Yeah he's been doing the shipping money scam for a while and just simply not sending the dolls. I hope it really worked out for your friend and you!
We’re now waiting for a shipping quote—we’ll see how reasonable the quote is. I’ve been back and forth with Dollshe on an almost daily basis, and his stories aren’t consistent, but what else is new? He’s also claiming to have a UK dealer, who has been receiving his dolls. A google search on Dollshe does not turn up a UK dealer—or any dealer, other than Divas, who we all know he’s no longer working with. I’ve asked for their site “so I can show them to my British friends” so I can see if they’re like the staff he’s hiring. The one thing that makes me think they could be real is that he offered to take payment through their PayPal—which we saw him do to dollstown for awhile.
Oh my gosh... I don't know what will happened to me if I didn't read this threads before. I have stopped this hobby for many years and just recently got interested in it again late this year. Then I looking for a new bjd from dollshe that I have wanted for long ago (probably 4-6 years ago) for a new year gift for myself. Before that I sent an email asking if I could buy it and he replied to my email quickly as if there was no problem. Until something inspired me to come and read doa forum here. I found a very horrific shock. I hope you guys get bjds you ordered or at least get your money back.
I hope you can find the one you want on the second hand market. If you decide to buy, just be careful and I truly hope you makes you brand new dollie and doesn't ship you someone else's from the in stock.
Thanks for the advice, I decided to stopp myself just in time, someone started warning me because they saw my status on facebook that I was interested in Dollshe. btw He recently replied to my email saying he has a paypal that I can pay for but I didn't reply to him or asking him more detail.
Well, we have a tracking number, so I’m optimistic. It just left South Korea for Canada yesterday. I won’t say we’re wholly out of the woods, but we’ll know soon enough, when the package arrives.
He's ignored me since the 27th so now I am completely sure he's actively ignoring those who do not want to be scammed another doll.
I'm this close to just picking one of the in stock dolls but I don't want to be disrespectful to my fellow victims. I kept insisting to just send the shipping fee but he kept saying that even if I did he won't be able to send my dolls that have already been packed since who knows when??? And that he needs me to buy at least one in stock doll so he can ship all of them? Make it make sense, please.
I’m not advocating for buying anything from Dollshe here, but you could always do that $1 reserve a doll and pay when it’s cast, demand he ship them separately, and then not pay for the new doll, and you’ll only be out a dollar. It’s a little underhand, but he’s making underhand tactics unfortunately necessary.
You cannot post about buying an in-stock doll on this forum. New orders are banned. Please do not do so again.
I got the two Natalies I ordered and payed 4 years ago, a half year ago. Payed extra shipping. But can not show them.
Welllllll. The girl I did hostage negotiations for is delivering today. Dollshe is asking me which new dolls I want to buy, and giving me lists of prices, and quoting a 1-2 month turnaround, which has never been accurate to Dollshe, so far as I know, ever. Still doing the “put a dollar down and then pay when it’s cast” thing. I firmly believe the people that do this will get pictures of previously cast dolls that are already sent to their owners, then send him the EFT he requests because they think there’s proof the doll exists, and then be out the money for a doll that doesn’t exist. My ten cents is, even if it were on-topic for this forum to discuss these dolls, I don’t believe that people who buy them are going to get them. I’m only sharing the details of this latest promotion so I can also share how I think it will be misused, in case anyone not familiar with Dollshe happens to read this thread before ordering.
@Chameleon congrats on scamming the scammer to... get what you... were scammed out of? How convoluted Dollshe has made this situation...
Right???? If it were any other company, I’d feel bad for the absolute Antics I have had to resort to here. I’m glad I’m done tbh, his email is going into my spam filter now that it’s over.
Mods are free to weigh in on what I’m doing, and I’ll readily edit out details, but I am NOT sharing this to promote him. I described the offers so that I could explain how they’re blatantly dishonest, in case someone other than me is fooled by his latest scheme. The doll I received is not a new transaction. She was paid for December 25, 2021 by my friend’s husband, and I bought her secondhand off this friend which is allowed because she was purchased in 2021–the only money Dollshe has received from me since that date was ~$60 for shipping, via PayPal. From what I am aware of—and again, mods feel free to weigh in if I’m in the wrong, you getting your two pre-orders would have been totally fine. What wasn’t fine on this forum is the in-stock doll you bought to get your order to ship. The reason for this is that that doll is very likely someone else’s property that they will never receive, and DoA does not ethically condone that. I have not done that. I did not buy items from Dollshe, making what I am posting on the up-and-up, just as far as I understand.
I did NOT payed for a extra doll for to get my two Natalie Portman I ordered and payed 4 years ago, I ONLY payed the EXTRA SHIPPING. But I am still not allowed to show this girls here. I can lose my membership if I do. I am also not allowed to talk about them here, so this was a risk for me to mention them.
I think there might have been a misunderstanding here. You replied to someone who was expressing their frustration at Dollshe's insistence they buy an 'in stock' (read; someone else's property) doll to get their order shipped, saying that you picked out a small in stock doll and got it. This was understood to mean that you did that recently, which is why you got the mod comment. If you did, that doll and only that doll would be forbidden from being mentioned on DOA. Any dolls ordered before November 8th 2023 are fine to talk about, even if they arrived later because you paid extra for shipping. Chameleon is only discussing Dollshe's current 'deal' (read: scam) because it was a part of the hostage negotiations for her friend's doll. This included a brief mention of why - other than such dolls being banned on DOA - attempting to take him up on that deal would be a very bad idea even if it looks safe.
As long as you bought your dolls before November 8, 2023, you can show them and talk about them. If you ordered them after that date, they're banned.
Wellll no pictures yet, but Oh Jeez do I have thoughts on the quality of this newly arrived Dollshe doll. for context, I own: -Ausley Love full doll, ~2012-2014 -26f body, 2014-ish -old hound body, ~2016? -Amanda Beauty head, 2018 -Grown Saint head, 2020ish? -Rey Lewis head, year unknown I’ve previously owned -Bernard on the old hound body, honey resin, 2016/head from 2018 -26f body in honey resin, ~2016-18? -Adonis head, 2020-21? I’m not listing all this to power trip about how many dollshes I have/have had, but as context for the following review. I know what old dollshe’s quality was like. I’ve also owned a ton of early twiglings, which were cast by Dollshe, and I have 2 dollstown bodies. this body is awful. She has very pronounced, raised seam lines on her arms and legs, which I could potentially pardon. She’s missing all the silicone nubs, but dolls haven’t come with those since like 2018 iirc, so I expected that. The string he sent me was in loops that were way too short, and thin enough I’m convinced he ran out of SD sized string, and just sent whatever else he had, so I had to break out some spare string I had kicking around. The string he sent for the arms was probably 1.5-2mm, for a 65cm doll??? But the kicker is, her arms literally do not fit together. The pieces? All Way Too Tight. They scrape violently. You have to force them together harder than I’m willing to forge resin. The amount of tension I’d have to string her with to make these pieces fit would crack them. Evidently no care was put into test fitting the bits together before they were shipped, which is bonkers, considering they had three years since the order was placed to check the fit. if I received this body secondhand, I would think it was obviously illegitimate, as no legit doll I’ve ever handled, Dollshe or not, has had this glaring of a QC issue. She’s unusable without modding. I literally cannot put her joints together. I’m going to sand down the peanuts to make them fit, and then boil the upper and lower arms to fit the joints to them. I know how to fix this, because I’ve had joints get tight after dyeing, and boiling fixed them pretty well. I cannot stress enough how much a buyer should not be expected to have to mod the dolls they receive to be able to string them at all. No other Dollshe doll I’ve ever owned has been this deeply flawed. I’m so sorry to the few of you that are receiving dolls right now, because after waiting years, you’re likely to receive defective merchandise.
Thankyou! Two more dollportrait , then! Wow, I didn't knew Dollshe did cast Twiglings early body? I have to great and lovely Twigling bodys from her two first dollbodys 2007 and 2008 ( I bought them on Doa). Are the molded by Dollshe? I know Dollstown are, I have some from hes dolls too.
I’m not sure about the 2007/2008 bodies (that would be old enough it was probably when ylissande was still for sale!) A quick search of the news thread indicates that the colour names are not dollshe’s line of colours, but no caster is specified, so I can’t say who did cast them, just that it wasn’t Dollshe. I know they were cast by Dollshe around 2011-2013 because my Oriental skin ingenues date back from then. Big Eloy (not the rerelease) was a head only, and was cast by Dollshe to match the fifth motif timeless body, most recently in 2015. I also know my ingenieuse was from 2014, is in weiju’s tan, not Dollshe pale tan (she’s less opaque than Dollshe tan would be, and lighter/less translucent than honey caramel tan). The “long layaway” preorder in 2016-17ish was fulfilled by a variety of casters. Some of the lighter colours (and teal!) were fulfilled by Weiju, but there were issues with them, so some of the other dolls were fulfilled by haru casting. I don’t know what happened with Haru, but they didn’t make all the dolls that were ordered, because I believe raw umber/sienna tan dolls, and the Argyria colour were fulfilled by DCS, who was a caster based in Russia. Once getting dolls reliably out of Russia became an issue, around 2022(?) Twigling went to a different caster (batAss co.) for her large dolls, and a different caster whose name I can’t remember for small dolls. So there are a lot of different casters and a lot of different eras for Twigling dolls. This is totally all off-topic for the thread about Dollshe except to say that my 2012 oriental twiglings are pristine. No seam lines, no harsh sanding marks, no uneven yellowing that would indicate uneven sanding. They look perfect, and their joints fit perfect, even when compared to newer DCS and Haru Twigling bodies that I have. The downturn in quality between my 2012-2016 bodies all cast by Dollshe is both recent and extreme.
Hi all, I wanted to share my experience with Dollshe Craft. I ordered dolls in December 2021 and paid in two payments. After the last payment, I was informed that they would ship the doll in 6 months. I said that this was quite a long time and asked if they could send it sooner. Okay, they agreed to do everything they could… I patiently waited. After 4 months, I wrote to them asking if there were any updates regarding my shipment. I was told they would send it in another 5–6 months… At that point, I started worrying about my order, but I continued to wait patiently. So, after another 2 months, I asked again about my order. They told me that my doll was 'waiting to be duplicated' and after that they would inform me about the next stage of the order. Two months later, I wrote to them, saying that by this time, they should already be shipping my dolls. I was already starting to stress because I felt that something was wrong. I should mention that at that time I didn’t know about the problems Dollshe was facing! This is when the bullshit began. They replied to me with whatever they had in mind: "The doll you ordered is waiting to be duplicated. Please understand that replication is delayed due to a shortage of replication manpower and an increase in material costs. The estimated waiting period for the reproduction of the doll you ordered is about 2–3 months." So like an idiot, I waited another two months (without any response worrying that if I started spamming emails, they would stop replying to me). Then they replied to me again with: "Waiting for replication." At this moment, I panicked and did my research. When I found out what kind of problems Dollshe was dealing with, I panicked even more thinking that I would never receive my order. I was terrified, so I asked when my money would turn into the actual item I ordered and expected a concrete timeframe whether it would be a week, a month, or an eternity. They replied to me a day later, saying that the doll was already ready and that they would ship it in December or January And then… they stopped replying to my emails. At that point, I was sure that the case was closed and that I had become a victim of Dollshe. A few months later, they replied that I had to pay extra for shipping due to COVID.... as taxes had gone up. Okay, I agreed because I was afraid that if I didn’t give them that money, they would never send the dolls. So, after the payment, they promised to send them on January 25th that same month. I was waiting for this moment, but I was already feeling defeated. I also had no idea how to explain this to my husband because he would be furious if the money was lost, and I would be labelled as naive…Eventually, they sent me a tracking number! I was happy, but only for a moment... because the tracking number turned out to be fake… so I was convinced that this was the end. They didn’t reply to my emails, and I had no idea what to do, so I wrote to them from a different email address. And finally, they sent me a working tracking number! But I didn’t expect them to send the dolls I was more expecting them to send me an empty box…In the end, in February 2023, I received a package with the dolls… They were real, they actually existed… I received them as one of the very few… And I am happy, but at the same time, I can’t enjoy them as much after all the stress and knowing that others never received their orders… I don’t even know if they are already banned…
@Tsuna I'm sorry you went through all that, like so many others. But I'm glad you finally got your dolls. Don't worry, you bought your dolls before the ban took effect, so they're still allowed. You can show them and talk about them. Are you new to BJDs? I ask because you said that 6 months was a long time to wait. 6 months is a little on the long end, but not that unreasonable, since BJDs are always custom orders. If you are new to BJDs, I'm so sorry that your first experience was with Dollshe. He's literally one of the worst possible companies to work with, and he makes for a very poor introduction to the BJD world.
Your dolls are not banned as you ordered prior to the company ban date. You can share them on DoA if you’d like.
Thank you for your kind words, I really appreciate it I mean, I'm not that much of a newbie, as I started in 2014, but to be honest, I've never had to wait more than 3 months with other companies. But that's just me and my experience I'm just trying to figure out what kind of logic Dollshe follows...
If you’re looking for logic, you probably won’t find it. He’s straight up scamming people now. I’m impressed that you actually got your dolls honestly, I would have expected the box of nothing on mine as well.
@Tsuna I'm so happy for you that you received your dolls in the end! Reading your story I was a bit anxious to see what would happen but let out a sigh of relief it worked out with your persistence. Sorry you went through that, and to eveyone else affected. Despite everything I still love to see people's dollshes if they choose to share them.
My friend’s/my wait was three years iirc. The wait between my friend handing off the order to me and me receiving the doll was December-January, but the doll was ordered in December 2021, and arrived January 2025.
I pretty much live-blogged how I did it in this thread. I suggested that I would buy another doll after this one arrived (I won’t) and I paid extra shipping ($60 usd in total—via PayPal so I could claim it back if he didn’t ship). I would genuinely rather not receive the doll than give him money for an “in stock” doll that is someone else’s paid property.
I'm going to cry. I just read the thread again and this is just awful I will try your suggestion about the 1$ option and see if he will deliver my dolls They are supposed to be sent unstring and boxed since last year to save shipping costs. He clearly won't refund me and is not going to respond unless I "buy" from him.
All 3 of my last, long waited, recived dolls have been perfect. Also my 2, I got earlier. Sad to hear about your experience.
I took a big hiatus from the community and as I was leaving the Dollshe train wreck had just started. And upon returning it's sad to see a lot of the issues remain unresolved although I'm glad some of you are starting to get your dolls in. It's such a pity because I used to love the sculpts and urethane eyes made by this company. Wish all of you the best!
Frostbitten was a UK dealer for Dollshe back in the time, before Dollshe decided to stop all relations with dealers (except for BJDivas) around in 2018. I know because my only two Dollshe dolls were bought through them and managed to receive before they stopped relations. Frostbitten already had trouble to get orders, whether they had any pending orders I do not know but I think they ceased being dealers altogether later in the years (but can't remember the precise year). I don't know if tinyflame might be referring to this dealer or not, but I just wanted to chime in to say that there were indeed other dealers (at least one) for Dollshe.
The dealer might be offering a deal, either in price or in extras you can get if you spend over X amount, that the artist isn't. Dealers might have longer or better layaway policies. The artist might only be selling things directly on a platform you don't use or understand. If you want to buy a number of things from different companies but would rather have them sent in one big parcel rather than five different smaller ones then a dealer can do that. Dealers also have in-stock items that you can get much quicker, or past their limited time release date. A dealer might also have more weight when dealing with a difficult artist if they're advocating for 15 people's orders, rather than fifteen individual people trying things with varying degrees of success.
I bought from BJDivas in hopes it would be more likely that Dollshe would fill the order. He was just starting to go wonky on that.
Oh helpful!! It could be Frostbitten that was referenced in the emails/in the Reddit thread then! From their website, it looks like they stopped as a dealer in 2019, to advance their career outside of the hobby. I can’t find an email on their page, but their business name was also not in the email I was given for PayPal. While I won’t disclose the full email address for privacy reasons, the domain on the email was @naver.com, which iirc is predominantly used in South Korea, which, either indicates that their UK dealer is fluent in Korean (which would make sense) or is from South Korea. I took it to mean that it could be a sock puppet account for Dollshe.
I am here for an update. Told him I want my dolls delivered first and then get the “new doll” after, but now he’s saying if I order THREE MORE DOLLS he can send me my dolls with them with a total of SIX DOLLS???? He’s saying preorders are free but I have to order three more now. This is ridiculous.
Received an email response from him. He said he can't cast my orders (that has been packed and ready to ship according to him last, I dunno, September?) unless I buy 3 more dolls from him. He really insists that one is to one idea now. I'm convinced my three dolls are either held hostage in stock OR been sold to someone else. I am losing hope at this rate and just try to think of this as a lesson.
He is mentally unwell... I heard from a friend that her friend ordered two dolls from Dollshe, and he tried to charge her twice by claiming he never received the payment. On top of that, he even sent her sensitive data about other customers to appear more trustworthy. Apparently, he shared full names and addresses without any regard for privacy. Tbh, I’m just glad I got my dolls and don’t have to deal with this scammer. I will ask my friend if that person can share their story on Facebook or Reddit (I am not sure if she has an account here)
I just want my dolls. I saved up all my money back then, for months. Been wanting his dolls for ages and my first order this happens. What luck.
Is there any way to get the authorities involved? I received an email again from him still refusing to send my stuff without ordering a new one.
I would think so! I never had luck in my experience with international scams but depending on your local laws you may have some options. Definitely check with your local police to see what protections and rights you have. And if it's within your means a lawyer as well. Best of luck Amaera!
I’m not sure if posting his reply to me here is allowed or not but when I asked him if he resold my dolls he did not answer. Instead, he told me this: [ Dear (my name), The price for Order #(my order number) doesn't even cover the casting costs. I sold that BJD at a complete loss. As I have repeatedly explained, I will never offer discount sales again. Even if it means taking a financial hit, I am committed to completing the deliveries for existing orders. The problem is, I cannot guarantee when the current shipping delays will be fully resolved. If you order one additional BJD, I can secure the funds needed to cast two BJDs. However, even if you place an additional order, I will have to use all of that money to cast the two BJDs. Realistically, ordering just one more BJD does not make it possible to ship three BJDs in total. You are not the only one with a request. Many others have also asked: “Can I just pay extra shipping and receive my delayed BJDs?” “I have two BJDs delayed, but can I order just one more and receive all three?” But the reality is, I do not have the financial means to do that. For now, I suggest you place an additional order for one BJD and choose which of your delayed BJDs you want to receive first. That way, you can at least receive two dolls sooner rather than waiting indefinitely. I am currently working on funding a new business that doesn’t require capital investment, and I am also running a YouTube channel to generate revenue. However, making enough profit in a short period of time is extremely difficult. I sincerely apologize that I cannot ship your dolls without an additional order. Sincerely, Sculptor DK ] This is insane…
Oh god. Where to even begin with that response. I find the part where he admits his sales prices were so low that they didn’t even cover casting deeply infuriating. It was his shortsighted error, putting up sales he knew he couldn’t fund, that he now wants you to bail him out if, by overpaying for a “new” doll that will probably never exist. He admits to this error, but refuses to take any responsibility to make right the egregious wrong he’s done you, over those 3 dolls. “even if I am taking a financial hit” is some bonkers language to hear from a man who has admitted that he ran off with your money. Where has he ever taken a hit? He should take a hit. He should sell his luxury car, or one of his other businesses or take out a loan to start casting for customers. He’s trying to act like a martyr and I have no patience for it. He scammed himself into this corner—he should darned well be the one paying to get out of it, but he keeps trying to push customers he’s wronged to save him from his own bad behaviour
