Dollshe Waiting Room 12

Mar 12, 2020

    1. Thank you. I really hope he'll get here safely. <3

    2. Holy moly he finally arrived! My Rey Lewis made it home! After 15 months and almost a month in shipping he's really here! And my David has shipped too! Well heck, maybe I'll splurge for a Grant to round out the trio...
The hands....my gosh the hands! And the neck joint!!
But where does anyone get good quality wigs and eyes this small???

      • x 7
    3. @Darkwingchick That is awesome news! Rey Lewis is my favourite sculpt. I got mine 12mm small iris eyes, they don't fit in his eyes that great but I got them to work, I think it depends on what type of eyes you get. I got mine a custom made wig from etsy.

    4. I...may...have spent a chunk of an unexpected work bonus on a fashion Diana in pale tan. In my defense she'll be one of my long standing characters and get to hang with my Ausley and Khan (when he eventually arrives). I'm a moron but I can't help bit think I'll regret not getting her.

      • x 1
    5. Don't say that! Now I'm wondering if i'll regret not getting her, also, did you get Fashion Diana from Dollshe directly? Cuz in BJDivas' site says she's sold out :XD: I'm scared to ask cuz I literally have no self control.

      • x 1
    6. @lorenav6661 I did go through Dollshe directly. It's a bit of an experiment on my part to see if it's quicker than through a dealer, but I doubt it will be. Though Diana does seem to be one of the dolls that's shipping a bit faster so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    7. Oooooh...interesting hahaha well, at least you can ask them about your order directly and feel no remorse if you're asking too frequently :XD:

      • x 1
    8. Well, today I received a head I ordered from Angelsdoll...they shipped her out 15 days after I placed my order, and she's so adorable and nicely sculpted and the tan resin quality is flawless. What does this have to do with my Dollshe order? Mostly just that every single time I place an order with a company and they send me a beautifully finished product in under a month, I lose more and more patience with Dollshe's crap. As of today, I've gotten really fast dolls from Elfdoll (2 weeks), April Story (10 days), Iplehouse (2 weeks--for ebony resin!), Angel of Dream (3 weeks, in December/Christmas season, no less!) and now Angelsdoll. And every one of those dolls were a high-quality, well-finished cast with no problems or issues with the order, so it's not like they were shoddy rush jobs. There just really is no excuse for making people wait years. (And order volume is no excuse either-- if one doesn't continuously run crazy bargain-basement-priced sales and take orders nonstop without finishing outstanding orders first, one won't get backed up.)

    9. It really is frustrating specially since Dollshe just told BJDivas they won't be adding the silicone packing that they had, it's sad that not only the wait times are ridiculous, they're losing quality

      • x 5
    10. I’ve also seen a post on instagram saying the dolls have big, sharp seam lines now too.
Dollshe really is cutting corners everywhere. I thought the only catch was gonna be the wait :/

      • x 6
    11. :horror: I had no idea, that really sucks... I better prepare myself :pout:

      • x 1
    12. Oy! I ordered a year ago. Since then, the resin color has changed (I had planned on swapping heads), the plugs are gone, and now sharp seams. Pretty soon the dolls will be worth the sale prices! Maybe that was his strategy. I wish I had ordered my dolls in 2018 instead of 2019 at full price.

      • x 5
    13. Yup...."but the QUALITY" is no longer an excuse to keep supporting Dollshe's terrible business practices anymore, it seems. I also saw the Instagram post detailing how the casting quality has gone way down and dolls are now being sent out with huge, sharp seams. It really adds a layer of frustration since not only is my wait time unreasonable but now I don't even have any firm expectation that the doll will be a good product.

      • x 5
    14. I just got a bad feeling about my orders...If I really really dislike something it's too obvious seam lines. Yellowing? Fine. Mismatched resin? No problem. But the seamlines?! The wait times are atrocious, prices aren't exactly low and now I will have to do a lot of sending, it seems. I'll most probably change my attitude towards the secondhand market soon.

Great news! I was considering buying a head, too but have no previous experience with the company.

      • x 1
    15. Ugh, bigger seam lines sucks!

No longer giving the silicone nubs is such BS too. I am glad I only got a head and hands... I think I'd be a lot more frustrated if I received a body like that.

      • x 1
    16. So, the dolls are now going to have gaping holes in every joint and sharp seam lines? Not cool Dollshe, not cool.

      • x 2
    17. I have an older (2017? I need to double check) Ausley and while she still has silicone nubs and the metal neck protector, she's in Fresh and her seams on her thighs could cut me. I'm hoping that the seamline issues are hit-or-miss like they were in the past (Though we shouldn't be having the problem at all!!!)

    18. Oof, I was still pretty excited for my boy even after a year and a half of waiting, hoping at least for a nice quality product out of it, but all this makes me afraid that I'll get him and end end up disappointed...

      • x 5
    19. Hm. Well. Dollshe claims they sent my doll off June 1. I guess the last almost two months' wait are probably due to the global postal system getting so overloaded because plague. Great.

      • x 1
    20. I'm kinda bummed reading these new issues. I was so hoping to get a nice Dollshe body cause everyone has told me their quality is amazing. Now I read they won't pose and they have big visible seamlines. I really hope I can at least fix him myself.

      • x 3
    21. Is it normal for dolls to take so long to ship, if you’ve paid in full? One doll I bought in May, the other in June.

    22. For Dollshe sadly, it is. Some companies need more time, 3 to 6 months is reasonable I think as long as you know beforehand but with Dollshe waiting times of more than 1 year are 'normal'. I ordered in april 2019 and am still waiting but I was warned beforehand so I am not complaining about this. But reading info on quality changes makes me really worried.

      • x 2
    23. I'm still paying off his layaway but my Aramis arrived at bjdivas! I think I have two payments left. I got him in pure oriental on the mystic body.

      • x 7
    24. Looking at ordering the David Kuncci in Saphire blue he would be my Grand Admiral Thrawn (Would like to order him today). Just seeing that the wait times are like with this company. Are people getting their dolls? I had a problem years ago with Customhouse. I got my dolls but my friend didn't get hers. I just dont want to have the head ache or worry if people are not getting their dolls from this company. I understand it can be along wait but what should I expect from this company?

    25. had multiple orders with Dollshe from 2011 to the present, ij addition to the 6 that I’m currently waiting for, and have received every single one of them.

They just took an inordinate amount of time to fulfill the orders.I fully expect to to receive Six I’m waiting for.

I have never heard of anyone not getting their doll at all, just the obscene waiting times.

That said, I found them to be worth the wait. Superb quality on every one, including the latest
      I received in March.

Seams are there, but minimal in all the dolls I’ve had . The silicone nubs, while a nice idea, were never effective, which is why I think they are being eliminated.
The newer models, Mystic, 24 Male, 16Female , do not even have the slots for the silicone nubs.

The most recent orders I’ve made through BJDIVAS, since their extended layaways make the the wait less painful: not having to put out the total amount and then wait 10-12 months is a good thing.

The lower cost of shipping is great too, since they charge only for the postage within the US.

      Hope this helped a bit.

    26. Thanks for the info, I had no idea those bodies didn't have the slots there! I think I'll ask BJDivas to send my dolls to my aunt in the US and wait till she comes or I go pick them up, let's add 6 months more to that long wait :pout:

    27. I mean....the seam lines on my brand new Fashion sized Rey Lewis aren't terrible. There's none on the face or hands, and the only really bad ones is on the backs of his feet. I can catch my nail on the ones on his legs, but I don't think they're awful. He's got the L4 body if that matters to anyone.
Heck I just ordered my third one so they're not that off-putting...

    28. Adding my 2 cents as a recent born-again collector.. I've never handled any of the newer Dollshe dolls prior to this. My first boy is an old Bermann from 2006 and I went on a collecting hiatus from 2010 until just last year so I cannot compare doll quality in that time. That being said, I'm pretty satisfied with what I've received for the price I paid of my three most recent purchases.

I ordered them all directly from Dollshe last year. Two in August (paid in full) who arrived in May this year and one in November that arrived in June this year after I finished paying off her layaway in February. I'm pretty baffled and confused by the wait times because they don't seem to follow any pattern, but I also have no complaints over this because I knew what I was getting into when I ordered them. This forum is very informative when it came to learning about the crazy waiting times... The only thing I'd complain about re my Saint and Bermann is the engineering of their Mystic bodies to hold poses. They're beautifully sculpted bodies, but without some help (wiring or sueding), they get floppy and their knees buckle quite easily.

My Amanda, who arrived in June, didn't come with silicon nubs and also has a wrong sized S-hook in her head, but all of this I'd also read about on this forum before purchasing her, so I knew what I was getting into. I'm actually very satisfied with her because she's gorgeous and her 26F body poses much better than my two Mystic boys without sueding/wiring help.

All three of them have seam lines, unlike my boy from 2006, so therein lies the biggest difference for me. I'm generally not that bothered with seam lines though because I've never bothered getting rid of them on my other dolls.

      • x 2
    29. I haven't even paid my second layaway installment for my Bermann and I've fallen head over heels for Saint, Amanda AND Diana:doh. Next time there's a big sale I might have to take the plunge and order them on a 12 month layaway...

    30. From what I've heard also, the dolls do actually show up. It's just a long while after ordering. The waits for sculpts and sizes which are new can be a VERY long time (example being fashion Diana). . . but generally sculpts/sizes that exist already are the regular long time. No rhyme or reason as to what order he sends out the dolls in though it seems. . . Also I'll say they're so beautiful, it's worth the wait. I'm about 15 months into the wait for my first ordered doll. . and in all I'm waiting for 10 of them. .. . I'm okay with that cause I knew about the long waits and I have other dolls I've gotten in the meantime to hold me over.
That said. HE WOULD MAKE SUCH A GOOD GRAND ADMIRAL THRAWN AAAAAAAAAA. . . .sorry. Had to get that out of my system.

    31. finished making my last layaway payment this month...now for the wait

      • x 5
    32. Got my boy home about a week ago. He's darn pretty. The posing of the Mystic Pose+ body is absolutely horrible. I hope I can fix it. I've never needed a doll stand before but it looks like I might need one for him cause he can't stand at all.

      • x 4
    33. really? I'm so worried about that body. I haven't heard anything good about it... What do you think it's wrong with it?

    34. I have heard that the torso is too heavy for the legs, therefore the joints buckle. Is that what people are experiencing?

    35. Well, my second dollshe just showed up today.

I want to share something with all of you. I emailed Dollshe a while back as I've mentioned, and in the exchange they said the honey skin wasn't available and if I changed my resin choice my doll would be finished quickly. I picked a new pure colour on June 14. On July 18 they shipped my doll. 5 weeks. Now, maybe they just so happened to have a David Kuncci in copper oriental lying around, or maybe all they had to cast were the heads... but 5 weeks? When people have waited 2 years?? My first doll took 14 months. I'm happy and yet simultaneously furious. I'm sorry to all who have waited so long for seemingly no reason. I wish I had any kind of answer.

      • x 5
    36. I seriously regretted getting more joints on my David he can't stand at all but I really don't mind at that time since the resin is very pretty. I just re-strung him a couple of times until I got the tension right enough for him to stand on his own.

Needless to say, when I got a second doll, I opted for the most basic body. But when he arrived, I noticed that his resin is lighter than my first doll and he stands just fine. I don't know if it's because he does not have additional joints or if it's because of the resin quality, but it has become quite a balancing act when it's dollshe.

TBH, my first doll was better it may have a bit of a problem standing but it's really the silicone kips, metal rings inside the head and neck, and good quality of resin that used to set Dollshe apart from other doll companies. Sad that all that is gone now.

      • x 1
    37. I recently read (I think on a Facebook group) that adding a little lump inside the thigh piece just above the knee joint helps - the channels are made in a way that causes the elastic to press against the knee joint which causes it to collapse. Adding a lump of sculpey or something similar means the elastic runs smoothly past the joint without touching it and the doll can stand.

Of course, you shouldn't have to modify your doll like this to make it stable but it's a fairly easy fix at least.

      • x 2
    38. I'd say it's engineered to work with the silicone plugs they used to have and since they're gone the body doesn't work.
I got the same advise. To add a little bit of something to the knees so the elastic doesn't bend the knees. He also needs something to his hips and upper torso joints cause they have a life of their own.

      • x 2
    39. The Mystic 18M body never had the silicone plugs.

only the 28M, 26F,Arsene body, 8B,&6G bodies had them. 18M mystic,24M Khan,&16F Diana never had them.

Even the old 18 lM, in all its variations, is not known for his standing capabilities.Better known for its slouching and lounging ca capabilities.

I think a big part of the problem is the elastic is the same as the one used for the old 18M bodies. It’s too stretchy and lightweight for the new 18M mystic body.
Restringing helps immensely. And a little bit of sueding/ wiring are the hips and knees....

      • x 2
    40. That makes sense. I often need to tighten my Arsene body.

    41. I think Dollshe has had a surplus of that size/ type of elastic, when the bulk of the dolls he made were the old 18M bodies, and is still using it. Especially since a large percentage of Dollshe owners restring their dolls almost immediately. Along with Actively customizing and modifying things from the get go.

    42. Eight payments down, four to go for Khan! Oy! I still need to figure out what jeans will fit him! :frownyblush:

      • x 2
    43. it's kinda frustrating to not know when you'll get your doll but even more to be sure that you'll have to repair it when it arrives haha I'm really glad I got the Arsene body as well :XD: now let's hope the resin matches my Arsene head!

    44. Ooh! BJDivas does have my doll! Now to play some email tag since I’ve moved eight hours and two states since placing my order...hey, she’s in the right country. Now maybe I should actually start hunting down things like some eyes...

      • x 8
    45. Congratulations, hopefully she will be with you soon!

      • x 1
    46. congrats! When and who did you order ?

      • x 1
    47. Fashion Diana... July 2018. It's been quite a wait, and not one I'll be repeating. :|

      • x 8
    48. July 2018!! OMG! 2 years! Congratulations!

I was just starting to wonder about my little green Grant Philippe I ordered last July. ._. Most of the time I forget that I even ordered him. While I've been waiting, I ended up getting a blue King Corey to be his friend through through a trade. Weird size, man. These are really strange little dudes.

      • x 6
    49. I went ahead and ordered a 28M King Corey in Pale Tan with the L4 Type Body :dance I know the wait will be lonnnngggg, but I figured I might as well get him ordered. I sort of want a Rey Lewis too, but I'm still waiting for my pack of ladies (Ausley, Amanda and Erica) that I ordered in May 2019. I was hoping to have them by now, but ah well, such is the Dollshe life.

      • x 5
    50. Has anyone besides myself ordered Monica Bellucci? I know a few on the board have ordered Tom Cruise. Boy, those order-made dolls seemed to have disappeared off the radar.

      • x 2
    51. Congrats @rebeccag12363 ! I'm glad your long wait is nearly over!!

My Aramis has arrived at BJDivas. I'm vacillating between being excited for his arrival and completely over it due to all the issues I've read about in this thread and others. But it is good to know he'll be coming home soon. Now I have one more doll from Dollshe in the queue, and then I think I might be done with Dollshe - or at least limiting myself to only second hand...

      • x 4
    52. Congrats @schmooples! I got an email from BJDivas too saying my Saint is with them now.

I ordered him back in May 2019 and fortunately my wait never hit the 2-year mark. Saint is one of my grails so I'm very happy to have him home soon! I live in Asia tho so the package literally flew from somewhere nearby to somewhere really far away. RIP @ my wallet thanks to shipping fees but it's ok, the wait will finally be over

      • x 4
    53. Congratulations to everyone who's wait is over! Let us all here know about that quality, please :)

      • x 3
    54. *jealous shrieking* I'm actually very very happy for everyone finally getting their dolls!!! But I'm tired of waiting for my Saint (17 months). Though I know I'll love him when he finally arrives. Bjddivas got told by dollshe he should ship in July (of course not) and I haven't poked them this month because I know they're very busy and understaffed. I wonder if he's taking so long because I was on the last order for the pure body? Maybe something is wrong with the mold...

I'm spending my time finally doing a modding project I've been putting off for a year on a doll that's off topic for this thread.

And I'm mad at myself for my weakness in ordering 2 other dolls from dollshe.

    55. Yeah, a bit jelly but mostly thrilled that something is happening! I also ordered my Arsene in May 2019 although I'm well aware that Dollshe is chronologically impaired. Haha.

      • x 1
    56. Congrats guys, I'm happy to hear at least some of the dolls are coming in!

As for my own misadventures, a couple of months ago Bjdivas also told me that Dollshe said my Rey Lewis would be shipping in July. Of course I didn't hear anything, so I did decide to politely poke again a few days ago- Dollshe now says, no no, production of my doll started in July. Sigh, guess we'll see lol.

      • x 1
    57. I'm also still in the waiting game, Dollshe said he'd both start production and ship in July, no news yet, have definitely lost hope as I've learned not to trust anything he says

I've had to message divas about another issue so I added a question about the dollshe, so we'll see. Debating on whether I'll just try to sell him if he ever gets here

    58. Yep, I got told that my dolls were starting production in two weeks (two weeks ago). I don't want to be grumpy, but also...

I suppose I ought to take advantage of the wait and finish all my projects

      • x 1
    59. Dollshe told me the same that it would be ready in July. But when I wrote "Where?" At the end of July, I said to wait another 2 weeks. And so I am still waiting ...

Although I watch how many people are waiting for their dolls and I understand that only 6 months have passed for me and this is not so much ...

    60. I'm going on 16 months for my first order. . . I would poke BJDivas about my orders, but I kind of have too many to make that at all practical to do. I'm planning to finish paying off the layaway on my last Diana early (like next paycheck) so maybe when I contact them do that I will ask about the earlier ones. Still sort of wanting to get a classic Adonis. . but I'm on a doll no-buy till October, so we'll have to see.
