Dollstown 13yr & 15yr Discussion - part three

Sep 9, 2013

    1. Theresa, Elysia looks amazing ..Sally does the best work :)

Xiaoli , Lucy and Soi both look Fantastic , Sally has such a talent about her work .:)

    2. I've never sent a girl away to be done before. I really loved seeing Sally's work so decided that these two would be the lucky ones.

    3. I also found it amazing how Sally just 'knew' just how I imagined my girl and painted her perfectly.

      Thank you Mary.

I am so glad that I sent her to such a talented, wonderful artist.
It's been really frigid and damp here in the Northwest so my girl will probably get sent on Monday provided Sally can seal her tomorrow. So I hope (fingers crossed) that she will be here by Wednesday, Jane. I am going to have some fun shopping, but not sure of the 'style' that I would like her to have yet.

Those two girls turned out beautifully Xaioli.

    4. Sally does absolutely amazing work! This is my Mini-Elysia painted by Sally:

I also had a Seola7 painted by Sally, but I traded her to a friend for her Seola7 with a Dollstown face up. I see my former girl often, and I know she fits in with her new family just perfectly, as does the girl I traded for. :)

    5. Thank you everyone for sharing Sally's beautiful faceup photos. They're so beautiful.

    6. Your Bandi is stunning! I would never have recognised her, so different to my Connnie Lowe face up.

    7. Please! who is Sally ?... (face up)

    8. Sally Chander is a wonderfully talented artist AKA Lilygami. She is located in Maine USA, and you can find her on Flikr (Lilygami)

    9. Sharing My Amy[IMG]

    10. Gosh! :D
She is a stunning doll..........lucky you having her. I love that face-up too. I have never seen an Amy sculpt in real life but I think she is such a pretty doll.

    11. Thanks, I really like Amy and although my lighting wasn't the best this is my face-up

    12. I'd been eyeing Yujin for a while, and on a bit of an impulse bought the head today :D He's in stock so I should have him in just a couple of weeks. He's only my second tan doll (I got him in light tan.) It'll be a while before I can afford his body, but I can't wait to see him. He's my first Dollstown doll.

    13. I finally have my 13yo girls set up and their personalities are starting to show (It's taken a year to get Lucy (Lucille) and Anna (Soi) ready to join Isabel (Amy).
They have taken over the sewing room.

    14. solitary agent - wow, another person who got Yujin! Congrats! (I got him in fresh skin and he's also my first Dollstown) I can't wait to see the pale tan version. Please post pics as soon as you get him.

    15. I am looking forward to seeing all these Yujin's arrive and have their face-up's soon :dance

      And Martha!! *gasp* :D
I LOVE that sewing room!!! And it is SD size.......this is only a before breakfast dash in here but I will be back to look at your whole set on Flickr much later tonight!
      It is brilliant!!! :abow:

    16. I got J. Dollstown shipped amazingly fast. I ordered last Tuesday.

Not sure if I should post in the 18yr or 15yr thread since they show him on both bodies?

Well, I plan on putting the head on a girl body because I like the face for my angry sullen vampire girl. I originally wanted a Hyun head but I liked J better when I saw it (I'd been poking around the Dollstown website for a while to see if they would have a sale on the Hyun head). The two heads look kinda like siblings. Can't wait to get some face-upping in.

    17. Nice photo Xaioli. Your girls are getting as creative as you!

I really adore J's face! Almost reminds me of a male Elysia.

    18. I actually contacted Dollstown today to ask if I could switch my head from pale tan to paleskin. :sweat I had a character in mind with tan skin, but once I started looking at owner photos, the "pale tan" is really too dark for him! And I also decided that Yujin's sweet face suited another character of mine better - my tan boy needs to look a bit devious. At least the paleskin should be easier to hybrid. Anyway, they were super quick to get back to me and refunded the price difference. :)

    19. J's sculpt reminds me of Elysia too....is it a Torre sculpt? I am looking forward to seeing how you paint the face-up zekarmisama
And my goodness how amazing are DT?! That is such wonderful customer service there solitary agent *phew*
And you are right paletan is actually much darker than most tan resins and I find it really tricky to photograph too.....it photographs much lighter than it is in real life!

    20. My Yujin shipped already! That was fast :o

    21. After frigid temps and many storms here in the Northeast, my Elysia is on her way home from the spa! So excited.

    22. Oh wow! I'll bet you are both so excited!!! :dance

    23. She looks great! What about a darker wig --brunette or auburn?

    24. Thanks Xaioli. I have one more in her size to try and it's a light auburn color so those three will be what I have to choose from.

    25. Huge congratulations Theresa......she looks real!!! :D How do you like this size doll?

And I really like both wigs for her......she might be a doll who can just wear many different styles. I can't get over how real she looks!!!

    26. Thanks Jane! Sally's work is like magic. She is my dream doll, and I am thrilled with her. I do like her size (she has some weight to her), and I also like both wigs, so maybe I will just switch off.
I hope to get to play with her some more later.

    27. Catherine is beautiful - teresa 226. Both wigs are nice choices & switching wigs around is something I do with my boys all the time once I decide on the colour. Dolls like to change their hairstyle too sometimes ;)

    28. She is gorgeous Theresa!

    29. Thank you Debra. I really love this girl so much.

    30. Just one more photo of Catherine. DH took some photos of her yesterday and his camera is way better than mine. I just can't take my eyes off of her.
And I love this size Jane. I never thought that I would want the 'big' doll, but she is really fun to hold and dress. Solid!
Her outfit is by Vintage Lily Rose.

    31. Oh thank you for posting another photo of her Theresa.........she is just stunning and I can't get over how real she looks :D

And I am so pleased that you have found you love this size doll too, SD size will always be my favourite size....I don't know why, but it is the one I feel most comfortable with.
But I also feel that the DT mini girls are not regular MSD dolls but just child size SD dolls! LOL!

And this is a fabulous outfit you have for her! :aheartbea :aheartbea :aheartbea

    32. Theresa , she looks fantastic , Sally has done a amazing job on the face and you have just finished her of perfect .. I love the 13 year size they pose beautifully .

I’m looking for another 13yr to do so Amy has a friend :) and suggestions ?

    33. theresa 226 - Your girl is truly beautiful! :)

Does anyone know why certain sculpts are available in tan skin, while other are not? :?
I was looking for two dark skin sculpts for some characters of mine and I did find two Dollstown girls, I could use, but I was disappointed I couldn't choose Ariel in tanned. :(

    34. I have to say thank you mdonline03, I missed your post. So sorry.

Many thanks, Jane, Mary and Akatsuki.

I am now quite partial to the Elysia sculpt, Mary, and my next choice would be Amy, but you already have her! Seola is a favorite of mine and could work nicely with your Amy. I also like the new J sculpt by Torre.

Not quite sure why some sculpts are offered in tan and some not, but apparently none of Torre's sculpts seem to be available in tan. You will always get a prompt and kind answer from the guys at Dollstown, though, Akatsuki.

    35. Theresa, your Catherine is so pretty. I like how you've styled her in velvet. She's so elegant and she carries off that look perfectly!

    36. Soda-Pop, thank you! I also see her as elegant, this is just how she turned out. I think that she took on a life of her own almost without my help! I also think that the 13Y body has such elegance on its own

    37. [IMG]

My Yujin arrived! I don't have his permanent eyes or wig since he was sort of an impulse buy, and it'll be a while before he has a faceup, but he's lovely. I'm thinking of getting an elf body for him and modding it.

    38. Your Yujin has beautiful features, solitary agent. He's very white, is he paleskin color?

    39. No worries :)

Congrats! Glad you're pleased with him. I love my Yujin, he's off in face up land but I like how one minute I look at him he looks innocent and the next he looks not such…Hope to see what you do with him.

    40. I am so pleased you got him so quickly.
Now I am not sure how big the Yujin head, is but the elfbody is very petite and the head and neck opening might not be compatible without some work to get Yujin to fit to that body.......what does everyone else think?
I am just thinking of how big the head is of my DT Mui.......he almost 'needs' larger shoulders that those of the older DT15 body to balance out the size of his head. All my personal opinion of course.

Yes! That sums up the magic of this particular DT13 girl.....she has a life of her own! I am so pleased for you......she is just stunning!!! :aheartbea

    41. Well, I looked at the measurements of the heads sold specifically for the elf body, and the Soph B head is 8.7 cm, Yujin is 8.6. Not sure about the neck, though.

Yes, he is Paleskin. :) He's going to be very pale in general - pale blond hair, light blue/green eyes.

    42. It is the neck size I am worried won't work........you could email Mr Anjonghak and ask him. He will reply quickly.
But the circumference of neck on the DT15 body 9.3 cm but it is only 7.3 cm on the elfbody........I just don't think it will work.

    43. I tend to be in agreement with Jane on the elf body for Yujin, solitary-agent. I had originally thought to put my Elysia on the elf body, but then looked at photos where this had been done and it just seemed out of proportion all around. Keep in mind that the shapes of the heads can be very different. The neck might propose quite a challenge for you with the elf. Usually the size body(s) recommended on the head page are the best ones for that head. Meanwhile, your vision for him sounds wonderful and I can't wait to see his finished 'look'

Once again, a big thank you Jane. I am so glad to finally have my girl in this size.

    44. It's going to be a challenge finding a body for him. : ( He's supposed to be a little shorter than another boy I have who's going to be on the junior delf body, which is 56 cm. At this point the only thing I can think of is modding the legs of another JDF body or a Volks SD10. And a white skin SD10 would be hard to find...and the JDFs are discontinued. Argh.

Actually, looking at this hybrid, I'm more hopeful that the elf body might work. Ringo is an SD size head.

    45. Not sure at all if it will work/the aesthetic…but have you looked at IOS…? They just released two new class50 dolls/bodies. I have no idea about the proportions but I have their class60 and I love it as an excellent poser. They offer normal & white skin. They have different selling periods but otherwise they're "mostly available" all the time.

    46. I am so pleased it has worked out so well for ((hugs)) as she is a big jump in size from the MSD DT girls :)

Random photo of my beautiful girl Bindi (Bandi in the old pinky-white resin on the DT13b body)

The cable jumper (sweater) was knitted by a friend. :D

    47. Wow, Jane! Bindi's sweater is gorgeous! Nothing but the best for her though. ;)

    48. Bindi is always so beautiful Jane. I can understand why she is your best girl! I think that I now have a new best girl, but don't tell my Mini girls. I really do adore all of them.

    49. Absolutely! :)
It is wonderful ....isn't it? I can't get over what a perfect miniature it is....wow!

And I will keep really quiet about the the 'new best girl' Theresa ....I love all my DT dolls but Bindi is my number one girl!

    50. Everyone's boys and girls are wonderful. I love DT dolls.

    51. I love the look of the IOS50, but I'm confused about the availability - they were on sale for a month and haven't been available since.

    52. Well now it seems that they must be going through a re-org or redesign or something…because are discontinuing all of their class70-60 sculpts. But I remember when they shifted to trying to offer the different class sizes each month on a fairly regular basis. There was a notice about it being on/about the 10th of each month.

The class50 was delayed forever and open for a longer period (like you mentioned) but no notice about it. It seems they are trying to figure out their production/sales model at the moment… It's a shame the Dollstown 15 won't work for your Yujin. I love that body but then again I don't have any size constraints. =(

Jane - Bindi is such a charmer. I love seeing her pop up.

    53. There are so many shoes that I like for my 13Y body, but it looks like most of them are made for high heel feet! The flat ones seem either too chunky or too childish.

      • x 1
    54. Oh wow Jane! This is so nice to know. A shoppin' here I come!

    55. Um hello? Is this thing on? Uh hi? Sorry kinda nervous and all. Anywho, though I don't own one just yet, I am absolutely determined and wanting to get a J head. I wasn't sure whether to post here or the 18yr thread, but decided here? I was looking back and saw someone else thought of the same thing as me, but I'm planning to turn my J into a girl when I get her. I'm so in love with that sculpt and it's grumpiness, but so many boys planned and not enough girls and while looking at it last night I kept seeing a girl in my mind, so I simply have to own one.

So I'll shut up now, but I'm very excited and hoping that sometime soon I'll be able to get my girls head. The body will probably have to wait a fair while, but J is worth it. XD

    56. ArcaneDesires, Welcome! I think that the J head would look great as a girl. That is IMHO. The beauty of these dolls is that we can customize them any an all different ways, as you have probably seen looking through the threads, so have a go and enjoy every minute.

    57. Isn't it so exciting when you just have to talk about the heads sculpt you are going to buy!!! :dance
Do you think you will have to wait long before ordering? And of course once you have ordered and paid you know you will get the doll really soon .......about a fortnight later I think is the going rate at the moment.
And I see you are from the UK ......DT will mark down, so with luck a head will skip past customs!

And you could chat away here and on the DT18 thread......I don't even have a DT18 doll but I will still chat away over there:)

    58. theresa 226 Thank you! I really do think the J head is so very versatile and in my opinion would make a great girl. I know I could go with one of the girl heads and they are super cute, but something about J just calls to me so much! I've been squealing to my fiance about possible ideas for this one since I woke up this morning. I think he's like 'Oh jeeze, here she goes again!' or something. lol

Jane Yes! I've only fairly recently become interested in girl dolls, and now it's snowballing, have one, two more are in customs right now and now I'm planning a J head as a girl too! I'm not sure how it will work but I think I know which body I eventually want for her too. But yay, that's great that they mark down. Glad to hear that! Hmm, as for soon, well I'm honestly not sure, it depends how quickly I finish saving for a body for one of my boys. I kinda have to see how much I get for my birthday at the end of the month because that doll is very important to me and I want his head and body to come together before I can start on this one. Shame I can't get her now, with the discount and all, but I'm more than happy to pay the full price for that cute head. XD Also, thanks, I will remember that!
