Dollshe Discussion - Part Sixteen

    1. Wait...what? Mr K gonna send us knee and elbow joints free? 18M redesign. In all colors? (no comment on that)
      His emails are entertaining.

    2. Another discontinuation lie? And they are sending people who have 18M body (both classic & fashion sizes) free new elbow & knee joint? Personally it seems like a scam for "shipping money". First, they have not even created the so-called "new joints". Second, how many 18M they have produced in the past? Free stuff for all 18M owners? No way. I really don't think they have tons of backlog, on the contrary I guess they don't have many orders due to their poor reputation and they are just reluctant to cast until they have enough orders.

Honestly I find it very difficult to understand their business logic. They don't seem to care about their integrity.

    3. Thank you. He is a bit of a mystic!

Thanks! I took a chance on the paletan many years ago- no regrets. And thank you for the link to lukoshka25's two different sized Saints. Man, they both seem to have that Dollshe 'presence'! What stunning dolls. I think I would also need to have them both together to decide between them *cries* now to wait for a paletan fashion size Saint to come up on the secondary market lol

I love your Caleb, he has nailed that intense Saint gaze perfectly!

Lol yes, a Saint in each size is now my wish too! And in each resin tone...

Anaximander is cool. I would like to give him a hug, it looks like he's been through a lot.

Baileyana looks amazing, his face up is incredible. And yet still, I can tell he's a Saint ;)

Here's an oldie of Noah during his glam phase:

    4. I swear if I don't know what a hot mess Dollshe was I'd hit buy on one of the fashion Saints. The price is so very tempting. But I do know so it's a pass because life it too short to wait literal years for a doll to arrive.

      • x 3
    5. @SteamWitch - Colour and Baileyana are so gorgeous <3

@Saba - NOAH!! Aww, I just want to give His Grumpiness a hug. :D (Shh, don't tell Desmond I said that!)

@kagami - Ugghhhh Caleb is just stunning. The scars, the facial hair... :nosebleed

@Thymeseer - Ooh wow, he's got some intense scarring going on there. Did you do it yourself? I'd love to know more about him!

    6. If you look at the waiting list, they have more than enough orders to cast. As far as I can tell, they have 2+ years of orders that need to be cast, and, as someone who has been already waiting over a year for a doll, I think that counts as "tons of backlog"

      • x 6
    7. @Saba -- I don't have a 70cm Dollshe doll, but I do have a lot of 65-67 cm dolls... And a fashion size Arsene. I'd say that my fashion size Arsene just handles a lot differently than my SDs. It's a very different experience - but the difference in feeling is the same as when I'm playing with my larger SDs vs my 40ish cm girl dolls. The smaller Arsene has little heft/weight, and feels more like kind of a contained visual art piece to me. Hopefully that helps at least a little. ... He's cool but feels a little less engaging than some of my other dolls - which is strange because I do really like a lot of my similarly sized female dolls.

      • x 1
    8. I can't comment on Dollshe fashion size as I don't own any but I've found that there is a lot of variety to the feel of MSD's in general. Some of my guys feel quite substantial as far as heft/weight while others seem lighter than they should be (they're not fragile/delicate though). Some also have a presence that others don't seem to have.

But I also get that sense with my SD's and tinies, too. Some of my tinies (I have almost exclusively mature tinies) have very big presence while others do not. I'd say it was a fair statement to say that some of my tinies have a presence that is equal to or rivals some MSD's or even SD's. Sleet (Soom Auber storm Sprite) has VERY big dick energy about him despite being 30cm. Kulfi (Impl Ziv, 57cm) has huge big dick energy and has more presence than Macian (Spirit Doll Dark, 70cm). Macian is physically a very heavy doll but Kulfi has more... omph to his personality.

For my Dollshe boys, Wu-Tyr (Orijean) is much more... commanding than Akusuo (Hound). Both are gods in my Divine Worship World so they're more or less on equal footing as far as characters go. To be fair, Wu-Tyr is an Elder God where Akusuo is not, but there's just something about Wu-Tyr that pushes him higher when you see the two together. Even people unfamiliar with their characters will comment about that.

I think it's fascinating how dolls can project different things (face-ups and clothing choices aside). Sure, some of it is simply us as owners putting certain traits on a doll because that's his/her character. But when other people who don't know of the character comment on it or when non-doll people comment on it, that's really cool to me.

    9. @Saba Noah is so gorgeous! I love that pale tan.
Anaximander would happily accept a hug! Then try to keep you for a couple hours to tell you alllllll about this great guy, the Mourning God, and how he's a totally cool dude to worship. He'd be very polite about it though.

@SteamWitch Color and Baileyana are so much fun! They're so bright!

@Quiet and Insane Yep, I did it myself. It's all school glue, scrunched up pieces of paper towel, and pastels. He's had a hard go at life, but has worked his way up to a very comfortable existence. Sort of. Plenty to eat, a warm place to sleep, a job as high priest of totally-not-a-cult, people who follow him and listen to what he says, governments trembling in fear etc. And his really cool god has given him all sorts of powers with literally no strings attached because he just likes him. Supposedly.

      • x 4
    10. @Thymeseer You have a Mourning God? I have one as well (more or less). Wai-Lan is the God of Pain & Sorrows. Vasyl is his Agony and one of his husbands. Macian is a High Priest of Bao-Tein, Goddess of the Forge & Metalworking, and the third of their thruple pairing.

    11. Noah and Des need to hang out again STAT ! We can hug each other’s Saints lol

Thank you so much for your opinion. This is what I was thinking -may- be my experience too. So much of my love of the Saint is tied into his weight-iness (sorry, I don’t think that’s a word) that I was worried if I diminished his heft, his presence may diminish also? I think I’m just going to have to set him up as a kind of display, so my wrists don’t get fatigued moving him around lol

This is so true! I remember when a non doll person made one of Noah’s Flickr pics get heaps of views, and it was quiet surreal thinking he had crossed over into ‘gasp’ mainstream! I still don’t think they ever realised he was a doll ;)

He does look like he would have many cool stories to tell!

Love Hunter’s eye colour with that tan skin. I imagine he could be a guitarist, maybe?

      • x 1
    12. @Thymeseer - It looks amazing! I have a doll who has extensive burns-scars all over the left side of his body (which needs a good bit of tlc and repainting done). Sounds like he's certainly had an eventful life then. ;)

      @SteamWitch - Yay, Hunter too! :D

@Saba - Yes! :D One grump of Saints incoming. It's been so log since we've gotten a chance to hang out! Maybe once restrictions ease further we could have a small meet and invite all the other grumpy boys.

    13. @Quiet and Insane sounds like a plan :cool:It has certainly been too long between meets!

    14. Hi hi!!! I have a quick question to ask.

Which is easier to find clothes and things for? The 18m classic maxi 70cm or 44cm bodies?

      • x 1
    15. Yes, he is the rhythm guitarist for R3S1N8 the band that plays at the Pub.

    18. All these Saints.... so gorgeous :love i love seeing all the pictures <3
i really like the mystic body with the neck joint... i think i'm doomed to wait :pout:

    19. Thank you @Saba. Besides my dolls, the Pub and it's decor is another of my passions

    20. Hi hi! To be honest I think both sizes are a little hard to find Clothes for. To me personally I think the 70cm is easier to find clothes for. I have a 70cm Dollshe boy and he can fit Iplehouse, Idealian, and SartoriaJ clothing/shoes. But I don't own a 44cm so I am not sure how easy it is to find clothes/shoes for that size. The 70cm can sometimes fit in normal 70cm shirts as well if its big, flowy, baggy, or stretchy.
      Hope this helps!

      • x 1
    21. Thank you so much for the answer! Do you think the '73cm' clothes, from taobao fot example, would fit? I NEED a Teo.

    22. I want to say yes but that entirely depends on the measurements of the doll vs clothing. I would think around the 75cm park would be just fine.

    24. Sorry about the flowers, but Rainn does look very beautiful. :D

    25. Lucky Rainn! I can't remember the last time it properly rained here. Your flowerbed and I both wish some of that sky-water would head over to my state and give y'all a break!

      • x 3
    26. Rainn is looking so gorgeous! I hope your flowerbed drains well when it stops and they get plenty of water to look beautiful for you.

    27. Thank you!
I'm good with that, wish I could send it your way.
Thank you, he charmed the socks off of me when he arrived.

Flowers are quite happy with the rain and it drained off fairly quickly but it rained again this morning. Toads be happy and singing, mosquitos breeding and my porch is covered in retreating snails. It wouldn't be so bad if the rain cooled things down but it is still hot, so it's like a sauna when you go outside.

    31. Hey guys, I've ordered 2 dolls from Dollshe in May 2020. I've been messaging them for a status update but I'm not receiving any reply. I bought directly from their site.
I am aware of the long wait but they don't even reply messages? Has anyone had this kind of experience? I'm quite worried because since it's been 14 months now, there is no PayPal refund etc.

    32. @Azali They reply... sometimes... from what I've seen in the waiting room. Are you using the same email address as they use for PayPal? That's the one they used to reply to me from when I had a direct order with them.

      • x 1
    33. @Azali it took them I think 8 days to reply to my question. Of course it was all just asking me to be patient, but I did get a reply.

    34. Ordered back in June of 2019 and now heard BjDivas finally got a shipping notice group that included my doll. So I am very hopeful and happy that I will actually get her in the next 2 months. It does take them a week to get back to you if you send a question to Dollshe in my experience.

    35. I am so very excited for you @Cherylsdolls ! A Dollshe arriving home seems like a very exciting event! Please let us know how it goes. I ordered Leo last winter, so I hope I might be lucky by New Year 2024 to have a brand new Dollshe.

      • x 1
    36. what was that tosh that Dollshe announced a while ago? Something about having all the backlogged dolls shipped out in 6 months....

      • x 3
    37. congrats @Cherylsdolls what great luck yours was in the delivery! :clover

@Girrl - i wish it was true :eusa_pray but, prolly tosh indeed  wonder if i'll get the new knees :XD:

i waffle between being kind of hopeful and feeling like a complete idiot for how many i have waiting. and then doing the newer ones anyway, knowing full well the situation. i wanted a pretty specific jointing combo, so pretty much screwed for second hand market. sigh.
Dec 2019, June 2020 & May 2021. what is wrong with me. :doh as recently as March 2021, the 2019's weren't done and i was able to change the jointing and resin colour, so that should screw me up til 2024 also, i'm sure.
i'll be hanging out with mollym, and we'll be a-waiting

love seeing everyone's pics though, they all look amazing! :love

    38. Thank you for your feedback guys!
      Finally Dollshe answered.

"We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the delay in delivery. We fully understand that you were disappointed with the long waiting time. We had a high order volume and a shortage of replication staff.

There were times when the materials did not arrive properly, and the delivery box did not arrive on time because of a fire at the delivery box company. Rising material costs, rising shipping costs , A lot has happened in 2020.

There has never been a delay like this before 2020. I'm not doing this maliciously. The biggest reason is that the delivery is delayed due to Covid-19 due to a different daily routine. Yesterday we have announced that we are hiring two more employees. We all know it's a difficult time. New employees have come in, and they are learning the cloning job. Cloning will be faster soon. Please wait a little longer."

So yes, no end in sight but fingers crossed.

    39. Oh yeah. Lalala. Everyone in business went through many crises. I pretty much lost my own business. But the lack of communication after my 20 month wait made me get a refund for my two. Bought two LS bodies and never looked back. The fire and the delayed deliveries are new excuses. Who knows if this is complete hooey? He changed the resin colors while I was waiting which screwed my hybrid plans, too. BJDivas on the other hand told us about delays before my order went through, had some dire illness, a warehouse move, and a flood and continued on, communicating constantly. Sharp contrast and just makes me angry to hear his excuses suddenly.

      • x 5
    40. @Cherylsdolls Happy to hear your order is on its way. It gives me hope for my own, which as of last week is now officially two years old. *sad trumpets*

As if I needed another reason to be thinking about it daily, though! Every single time I check my email my eyes scan for BJDivas first. :doh

I’m with many of you on the fact that this experience has soured doll purchases as a whole. I have held off on some non-Dollshe buys merely because I dread waiting for them. It’s a bit silly, actually, because at least one of those items would have certainly shown up in the time I’ve been putting off the order itself.

And… maybe it’s kinda lame compared to some other reasons an unexpectedly long wait can suck, but I’ll complain anyway since this too is affecting my enjoyment of the hobby: I really like to do photo stories and I have been holding off on several because of this body not being here. The doll in question is currently on a borrowed body, (and the character he borrowed from isn’t finished/ready for display anyway) so it isn’t like he’s gathering dust in a drawer, but not only is he a different colour, he is supposed to have extensive tattoos—so I have keeping him fully clothed in my photography to disguise the fact they are not there. I was really hoping to finally do some kind of beach photostory this year, but I’ve resigned myself that even if the body arrived tomorrow I haven’t got enough summer left to get his tattoos done. (Winter here is deeeep snow and -20+ and it starts in October and I work sloooow…) Soooooo… next year… which is what I said last year… and the year before…

It’s very much a lame first world problem, but I’m feeling complainy today.

@Mahgiep You really said it. At a certain point excuses go from sincerely contrite explanations to, well, excuses to defer consequences so one can keep at the same behaviour… as soon as it doesn’t sound like he’s actually sorry anymore they just make you angry. He’s been talking about hiring staff (yesterday??) for ages now. I think someone else said it a while back, but the pay must either be awful or the guy is horrid to work for or both. Or, you know, he’s lying.

AAHHHHH I need to put down my phone.

EDIT: Oh, oops, I thought I was in the waiting room. Guess it’s hard to talk about Dollshe without talking about… waiting… for… Dollshe…

      • x 4
    41. I can also understand the whole “put off ordering from others due to dollshe”
You would think that a 15 month and 20 month wait would make any other wait feel like a breeze, but instead, it’s made me less patient than I used to be. 6-12 months used to be my norm, now if it reaches 9 months, I’m grumpy, let alone trying to deal with another 12 + month wait

      • x 1
    42. I try to support the artist/company whenever possible but the business practices of Dollshe make me want to not do that for him. I'm fairly easy going and understanding but if you want to get on my bad side for the rest of eternity, lie to me. Dollshe did that repeatedly to me. My order was constantly at the "almost done" stage for over a year according to them. Yeah. The 55cm boy has never seen the light of day and it's been close to 3.5 years since the first pre-order.

I'm currently waiting on an Impl doll in custom green. I've been waiting for 1.5 years. I was sent a doll but the green was not correct at all. I notified them immediately and not only did they apologize and say they'd re-make him, they told me to keep the "wrong" green one as a gift. That was in the first week of January 2020 *sigh*. Covid happened shortly after and the whole world shut down for months. Businesses closed for good. When I'd email Impl to ask for a status update, they were (in my opinion) very open and honest with the problems they were having in their supply chain. Their colour mixing place wasn't open for quite some time and when they did, they were having trouble filling orders. Impl eventually made the decision to look for a new company that was more reliable and had a tough time finding one. I wasn't demanding a date but just to know what was going on and they told me as well as answered promptly. They also acknowledged the time I'd waited and my patience and it didn't feel like they were saying that to placate me.

    43. I've been watching Mr. Dollshe's Instagram account. Leo's head has been 3D printed. I also saw some notice on the site about the joints being modified. Some previous dolls can get new joints made for free, and dolls that have been ordered will arrive with the new joint style. I see these as good news, and thought that it would be of interest to some.

    45. @harpers-child That's the thing about these dolls. They find a good home, and before you know it they've invited their friends, family and sometimes even friend-imies into the household.

@SteamWitch Your guy looks so good! It looks like he's in maximum relaxing mode!

    46. Thank you!

I also agree with these boys inviting others to join them. I had 7 Saints at one time.:sweat
I now have 5 Saints, 1 Bernard, 1 Bermann, 2 Aramis, 2 Hounds, 2 Orijeans. Most are hybrids. I'm a sucker for homeless Dollshe heads at times.

      • x 1
    47. @SteamWitch 7 Saints? Wow!

For me it's not so much specific companies that is my downfall. But it is characters. I'll see a doll that absolutely screams he is X character. Ok. I buy him. Now he needs his partner. Ok. I go looking for him. I find him but in the looking process, I find this other doll that is Y character. Damn it! Fine. I buy him, too. Naturally I need to start looking for his husband because I can't have unpaired dolls in-house. I find his husband but discover it's actually a thruple pairing so I need to find their third. While looking for their third (who I eventually find), I spot somebody else.

It's basically a perpetual dolly buying machine at this point. I'm not mad about it but my wallet is.

      • x 3
    48. This is exactly what happens with me. I have managed to do kpop groups (who don’t need partners) but then need a GROUP instead of one more! Trouble! And of course I need every Asian face I see. So I guess I’ve gone from characters to geographical area which increases possibilities geometrically!

      • x 1
      • x 6
    49. @Mahgiep Even though it's just my characters from my novels, I've managed to amass 71 of these wallet vampires. I highly doubt I'm "done" either. I am heavily addicted to resin in the form of dolls.

@Havra I don't think that photo is going to help the dissuading. It looks way too cool. Gagh! It makes me want a Saint even more than I already do.

      • x 2
    50. Hehehehe, I would never try to dissuade anyone from another Dollshe.... are they sorta hard to buy? Yeah..... but...... you know they are really great and one is only enough for so long.

Does anyone have the Mystic Pose body? My Saint is on a Pure body and I am lead to believe that the Mystic is bigger, beefier. How much so? I'm trying to go through what I already own and hope that I have enough on hand for when Leo makes it home. It might be awhile from now, but seeing the 3D printed head makes me very optimistic.

    51. @Iron_Dog Well, while I’m at it, at 71 dolls does it really matter in the grand scheme of things if you get one more? :thumbup

Much broader, @mollym, by 2cm in the shoulders and thicker everywhere else to match. I recently sold my Saint’s original Pure body so I can’t take a side-by-side, but these might give you an idea…?

Photos of Arsene and Hound bodies. (Pretty sure that classic Hound body and the Pure are very close in dimensions.)

Mystic and Arsene bodies side-by-side and Pure body photo scaled pretty accurately to the Mystic at the bottom…

My faceplate Saint is on a Mystic body (see my last post) but that look might not be for everyone. It’s a little small in person. But I find it works in photos because heads tend to be closer to my camera and end up looking bigger than they are. The head of that Bernard he is holding is a Grown version intended for the Mystic body and you can see the size is considerably different. Kind of those ‘cannot unsee’ things once you notice how off the scale is, lol. I really try not to photograph those two near each other.

I also have a faceplate Bernard but I just don’t like him as much for that character for some reason… much narrower face, just doesn’t seem right…

    52. @Havra Well my wallet believes it to be an issue so.... I also can't be as free with the buying as Covid canned my job and I'm unemployed currently.

I have 2 Dollshe's right now; an Orijean (Wu-Tyr) and a Hound (Akusuo). Akusuo came with 2 other heads so if I were able to find bodies for them (honey mango oriental *sigh*) I'd potentially have more. I do have the SA faceplate for Wu-Tyr, too, but then I'd need a headback AND a body (pure oriental but still).

To be absolutely honest I've been eyeballing a doll as a possible upcoming b'day present to me and Dolly Brain is being very unhelpful in saying that a Saint would make a lovely partner for him. Dolly Brain needs to shut the hell up and stop sounding so logical before my wallet clocks it in the back of the head with a pipe out of self-defence.

    53. @SteamWitch Oh, thank you! The photos are very helpful! I had wondered if the Mystic would need larger pants for the waist being a bit bigger. So, it looks like pants and maybe shoes might need to be larger than what I have in my stash. I really didn't want to get any more clothes until I have the doll in hand. I have some extras that might fit, I'm sure I have a top that will.

    54. I hadn't realized that the old Hound body had such a nice booty. I like the look of him having some junk in the trunk over the pancake butt. Yeah, it makes getting pants on a bit more challenging but I think the overall shape is nicer. Both my guys are on the Pure body.

      • x 1
    55. Definitely need bigger pants for the Mystic body. I couldn't handle how much bigger it was than most of my boys so I sold it after waiting 54 weeks for it (lucky at that). I couldn't wrap my hand around his waist and as twitchy as my hands can be I didn't want to drop him.
I love the pure body though, I have an old hound and a DSAM but the pure body is my fav.

    56. I've loved dollshe's classic sculpts (hound, bernard and saint) for years, but never had a doll beyond 64cm tall.
Having a 65cm girl coming, gave me the perfect opportunity, to look into owning a dollshe of my own.

I was able to purchase a dollshe saint from the mp this week, and I am looking forward to his arrival. I was wondering if anyone could help me, as a dollshe newbie: what size eyes best fit saint, (sa and oe) and what size pants and shirts best fit them?

I've seen so many size variations on etsy for dollshe boys, it's become a tad overwhelming and I really want to avoid purchasing the wrong size, if I can. Thank you for your time and help. Once my new guy is home, I'll be sure to share pics.

I love all the photos on this thread, such gorgeous guys.
