Resin Comparison Dollstown body/head/resin matches?

I received my Dollstown Io head a few days ago actually, and the skin tone is unlike anything I've ever seen before. It has a creamy light beige hue but with an underlying gray tone. It doesn't seem to match any of my other dolls at all. I can take pics of the head tomorrow in comparison with a few of my other dolls if that will help.

 

Yeah, the gray undertone is difficult to work with, kind of like AiL is difficult for the same reason. This question comes up a lot, so I'm sure the more pictures we can provide the better. ^__^

OK so you have seen my estella boy as a girl on the dragondolls FIRST GENERATION body and on a senior delf body.

Here she is on an Impl doll body, and next to her, again the dragondolls first gen body (wearing a limwha half-elf head)

the dragondolls body does have a pretty big swayback going on... but when she's seated it's kind of cute, and from the front it doesn't show.


I chose the dragondolls first gen as my final decision because I think the torso on the impl doll looks almost abnormally long, and also, no part of the torso was jointed. For poseability, I at least wanted 1 joint in the torso.

Would an Estella boy head work on a 13 girl body, or would it be too freakishly huge? (I read through the thread looking for this but didn't see it-- I'm sorry if I missed it.)

 

check out my pics of my Afton (estella boy, nose sanded a little) on sd13 large bust. it's not BAD, in fact, it is almost just right IMHO, but it does seem that the body should be JUST a little bigger. faceup by Cristy Stone.

I am getting her a dragondolls first generation body. hopefully will be here soon.

The Estella boy isn't any bigger than the original Estella, but the heads are big for the Dollstown bodies, so it's up to your own judgement and preference. Here's a pic of the combo on Dollstowns site.

Since there have been new questions about Volks white matches, here's an FCS white Volks F-31 (meant to fit an SD13 boy body) on a paleskin Dollstown 15 girl body.

Volks FCS white has a slightly creamier tone than DT paleskin.

 

I just received my Dollstown mini Elysia boy (freshskin) on a 7 yr old body, with an extra body as well.
As this is one of the smaller 7 yr old DT heads, I took some pictures to show what it would look like on a Planetdoll body and vice versa, though I only have the - smaller - 41 cm girl body (NS), but both a 43 cm PD head (Emma) and a 41 cm PD head (Katie).

Here he's wearing one of Katie's (and Soom Tuff's) shirts.
His (freshskin) head on Katie's 41 cm body (NS). It actually doesn't look as bad as I thought it would size-wise, so it would be interesting to see what it would look like on a 43 cm PD body. His wig is actually a size 6-6,5 inch! one from Leeke, though one that might be a bit on the larger side (Leeke wigs tend to vary slightly within the same size). But I've used it on a smaller MSD head previously (Soom Tuff) so it might also have stretched a bit. (I'd ordered several 6-6,5 inch ones at the same time, and there wasn't a huge difference in sizes.)
Here's a shot of PD Katie's 41 cm head, PD Emma's 43 cm head and DT mini Elysia. There's quite a difference in size between the heads for the smaller and larger Planetdoll MSD body.
I'll post some more pictures of PD Emma's head on the Dollstown 7 yr old body next to mini Elysia on his, a little later.

And here are the promised pictures of Planetdoll Emma head (43 cm, NS) and mini Elysia (freshskin), both on the 7 yr old Dollstown body:
Emma's head is a bit more pink IRL, but with the right face-up, a bit of body blushing and some MSC, it should work!

I took some pictures comparing mini Elysia (freshskin) and Soom Tuff (cream skin) as well, will post these a little later too...

 

To answer a question back a ways - the DT pale skin is VERY white. Paper white. So it would not be a good match with Volks white.

I currently have my DT Amy freshskin head on a Spiritdoll white skin Elegance body. I love this combination! And the Spiritdoll Elegance body poses so much better than the DT 13 body.The fit and resin color match is fabulous! If anyone is interested, I'll post pictures.

The one thing I'm not crazy about is the Spiritdoll body has really small hands. So I'm going to replace with Dollstown hands.

Hello! My freshskin Elysia temporary on Spiritdoll Proud white skin. I think its a very good match) The head is too big so 65+ body looks good...

 

Here is DollsTown paleskin (body) against PeaksWoods white(head). Its a pretty good match, but I think freshskin would be better. PW white is more noticably pink while paleskin is straight up white.

 

Hey everyone. Here is my "Freshskin" Suzie on a 60cm elfdoll body. I m really happy with the match.

 

I read before that DT freshskin matches with 5SD white - it is not right! White skin should be better with DT paleskin. And 5SD SD-body is not good for SD size DT head, because 5SD body is too small for it.

 

Just so that there's no room for doubt in the future: Volks pureskin normal DOES NOT MATCH Dollstown orientalskin. Maybe it has in the past, but the present formulations don't. I can't speak for the other Volks resins, but Volks NS will not match anything from DT/Dollshe.

And for future reference (you may have seen it elsewhere but seems like I never posted it here):

Dollstown freshskin is a virtually perfect match with Crobidoll soft white (LE resin colour). This is a Crobidoll Lance head on a DT 15-year girl body (with a significant breast reduction mod), and both resin tone and proportions match.

 

Blossom Doll Hyacinth on 18yo body. Hyacinth is WS, body is paleskin. Resin match is not perfect (body's paper white, no hue at all, and head has some hue), but it works for me. Proportion-wise head is a bit small for the body, but I got used to it, and the right wig can make a huge difference. Head sits well on the body.

Dollstown 7 years girl oriental 2013 + Ninodoll Woo.U 2009, the neck is sanded and shortened. Ninodoll normal is close to Volks. Actually the colours are not as different as in the photo and I think that if the head and the body were made in the same year, they would match even better.

Dollmore kid Pado on a Dollstown 7yr boy body, in Freshskin, next to Vian on his own DM body:




As expected, Pado does look a little pinheaded on this body, and his neck looks a bit large for the head. (Head mobility on the neck is o.k., though.)
It's hard to capture, but IRL the neck looks a little odd, like his chin is sort of resting on the adam's apple, and he's got some thyroid issues. But that's something just a bit of sanding should be able to fix.

And I have to say, once I got more used to seeing him on this huge body (for my character anyway: I've normally got him on a teeny Custom House Little Junior body!) he doesn't look that bad at all. The proportions are much like that of many scaled down SD13s, or any SD17, I'd say.

As for the resin match, both the DM and DT resins have mellowed over time (think both are from 2011), and the freshskin is actually a pretty decent match for the NS head (now), especially as the head gets a bit lighter anyway when spraying with MSC during a face-up.

 

@salvarion, I've found Dollshe/Dollstown freshskin works well with almost all of the Soom cream whites. I think the oldest hybrid of that sort I have is a 2010 Breccia head on a year-old Dollshe freshskin body. I also hybrid Soom female heads with Luts SDF bodies and males with the SSDF body. The Luts white has a pink cast to it.

 

@Khell It's been dark and rainy any time I've had a moment to take new photos, but I have a recent crappy phone picture of a white F-38 (2011) and my paleskin Elysia (2008). Volks is a shade more pink, but a face-up would easily disguise that.

 

@St. James Thank you so much for the pic! That sounds awesome - she's already got a face-up that's definitely on the pink side so I guess the fit would be good enough, which is great news! Thanks! (A gorgeous couple by the way - love your Elysia!)

Well, at least they are available from online FCS now. I should have asked which body type you were hoping to get, I could have just put her on that body.

 

Thanks for offering that but I already know that an SD16 Volks body will work great for her proportion-wise. I got her on a NS one right now and though I don't really care about the mis-matched resin colours all too much I still hope to one day get her on one that fits better, colour-wise. And it's gotta be a Volks SD16 body because - well, she's my "new" Alice from my Wonderland Crew (as I call them). I so did not plan to get her at all (and Alice was supposed to be an Emma head on that SD16 body) but when I saw that Elysia head here on the Marketplace I just HAD to snatch her because that face-up - instant love! So she's my new Alice now and since I already got that Alice dress that was custom-made for a Volks SD16 girl body ... *shrugs* No way around it. :P

 

Hi there, I'm wondering if anybody knows how IOS WS would match with Dollstown resins? IOS WS is pretty creamy.

 

I love the newer Dollstown 15 year old boy body and what is a good match for there orientalskin? I want a boy head.

 

Dollstown white skin is super white. But the fresh skin might work with your creamy white IOS.

 

@Jay A dollstown doll owner! May I ask when you ordered yours? I'd love a Sooha head, but can't figure out if the wait times are as bad as Dollshe ones (since they're using dollshe for the casting... I'm a bit worried). Thank you

 

Most of mine are older. But I ordered a Lucille head just last year and she came a few months later! No two or more year wait.

 

@Jay Thank you, that's lovely to hear! That suggests dollshe prioritises clients over their own casting, which is great news in this case Time to take the plunge

 

Also does anyone know the head circumference of the Sooha head, or any other 18yr heads? I find it weird they give the neck dimensions, but not the head circumference!

EDIT: Dollstown responded, head circumference is 8.5 inches!
