Dollshe Discussion - Part Sixteen

Mar 1, 2020

    1. Do my eyes deceive me or is 65cm Amanda really 75% off currently? I've never seen a doll go so low before and I'm just wondering if there's like, a catch or if this is really just a special event going on?

    2. Pretty sure the only catch is the Dollshe waiting times. If you're good with a ridiculously long wait, then I say go for it. I did. I know I'll probably be waiting till next year or the year after, buuuut worth it. I maaay be waiting for 8 dollshes (5 fashion, 3 classic) now, Amanda included.

      • x 1
    3. Yeah, the catch is that you could have to wait over three years to receive your doll :atremblin but apparently everyone gets their doll if they wait long enough :3nodding:

    4. @TatterPunk @lorenav6661 Ahh ok, thanks guys! I've never ordered direct from Dollshe before so I had no idea their wait times were so long! It's such a good deal though that it feels worth the wait.

    5. That’s what I’m banking on. I’m optimistic—hoping for 2 years, but I plan on just working on my other dolls until she arrives and not thinking too hard about when she’ll get here.

    6. I ordered through BJDivas, I honestly feel safer with them, I think I already shared this here but they told me they're currently taking over a year with every order, but there have been people who have been waiting for only 6 months, I would honestly love to get them soon but I hope they ship the older orders first, since Arsene is one of my dream dolls I don't care if I have to wait 4 years, I'm still going to love him hahaha they're really cheap tbh... It's hard to resist, I'm already looking at Amanda and Diana :XD:

    7. I'd say go for it if you really want her! I have 3 dolls that I've ordered directly from Dollshe and 2 of them are on the way over to me now after an almost 8 month wait.

I find that being able to bug Dollshe directly without going through BJDivas was very helpful, as I got clear updates from them about 2 weeks ago on where my order was at. They had cast one doll already and were about to cast the second one with delivery scheduled for when he was finished. When he was completed, they sent me an update almost immediately and a few days later I got my EMS tracking number too! :)

That being said, I also checked in with them in January and they told me it would be another few weeks for my first order. It wasn't until I emailed them again in April that things really started moving... LOL

    8. My Ausley that I ordered in the event last year took less than 3 months from ordering to arrival but I think I must have been very lucky, am currently waiting for Diana.

    9. clothes for the mystic body besides sartoriaj?

    10. Hiya! I'm new to the Dollshe scene, I just jumped on the huge sale through BJDiva's and got the Ausley in Honey mango and Arsen in Copper. :XD: I just couldn't pass up such a huge sale, even though I know I'll probably waiting a year and half for them, honestly I don't mind so much, I've got other dolls coming in and I'll be pre-occupied with the Venitu I just got which ironically, was really recent I got him. The first owner only just received him a few months ago after waiting two years for him and just got him then put him up for sale. So he was brand new! Lol :o

      • x 2
    11. I'm so jealous haha I love Venitu!! :D

    12. Honey mango is a gorgeous colour. Akusuo (Hound) is honey mango although I still think it should be called salted caramel because that's what the colour is.

    13. The price on the larger dolls is tempting, but I am still waiting on my 41cm David from Dollshe, and it is already over a 1 yr mark, so who knows if I were to order from them again. The waiting is just that.....waiting......

    14. I am still waiting for my order, 25 months later...:sigh

      • x 1
    15. what did you order, out of curiosity?

    16. @Doko what did you order? 0__0. I seem good at waiting. . . but I tend to stress doll-buy. Which is how I ended up with four fashion maxi dolls and a few floating heads from the second hand market while waiting for the ones I'm waiting for. And an off topic doll I just ordered too. Yeeep. I'll probably end up with another Iplehouse doll by the end of the year if my big dolls take too long too lol.

    17. @TatterPunk It is really, really hard to not hit that buy button at the best of times. I'm trying to talk myself out of a purchase (an OT for this thread doll) but it's not going terribly well. This is what happens when you now have time to browse through ALLLLLLL the pages of sale in the MP.

    18. Oh I KNOW. I THINK I am done buying more till the end of the year... I wish Dollshe had more female options. . .or I don't. . . cause I'd be extra doomed. . .

    19. I am relieved that I only collect male dolls. That halves my options right there. It hasn't helped terribly as I currently own 64 dolls but think of the trouble I'd be in if I collected girls, too.

I've already purchased some dolls this year when I didn't think I was going to purchase any. The purchase I'm looking at is dependant on 2 things. Hearing back from the seller of my first choice who hasn't responded yet to my PM (and hasn't been on DoA for almost 12 weeks). If said doll is not available, do I completely lose my mind and go with another doll that I'm eyeballing because I really like him, too.

    20. LOL that MAY have been pretty much what happened with me and the latest doll(s) I ordered. I was ready to get one, but he turned out not to be available, so I went crazy and put classic Arsene on layaway and ordered the OT doll so I at least have a doll to paint while I'm waiting for my Dollshe swarm. Now it's time to get props. All my props are 1/4 size right now, sooo I'm gonna have to get some 1/3+ size things. My Arsene (who will be named Gabriel) needs a piano, and my Diana (who will be named Mina) "needs" a fancy old fashioned couch (I don't even have her yet and she's already a diva), and my Amanda (who will be named Marian) needs all the witchy things EVER.
Speaking of, are there any Etsy sellers who do clothes specifically for the Mystic body? I think someone above asked about it too.

    21. Its far to easy (or at least to me it's too easy) to end up buying a doll. I have 2 second choices if the first doesn't pan out, both of which I hadn't been able to afford when they were initially released years ago. I can now, but should I? The doll would go with 2 I already have making them a thruple (I have several thruples) but... they don't have to be and I'd initially conceived them to be a couple and only went the thruple route when the doll I'm lusting after suddenly popped up for sale.

Have dolls funds, wishes to spend seems to be my default Dolly Brain setting.

    22. I have a small army of Dollshe here. In almost every honeyskin shade and a few pureskins. I'm okay with not buying more. With the state of the world economics and shipping delays, I'm weighing my decisions really carefully. And, it's the start of hurricane season soon. This is not going to be a good year in my part of the world.
      ugh. let's eat cake. :pcake

    23. I reshelled one of my Saints. His name is Zeke. He started out with a brownish beard but it is black now closely matching his wig. He is a moody isolationist forest dweller, sometimes mistaken for a big foot.

      that is an outrage??????

    25. I'd love to see him please

    26. Sure. He's not wearing his right wig as I'm still waiting for it (I ordered it just before the world went on lockdown *sigh*). It will be the same colours but not this style (which I picked up as a temp wig for him). With him in the shot is his partner, Kulfi (Impl Ziv in custom (incorrect) green). They may/may not become a thruple depending on how strong my resistance to buying a doll is (it's not very strong).
[IMG]Kulfi & Akusuo by ID Locke, on Flickr

My camera "corrected" their resin a bit. Kulfi is a bit darker green (like pistachio ice cream) and Akusuo's resin is a touch darker, too.

    27. I agree the honey mango is closer to a light caramel shade...……….although I guess they already had a caramel brown, so maybe that was why they went with Mango? I have a honey mango oriental Arsene and I love the color. Here he is with his sister, who is in the honey caramel brown. Your Hound is gorgeous in that shade @Iron_Dog

    28. Thank you @JinCIncy The caramel brown is a lovely shade. I'm pathetically weak against coloured resin, grey especially (I have 11 grey dolls). I also really like that your Arsene doesn't have the typically... worried/anxious expression that you so often see with that sculpt.

    29. Thanks @Iron_Dog ! I didn't want him to have those "worried" brows, and Lyn (Raftis), who did his face up, did a wonderful job of capturing my vision for him.
Here's a clearer shot of his face

    30. BEAUUUUUUTIFUL!!!!

    31. I'M DEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wish i had space for an Arsene, what a face!

    32. He is perfect, i want to hug him !!!

      • x 1
    33. Oh wow... Haha, to be honest though I was kind of expecting that kind of wait time when I purchased them. I just figured I’d go into ‘buy and forget’ mode and just go on with life till they finally make their way to me, or else I’m sure I WOULD go mad with waiting.

Also being kind of new to buying from this company although not a stranger to browsing them–a lot–are they hurting a lot for money? It seems pretty insane to have 12-12k dolls on sale for a mere $400-ish! Is that... normal for them?

      • x 1
    34. @JinCIncy She did a wonderful job on him. He looks so soft and sweet. The perpetually worried look to the Arsene sculpt is one of the reasons he's never clicked for me. Your guy puts the sculpt in a whole new light for me.

    35. So in terms of Dollshe bodies, I actually have Arsene ordered in the Arsene body, and Aramis in mystic body personally, which body do you like more or is better in it's aesthetics and posing? :)

    36. I have both, I personally like the Arsene body more in terms of aesthetics. While I typically prefer beefy muscular bodies, the Mystic body just feels kinda... unnatural, I guess? Something about the six pack and the not very thick body, as in, the side thickness is too thin. The Arsene body feels more realistic to me. As far as posing goes, they're about the same for me, but I admittedly don't pose dolls a lot, they mostly just stand or sit around for me. :XD:

    37. Ordered an Adonis last month. Paying him off in July, terrified of the wait.

    38. my apologies in advance, but there are so many euphemisms, it makes searching tough... the Mystic body, the nether bits have a magnet, correct? is that the only bit they enclose, or is there another more realistic bit included?
and i was sort of curious, if anyone has these and a 5th Motif Timeless, is the Arsene body more similar to the Timeless?

    39. The nether bits have a small s-hook that's attached to a thinner elastic. Changing between the genitalia part and the cap is like changing hands or feet. There is the cap part and a p**** part (can I say the p word here? Better be safe).

Between the Arsene body and the Mystic body, the latter is more similar to the Timeless body. The Timeless is muscular without being bulky, kind of the same idea as the Mystic body. One thing to note about the TImeless body though is that the neck will appear too long if you're just switching heads on it. The design for Venitu and Goohwa are such that the S-hook goes in through a slot more back on the head than the more common center hole. Google image search Timeless body to see what I mean.

    40. I much prefer the Arsens body over the Mystic body...………...although I have a Mystic pose "plus" body and that may have something to do with it. His belly joint pops out of sync so much its almost impossible to get him to stand. It makes me crazy. He stis most of the time. Arsene is MUCH more stable. I love the Arsene body and wish my Bermann had it too instead of the Mystic pose plus body. I do love the neck joint on the Mystic plus body though.

      • x 2
    41. I originally bought a Mystic body for both of the dolls I'm waiting for. But thenI bought a secondhand Arsene and switched both bodies to Arsenes. I really like his posing.

      • x 1
    42. When I got my mystic bodies they irritated me to no end. I bought the lower body part of the pose body (no belly joint) for my 2 pose+ bodies because i do not like the esthetic of it, but knew from the pose body that it would not really improve the posing.

But after some research I found a simple solution that really did improve the overall stability of the body and the posing: elastic wants to run straight and follow the shortest route. Dollshe gives too much space for the elastic to do just that. Especially inside the legs. The elastic there pushes against the inside of the knee (on the back) and that makes the knees pop which unbalanced the entire body, even when sitting.
What worked for me was making a ball of milliput (or epoxy) and push it up from the knee about 3cm high inside the thigh piece. I made the inside hole of the thigh about half the current size. The aim is to allow the elastic to run through the knee peanut and not touch the backside of the inside of the knee peanut when you have the legs straight. To my surprise, this did not only stop the knees from popping, but improved the balance of the entire body.

Now I do prefer the Mystic body over the Arsene one. I have 4 Mystics and 2 Arsene bodies...

    43. thank you, very helpful tips

    44. All that said, i still have the pose+ lower torso parts - with those belly joints, but I never removed the glue. So I can not test of that simple mod also fixes the belly popping. But a good sueding or maybe gluing it in place should help.

Mine now stand great can do awesome sitting poses!

    45. such great information from all, thank you very much!
@sno4wy - thank you for the "bits" info, it's good to know since pants are sometimes problematic with the bulkier boys... but something about just the cap, it's nice they give you an option.

i actually have a Timeless body (Venitu), so i was looking to see which one you all thought was more similar. it's funny it was sort of backwards from what i thought just looking at them.

Since i have the 28M pose+ bodies coming for Grant & David, i was sort of thinking of the Arsene body, for a new 18M purchase, so it's good to know that one poses well, thx @Mahgiep & @JinCIncy

but that pic above from @Cyador - i like that aesthetic... gonna dig around and check out more owner pics of both.

& @Cyador: that milliput idea is terrific! i had been thinking similar thoughts about my lanky DC boys, how to control the kick & buckling since most joints have no ledges/locks... thank you!

time to do some more homework before i set up another ridiculous Dollshe order... :thumbup

    46. It's been a few years but I have a Dollshe at home again (Bernard) whom I just got second hand and I am over the moon!

I'm having a really fun time crafting for him.

    47. I'm slowly making my way through the past few discussion threads for recommendations, but wanted to hop in here and see what everyone's favorite clothiers for the Mystic body are.

I'll probably put in an order to SartoriaJ next month, but I'd like to find at least one pair of pants (preferably black and tight) while I wait for that to come in. Didn't realize that he quotes an 8-14 week production time.

    48. I have a dollshe Khan and he can't stand. Can you post the picture of how you stabilize the body? Thank you so much.

    49. I caved in and bought her! i got her in copper oriental! i'm so excited now i just wish i had the money for a male dollshe aswell. gaaaaaaahhhh i wish this sale was going on longer. I just found out about it 5 days ago.

    52. I fully expect it to be like, 2 or so years, before I actually see my mine.:...( I bought my Arimis boy on a mystic body last year, and still no word on that. This year I just went into layaway for a Arsene on a Arsene body both in oriental copper... I knew the wait was going to crazy I just figured I'd pay him off in 12 months and then forget about him until I get told he's coming. Haha
