Hi guys, me again with more clothes questions lol! Has anyone tried TTYA clothes on their 7 years kids? I really want to get some more basic pieces to pad out Olive's wardrobe but struggling to find anything. Like tops and pants etc. Would really appreciate any advice EDIT - Or maybe Dollmore? Has anyone tried any pants (trousers, shorts, jeans etc.) from them?
Early Dollstown description of Maru said the head was 8.something cm but Dollstown corrected that and it is actually 7.something cm. I thinkin my opinion it would be way too small for the DT elf body. Go to the Dollstown site and verify the measurements as several people cancelled their orders when they found out the difference.
I haven't Lucy but I know that I have seen DT7 girls in TTYA dungarees and they looked good. But the TTYA sizing is inconsistent so some pairs fitted well while others didn't. So you are taking a chance but you could get lucky. I can't say for sure but the I almost 100% sure that the Alina head is much smaller than the 8" quoted on the website. I had an Alina and she was just SO much smaller than a Ganga or Seola7. In fact she shared wigs with my Blue Fairy girls! I had her on the elfbody and I thought she looked great If the Maru head is the same size as an Alina she too could work well on the elfbody. Has anyone written to DT and asked if the Alina and Maru heads are the same size? I sold my Alina on as I prefer my dolls to have a larger head.
From the photo's of it linked to the Dollstown site, it works very well on the Elf body: Maru 7yrs head+Elf body Teddy
I wanted something to show for the holiday weekend so today I grabbed an old child's dress from my fabric stash, adapted an MSD bodice and sleeve pattern I drew up some time ago, and recycled thr front panel of the skirt into a new summer party dress for January (her hair band and bow are the shoulder straps from the original dress: Teddy
January looks lovely! It's so nice to be seeing all the DT girls again. Btw. Seola is home, and happy to be so.
Oh my; I've missed a lot of recent posts. For some reason I didn't get notifications but I checked and it shows the thread is still being watched. It's funny; Maru's head looked BIG to me! I would have sworn her head was larger than my Deogi and Amy5. I know children's heads look large in comparison to their bodies, but I like my dolls with smaller heads. And apparently pouty kids vs Jane's preference for smiling faces. I mailed my Anneliese's head to AngelToast last week for her new faceup. I'm looking forward to seeing her and I hope that she looks older than Lilianna! I'm debating on different wigs now since they will be a little older than I originally envisioned. More like 8 and 10 instead of 5 and 7. I hope your dress for Megan turns out as you hope. I look forward to seeing her in her new dress. You have such fabulous outfits and props for your girls. I haven't done any sewing for my girls yet as I never finished painting my spare bedroom that I told myself must be finished first. I'm back on the road again and so my projects have fallen even farther behind. I'm glad you have your Seola back Opal. Seola was one of the first DT girls that I longed for. Theresa - I think we have all experienced times when our interest has waned or life or lack of money gets in the way of enjoying our dolls. All it takes sometimes is that little spark that a new sculpt strikes in us to bring us back. It was my DT girls that did it for me. Cynthia - any lovely pale cardis in the petal pattern for our girls coming in the near future? Teddy - lovely dress for January and how wonderful to repurpose a child's dress.
Oh fabulous news!!! I am so pleased *yippee* I can't wait to see her in a photo now. And I am not getting regular notifications for here for some reason either Coleen. I even tried unsubscribing and resubscribing.....but still no joy. I just have to just remember to check in. My first impression about Maru was that it was a large head too. I loved how it looked on the DT7 body......and I still do actually! I am keeping my *fingers crossed* for you about Anneliese's face-up working out for you. And my sewing has come to a standstill at the moment, as suddenly I want to photograph dolls again *gasp* And after a summer of where I didn't want to do that, I am not ignoring that urge I can tell you!
Thanks Hopefully the sewing urge will pick up more hen the weather is bad an outside dolly photos don't have much appeal. Teddy
How great to have the urge to take photos again! I do hope you will share them with us. You have such wonderful props!
Yesterday, My Arin got to play with his friend Edith (who is Jane's): Edith very kindly let Arin ride her tricycle while she rode her hobby-horse. While I took the photograph, Jane is the talented one responsible for both posing the dolls and calling me outside to see what they were up to. Teddy
Thank you so much Teddy. I love it when Edith and Arin get to play together. And I agree..........it is such a shame they live so far apart *sigh*
I have just this minute looked at them and I have a lovely one of Arin on the trike and lots like yours. I am thrilled with them all. And I really liked how you had wired Arin! He was an absolute dream to pose........wow!
It was fun! It has been a long time since Arin and Edith had a play day together......I love Arin's little teddy so much!
I also have this edited photo of Arin on the trike... I so wish I bought a boy DT7 body when they were making them. And I know I could just dress a female body as a lad but it wouldn't be the same for me.
I am the same way Jane; I would need the proper body as well I am happy to report that AngelToast is in the process of applying the gloss to Anneliese's new faceup. I haven't yet seen photos; I am so looking forward to seeing her new faceup!
Oh Jane - that edited shot of Arin is great. It's a shame they stopped selling boys, I can't imagine why they discontinued them even if they did sell more girls than boys. Perhaps a some emails asking if they''re going to make themavailable again would get them to bring them back - it's only one piece that's different from the girl body after all. Teddy
Coleen that is great to hear that Anneliese's new face-up is nearly complete........I can't wait to see it, so I can imagine how excited you must be. And I am glad you liked the photo Teddy ((hugs)) And good point about contacting DT. You are right they won't know if people don't ask!
I'm excited to show you Anneliese's new faceup! Pictures are courtesy of AngelToast. Anneliese has the same makeup palette as before, but she is now in keeping with her sister Lilianna. She looks more mature, but has a softer, shyer look than Lilianna. I can't wait until she arrives home.
She is still Anneliese *yippee* how clever of the artist. I hope she gets back home to you really soon as I can't wait to see the girls together again now!
Happy Halloween to you and your girls Martha! I love your display with them.........they even have a pet skeleton dog!!!
Love your photo of your girls Martha! Great props! I haven't had a chance to play with my girls or take pictures. I am still on the road, but coming off soon for a couple months, and I am having new hardwood flooring installed in several rooms so the house is rather chaotic. I did discover that my girls are changing wigs. Anneliese looks older with the darker wig and Lilianna looks better in the strawberry blonde wig.
I agree......she does have a much older look which is why I prefer her on the elfbody. I am not sure about her to be honest. She is beautiful (hauntingly so) there is no denying that........but she doesn't seem much else. What does everyone else think?
I have just seen that Dollstown is going to discontinue Mari. Since I have always wanted her, I am thinking about ordering her with the 5Y body.. Does anyone have Mari on the 5Y body to show me please? This is the only young body that I don't have, and I was hoping to get that body for her.
Theresa - I don't have her on a 5 yo body but I can put her on one and let you see. I should be able to do it tomorrow. Mari was one of my first Dollstown girls on the 7 yo body - She is still one of my favorites.
That would be great if it's not too much trouble Xiaoli. I don't want to miss out on her if at all possible, and I think that I might like the 5Y body with that cute face.
Theresa -- Here is Mari on the 5 yo body - she is oriental skin and the body is the new 5 yo body in fresh skin so there is a bit of color difference. Mari on 5 yo body by Martha David, on Flickr There are a few more photos on my flickr of her standing and kneeling. Hope this helps - I think it works.
I've always loved my little Miss Millie - I'm debating getting another one in a different color before they are all gone.
Miss Millie is gorgeous. I will say that I am rather sorry to see all the all sculpts slowly disappearing.......it seems as if I have got left in the past whilst DT have moved forward *sigh*
I took the plunge.. ordered Mari and the 5Y body while the bodies were also discounted. Hubby helping out for Christmas gift. Could not pass up Mari before she was gone.
Well done and huge congratulations Teresa. I am so pleased for you..........and what a lovely husband you have!
I know that feeling. Soyu is the only head left that I want, I'll have to keep an eye on the site to make sure she won't disappear before I can get her.
I think you might be okay about Soyu as that is a fairly new sculpt *fingers crossed* And how about a 1st December photo .... Penelope, Hazel and Susie (Deogi, Seola7 and Ganga)
Thanks Coleen......I was pleased to get a photo of them. Lately I have been rather lazy about taking photos of the dolls and seem to have hit an 'I can't be bothered' stage!
I love those sweaters that your girls are wearing Jane! They look adorable in them. Can't wait to get a new Dollstown girl. To this day I continue to be smitten with them.
Thank you! The sweaters were knitted by two friends of mine....I love to see my dolls in handknits. Me too.........me too! There is something absolutely magical about a Dollstown doll
My two Ganga girls have written their letters to Father Christmas I am in serious need of some new dresses and skirts for my dolls......poor Susie looks as if she will burst out of that top she is squeezed into! LOL! I will look on Etsy later tonight.
Do you have any girls on the 5Y body Jane? If so, what clothing do you find that fits them nicely please?
I only have DT7 girls Teresa. I did have a DT5 girl once for a very short time and she used to wear some 'regular' size MSD Volks clothes.....but she was the old DT5 body I think the newer one is slightly larger. Martha and Teddy have DT5 girls so they should be able to help
Well poo! For some reason, I stopped getting notifications about posts to this thread - I just thought it had gone quiet because people were busy and not posting, but I was wrong. Oh well, I'll read back through the posts I've missed and catch up. Teddy
I have 5 and 7 yo bodies - I make their clothing so can't tell you where to buy. There isn't a real difference between the new and old bodies regarding clothing fitting.
