Bake_Neko...Your Soi is so cute as a boy/your boy is adorable. I love the personality of him! Makes me so want another DollsTown doll...
Point taken haha!!! Without the dreamy light he's pretty dark. I wouldn't want to come across him at night
I received a reply from Dollstown (I asked why the website showed me that Amy's head had to be pre-ordered, and that I found that strange since she first showed as in-stock). Amy was indeed in stock, luckily, and she'll be shipped next week! I'm going on a two-week vacation next week, so with a little luck she'll be waiting for me at my dads when I get back. I hope so!
I knew that they would sort it all for you Wiske And how about a photo from me of Bindi (DT Bandi is the old pinky-white resin colour) I have got out of the habit of taking Bindi out with me on day trips, but when I first got her I did it all the time. It is just that the older I get, the heavier the travel bag seemed to get! LOL!
Haha! Well they're not tinies that you can pop into your bag or pocket, SD's must be quite an undertaking to take out! Seeing your picture I think taking her out is well worth it, though. Taking them out into nature is so much fun ... I love taking my dolls with me on walks so I can take pictures when I come across a pond, or a good view or anything.
solitary agent~ Thank you! C: mdonline03~ I'm so lucky I only reeeallly liked Soi enough to buy... but I love their bodies so much that I am in danger of those! haha Wiske~ I'm sure that physically, he wouldn't really hurt anybody...! XD Congrats for your girl! I wish I ever experienced the feeling when you only had to wait for your doll for a week or two! Same here, Jane. And I despaired about this change... now I'm too lazy to bring more than one big doll even to a meet, not to mention trips. u____u
Wiske, congratulations!!!! I think you'll love DT sooo much!!! Jane, Bindi is so pretty!!!! Bake_Neko, your Soi is my fav, and I love him with that wig. I know we have this pic for the skin comparison, but has anyone another pic only with freshskin and oriental skin?? a full doll?? Thank you in advance!!! My Elysia (DT15) Olivia by eva197319, en Flickr
Yes Bake_Neko, it's a new thing for me too! Such a short wait. I must say it's a very, very nice contrast from my usual Fairyland waits. I'm also waiting for a Minifee but with the way Fairyland is going right now it will probably be november or december before she arrives. I like it that Amy will come home sooner, but longer waits also have their plus. More time to collect wigs, shoes and eyes for them!
Jane - I love seeing your Bindi. She has so much personality! I really need more girl dolls. Bake_Neko - umm yep, I'm on the DollsTown body train too. I love their bodies and embarrassed to admit I'm just looking for excuses to buy more dolls just so I can get another DT body. I'll actually pick up another from my new LLT head - so my wish comes true but my wallet is in serious denial. Evichan - Your Elysia is enchanting. Sorry I only have a fresh skin at the moment…I'll have an oriental skin in a few months I suspect, since they are pre- order only right now.
Graham got his own body! Turns out the Sweet Dolls boy body is actually a tiny bit shorter than the JDF, just like I wanted (despite the fact that he's supposed to be 57 cm and JDF is supposed to be 56 cm.)
I finally got Yujin's face done. He doesn't have a name yet - maybe Jack. Try my Hat by Xiaoli2004, on Flickr
Solitary Agent and Xiaoli, thanks so much for all the spammings . Gorgeous dolls, each! I'm back with more questions, hope you don't mind providing a Dollstown nooblet with some answers ! It regards shopping for clothes and shoes. Which brands have you found that suit Dollstown 13 year girls well? Do they have similar sizes to certain other dolls? Which shoebrands work for them? It's quite hard since when you search for "SD" you get to see EVERYTHING made for all dolls of 60CM or taller. I'm hestitant to just buy random stuff, since I like a proper fit and have no idea whatsoever if the fit will be right. I'm very interested in your suggestions, especially considering shoes!
I can finally (sort of) join this thread again...I just painted my new Elysia yesterday - I am so happy to have a DT girl in my collection again...I've missed them!!! Elysia by dollfanz, on Flickr[/IMG]
Thank you so much Theresa I too adore Elysia's sculpt and missed my first one. Yay, right back into DT...and I have a Mari coming next week - WOOHOO
Aw, Dollfanz, so glad you finally got your Elysia, I remember you saying you were missing your DTs earlier in the Summer. She is super cute
Thank you so much vonbonbon Elysia is the first, but I am already contemplating an Estella. DT's are like chips - very addictive and you can't just have one I guess
I'm so excited to have found this thread since my 13 yo Ariel was my first bjd. I bought her in 2008. I was thinking of selling her because I no longer liked her default face up. But when I went to Dollism I saw many beautiful DT dolls with absolutely gorgeous faces so I was able to get her scheduled for a new face up in October. I'm so excited because I've always loved her and think that a more dramatic look will make her feel like new to me. Here she is modeling my 60s outfit for the couture contest with her default face up. [/IMG]
I love this 60's outfit! I really admired it when I first saw it in the contest. Awesome. I do hope that we met at Dollism Pony! I was there with My DT Elysia, and met so many nice people. Here is a photo I took of her at one of the backdrop sets. Who will you be sending your Ariel to for her new faceup? Spoiled girl got a few hats at the hat booth and a new outfit from Valerie Zeitler while we were in Buffalo. DSCN0145 by terridoll2, on Flickr[/IMG]Wh
Oh, she's so pretty! Maybe she was one of the DT girls I saw there! I love her hat and dress. Seeing the Beautiful fashions on the DT girls also really helped me decide to give Ariel a new look. I can't wait to make her an outfit while her head is off for a face up. Thank you for the compliments on her 60s outfit. I had so much fun making it! I hope we met too! I'm not sure because my eyes were drawn to all the dolls I saw. It was fascinating to see so many different sculpts. I loved the DT dolls in one of the room sales on the third floor. They really are beautiful dolls. Angel Toast will be doing her face up. I wanted something dramatic and I think she'll give my doll a beautiful look. I just ordered some new eyes from a shop on etsy for her. I'm tired of her green eyes even though they're very pretty. So she's getting 2 different colors of blue eyes and one brown pair. Does anyone have the Ariel sculpt? If so could you post pictures so I can see different face ups on her? Thanks! I got a chance to go through this thread and see all of your dolls and their outfits. Love them! The face up artist in Maine really does a beautiful job with the DT sculpts. And I love the different outfits. It's inspiring! I have some deep red silk that I want to use for Ariel. My favorite wigs for her are a plantinum blonde straight wig, a chocolate brown long layered wig and an auburn mohair. So I'm thinking of blue eyes and dark brown eyelashes and eyebrows for her with more shading around the nose and in the wells of the eyes. What do you think?
I was at Dollism. I met so many great people there. PONY, I saw your ensemble in the contest! Theresa, I wish I had seen you with Estella! I was carrying Ganga most of the time and saw no one else carrying a DT. Val's display was beautiful and we had a minute when it was quiet to chat...well, I guess you could say I gushed. I took my Seola to the faceup class hoping to improve. I got some decent brows but had to agree it is easier to begin with pastel shading.
I am probably way behind but I just had a quick look at the DT site and I see they are available in all the Dollshe skin colours now, makes for an amazing range as I always wished they did something between orientalskin and pale tan.
Hello. Please let me introduce you my Alexandra - Dollstown Soi. I've modded her nose a bit to make it thinner. And I do love her serious and sad face. DT sculpts are very special, for real. DSC_0048 by Kuroki Hiro, on Flickr
Your Soi is so pretty! Congratulations. I adore her pale lashes and light hair. Seems to suit her so well.
Thanks for the photos of your dolls! I dont have dollstown dolls yet, but I`m planing Io on 13yr body someday
Pony, thanks so much That's one of my best face-ups for now, though I need to make her lower eyelashes and eyebrows a bit more bright (white).
I absolutely love the Dollstown 15 yr old body I'm not into muscular dudes and I think they're so detailed! Does anyone have a resin comparison pic between their Pale Skin and Milk Pale color choices?
Before and After. [/IMG] I'm so excited! I just received my Ariel back from AngelToast and absolutely love her new face up! I'm so glad I decided to try a new face up instead of selling her. I love my very first BJD more than ever! I guess she's getting old since I got her in 2008 but it feels so nice to be excited about her all over again.
Oh she is lovely....that was brave to send off a doll to be repainted that you have had for so long but in this case your bravery has paid off. I am so pleased for you. What colour resin is she please?
Would this link help? https://www.flickr.com/photos/dollstowngallery/7802337242/in/set-72157631112988050 *oops* I meant to edit this message into the above reply
Thank you! Ariel's resin is fresh skin. It's closer in color to the before images on my iPad. I had Andrea add some piercings after the after images were taken. So she now has studs in her ear lobes and two hoops on her upper left ear.
What an amazing and beautiful transformation for your Ariel! New face is gorgeous. What a difference a change can make, to keep a doll that we might have otherwise let go.
Thank you! I really learned about the beauty of a custom face up when I went to Dollism and saw all the beautiful faces on the dolls that were carried past me in the halls. Before that I always went with default faces.
Merry Christmas to all from Catherine and Me. I wish you all a beautiful year. DSCN0540 by terridoll2, on Flickr[/IMG]
I can't help with a doll that would work with the DT18 body either Becky....there is a DT18 discussion thread here somewhere. I think somebody there might be able to help you And Merry Christmas Theresa.......what a wonderful photo of your girl
theresa 226: Catherine is beautiful Merry Christmas, everyone! The Dollstown 18 discussion is here: http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php/423742-Dollstown-18-year-boys-and-girls
I missed wishing you and Catherine a Merry Christmas but I will also wish you a beautiful year! Catherine looks so pretty in her Holiday dress!
My SD Dollstown gang as they are at the moment.... Two Bandi girls A Mui and a boy Daisy on the newer DT15 body I still love the DT sculpts so much.
I love your SD Dollstown family! I just bought a Little Rebel Seven head and am really hoping it'll match my DT f13 yo girls fresh skin resin because I want to get the 15 yo boy body for it. My Ariel needs a boyfriend! I heard DT fresh skin might be a good match to Little Rebel normal. Jane, how do you like your boy body?
Good luck with the resin matching Pony I can't help there as I am too scared to play the hybrid game nowadays And I like the newer DT15 body but it is an entirely different body from the older DT15 body. I think they should have called the body a different name to be honest. I LOVE single joints so if I am only talking about the look, then I would choose the older one over the newer one as that would appeal aesthetically the most to me...plus it has that extra upper torso joint for a wonderful slouch. But as I don't have my dolls undressed and on display it doesn't matter. I like both versions, so long as I cover the *ugly* elbow and knee joints on the new body (but obviously that is my personal opinion about the joints) The older body looks best in Volks SD16/17 outfits The newer body can wear Volks SD13 size clothes with ease So as you can see they really are very different
Yes, that is a big difference. I like double joints for posability but I also dislike how they look when bent so most of my clothes are designed to hide them. They can still show through the clothes at times so for me it's a like/dislike situation. I also like the extra torso piece because of the posability. The new body doesn't offer it?
No the new DT15 only has the lower torso joint. NWS link to the Dollstown Flickr photostream https://www.flickr.com/photos/dollstowngallery/12151342404/ I think it looks like a much younger body than the old DT15 body too. And that suits me perfectly, as the Daisy lad I have on this body is a much younger character
Thought I would share a photo of Isabel - she is playing the snow queen again this winter. Isabel- the snow queen by Xiaoli2004, on Flickr Just a question - has wiring the legs helped with the Kicking?
Isabel looks stunning as the Snow Queen.....wow! And yes wiring the legs has made all the difference in the world to my dolls.........I wired Bindi's (Bandi) legs about a week and half ago No more swivel legs when I come to play with her *yippee* I used thick plastic coated armature wire bought from ebay.
Oh she looks great Jane Great news about the wiring! Would you mind sharing what size wire you got (and the seller if possible)?
I bought from this seller and for the SD dolls I use the 3.2mm wire http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Aluminium...afts_Other_Crafts_EH&var=&hash=item1e80cb99e2 There are tutorials on YouTube on how to wire a doll (as there is more than one way to do it) but this is how I do it.... I cut a long piece of wire that will go up from one leg through the lower torso and down through the other leg. I make sure the wire is about an inch and a half lower than the knee I bend the wire into a "U" shape Then I *pop* the doll at the lower torso and thread the wires down each leg Hey presto and the doll is wired!
Hello! I am currently waiting on a Hue head and am now looking into possible bodies (since I really love me a good upper torso joint ) I am not too worried about resin match but what's really important is that the proportions look okay. Does anybody know of some bodies the Hue head would work with? Thanks ^ - ^
