Dollstown 13yr & 15yr Discussion - part three

Sep 9, 2013

1. Hi Jane and Mary! Thanks for the help! Actually I've decided not to get her at this time. :( My issue is the sewing! LOL! I went to the DT site and looked at her measurements to compare them to Tessa's and she's quite different. If I got the Lucille sculpt and the Momo on a 5yr body, that would be TWO new sizes to sew for and I'm having a hard time keeping up with what I already have. So I think I'm going to just stick with getting Momo for the time being. Maybe in another year when I have more patterns developed, I'll be able to consider another size doll. I just got excited because this one was so pretty. I think Leahlilly's faceup style would fit in well with what I've already got going here.

2. Never mind Belinda ((hugs)) if you don't feel you can cope with another size it is best to find out before your get her home....isn't it?!
And if you change your mind and decide a DT13 girl is for you then perhaps 'Leahlilly' could do a face-up for you on another Lucille in a similar style :)

3. Bandi wants to say hello with a special hello for Jane!

4. Oh Debra!!!:aheartbea:aheartbea:aheartbea

I adore how you have brought her to life!!! Bandi love!!!:D

5. Thank you Jane!! :)

6. I love your Bandi Debra. Her faceup is really beautiful. Lovely lips, I can see the hint of smile, showing how happy she is to be yours.

7. Thank you Theresa! :) She is my first Bandi and I adore the sculpt!

8. I visited the Dollstown website for the first time in months, and while I have to see more photos of Yujin, he looks promising!

On the other hand, Soph B is going to be discontinued. :o I never thought much of Soph A, but I adore Soph B. But, no character, no room for her here. Aiee, what to do... I may have to let her go and look on the aftermarket later. *sniffles*

9. Debra, Bandi is just perfect! I can see why you gave a special shout out to Jane as Jane's Bindi is pretty legendary!

10. Thank you Dana! :)

11. I have been kicking myself for months for letting my beloved Lucille go....couldn't resist her beautiful face any longer. New Lucille....

12. So beautiful Debra.
Occasionally I think of letting one of my girls go for various reasons, but in the end I can't bear to part with any of them, and if I did, I would probably end up replacing her too. I think these DT girls don't let US go! We remain mesmerized.

13. Thank you Theresa!! I learned my lesson after sending my other Lucille away. This girl will stay. :)

14. She is gorgeous Debra..............I am so pleased that you were able to get her back :)
I must go and look on your Flickr page and see more photos!

And I do occasionally let DT dolls leave, but it always takes me a long time to get to that decision

15. Thank you Jane!! :)

It is fortunate that DT does not discontinue sculpts that often. If I let a girl go, I make sure she will be available at a later date! Glad to have Bandi since I hadn't purchased her before.

16. skyeyze …Bandi and Lucille are both just stunning …you do beautiful faceup’s … I love Lucille outfit did you make it ?

17. I was wondering about the outfit too...........I love it! :D

18. Thank you Mary and Jane!

Her outfit is made by Vintage Lily Rose. She is wearing part of it. Bandi is wearing one of her creations also.

19. Anjonghak posted the new Yujin head release with a discount on the body if you order both!
I think the new head looks great in the photo.

20. Thank you for that information Theresa that is a good discount.......are you tempted?

21. Tempted, yes Jane, but right now I have one headless 13Y body waiting for her head which is still out at the faceup artist. I am still working on clothing her, and Dolly funds are pretty slim. But that is a great offer from our wonderful DT artist.

22. It is lack of funds that is preventing me from ordering more from DT at the moment too Theresa

23. I have to say I am not a fan of the Yujin sculpt painted as a girl. But I do look forward to seeing more Yujins!

24. I don’t mind Yujin , I think he looks better as a boy than a girl … I’m waiting to get a body for my Soi boy and see if I want another boy …

Merry Xmas to you all on the DT thread … looking forward to more DT fun in the New Year :treecookie

25. Since this was my first ever order from DT, I have a very noob question here... :sweat

I've got my Soi boy some time ago (he's amazing! So much personality on the face and the 15y body is the nicest and most naturally posing young male body I've ever dealt with <3 ) as a whole doll (the head + 15y boy body) but he didn't have any papers with him. No CoA or any owner notes... is this normal from Dollstown and they don't send any papers?

26. I don't believe that DT sends any COA or papers on the dolls, so yes, this is normal. Some Velcro and eye putty is what usually came with mine.

Enjoy your boy!

27. Same here...I have NEVER gotten any papers with my DT's. Looking forward to seeing pics of your boy though ;0)

28. Oh, then I'm calm. I don't really mind, but it was quite unusual so I thought it was better to ask. Thank you for the quick responses, and for the congrats! :D
Can't wait to be able to work on him... *-*

29. I have just ordered Amy in orientalskin, I have really wanted her for so long and decided now was the time. I had a bit of a head swap around last night and after trying my Seola on my Supia new style body I think she is going to look fine on that. Also the feet are a bit smaller than DT and I have lots of nice shoes that fit her - next to decide who will do the face-up?

30. I've been away from dolls for a while (real life leaving no time to play *_*) and its lovely to see this thread so active! Lots of new Dollstown arrivals is awesome! I like the new Yujin sculpt a lot - he does seem like he'd make a good tom-boy too, especially with the right faceup. His features remind me of Yeondu a lot...

Finally had a little time to play around with my crew over the holidays, and I put up a new photoset with Clean Slate, my modded Soi.

Happy new year! :aheartbea

31. I just love the look on Clean Slate's face Candygears. Where is he taking me?!

32. He he, right theresa226? So pouty :XD:
Thank you! :aheartbea

33. candygears - your photo set is amazing and so much fun. I felt like I was on the journey with them. Thanks for adding your link in this thread.

Meanwhile, I hope to be a new DollsTown owner shortly. I have admired these dolls since I began the hobby (I'm still a newb) and I'm planning on getting Yujin (boy). There is such a haunted and wise expression about him.
And that's also good to know about the non-paperwork.:)

34. Yes I agree with all that has been said Bake_Neko DT have never sent out paper work with their dolls, so you have no worries there at all. Have fun painting your lad when he arrives!
If you are worried about having to prove provenance at some time in the future just save your emails from DT and print them out.
And I have just figured out who you are (I am very slow) I LOVE the DT Alina you painted for me :aheartbea so I am really looking forward to see your Soi lad :dance

Huge congratulations Avril! I am so pleased that you have finally got her ordered, good luck in finding an artist now! Would you prefer to use an artist in in the UK?

And how lovely to see you back here Candygears ((hugs)) and how lovely to see that Clean Slate still inspires you too.....wow!
That is some photoshoot of the imagination!
Amazing! :D

And congratulations to you too mdonline03......I am really looking forward to seeing Yujin in owner photos.....and yes there never has been paper work with DT dolls.

And an older doll. Here is Bindi again......she is my Bandi on the DT13b body in the old pinky-white resin of the older DT days

Still my number one girl!

35. Hi Bindi! In this photo she almost has a Mona Lisa smile Jane. She is always so beautiful.

36. Hi Jane, I see Amy is now sold out in orientalskin so I must have got the last one. I haven't decided yet who to commission for the face-up but it will be in Europe as though I love a lot of the US artists I hate getting caught by customs on the return. I did see a photo of an amazing Soi recently by a Russian artist called Kamarza, I wasn't over keen on Soi before but this changed my mind totally.

37. Thanks Jane! & I can see why your Bindi is your #1 girl. She's adorable.

& it looks like I'll be a new DollsTown owner sooner than I was financially planning...:o I just paid in full for my Yujin boy in Freshskin by mistake...

I had wanted to pay by layaway because I had JUST made some other dolly purchases + was saving my money for a body I desperately wanted for a floating head. But somehow I zoned out and paid for the whole thing.:doh . Clearly my new boy is telling me who's boss. Now I'm broke but ridiculously excited.

Happy New Year!

38. Oh my goodness!!!
That must have been such a shock! But as you are so excited I know it must have been the 'right' thing to do! :)

And thank you everyone for your lovely comments about my Bindi! :D
I am such a fan of Bandi that I have two!
Here is Elizabeth, she is on the older DT13c body in the old 'normalskin' DT resin colour (pre-Dollshe days)

39. Good to see Clean Slate again candygears!!

Beautiful Bandis Jane!! They are both so unique.

40. Trying to play catch up on this thread. Still working on getting my Bandi together, face up done, but was a slight delay in getting body. Loving the new additions and the hybrids too. Will have my Ringo back soon.

41. Managed to get my backdrop sorted, glued the top to an inch wide wooden strip then bought some self-adhesive magnetic tape on ebay and stuck it on the back of the strip, now I can attach it to my magnetic noticeboard when I want to use it. Went to the garden centre today for lunch and to look at the Xmas sale items, bought the little dog for half-price and the perfect little trug for 99p! Not sure what it is supposed to be for but just the right scale for Monica and came in loads of colours, still trying out my new camera so picture isn't the best.

42. This is super pretty and refreshing to look at - so spring/summery & your girl is of course beautiful in that pale tan.

43. She is gorgeous Avril and I love how you have dressed her, and well done on the Garden Centre bargains! :dance
And I like how you sorted out the backdrop too, I am taking notes here! I tend to just peg mine onto a very large piece of card.

44. Exiting news, I got my shipping notice today for Yujin. :)He was ordered 1.2.2014 (in stock).
I hope all the stars align and the post will try and deliver him Friday or Saturday. What a luxury it is to have a doll shipped so fast!

45. Oh how exciting!!! Dollstown are amazing!!! :dance

46. My Amy head arrived on Monday (no customs) so she has gone off to wet Wales today for her beauty treatment, just hope it stops raining a bit there so the MSC can dry!

47. *yippee* for you too Avril :dance
Will she be getting an Yves face-up? And I will keep my *fingers crossed* about the rain stopping......it really is just so dreary at the moment, isn't it?!

48. Hi Jane, yes you are right, she has gone to Yve for her face-up, I hope she is not away too long but it does depend on the weather at this time of year. Though actually here in Yorkshire we have had a lovely mild day and my area seems to have avoided the recent extreme wet and very windy weather.

49. I can't wait to see her on her return :dance
And it has certainly been much milder here near Nottingham today......thank goodness. Yesterday is was so dank and dreary, I had to flash outdoors to get a photo! *gasp*

50. My Yujin & 15yr boy body arrived today! I am just giddy by how beautifully magical this boy is. Even though the body is a 2 part torso…I don't even miss having the chest joint. The sculpting of the body is soooo…graceful and organic, and I just love his little face.…I know I'm preaching to the choir here about Dollstown dolls but I just had to spazz out about him. Now I'm left debating his name, which artist I send him to and shopping for his appropriate clothes, wig and eyes. Although I have plenty lying around to keep him clothed, wigged and eyed; he just looks like he's borrowing my other boys stuff...

51. Oh I am so pleased for you!!! :dance
And I love to hear how others love the DT dolls, so sing away :D I still have never seen in person the new DT15 male body.

And good luck finding an artist to bring him even more to life for you, and have fun shopping for him too!
Isn't it funny how some clothes and wigs simply do look like borrowed items on other dolls!

I will have to keep an eye on your Flickr page to see if you post any photos there of him soon.............I do like how you dress your other lads btw.

52. Jane, I agree abut your beautiful Bandi. She's beautiful and does look like she has a Mona Lisa smile! Its nice to see a little smile on a DT girl. :)

mdonline03, congratulations on Yujin. Can't wait to see photos! Nothing more fun than a new sculpt. I liked the boy look of him.

Avril, how exciting about our Amy! She's lovely girl. I hope the weather cooperates for her faceup. It's so cold here the house is making popping noises!

Lots of anticipation here for great photos to come.

53. Jane & Soda-Pop - Thank you!:)

I'll post at least one reference picture of him before he heads off...I was able to score an artist that has done a few of my other boys so I'm happy about that. I'm just not ready to send him off just yet! But he has at least told me his name and it's Malachi. Shopping for clothes will be a bit tough since his character is telling me that he is from King Herod's period and a young deposed prince (his guards/advisers are going to be Dollshe's Grant Phillipe & Simply Divine's Nkiru). But sewing robes and such hopefully won't be horribly challenging...

& Thank you Jane for your kind comments about my other boys. They pick their own outfits!:o;) And I might add that your lovely little lady is looking pretty sassy herself.

54. {{laughing}} yes that they do! But they let us pick up the bill! LOL!

Your story for your new lad is really intriguing....good luck and have fun sewing for him! :)

55. Got photos of my Elysia from Sally and I am delighted with how she turned out! I can't wait to get her home to me.

56. Oh Theresa *bounce* I am so excited and just so pleased for you!!! :D

57. I am 'bouncing' all over, Jane! Her eyes arrived just the other day and her wig is here too. She doesn't have too much in the way of clothing yet, but that will be remedied soon enough. I am in love already.

58. I want to introduce Lucy - She is also painted by Sally.
Lucy by Xiaoli2004, on Flickr

I am so glad to get her back - Thanks to the horrible weather she and Soi spent a couple of months in Maine. It was well worth the wait.

59. Theresa do you have any idea when she will get to you yet? And will you make clothes for her, or just have fun shopping for her?!

And huge congratulations to you too Martha :D I hadn't thought about the freezing weather making face-up work almost impossible!

60. And Soi - She is my tragic poet. Talk about dollstown girls looking sad - this one expresses despair quite easily. I still love her. She has two little freckles that almost match two my daughter has and Sally did that without knowing or my asking. Perhaps dolls connect to us with red threads too.

I'm not sure if she will stay with the curly hair or not. I have a piece of black lambskin coming so she may end up with that type of wig. (And I need to straighten her eye)
