Dollstown Waiting Room ~2~

Mar 19, 2011

    1. @Grimalkin - Congratulations! Please share when they arrive!

I forgot to update this thread that my "in stock" 17yr vision body purchase actually was not in stock, so was converted to a pre-order without me knowing. I had posted on the Q&A board when another person who had ordered an in stock body after me and got theirs. Since it was converted to a pre-order, I negotiated a change to the resin selection to oriental. I'm a bit bummed that this was the turn of events, and I hope that it's not too long a wait.

    2. @Grimalkin Congratulation! Hope your order arrives safely and promptly!

In other news, I've message the customer support and learned that my order hasn't even been forwarded to the casting service yet, and "it will be forwarded soon". I'm not sure what's taking so long since the order was fully paid for 1.5 months ago.
It might be a really, really long time until I get it.
Meanwhile, I'm feeling a bit impatient because I want to finally experience the beauty of Dollstown sculpting with my own eyes.

    3. probably someone else knows more details, but i remember reading somewhere here on DOA that DT is only 2 people, and they hand finish, prepare and ship all the dolls themselves. it must be such a huge job when they run a company wide sale like that. i pre-ordered in April, to my knowledge they arrived to DT in September, and I will receive end of Nov - early Dec: about 7 months total which seems remarkable. i want to know their secrets LOL (sorry if this sounds weird, but if you know the other waiting room i've been in then you know the deal... everything seems faster than that... i didn't mean anything else by it. )

and i will take some pics when they get in :thumbup I can't get to my usual doll unboxing assistant, so i will have to pick someone from the boxes i can reach right now to make it a bit fun and campy as usual.

i'm very interested in learning how to suede them properly so i'll be hip deep in tutorials i'm sure!

i really hope all of yours are on the move quickly too :kitty2

      -update- 11/24/21
OK so i guess i have to edit rather than double post. my studio is in shambles (under repair) and i can't get to my gear so the photos are not particularly great. these boys were only 6 days in transit from KR to USA which was amazing. I will have to take better photos later. my little J-baby skeleton is helping unbox this time. i actually couldn't tell which body was which, I'll have to lay them out together and compare. top row is one, bottom row is the other and just the single Teo head on both.

They did COA for bodies and head, and gave a nice little packet of putty and velcro with each kit. the hands were carefully bubble wrapped inside the larger mummy wrap, and the head was in a protective hard plastic cap and not on the body. lots of good bubble wrap and foam noodles. the resin is heavy and a beautiful texture. i hope everyone else's are on the way and move quickly.

    4. Just got a message that my two bodies (17g & 13g) for my Black Cherry heads are on their way, with the exception of the 17b feet that's being delayed! Can't wait to slowly get both my girls finished this upcoming 2022.

    5. @Yuchan92, good to hear that some of your order is on its way to you! When did you place your order?

@Grimalkin, Skellie makes a very cute assistant :kitty1 Also good to know that DT packs things well for shipping.

I placed an order on November 29 (One Elf body and two heads, Sarang and Maru, all in Fresh), and am probably looking at at least 2 to 4 months more wait, but I think DT has a little more leverage to keep Dollshe on track, lol! It was a bit of an adventure negotiating the new website (last time I ordered was August 2019), but DT was very nice and patient with me until I figured it out :sweat:3nodding:

    6. @Grimalkin - I meant to respond to your post after I hearted it, but forgot. The body looks so nice! Are you deciding between the two bodies for the head? Now that you've had some time with them, do you have some observations to share?

@Yuchan92 - How exciting! Here's hoping that Dollstown got a shipment from Dollshe and a few more of us will have incoming dolls! Which Black Cherry Dolls sculpt will you be hybriding?

@beamlette - Welcome back to the waiting room. This one is significantly quieter than the Dollshe one. Feel free to add to the waitlist wiki page (also at the top of the page/thread) if you're comfortable. I've only ordered this year from DT for the first time, and my last order in April took about ~180 days to arrive. I'm sitting at about ~130 days for my 17yr vision body... so maybe another two months. I hope for you it's in the 2-4 month range, but that hasn't been my experience this year.

    7. @VeraLyne, thanks for the welcome!

I may be a little optimistic about my waiting time; it's hard to say if the resin color and size of doll has any bearing on wait times. Not that I don't have other dolls to keep me busy while waiting, lol. I think I'm a little antsy to get them and paint them before hot weather comes back here in the spring!

    8. @beamlette - thanks, the little skellie is a pretty fun assistant :kitty2 i was a little nervous since the two boxes were taped to each other and seemed small for this size doll, but everything was great.

@VeraLyne - i haven't had a lot of time to work with them so far, but my initial leaning is for Teo to be on the 17yrs body. unfortunately his head slumped a little in that picture, the string was pretty tight so i didn't do the S hook in these. but, he is proportional to both. i think the fact that i wanted to use the 18yrs for a different head influences my decision too

p.s. - in my opinion, the pictures of Teo look "more" proportional on the 18yr old in the ads, but in person it didn't look as bobble headed on the 17yr body, though i didn't try a wig or clothes yet, so my opinion might change LOL. i think he was built for the 18yr old body, but his features look young to me so that was part of the choice for the 17 in my case.

    9. @beamlette - I placed my order back in April 21st so I'm happy to soon have them! :whee:

@VeraLyne - Holding my thumbs for that! And the bodies are for my little Kaorin and my Aishat heads.

    10. @Yuchan92, thank you for telling us how long it took for your order. Eight months! Most likely my order will take that long too, especially with the Chinese New Year coming up in the near future. Patience, patience... :3nodding:

    11. Hello! I’m new to this waiting room, but I placed an order for the elf body in “copper oriental” resin on December 22nd 2021. I’m expecting to wait a while, but I’m excited to put my black Cherry xiaoyu head on it!

    12. Welcome to the waiting room, @StarFennec! The Elf body is a nice one for making petite and posable girls; that's why I ordered another, lol!

    13. Hello Everyone!:D

I decided to share guilty pleasure with people who might be interested and hopefully get some questions answered. I’m super excited about all my Dollstown dolls that will (hopefully) come soon. On 01/04/2022 I ordered two full dolls Halley in Pale Tan w/ a vision body, Sooha in Pale on 18yr old body, and 1 body 17yr in Pale on 02/04/2022. I bring this up because I want to brag but ’m curious what people have seen if the average wait time? I see they share resources with Dollshe which is fine but has anyone noticed it as a problem? I dont mind waiting because their dolls are beautiful and waiting will just make me value them more. I will use them as part of my fanfic project and couple them with some awesome MNM heads from Huli Dolls. My 17yr body will be a MNM Timothee Chalamet head from Huli Dolls.

      My secret project Vampire Lovers:
      1. Dollshe Craft Rey Lewis as “Luis De Pointe du Lac” - ordered 01/2022
      2. Dollshe Craft Vampire Khan as “Lestat de Lioncourt” - ordered 10/2020
      3. Dollshe Craft Aramis + MiniMee Leonardo DiCaprio as “Carlos” - ordered 10/2020
      4. Dollstown Halley as “Queen Akasha” - ordered 01/2022
      5. Dollstown Sooha as “Richard”- ordered 01/2022
      6. Dollston 17yr Boy Body + MiniMee Timothee Chalamet as “Armand”- ordered 02/2022
Thank you for your time, feedback, and have a great week!

    14. Wow, you have some very ambitious projects!

Since Dollshe casts for Dollstown, the Dollstown wait time has gone up the past couple of years. Back in 2019, my Elf body order took a couple months at most, which wasn't bad, but the orders others have made on this chat thread over the past year seem to be taking 4-6 months at best, depending on what was ordered.

I don't know how much of the Dollshe waiting room chat thread you've read before or after placing your orders, and not to throw cold water on them, but... it's not looking good on Dollshe's part.

    15. I just poked my head in here because I've been waiting since late November for a Dollstown elf body (for my Black Cherry XiaoYu head), and wondered what news there might be about waiting times. :nowords: Guess I'll go back to thinking about other things while I wait with you all!

      • x 1
    16. Hi Cynthia! Yeah… it’s been almost 4 months since you and I placed our orders, and I expect it’ll be another 2 months at least before they’re ready to ship. Meantime, our other dolls think we should be spending more time with them, lol!

      • x 1
    17. And they are not wrong! :thumbup

    18. Hi all. I recently crossed the 200 day waiting mark, so I decided to post on the Q&A thread to see if there were any updates. Dollstown confirmed that they have gotten my doll body in hand and will try to send it out next week! Mine is a 17yr Vision Body in Oriental, so maybe it means there will be a batch of those. Will update when the body is home, likely early to mid April at this rate with will put it at ≈7.5 month wait. Hoping that all your wait times are shorter than mine [and you don't end up with what was supposed to be an in-stock item at the time of order].

      • x 2
    19. @VeraLyne, sorry you had to put up with a long wait for something you ordered thinking it would be in-stock. Good thing you asked about it on the website Q&A!

The items I ordered didn't say they were in-stock, so I was somewhat prepared for a wait. That, and knowing their reliance on Dollshe for casting ;):sweat:roll:

    20. My order made it home today! I filmed the box opening, but I wanted to edit it so that I will share that later. I'm still not 100% sure who will get this body, but it's rather lean and long in the torso. I knew this, but when I compare it with the Dollshe 16F body, the Dollstown Vision body looks a bit... alien? Definitely much more stylized. Anyway, I put the Diana EN on the 17y Vision body (left), and the OE on the 16F (right). The neck is longer/made for a head with a deeper neck hole. This isn't a problem for most of my heads. The 16F body's neck could use a donut to give it a few millimeters of height for my other heads.

Anyway, I'm glad she's home! Good luck to everyone else, and I hope your orders make it home to you soon!

    21. Ordered a dollstown J in copper on the 18 yr boy body, and it's been 3 months waiting for the elf body in the same resin tone. But I'm excited!

    22. WoooHOOOOO -- shipping notice from Dollstown for my freshskin elf body!! Now, where DID I put the wig and, erm, the head that's going to go with it . . . . :XD::whee:

@beamlette, since we ordered on the same day, are you also celebrating a shipping notice????

      • x 3
    23. @Cynthia in Flinthills, congratulations! :cheer

Alas, no shipping notice for me yet. I also ordered two heads at the same time (Maru and Sarang), which might slow down my order. We shall see... :sweat

    24. I ordered a DT 18yrs body in oriental sin some months ago and it's finally coming home. I am so excited!!!!
I hate posing this body but it's so handsome I couldn't resist.

    25. April 12 2022, I ordered a 7 year old girl body. Please god of dolls, make it short... three months maybe?

      • x 1
    26. Welcome @Betina! Based on my experience last year, my early April order came in at the end of the September, so a solid 6 months. And my most recent order in August just arrived last month (totaling 7.5 months). Longer than three months is almost guaranteed because Dollshe casts these dolls, but I do hope it will be shorter for you. I adore the DT7 body, though I do wish it had double jointed knees (not a dealbreaker).

      • x 1
    27. Thank you Vera, that's really helpful. An i knd of knew it could be that way. The nice side is that the Dollshe dolls I've had were amazing (I still have two Ausley heads, one sd and one msd, the tiny without a body, I think she'll stay like that, I shoud make her a stand or something). I want the body for an old Dollstown Bori head. I'll be patient, but I can't wait...

    28. It's been about 6 months of waiting on the Elf body now, hopefully she gets here soon!

    29. You and me both, @StarFennec!

First thing every morning for the past month I eagerly check for a Dollstown email. I I haven't used their Q&A since I placed my order November 29, 2021, so I'm contemplating asking how much longer. Nicely, of course :3nodding:

    30. Same!

    31. Week before last, I Q&A'ed Dollstown, and they said my order was almost ready to ship -- then I got the email notice, woohoo! :dance

At first I was happy that the package made it in and out of Customs in LA, and to my city before the 4th of July weekend, but July 1st, the day it was supposed to be out for delivery, came and went, with the last (and very ambiguous) scan stuck at 6:15 am on July 2nd for the entire weekend and on into yesterday morning. So... I headed over to my area PO, and thankfully it was there, with the other EMS packages. Whoever couldn't deliver it on July 1st, should've left a clearer notice saying it could be picked up; it would've saved me a lot of worry :sweat Fortunately, the package was in very good condition, and the contents too. A huge relief after 7 months' wait! Now time to plan out the new girls' faceups :)

Anyhoo... wishing everyone else waiting on their Dollstown orders that they come soon, and are delivered properly! :3nodding:

      • x 4
    32. Oh, good! I sent an email, and I think I'll be waiting a while longer since I ordered copper according to dollstown... :/

    33. Still waiting, not sure if it’ll be until later this year, maybe December? I’m prepared to wait until then, I guess. I ordered copper resin for the dollstown elf body and I’m still really looking forward to getting it!

    34. Still waiting on the copper dollstown elf body, I sent a Q&A post on the website with the order number asking for an update.
Is 9 months a typical wait time?

    35. Maybe the color is delaying things, but... remember that Dollshe casts for Dollstown, and Dollshe unfortunately operates on their own time :sweat I wonder if Dollstown will ever quit doing business with Dollshe, or if it doesn't matter to Dollstown about however long it takes.

    36. That's true... I'm just not looking forward to more waiting:pout:

    37. Got a reply that says it’ll be another 1-2 months, so that’s promising!!! I can wait a bit longer:3nodding:

    38. Apparently my 18yr J shipped!!!! I didn’t get a notice by email but I checked the website and he shipped! It’s been about 7 months.

      • x 3
    39. He’s here! Still waiting on my dollstown elf body in the same skin tone, but I have my J I ordered in April!

      • x 2
    40. Congratulations - always great to see Dollstown dolls going to homes. I'd love to see photos eventually in the discussion threads/gallery. ^^

    41. Can do!

      • x 1
    42. One more month until I get the dollstown copper elf body I ordered back in December last year… it’s weird how I got the dollstown j before this body?

    43. It’s been another month, and still waiting, but I really want this body despite waiting a year…

    44. Have you asked Dollstown again? Seems like your last enquiry was back in September, which is quite a ways back already. I don't think it hurts to ask Dollstown again, especially since you ordered a year ago and have been waiting well over typical delivery times.

      • x 1
    45. I asked yesterday, and got a response! Apparently dollstown has received the body! Yay!!! They say they'll ship it out in a week :)

      • x 1
    46. Dollstown has been good about responding to my messages since I sent one inquiry last month and they said it would be another month. And they were correct. I am admittedly a little disappointed that I waited so long, though.

    47. I got my 7yo body, maybe a month ago. Since April that makes 6 or 7 months. I don't want to check, it's so beautiful that i forgot the waiting already.

    48. My order shipped!

    49. My elf body arrived today! I need to post photos :3nodding:

    50. I'm waiting for a 17 body girl for my Elysia head bought the past year, apparently in stock *fingers crossed*
edit : i received it today, 12th April. It was really fast :)

    51. This is the first time I've ordered from Jonghak An and Dollstown, directly.
I've ordered an In Stock Elf, which will be for my Xiao Yu head. Very much looking forward to bringing them together.

I've ordered on May 1st, during their Anniversary special.

*Update: my Elf body in Fresh arrived on 6th June.

I enquired by email about the estimated dispatch time, and they responded super quick. Advising that, because of the anniversary special, they've been super busy, so expected dispatch was 2-3 weeks after ordering. Super nice speaking with them.

      She's beautiful, ya'all.

      :)

    52. Hi everybody! I'm back to this hobby after a ~7-year hiatus and just ordered an Elf body in fresh for my black cherry Xiao Yu head. The body was marked "In Stock" and I'm having a little bit of a hard time understanding if that truly means in stock. Does Dollstown still have to make the doll or is it sitting just waiting to be shipped? Hopefully, I can avoid a months-long waiting process :eusa_pray.

    53. I hope this helps:
I ordered an In Stock Elf during their Anniversary Special. They've been super busy, so the doll shipped out 3 weeks after I placed my order.
They're a pretty small team, but if you have a similar experience to me, you may have her, soon. Fingers Crossed :)

    54. Thanks for the help! It seems I will have a similar experience after all! I ordered on May 30, and they shipped my order only a few days ago and it is processing through customs already.

      • x 1
    55. Has anyone made a more recent order with DT? I know that DT dolls were cast by Dollshe and only recently they bought their own casting equipment, I assume they've got a backlog of orders and waiting times are still extended?

    56. Their website says they have a turnaround time of 14-30 days - for existing dolls, I think. There's another turnaround time of 1-2 months for "dolls in process of silicone mold", which I assume is new releases?

I ordered a set of option hands and feet in April, it took 19 days between payment and shipping out to me. That's for option parts, so I figure their estimate of under 2 months for a full doll is accurate.

    57. I ordered a Hyun on the new 16 years girl body :dance She will be the lil sister of my Elysia. I'm super curious to see them together :)

    58. Got a Hue head in Oriental Skin on the way! I sent in my payment at the end of August, so with casting/shipping times, he'll probably arrive in November or December. Yay!

Originally, I thought I had missed Hue's re-release because, while stalking DT's instagram and website the summer of this year, I only saw posts announcing 2023 as the estimated re-release date. So I emailed DT in July, inquiring about Hue's status, and they got back to me a few days later, kindly stating that they were planning to release him in August, which they did :thumbup

    59. I don't want to pester with e-mails too much so I'll ask here first if I should give for granted that a short layaway is an option. If Dollstown holds a seasonal event I might start off in November to shorten the wait.

NOV 4 EDIT: Joining the wait! The event happened eventually, so I placed an order for Yujin on the 18 girl body today.

    60. Every day since I ordered, I've been looking at Yujin's gallery in anticipation :love An Jonghak stated that she'll be ready around January but the wait is killing me already! :D

EDIT: I was notified of a delay on January 7 as An Jonghak was making the silicone molds for the updated bodies. I assumed she would take longer for the sanding/painting so that's OK. Will keep this updated when she's shipped.

EDIT February 6: My Yujin shipped! :D:D:D:D
It took 3 months, ordered on November 4.
She shipped via EMS, does this mean she'll be stuck in customs for a while? I take it that EMS shipments are routed to DHL/UPS/SDA. Italian customs are so slow unless Fedex takes care of them.
