yes that is crazy and make no sense, and my 1 year old order is treated like new one comparing how long people are waiting for a doll... for Maya I am waiting since Jan 2022 and there is no response from them so I guess this is it... I guess the fact I received Lisa was just a miracle... I do not see many Lisa around, it is strange sometime ago I ordered Ausley 50cm and after a year when I asked about her they actually adviced the refund as they doubted that there will be enough orders to cast her and they refunded my money. but now about Maya they asured me few times that for sure she will be made and everytime different/the same excuses about delay until they stoped responding at all. I should have asked for refund via paypal before 180 days now it is too late
I hope there will be some justice for you, and everyone else Dollshe scammed. I can't wait to see how you style your Lisa, though. I follow you on Instagram, I think. Even if I don't, I see your photos all the time.
I am an old school Dollshe person...have one of the first Bermanns & other Dollshe dolls and always admired Mr. Kim's work. Seemed a bit flighty at times but always came through. The Mr. Kim nowadays? He's just bailed on all of it and I think that blows. I'm still in some disbelief it's come to this cos he usually pulled through - took a while, but he still pulled through and I at least had *some* communication. But now...after zero responses from any of my inquiries about my order from Jan. 2021 (since April) I can only deduce that he's just taken everyone's $$ and run. WTF???
I am so sorry for everyone here waiting for a doll from Dollshe. I just saw the post on DOA at top of page and I sincerely hope everyone can get a refund as I don't think the quality has been there for awhile now. This also effects any companies like Dollstown who used Dollshe for a casting service. I think that is why DT is seriously going to cast their own dolls now. Good luck to you all.
Well, my 1 year anniversary has come and gone. And I just looked at this guy's Instagram, whoami10110100, and am even more infuriated. Blathering on about looking for happiness in life, work isn't even work when its fun (re: his new business), and posting pictures of his children and of himself in the gym recovering from some torn ligament or something. No sympathy here, sorry to say, skippy. Maybe that's a little karma and bad juju for stealing from customers? Do your children know you steal? Are those the values you instill in them??? A new business venture won't be so great or successful when those customers find out how you "do business", if you can even call it that. So angry. So angry.

I ordered a Doma from Dollshe at the end of last year and asked several times what was going on and didn't get an answer. I had agreed on two installments and had to confirm with a button on the second installment that I had received the doll. Otherwise Paypal Dollshe wouldn't send the money and he can't start manufacturing. I'm a stupid sheep and I trusted Dollshe. I reported the case to Paypal. But PayPal didn't even want to have the email history in which it says that for the second installment, I have to confirm to PayPal that I have received the doll. I also ordered a lot of dolls from Dollshe and am extremely disappointed. (Unfortunately my English is bad and I have to use the translator to help)
@TheyCanSeeInTheDark Dude, that is so sketchy. So not only does he take money and not produce the dolls that the money was meant to pay for, but now he requires buyers to lie on Paypal and confirm that they got a doll before he'll even start producing it. He's basically holding your order hostage until you give up your ability to take action if he doesn't actually fulfill the order. You should definitely share this information with BJDivas and whomever else is involved in this lawsuit.
So alittle update on my DollShe orders. I placed a few orders during one of those sales, I genuinely wanted to give Mr. Dollshe the benefit of the doubt, but he ghosted me. When rumors about Mr. Dollshe closing his doll studio, many people direct messaged me warning me. I am extremely happy that people look out for one another. When I messaged Mr Dollshe, I used MailTracker to get confirmation when he read my messages. I knew the emais didn't go to his junk or spam inboxes. Despite Mr. Dollshe going radio silient, he did email once asking me to cancel my PayPal transactions and send him the money via E9Pay, which came across as super shady to me. He told me that he could not access the PayPal funds and that it was disrupting his business. It made me think, and whose fault is that? Not the client. Right before my first order would no longer be protected under the 6th month period, I submitted a complaint with PayPal and they ruled in my favor. PayPal refunded me in full. I am very sad that other collectors have been waiting so many years and yet they still have no dollls.
I placed an order for a Diana during one of Dollshe's now-infamous sales, and count myself fortunate that I was able to cancel and get a refund after a year of waiting. I sincerely hope that everyone Dollshe ghosted is able to get some justice out of all this.
Looks like the website is gone now, not sure if this is new news but the last few posts didn't mention it so thought I would.
Is your link not working, perhaps? Just wondering because I just googled it and it came up. Showing more make believes that real casted dolls from what I can see.
I also want to confirm that the Dollshe Craft website did work for me as well. I was able to navigate the site as normal. However, I woud not be surprised if the site goes down in the future. I hope that people with pending orders, have saved screentshots of their orders and gather as much documentation as possible. From the rants Mr. Dollse has written, it seems that dollmaking is no longer his raison d'etre like it was during the late aughts. Nowadays, he usually writes more passionately about other business ventures and goes on about his contempt towards dollmaking. It's a shame, since he was one of the first to bring a new aesthetic do BJDs and had a built a following with Bermann and Hound. It's very unfortunate that he has purposely eroded almost all of the goodwill he once had with the bjd community. Not just with the notorious wait times, but with the bad customer service, decline of the COAs, to no longer packing the dolls in those pretty Dollshe boxes, to sending dolls unstrung in a cardboard box, and to not properly sanding the dolls. All these factors contributed to Dollshe getting a bad reputation. Mr. Dollshe is a great idea's man, but a business cannot effectivetly run on only creative ideas. Instead of focusing on fufilling pending orders that are years old, he likes showing off his expensive Ferrari sportscars and prototypes. Mr. Dollshe really needs a business minded person that can help him with the cash flow and logistics. Dollshe Craft is 20 years, and if the company continues to operate this way, it's unlikely the company will be around to celebrate another milestone. Maybe Mr. Dollshe can sell the brand to someone that can better manage it. It appears that recently posted this on his Instagram account: It appears he is working with another BJD company "Club CoCo." "I think I will only deal with BJD professionally in my new account. From 2003 to now, BJD has been formed in various ways. I am able to continue making BJD because of many people who like the BJD I have created. I don't know how long I'll do this but I'll do my best while I'm building it. I don't plan on posting photos of ball-jointed dolls on this account anymore. I would like to leave this account as a memory diary covering my main interests, such as daily life, travel, and exercise. I created a separate account that deals only with ball-jointed dolls. If you are interested, please follow the account below. @sculptor_dk"
OK I found a comment from the @sculptor_dk instagram on one of their own posts from seven hours ago which said " I deeply apologize for the serious delay in delivery of some dolls. I receive commissions from various businesses, design requests, and outsourced doll production. There was a problem collaborating with Chinese doll sculptor Mori9, and we had a difficult time not being able to withdraw even 1 dollar for the past 6 months due to large refunds and an increase in PayPal claims. I suffered huge losses as my funds were completely blocked by PayPal. An employee who had been working for 18 years resigned. Several other skilled employees lost their jobs. I will never collaborate with anyone. This incident gave me great insight. The only person I trusted was myself. Starting in December, the DollShe Craft CS team will return and resume email response and delivery. We hope that some of the employees who left will return to DollShe Craft. After this incident, I actually got better at making BJDs. Unlike in the past, DollShe Craft does not have to sell at discounts and maintain large sales by going unreasonably. I can make the BJDs I want and pay my employees even if I only receive orders for 10 or so a month. In the past, we had to receive orders for 100 pieces per month to maintain DollShe Craft. And even though I don't have a BJD business, I am gradually increasing my profits through other businesses, so I can leave BJD making as a hobby. I'm having a lot of fun making BJDs again as a hobby. We are making money through various businesses to solve the problem of delayed delivery of DollShe Craft as quickly as possible. "
Funny how he threw Mori9 under the bus and blames that one occurence on all of his business troubles with Dollshe Craft. Mr. Dollshe's issues are a collection of indicents that span over the years that now have compounded and are coming back to bite him. Despite his best efforts to deflect, the elephant in the room remains, why is he not fufilling all of those outstanding orders?
It's funny to me that he always blames everything on other people, and says he can only trust himself, but the very people he blames only have an issue with him, and don't have these problems with other companies and artists. How does he manage to delude himself that he is not the real problem?
So, then, we can probably establish a list of people who can trust Dollshe: -Mr.Dollshe - - - Mori9 made a post in response to this accusation on Instagram, btw. She states Dollshe still refuses to return her molds or pay her anything.
@makale I am sorry for your order being delayed so much. I have an ongoing order from November 2020 (SD Maya) and another dated January 2021 (SD Marco). I hope they can change my Maya into a Lisa order because actual pictures of Lisa exist, while Maya is not done yet as a prototype. Dollshe has posted new statements on the website. Seems like any kind of communication and customer service is suspended until December. For the first time I read about "financial crisis" and it was not hard to guess it due to the prolonged waits and the mails getting unanswered. I just hope I will receive my dolls someday. Because hope is what remains for sure and what I only have in my hands right now, not the dolls, just hope. I will keep them but surely they will be different characters of mine. I have ordered other BJDs from SartoriaJ, I got them both in a year and I also went for the longest layaway.
At one point, I wanted to order a Maya, but I am glad I listened to the warnings. A fellow collector dissueded me, because he told that Maya is still a prototype and that Mr. Dollshe doesn't have Maya ready to be produced. Another collector who purchased a Monica Bellucci, was told by Mr. Dollshe to change the for another 26F face, because the Monica Bullucci also didn't make it past the prototype stage as well. It is super shady, Mr. Dollshe gets unsuspecting customers to place orders in good faith thinking they will get the doll the paid for.
Actually, it was merely luck or order amount that determined which dolls went from sketch file to prototype stage. When I ordered almost three years ago, I did it aware that I would receive my doll in twelve months or so, but not that I would have waited for three years. I have been collecting BJDs since 2007 and Dollshe reputation even during those times was that of the "slow one". Other companies used to fulfill orders in a month while Dollshe required three if not seven months, and it was more than fifteen years ago... This is my only Dollshe purchase after five years of being outside the community, from 2015 until 2020. The situation worsened around that time, as it seems from what I have been reading here. The "financial crisis" was the outcome of the fact that waits were getting insanely longer, so orders dwindled. No more money to feed the circle, plus artists complaining about the long time to get revenues from their work (before Ize and Mori it was the one who created Marco, Lisa, Maya, Teo, Leo and Carl Mars). After that, it became blatant that ordering from Dollshe was an ordeal for anyone. The problem are not only preorders, which are a normal custom for every artist right now, but the fact that other fellow collectors are still waiting for dolls like Arsene, Saints, Berman and other very known models. The "large amount of orders" does not justify the failure in delivery, so what happened? It's what I will never know but I am curious about, because Dollshe has become a case in this niche.
Stock Sale 30%-50% - DollShe craft If you are waiting for your doll please check this In Stock list. He's selling alot of outstanding orders because he can't access the money since his Paypal account is restricted. He's using Dollstowns PayPal account now. If you see your dolls be sure to send him an email telling him to send your doll and copy Dollstown so they know.
Oof, I sure hope he's not throwing Dollstown's account under the bus next if something comes up and he cannot ship the in stock dolls for the excuse of XYZ. Wouldn't be the first time another artist takes the hit from his actions. I'm just at this level of trust with him. I'm interpreting these in stock dolls, if ordered now, do count as banned on DoA as per the mods' banner on the front page here that was published yesterday, so probably discussion on purchasing them is not allowed here.
@V chan - Thank you for sharing the link. It appears that most of the dolls are crossed out. Does that mean they sold out that quickly? If these were in stock, why not send them to the people who originally purchased them. The cynic in me, thinks they were originally purchased in one of those past super sales and now he wants to "double-dip" on the sale. @vauhtikatti - Why would Dollstown allow the use of their PayPal account to accept payments on behalf of Dollshe? Since Mr. Dollshe has such a bad reputation. This seems like such a bad business idea, unless the dolls are already in possession at Dollstown's location. Regarding the new ban, I am curious about those stock dolls too. Those dolls were most likely ordered a long time ago and he is just trying to clear out the stock now.
It's shady overall. I doubt hardly anyone has ever cancelled an order on a ready doll on him, more like they cancelled because he couldn't crank out a doll no matter what, so why'd he make dolls for "cancelled orders" instead of finishing the orders he has? I'd think there are pending orders with these exact combinations, too, since they are rather common types of dolls. Like, I know my friend is literally waiting on a doll since 2019 where Dollshe would have to just shift the parts of two of his "in stock" dolls around, and he'd have her order fulfilled and another doll to sell in stock. But I guess that's not it, selling the same doll twice is. I'd go as far as to speculate he hasn't got anything ready and waiting. I can only see one scheme for his new sales tactics in my head - Customers pay Dollstown in G&S, Dollstown transfers the money to Dollshe via an unprotected bank transfer since they're both Korean, Dollshe does not deliver or makes excuses why it takes longer than promised, clients are forced to claim a refund from Dollstown. But guess if Dollshe will refund Dollstown if that happens? At this point, whoever does business with Dollshe has had it long time coming, so I can't help but wonder why are people still trusting him like this.
As far as his "in-stock" doll sale goes, I know my order from a little over a year ago was one of the dolls listed before being crossed off - down to the body, color, and special package number. Couldn't just ship product to a waiting customer who has already paid, I guess. That just makes too much sense.
"18M Fashion Line: OE,EN,SA Saint Head +18M Mistic Body +Special package(Fresh) 1" This was my exact order from over two years ago. I was told back in March that was doll was completed and ready to be shipped. I had been sending emails for months since then inquiring about it with no reply. If that is in fact my doll... I have no words.
Considering Dollshe got banned from DoA....... I'm not surprised, cause at this point well, I hate to say it but he kinda deserves it from the way he is running things.... This whole thing of selling customers' pre-ordered dolls as in-stock via Dollstown's Paypal feels like the straw that broke the camel's back after all he's done. Needless to say, if I ever find myself wanting one of his sculpts, it's gonna be a second hand doll.
Just when you think he can't sink any lower...he does! He's getting double the price selling already made for and paid for dolls that were supposed to be shipped to the people who originally ordered them...amazing. Karma to him.
This is correct - any new purchase is banned, even if the doll is supposedly in stock. If someone manages to get him to send them the doll they ordered and uses the list to do so that would not be considered banned as it is simply finally fulfilling the original order.
I emailed politely letting him know that if he finds my order amongst all these miraculously discovered in-stock dolls, I'll gladly receive it.
Yeah urgh there's a doll on the list that could potentially be one of the two in my outstanding order from... oopf 2019/2020 given it was a layaway situation. I ordered 4 dolls from him that year, via bjddivas out of the vague sense there'd be more buyer protection with a dealer (hah!) arguably when things were just beginning to truly go pearshaped. Order 1 was fulfilled...very eventually 2 dolls received more or less what was ordered... Order 2 is still very much MIA unlikely to ever materialise.
If unwanted in this thread, I will not be offended if this is deleted at mod discretion, but I am curious after following this ordeal and having seen it finally come to a head this week with the notices. @thedarkeststar13 - did you ever receive any further communication from Dollshe or BJDivas in the year since your last post here?
I'm shocked at how quickly the in-stock dolls seem to have sold. I do hope at least some of those were people who pointed out it matches their old order and managed to get them. :/
I would like to think so, but the most likely scenario is, that he got NEW money for them. Since his influx of cash has been restricted by paypal.
Well, Mr Dollshe is selectively ghosting people. I'm not planning on buying, I am dishearted by the way he has behaved, but I emailed him about one of the stock dolls and he quickly replied asking me to send him a wire transfer. My eyes rolled. The double dipping is disgusting, and knowing how he has lied so many times before, I would not be surprised if those "stock dolls" are nonexistant and he's trying to milk the cow one last timebefore he goes "poof."
@Dollibird My thoughts exactly. I fully expect the Dollshe site will shortly disappear. It goes without saying there was no reply to my email.
@Havra - I am so sorry he ignored your email. Well, in order to help, I went ahead and saved his website on the Internet Archive, since his site has not had recent captures.
@Dollibird and @Havra I'm not surprise that he answered one and not the other. You will see things disappear on his website as he tries to cover his tracks...
after my last post here, Dollshe continued to insist to BJDivas that my Arsene, which had been ordered in July 2019, was completed and in the mail. i kept writing to Divas every month asking if my doll had arrived yet; after 3 or 4 months of being assured it was on its way and then told "it wasn't in this month's Dollshe shipment," i made my usual monthly check-in and BJDivas just told me no, they still didn't have the doll, and they'd refund me themselves and try to get it back from Dollshe later. i did not ask for a refund; it seemed to me like they had no idea how to resolve the situation and were just as sick of it dragging on as i was. i didn't know what else i could possibly do about it, so i accepted their offer and took the refund-- it's not like i was ever gonna get the damn doll anyway. the whole mess was well over 3 years from order to final refund. i don't know if Divas ever got the money back from Dollshe, altho if i had to guess i'd err on the side of hell nope. i did get an Arsene head from the secondhand marketplace this June, tho-- almost 4 entire years from the original order i tried to place. after the absolute bullshit i went thru with Dollshe, i'm actually glad i ended up getting the sculpt from another collector instead, so the unbelievably bad experience with Dollshe isn't attached to the head i own. there is literally nothing that could EVER induce me to even consider buying another Dollshe, not even secondhand. buying the secondhand Arsene head felt like closure/resolution to what has been THE worst hobby experience i have had since i started collecting BJD, but i genuinely don't want a thing to do with anything else related to Dollshe.
He has not replied to my email either since May of this year. I am honestly disgusted. I ordered the dolls last April 2021 and the status from the site says that it was already being packed. I even had to resort to DMing him on Instagram on his main account and his second account, but he only told me to send emails like omg there's a reason I had to result in DMing his socials because I am not receiving any responses anywhere else. I am this close to just fiiling a claim on PayPal. This is my first time ordering something that large and honestly I thought since DollShe was a known brand I wouldn't have any problems but holy cow..
@thedarkeststar13 I am very, very pleased to hear you did finally obtain an Arsene and that you have managed to detach your doll experience from your Dollshe one. @AmaeraSybis If you are still able to file with Paypal, do it. I 10000% would if I still could, as it seems at this point I am out the money. ... Which is a massive blow I am still struggling to process. Even at the discounted price, that was a considerable sum for me. I can't even say "that was a year's worth of doll funds" or put a certain value on it in that way, really, because I don't and did not have income in the simplest sense. Frankly speaking, though I had been wanting it badly, the doll was an impulse buy after a deeply traumatic experience. Adding in the emotional toll of the ensuing four years, compounding the feeling I should have just spent the money on my growing family back then instead of buying myself a luxury item, and the weight of the guilt is making it difficult to continue to justify the hobby as a whole to myself or those around me. I don't want to moan about it too much in 'public'. I'm sure many of you have similar stories, point being: The negative impact that man has had goes far beyond the loss of some disposable cash and I wish you all the best in resolving it.
I am definitely going to try filing that claim. Even though it has been years since. I am also out the money. I bought them on installment using my last job's pay back then (and also a little something to just help me mentally as these dolls were what I really wanted at that time) and now I am just struggling with regret for even getting them because I've been seeing him active on his socials as if he doesn't have a care in the world. Seeing other customers of his receiving their dolls early in the year got my hopes up honestly since I did receive an update for mine last May but that was the end of the updates even until now, he hasn't given me anything other than the promise of "we will definitely send the dolls".
Don't beat yourself up over being taken advantage of. Dollshe is in the wrong here, not you... Feeling bad about the way it's all worked out is natural, but the guilt? Giving in to that is giving a total jerk-wad way more power over you than he deserves.
Please don't beat yourself up too much. It's hard to manage impulse buys when you're feeling badly and want something to cheer you up and make you feel better. You can't have possibly predicted that things would have turned out the way they did. In a better world, you would have gotten the doll with minimal fuss and it would have been something positive in your life. You're allowed to have hobbies that bring you joy, even expensive ones, and people need that joy in their lives to be able to function well.
@Brightfires, @light the light Thank you both. Sorry if I derailed the thread a bit. @AmaeraSybis I'm sorry. It definitely adds to the frustration when he is still so active online but selectively ignoring people, like he thinks we'll eventually just shut up and it'll all blow over. The man is delusional if so. When I see him posting happily about trips with family I wonder if they comprehend what kind of person he really is. I too got the 'it'll be shipped by the end of the month' update back in January. Well, it served its purpose, and strung me along for many more months.
Exactly! I kinda feel bad because he tends to post his daughters and family but knowing what he has done to his customers if really is frustrating. Like, how does he sleep at night knowing full well what he is using to provide to his family is basically stolen money. I have sent him another email regarding my order. I told him that if he does not ship my order within the week, I will pursue a refund through PayPal. I just hope PayPal acknowledges it when it happens because as I've read the claim should happen at most 180 days since payment and I paid him years ago. I also just found out that he has two emails. One for PayPal and the other for orders. I CC'ed both of them in hopes that I receive a reply. I really do like the sculpts that I ordered and the packages I got (which honestly was a great deal considering the price of his regular dolls) but this is too much stress for that.
Guess I won't be getting my refund? This is incredibly upsetting. Oh and I just found out BJDivas posted about this on their Instagram three months ago. No one emailed me about this and I don't use Instagram, so how was I supposed to find out about this? Thank goodness for DOA, or I'd still be sitting here thinking I might possibly get a refund out of BJDivas for my Dollshe order sometime.
Just poking my head in, haven't been on doa for a very long while but I am "waiting" on a Dollshe doll... trying to keep myself updated with the multiple discord servers and facebook groups / forum posts about it.... maybe someone gets something out of this, hopefully not Dollshe~
It's been two years almost not convinced I will ever get my girl. I'm not sure if I should accept the L and look for another sculpt that fits the character or not...
yeah, I also don't use instagram (or facebook) so I'd be totally out of the loop if not for my friend who's on both and keeps me updated. . .
Same here. I have an Instagram I rarely open, and don't use Facebook. If not for Den of Angels I'd have had no idea.
I still have no response from DollShe's email. I haven't contacted PayPal about this in fears I won't get anything out of it since it's past 180 days. I don't know what to do.
