Oh boy…I've been stalking my artists blog for a while waiting for my Yujin to be finished and it looks like he is complete. Yeeee. I haven't seen the artists pictures yet, I'm a little nervous to be honest. I love her work, she's always done a wonderful job on the boys I've sent to her - but I don't know why little Yujin is particularly special. Anywho hopefully by next week I'll have some Yujin spam to post.
Thanks for the encouragement! I just got an email from my artist today with my boys final proofs…! But now that he's painted, he's asking for a different name and outfits ...but at least now I can formally do his shopping - he'll just have to borrow stuff in the meantime. Safe travels for your boy! He must have awesome frequent flyer miles…haha So pretty and regal!
So here is what happens when during the longest, coldest winter EVER - your main influences are the Disney movie Frozen and Downton Abbey - Meet Isa - The Frozen Flapper -- dress beading by Xiaoli2004, on Flickr Silver stretch velvet with crystal beading - snowflakes and the North Wind. The other girls are jealous but Isabel looked more like Elsa.
Xiaoli - Your girl is so wonderful and graceful looking - a classic pale lady. My boy is home! Yujin (freshskin). I love him! He's wearing a temp wig, eyes and clothes…and I'm flip flopping a little about his name but now that he's "complete" I can start shopping for his special items.
Thanks so much solitary agent & theresa 226! I'm just a little bit smitten with his cuteness at the moment…hehe.
Martha I love your flapper girl....that dress is amazing! *gasp* And your Yujin is wonderful mdonline I have loved every Yujin I have seen, what a wonderful sculpt it is. I am just so pleased for you. Good luck with the name hunt now.
I have finished my second flapper girl. Lucy got her dress finished this weekend. New Fickr so first is link to photo and others on flickr https://flic.kr/p/mQEyNq
Thank you! This little sculpt really is a charmer…I think he has 2 names, one name that's a secret name and another that's his common name. I'm also loving how strangely he's strung, some bits are tight and others are floppy and the over all affect is a very natural essence. Triple smitten - I think one of the things I like about them is that they definitely look like they're thinking or frozen in mid thought. Xiaoli - Lucy is such a classic looking little lady. I can see her at the polo matches...
Got some preview pics of my Yujin from the faceup artist. He looks great, I can't wait to have him home! I don't have a body for him yet, but I can stick him on my WS Little Monica boy to photograph him at least.
He's home! Actually, he's been home for a while, but I wasn't - I went on vacation and got back to two new dolls and two with new faceups! A nice thing to cheer me up since unfortunately I was very ill for most of my trip Anyway, here's my pale boy. His name is Graham and he's borrowing my Little Monica boy's body.
Oh how wonderful........solitary agent he is wonderful and the Little Monica boy's body looks a perfect match. Welcome to Graham!
Finally playing again. It was too pretty out today to keep my girls inside, so Catherine was one of the lucky ones to get a photoshoot with the few early flowers. It's been such a crummy, long winter here and things are starting to wake up, as am I. So here is my Elysia, my one and only big girl. [/IMG]
Theresa it is lovely to hear and see that you are able to play with your dolls again ((huge hugs)) and what a photoshoot I am *gobsmacked* by it to be honest.....amazing! I couldn't choose a favourite photo and the setting was just so pretty too............Catherine looks real!!! My husband even stopped to look at your Catherine as he walked past my laptop. I love how you have dressed her too.........did you make the dress? It is a perfect fit!!!
Thanks so much Jane. (Hug back) It's been a rough time, but dollies can help. Catherine is all that I dreamed of when wishing for my 13Y DT girl. I'm happy that you think she's real looking (even with violet eyes)! I wanted a bit darker eyes but these are what arrived and I can't bear to change them yet. Her dress was a purchase here on the Marketplace. Was a bit tight, but after moving the snaps, fit perfectly. I had originally thought that I would move the snaps IN and use it for the elf body, but it was more Catherine's style.
Quiet thread! I did a photoshoot today with Graham and his boyfriend, if anyone wants to look. If anyone wants to see lots of angles of Yujin, it's the place to go! Here's one of my favourites:
Solitary agent you can post as much Yujin spam as you like. Are we the only two in the thread that have him?
Just catching up with this thread and looking at everyone's lovely DT's. I haven't been able to play dollies for so long but last week I managed to get some time to myself and made a new dress for Alicia/Estella. Fingers crossed I will get to see a bit more of my dolls over the Summer
She looks lovely, nice to hear from you again Yve, I should take some photos of mine but seems to be all work at the moment and no play.
Yve she looks fabulous and I so love that dress you made for her so much. Good luck in getting some more dolly playtime again very soon and Avril I wish the same for you too!
Catherine got some attention from DH with his new camera. I am so smitten with this girl. [/IMG]
Really Lovely Elysia, Theresa! Yes, Avril and Jane, let's hope we all get to play dollies a lot more.... and ... errrr, eventually have a SUMMER!
Thank you Jane, Yve. I have to say I absolutely adore her too. I totally agree that more dolly time is definitely in order.
Just loved catching up on this thread (I somehow lost my subscription, but found the thread again - phew...) Everybody's DT girls and boys are just sooo gorgeous After selling all my DT girls, I found myself regretting it (isn't that always the way???) So I have now invested in two replacement heads, while I save up for the bodies... can't wait to join the thread again with some new girls!!
OMG Tania, no DT's? Are you having withdrawal? LOL Best of luck with your newly acquired girls. Hugs.
Hey just subscribed to this thread. Since... in the near future I will be ordering my first Dollstown girl! I've been dreaming of a Dollstown doll since 2010. I used to long for Yeondu, but knowing mine would never, never ever hit the level of perfection that Candygears reached with her Clean Slate, I decided to go for another sculpt instead. I picked Amy in Oriental Skin on the 13-year old body, and will try my first hand on face-ups and perhaps tiny mods on her. I never did that with a doll before but with this girl, I think I have the confidence. I will also sew and knit for her. I do have some questions though! Since she takes size 9 wigs, should I go for 8-9" wigs or are 9-10" wigs better? Do I need to get extra tools such as elastic, S-hooks and sanding paper or will I be alright without? And most importantly, is there anything else you want to share with new Dollstown owners? So excited!
Hiya Wiske Amy is one of the smaller DT heads so you should be fine with 8-9. All my girls share the same wigs even Estella "Pumpkin Head". As you are getting the 13 yr body it might be good to hot-glue her joints. See how you do with her legs and maybe if you still find them hard to handle, use some wire inside the leg wells. DT legs can take a bit of getting used to! They are such beautiful and characterful dolls though, it's well worth the effort. I'm sure you will love your new girl I Look forward to seeing her.
I agree with vonbonbon Wiske you will need to glue suede her body the instant it gets to your house, otherwise it is likely to drive you mad! And I do wire my dolls too, using Aluminium Armature Wire 3.25 mm bought from ebay. I so hope you can order your Amy really soon, she is such a pretty sculpt Do let us know when you do order her please!
Thanks for all the tips! I got lucky, my boyfriend wanted to help me out to help me get her sooner, so I just placed the order! I am a bit worried though, since straight after I did the paypal payment I got a message among the lines of: "Warning! Head Amy Oriental Skin not in stock. Should be backordered." or something along those lines. While before I placed the order the site said she was in stock! I am not sure if I got the last Amy in stock or if they miscalculated and she will be pre-ordered. I just e-mailed them to ask, but I'm still worried. I'm very happy that you shared your tips with me. I only own fairyland dolls besides Amy and those pose very well without wires or sueding, so I have no idea how to do those things. In the four years I've been in this hobby I never even restrung a doll! I'm very excited though since I've always wanted a doll who needs a bit more work. I think it will help the bonding. Do you know a good tutorial on hot-glue sueding?
Congrats Wiske...I have a DT boy 15yr and just adore him. Their bodies really are lovely (heads too of course) I haven't wired or sueded him but I can see why the other folks recommended it. Totally curious to know what you think once you get your girl. Hope she will arrive soon!
Oh yes!!! I am so pleased for you. And Mr Anjonghak will answer your email in the morning so please don't worry.....the customer care at DT is amazing! And here is a YouTube link on glue sueding....it is really easy and quick to do. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aeN5wvSDSAs
The sueding seems like a very easy thing to do! I'm definitely going to do that first. And I just asked my dad what armature wire is called in Dutch and he said he had some laying around, in the right size too! By the way Jane, thanks for the eyecandy, that guy had very interesting teeth. And that's a good thing How are the Dollstown girls with seamlines? Do they need lots of sanding? I find the idea of spending hours sanding down seams very comforting somehow ...
My DT dolls don't seems to have seam lines but I will check again tomorrow ............and glue sueding is easy!
I was so busy that I (think?) I forgot to intruduce my Soi boy to the thread! I ordered him in Fresh skin on the new 15y body. (Which I really love. Poses better than some of my torso jointed ones! But I especially like the sitting and legs. *sigh* ) Not the proper wig, outfit or eyes yet, but at least I'm done with the faceup. I named him Rory.
Rory is gorgeous. I agree with Jane. His painting is amazing! How did you paint these light transparent freckles?
Thank you! I love him to bits already... although sometimes I wish I haven't painted his expresion so fierce. You know, when you just see him glaring at you from a random spot! haha Wiske~ I usually use a mixture of very carefully splattering them on and then adjusting, wiping a few and then adding more with a brush, each individually.
I totally didn't see his glare, haha! His eyebrows were covered by his hair so I didn't realize. To me he looked like a gentle soul ...
Lol, that's true, they are mostly covered. I laughed though, because... 'gentle soul' and I just usually see this: (random shot when I noticed)
