Oh my goodness Teddy, I remember now!!! For the life of me I cannot remember how I made it though as I only would have had the 7yr body.....I'll have to go and look at old commissions photos to see if I can refresh my memory! Thanks for posting this photo and taking me down Memory Lane! I also never realised that GraceFaerie did patterns specifically for this size.....off to look there too Thanks so much for that! xx
The seven year body gives you an idea of the build of the Elf body. Several items that were made for the Elf body were a reasonable fit on the 7Year body in all but length. Thanks Teddy. Hopefully tomorrow I am going to get my hands on my bigger doll patterns and see what I can adapt
I finally received my Elf body a couple of days ago. My Dandelion by Bimong looks so lovely now, the body is so 'long' and elegant, I love it!
Thank you very much @smilingcrescent The colour match is really good. I got Oriental and it really does match the head nicely. Thanks very much @tanjalalie I'm really pleased with her. Thank you @Lynn G. The resin is a really good match.
Thanks very much @Teddy, I'm very pleased with the match...and the girl too of course!! Thank you @theresa 226 I am the same, I really love the Dandelion sculpt and the body is perfect for her. Now I just need to make her some clothes to wear and get her to tell me her name
If anyone is on the fence about ordering an Elf body from Dollstown, they are currently on sale on their site, they have 20% off at the moment, so the bodies that were $370 are now down to $296!!! The discount runs from now until the 7th December! As for me, I'm still waiting for my Oriental Copper body to arrive. I ordered it on the 5th August and was told it would be about two months.....it's now almost 4 and her Black Cherry Dolls head has arrived today and is waiting patiently for her body!!
Love your Dandelion/DT Elf gal @dambuster01 !!! Looks like a perfect hybrid - and so beautiful! Oh my @JinCIncy - Maisie is *so* beautiful!! Love that wig on her too!!! I'd like to share my fairly new gal Millie - also a Maru/DTelf gal. I just finished making her a new nightgown (scaled the Adams-Harris "Dreaming" pattern for DTelf gals). The fabric is imported French batiste with a self stripe. I used French cotton beading and edging laces and a small piece of French cotton insertion at the bodice center front. Millie has a OOAK angora wig by @FunnyLori and 14mm Dollbakery eyes. Her lovely manicure was done by @Jay - I love how more realistic it makes her hands look!
Just because Maddie got a new style dress from Period Threads. I love the color on her and the material is so drapey and nice. Copper Tones by wizgerg3, on Flickr
Love that dress @JinCIncy ! My dandelion/elf hybrid (this top was made for F60 which is great for a slight oversize feeling).
@Teddy no lol. I've been putting glasses on her for years with no damage as my work is durable and I'm careful... and even if I did damage her, I can just paint her again. That said, loads of people put glasses on dolls with no damage so it never even occurred to me to worry.
Thanks. It's just that I noticed that there are no nose-pads on those glasses, and it occured to me that the ends of the metal either side of the nose could potentially be scratches just waiting to happen, so I had to ask. Teddy
@Teddy Yeah, on some subconscious level I've been careful with these, but the elf body is tippy too so this girl has definitely tried to face-plant during shoots, and I've had to catch her/etc with glasses sliding. No issues at all.
My little rainbow fairy arrived home from Vitta-Vera today...………..I love the graduation of color on her ears..... Viri Home by wizgerg3, on Flickr
@dambuster01 your Dandelion is so lovely! It looks like the DTelf body is a perfect fit! @JinCIncy I *adore* your Maddie - and your rainbow elf is absolutely charming!!! I’d like to share my little gal Wren (DTelf Soyu) who just got new Dollbakery 14mm Sublime eyes and a ‘new’ wig from Iplehouse. It’s a tad large on her so I may have to sew in a tuck in the back but I like the “rose-pink” color for her. She was beautifully painted several years ago by @Jay .
Sharing my "re-imagined" Maru...…………...she originally arrived with a DT face up, and while it was nice, the eyebrows were much more "red" than they looked in the promos and she just never "clicked" with me. I finally decided I wanted something different for her and asked Akiko (Vitta Vera) to redo her for me. I was inspired by the fairy tale stories of Snow White/Rose Red and wanted her to have dark brows and "berry" kissed lips. Here is the result. I think she turned out beautiful! Thanks all...………..I've been having fun with her. I'm so happy with how her face up turned out. A Doll's Doll by wizgerg3, on Flickr
Hello! I made a kimono for a friend with an Elf Body doll, and took some photos... (ah, sorry, the post button is not the preview button...) The kimono is made of vintage silk kimono that was damaged. I took it apart, washed it extensively (please note that there are particular ways to wash kimono), and cut it to fit this lovely girl. The yellow hair flowers were sort of a spur of the moment decision that took about a week to make, and those are called "kanzashi" or "tsumami zaiku" , a kind of silk art craft. Here's one:
Somehow I stopped getting new-post alerts for several threads including this one...Sorry to have been absent for so long folks. Teddy
Wow, @smilingcrescent , her kimono is beautiful!! Beautiful doll as well! What head is on the body? Took some new pics of my Maru girls this week. Brunette on the left is by VittaVera, blonde on the right by Lyn Raftis. Their gorgeous dresses are by Robyn of Period Threads. Two Maru Girls by wizgerg3, on Flickr
I recently ordered Dollmore's Breathtaker outfit. My DT Elf Luna is one of the dolls who enjoys wearing it.
I didn't know Dollmore did clothes to fit the elf body.... EDITED TO ADD: Oooh! They do it in yellow! Now, there's temptation. Teddy
Technically the clothes are made to fit their Youth Eve (SD) size, which is taller and more developed than the elf body. In some styles it won't matter, while in others it will. You have to judge it outfit by outfit. I should add that the clothes are very good quality. This dress is made for DM by Ajumapama.
But it really helps when someone posts pretty pictures of how good it looks on their doll - Thanks! Teddy
They do. Problem is there's not much to choose from unless you bought a Zaoll with a decent fullset. I know. I jumped on it when he announced its discontinuation. Didn't want to risk missing out. As I mentioned above, there's not much to choose from. I buy Zaoll jeans and shoes for my Soom ID51 guy and my FID men. I for one would appreciate a few more feminine looking things in this size. Here's a pic without the bonnet:
DollHearts still has several outfits left in this style in size SD10/13. That's the size I usually get for DT and Zaoll.
Thanks for the tip - but they're all too adult-style for a little girl of 11 or 12 to be wearing. Teddy
Yeah, the majority of my SD size gang are under fourteen, most of them clustered around the 10/11/12 year old range. The Elf body girl is little sister to a girl on the 13 body. Eventually, they'll both spend most of their time in shorts, shorts and red knit caps, ready to go sailing and be piratical. But I want them to have some clothes for when they're at home and on-best-behaviour. Teddy
@Teddy - Have you looked at Dollmore's Illua line? The dolls themselves look babyish and chubby, but the essential measurements (chest, waist, hips) are only a tiny bit larger than the elf body's. Although the line has been around a few years, clothing choices are limited--three age-appropriate dresses and one floor-length black outfit that elicits the question: What were they thinking? The three age-appropriate dresses fit the category of party wear or Sunday best.
They're the mini version of the Lusion dolls, right? Yes, the three dresses read more generic-party-dress than specifically 1920's/30's child, but thanks for pointing them out. I have one antique doll dress that fit's and is the right sort of style... ... and I've made a dress for each of them using the 1920's "one our frock" instructions, so they're not completely devoid of outfits, and I expect to have to make most of the clothing for both of them. I'm just sort of keeping my eye open in case something suitable is commercially available. Teddy
Yeah, they're the mini Lusions. I forgot about the 20's/30's aspect. That antique dress is darling--as well as ageless. It also appears to be in fabulous condition. I did a quick search of "antique doll dress patterns" and came up with a whole bunch of stuff for all different sizes of dolls. A lot of it seems to be on Etsy. There seems to be plenty to choose from.
You're right - And I'm very lucky in that respect. Now, if I could only get around to doing al the sewing I have plans for, I'd be all set. Teddy
Just catching up with all the chat and photos......I didn't seem to get any notifications so had no idea the thread was active again
