday :) It will be a while until she has a body...

    5. Waiting is one of the worst parts of this hobby....the other one is the expensiveness of the dolls :(

    6. Yeah, I'm trying not to check too much either. It's harder knowing that now is when they're meant to be shipping. Plus with all the delays at Dollshe, shipping could be a month later than anticipated. What worries me most is that the paleskin was so different. I've received a set of Dollshe guys and the orientalskin doesn't appear to have changed much so hopefully the orientalskin body will match my head.

    7. I just posted and asked when the orders will be likely to ship. I figure that I'd rather find out because then I don't have to check the order board.

    8. heh, we must have been having the same thought. I just asked for new estimate also. hopefully they'll respond quickly.
If they say it'll be a while at least then i won't be checking every day like I am now.

    9. When I asked Anjonghak he just replied wait a little longer.....I don't think they really know for certain :?

    10. No, I'm guessing that Dollshe is having major problems getting any dolls sent out so whenever they arrive is when they're ready.

    11. I got a response already... they said that they'd had a few of the 15yrs girls come in but my order wasn't part of that batch. Maybe different resin colour? they didn't say. they guessed that it would be another 2 weeks to a month.

I don't mind, now that Uncanny Dream has gone by, I'm not in a hurry. It's nice not to be on tenterhooks waiting now that I know it's be a while. I can just put it out of my mind for a bit. Focus on other things, such as the news I get to skip ahead to Intermediate I in ballet next fall XD.

At this point I'm not so much worried about shipping delays as trying not to look at dollstown's site and wonder if I've made the right head choice. I saw an Estella in person at Uncanny Dream and she's lovely. I also saw Clean Slate, Candygears' Yeondu and fell quite hard >w<; But probably Estella is the best sized head for the 15 yrs girl body so it's for the best.

    12. Oh Estella is lovely!.....I'm waiting for my 15yrs body to arrive for my Estella...I can't wait....I keep finding things to do to keep my mind from the dolls, been gardening when the weather permits, I think we are destined for a wet summer this year in the UK :(

    13. At present, Dollshe appear to be doing freshskin and I know they've done pale tan and the tans. I was told another 2 weeks to one month so I guess I'll put the body out of my head until the end of the month.

    14. At least my Daisy head has been shipped :) ...I think it will be a couple more weeks before the bodies are shipped though...oh well, nevermind I'll just have to keep myself busy with other things....I bought some stuff to suede my dolls, so that will give me something to do, and I could give them a body bush too :)

    15. I hope I'm lucky with my order, I ordered Freshskin on the first day of the 15girl order, I saw a few orders after me had new messages so fingers crossed!

    16. I also ordered Freshskin for the 15yrs body .....but still no news :(

    17. i'm waiting on my bandi!! i am beyond excited. i sold a very beloved doll to get her (non-bjd), but i had to do it. for me, it was love at first site with her.

i ordered the head separate from the body, because i realized i'm not that patient. hehe.

congratulations everyone with all your orders too. i hope they all come quickly!

    18. Yay, I just got my tracking number from Dollstown today! Hope everyone else gets theirs soon!

    19. Oh I'm so happy for you Kawaii_mon :)

    20. Thanks treehugger1961! Unfortunately I'm broke for awhile so I won't be able to afford her a faceup for the next month! At least she'll be home and I can at least start on her wardrobe.

    21. You could always have a go yourself at a face up???....mind you, I'm not so good either and end up getting my daughter to do it,Lol

    22. Oh I wish they would hurry up and send my Estella's body!!!......I keep looking to see if it's been shipped and it's always the same :(

    23. I'm trying not to check. I've got a Bandi head here and her face-up is already done. She just needs a body.

    24. Aww it's so frustrating....my Estella was using the 13yr body but then Daisy's head arrived and now Daisy is using it, so poor Estella is now in a box for the time being :(

    25. I've never had a good track record with faceups honestly, my skills lie in sewing, not painting! XD Usually my friend paints for me but she's rather ill at the moment so I won't be bothering her about it.

My Estella arrived today, but I had had her shipped to my friend's house (back when we were moving house two months ago :P), so I have to wait till Tuesday to go and get her! Work is going to be extra slow the next couple of days I'm sure. x.x

    26. Congrats on getting your Estella!.....I bet it's so frustrating for you having to wait till Tuesday!! ....but at least you have something really good to look forward to ;)
I wish I could do face ups....I need to buy a spare head to practice on, but knowing me I'd probably want to buy a body for it,Lol

    27. how long did it take everyone to get just heads?

(when i placed my order for bandi, i decided i would have them send the head and body to me separately, because i didn't want to wait as long as it would take to send the whole thing. they said i would receive the head a week after i paid, and the body apx. one month after i paid. but i haven't received the head yet.)

    28. It's usually a week after paying that they ship the heads .....mine only took a week :)I wish it was the same with bodies! *yawn*

    29. Doesn't all this waiting for dolls make you feel like giving up?....or at least only buying second hand dolls? :yawn

    30. I paid for mine via layaway so it doesn't feel like I've been waiting that long. My worry is how long Dollshe will take. They're horrendously slow at present. Their own orders are so far behind, it's no wonder that the Dollstown are taking ages. I was due to get 4 dolls in the sale and I ended up cancelling my second order because it got swapped back to July. I think it will be closer to December the way they are going.

    31. treehugger - i placed the order with dollstown about 2 weeks ago. for head & body sent separate. they said they'd send me the tracking number for the head, but i haven't got it yet. :(

    32. You'll just have to message them again orphansparrow ......it's so frustrating this hobby sometimes!:...(
Hobbysue I'm gonna take my time with the next layaway I have, I worry about owing money but don't know why I bother with things being so far behind anyway

    33. I am wondering if I am not understanding this ordering at the moment. I need a 13 body and a 7 body, both in the paleskin. Are we having to wait to order or can we pay and then they ship when they are ready. Right now it looks like nothing is available except some heads. Since people are talking here about getting bodies I was wondering unless this is from before. Why are thing so slow now since before it was so face. And that other company that is doing stuff for them, why are they so behind. People are going to get tired of waiting and buy something else.

    34. As I understand it, Dollshe do the casting for Dollstown, and Dollshe are so far behind with their orders they are making Dollstown behind too, most of the bodies on the Dollstown website are on pre order now and some are not even available at the moment. I'm waiting like so many others for my 15yrs girl body which I bought in March of this year....and it's driving me insane .....I also have a Seola 7yrs girl to come .....god knows when she will be ready....maybe Christmas???.....who knows!....it will put people off buying I think :...(

    35. omg! dollstown just said they shipped not only the head, but the head AND body together for me! they even refunded me for the added shipping cost for sending them separately! i'm so excited!!

treehugger - oh dear, i'm so sorry! i hope they ship yours asap!

    36. That's wonderful orphansparrow :) .......I just checked the website this morning and still nothing for me :(

    37. So that is what we need to do is preorder bodies. I don't like the idea of giving them my money and then waiting with no idea when I will receive my merchandise. I think I will wait until they are in stock. I have to say, us BJD collectors have to be very trusting sending money to a land far away and hoping we receive our stuff. You never know when a company may disappear. I have ordered many dolls and have always received my stuff but there is always the first time. I have had very good service from Dollstown though. The only one I had trouble with was my Dandelion from Narin through Dollsfair Internatiional. What a fiasco that was but I did get her even though she wasn't done as I had requested.

    38. I don't like pre ordering either, I'd much prefer to buy the dolls when they are only going to take a week or two to be shipped....I'm so sick of checking the order board to see if they have shipped my 15yr body....poor Estella is sharing Daisy's 13yr body atm :(

    39. Well, Dollstown used to do their own casting so if worse comes to worse, I trust that they will do that again to send the dolls out. My only worry will be that I have bought a head and body separately. I'm certain that Dollstown will get the orders sent. Dollshe are slow but they are still sending orders. It is annoying not knowing when they will send, but I'm hoping they will be sent soon. Originally Dollstown said end of May early June, then 2 weeks - 1 months which means end of June/early July and we're practically there now so not long now.

Yep, layaway is definitely the way to go. It does burn up some of the waiting time. I'd only do it with companies that I trust though.

    40. Just wondering if anybody has had any news about the 15yr bodies?......surely it can't be much longer now???

    41. I haven't asked yet. They posted a notice about the 2 weeks to 1 month on the 6th June so I figure I'll query again on the 6th July. My hubby's been sick so haven't even thought about the body until about a week ago. No update and I checked again today.

    42. I really shouldn't keep checking the order board but I can't help myself,Lol.....hope your hubby is better soon Hobbysue , my hubby is permanently ill ...always in and out of hospital :(

    43. Well it's the 1st of July...and still no Estella 15yr body :( It's so frustrating!

    44. My hubby is fine, it's just a cold. Yeah, no new is frustrating but I'm checking the Dollshe threads and they appear to be moving very slowly as well. They just don't ship quickly. Most of the people there have been waiting since November/December and a couple have been waiting since last July. I will probably post Monday next week and ask if there are any updates, but I figure Dollstown has about as much idea of when Dollshe will ship as we do. Poor guys. It's probably just as frustrating for them. They've had to put their entire business on hold courtesy of Dollshe's sales.

Edit: I ordered in March, paid off in May so I'm guessing they won't be rushing Dollstown orders too much because Dollshe are so far behind.

Edit again: Eeek! I just checked the Dollshe Waiting Room and people who ordered in December are being told two more months. Yikes. Hopefully our orders will be a bit quicker.

    45. OMG I'm glad I'm not waiting for a dollshe.....I'd have gone mad by now,Lol :o

    46. I asked Dollstown a month ago what happened to the boy I ordered in their 7yo sales promotion (March), and they asked me to wait 2 or 3 more weeks... I really don't want to bother them again, but I hope I'll get my boy soon * sigh * At least I'm busy with my other dolls.

    47. Apparently Dollshe have 40 dolls ready to ship so perhaps our gang will be amongst them?

    48. Oh I hope so!!...that would be wonderful! :)

    49. I really would like another 13 or 7 body but this is crazy. I have no intention of giving them my money and then waiting months. It wasn't very long ago I ordered a Momo head and 7 body and it was shipped in about a week. I had also ordered a Ganga head and that was about 2 weeks. Even when I ordered a New Susie with faceup it was about a month. How can this company change so quickly. Well we know why, but it is very frustrating. I will just wait until it is back to normal. If things don't change, people will go elsewhere. I find there are too many other companies out there for us to wait months.

    50. well, no update on any of my threads... I'm going to wait a week (their outside estimate) and then ask again.
Hobbysue, where was it you heard about all the dollshe dolls ready to go?

I would almost think they would try to get all their own orders done before doing the dollstown orders that are backlogged. I'm not getting my hopes up. I didn't expect this at all from dollstown, they used to have such a good reputation. I wouldn't even be so annoyed now if they'd said from the start of the last 15yrs sale that it would be a lengthy wait, surely they had some idea dollshe craft was having a rough patch.

    51. Apparently Dollshe told someone that out of their 400 orders, they had made 170 and had 40 dolls ready to go. So I think Dollshe will have a backlog for quite a while.

I am guessing that Dollshe wants to keep the Dollstown business so are trying to get their orders done as well. The reality is that they have had backlogs and taken 8 months to send their dolls even while supplying Dollstown. This current sale has pushed them well behind though. As they appear to have made paleskin and orientalskin orders recently, I'm going to hope that Dollstown will get some orders soon. Part of the problem is that Dollshe had one sale in November/December, got a massive amount of business and a huge cash inflow and I'm guessing said "that was great, let's do it again". So they did. They held another sale in March (which was when I cancelled my second lot of Dollshe orders). I'm betting that Dollstown had no idea that Dollshe would hold two sales in quick succession. Nor do they want their business to come to a halt while Dollshe just caters to their own business. I don't think anyone realised how long it would take Dollshe to get things moving including Dollshe. They had some quite optimistic schedules which they appear to have stopped posting.

    52. They shouldn't take on such large orders if they can't get them out in good time.....maybe they should employ more workers or something??....it's not fair on Dollstown for Dollshe to have two big sales like they did....it puts people off ordering from them when they find they have to wait months, if I'd have known how long it would take to get this 15yr body I wouldn't have bothered... and bought a 13yr body instead :doh
I want more DT dolls but I don't like the idea of paying all my money out and having to wait months for the goods!....so I think I'll hang on and maybe find one in the marketplace instead;)

    53. Well, up until the Dollshe sales, they've been pretty good with delivery times. Dollstown are one of the better companies. They seemed to have a good system up and running. I don't blame Dollstown, I blame Dollshe who appear quite disorganised. I still think we'll get our dolls a lot quicker than the Dollshe people and considering I know what is causing the delivery delay, I'm certainly not annoyed at Dollstown. Considering I paid off the doll in May, I haven't been waiting long anyway. Even a 3 month wait isn't too bad for a lot of companies these days. Four months seems to be the normal time for a lot of them if they are even reasonably popular.

Buying in the marketplace has different risks and Dollstown are rarely discounted much, often they're inflated so I'm happy to buy direct especially since I do like to layaway. I'm guessing that this year won't be the best time to buy from them given the Dollshe backlog, but I'm pretty patient and happy to wait until next year for my guy to get his body. I'm going to put my Hue head on a Dollshe body and see how I like the 70cm body with that head. I'm still trying to decide whether I want the 15 or 18 body so it gives me plenty of time to make a decision. Especially since I'll be able to see how I like the height with Bandi and the 15 girl body.

    54. I noticed a few questions asked on the order board about the 15yr bodies....does anybody know what's happening???

    55. I saw that too, wondering if anyone here has heard anything.
It does seem like Dollshe keeps up a little better with DT than their own orders. at least it wasn't until recently that things got backed up for Dollstown. It's a shame they've gotten caught in the middle.

I ordered Freshskin Estella girl, but durring the wait, I saw some dollstwn girls in person for the first time and now I wish I'd ordered a Yeondu in Paleskin XD. Oh well, I'm sure I'll be happy with estella when she gets here, but I really fell for Clean Slate when I saw her.

    56. This explanation was posted in the Dollshe thread:

It's true that we're experiencing many difficulties. Given the nature of the work, we have to train people until they become familiar with the work processes. However, some unexpectedly quit for health or personal reasons. In short, there are so many unexpected contingencies that arise. I suppose this is the case with any business. Yet we do know that we need to make improvements to better serve our customers.

We understand that the current delay is our fault. Once we get all the Pure Body orders out, we will make improvements to our pre-order system. We plan to make a certain number of dolls beforehand and then take orders accordingly. We will also change our shipping system that it doesn't take more than 2 months from when the order is placed. We are struggling right now given that so many things have happened contrary to what we had initially expected.

They said earlier in the year that they were having to hire and train new staff. It appears that the turnover of staff is ongoing. I guess it is a job that doesn't suit everyone.

    57. The rest of that response (which was prompted by my writing to express my disappointment that Dollstown was being delayed by DollShe's own Pure orders) was this:

We sincerely apologize for the delay with the shipping. But there are some misunderstandings, which we would like to clarify.

We're not simply an outsourcing reproduction center. Also, we discuss with our clients beforehand about the schedule and meet the set schedule. So far, we have never missed a reproduction deadline for another company. We tell our clients beforehand that the reproductions can take up to 2 weeks more than the date initially agreed upon. We undertake through discussions to fine-tune the schedule should the need arise.

Dollstown knows that we're struggling with a large backlog of orders. We had asked Dollstown about our situation and they know we will be focusing on the backlog of orders for the time being. Dollstown is one of the few BJD companies for which we do reproduction work without prior reservation. This is because Dollstown is a local company that is well-renowned for its original creations. We do not unilaterally adjust our reproduction schedules in such a way as to damage other doll makers. We hope there aren't any misunderstandings in this regard.

Once we complete the shipping of the Pure Body orders, we will work even harder to create beautiful dolls and better serve our customers. We apologize for having disappointed you.

      Sincerely yours,
      DollShe craft

I still don't think it's cool that they basically asked Dollstown to take the back seat for a while. :/

    58. quote: I still don't think it's cool that they basically asked Dollstown to take the back seat for a while. :/

I agree with you here St. James!.... and also it was selfish of Dollshe to do two big sales promotions of the Pure body....which is what has been the main reason they are so far behind with the orders now :(

    59. It sounds as if they work on a friendship basis though, so Dollstown doesn't have to wait in line like other customers but then they have to take a backseat now that Dollshe are snowed under. Unfortunately, it looks like the backlog will last most of the year. That's why I cancelled my Pure body orders, I knew I wasn't up for another 10 month wait after the joy of the customhouse experience, although Dollshe are great at keeping people informed. I just know that I'd be mentally querying all the delays. Dollstown used to do their own casting at one stage so if things go too haywire with Dollshe, I guess they could again. I'm hoping that the 15 bodies will get sent out shortly though.

    60. I wish Dollstown would do their own casting....at least at times like this when they are overwhelmed with orders.....I'm so fed up of waiting to see my Estella completed :(
