Dollshe Discussion - Part Seventeen

I can remember back in the day...when we all started the 1-year club.... Now that actually sounds good as my order in March will mark THREE YEARS.

There is no excuse for this.

 

Out of curiousity I emailed Dollshe. I said I was interested in buying the doll but that I'd heard multiple stories of people having to wait years for their dolls to ship so I was worried about that in the event I decided to purchase.

I am not seriously considering the purchase, but I am interested to see what he's willing to say to try and convince me that it's not a problem.

 

I'd also be curious to hear what he has to say, @Crissaegrim, though I think I could write the script myself by now.

If anybody wants to offer some cheer-up photos of their dolls, or just talk about projects or plans, that is always appreciated. I haven't had time or energy for mine for a while now, but I promise to share again when I can.

I bought some Doll Family (A?) jointed hands for my Arsene, but I'm still deciding if the size is right. His original hands are fairly large, so it might be throwing me off. They are similar in size to the Doll Legend ones on my Mystic guy, but the palm and fingers are slimmer, so they come across as more feminine... hmm. I put them on him anyway so I see it in the cabinet every time I walk by- I'll decide how much it bothers me before wiring and blushing them. A lot of things on hold until spring weather now. Many parts in need of sealant.

 

I heard back from him the other day and I'd meant to reply here but had forgotten.

 

That's about what I'd expected from him and that's just disappointing. I think "hiring more staff" was one of the excuses that he gave me when I'd been waiting forever for the 55cm Saint that never happened.

 

His 'explanations' don't address those orders placed THREE YEAR AGO. What is he waiting for?

As for cheer-up photos, here's my blue SA Hound who I admire daily but never take pictures of



Dressing him is kind of an issue, firstly because I'm bad at working with bright colors, but secondly I have no idea what size clothes actually fit the Rhythmos body? SD17/uncle size pants are a bit too short in the leg, and the waist is always too big (unless it's elastic, which his current pants are thankfully). And shirts are impossible because if they're big enough for proper sleeve length, the torso part is enormous. I guess this gangly stick man will be wearing robes forever because like hell am I gonna bust out the sewing machine...

 

That shade of deep blue is so very gorgeous. You're very lucky to have him.

Yeah, I'm still waiting for my Maxi Diana (pure oriental) 2 years later... I emailed Dollshe about adding Adonis head to that order with Diana and they told me that my order was to be completed between February and early March. Now with Adonis head added, it'll probably be another few years.

To be honest, my first time ordering from Dollshe in 2016 it only took 7 months to receive Adonis (pure oriental).

 

I must be a masochist since I'm seriously planning on ordering King75 (still deciding on the head sculpt) even after the 4-year wait with Aramis.

 

@overlordu His colour really is fantastic. You know exactly how to emphasize it with the gold and red background/accents. He almost glows. As far as clothing goes, it seems a shame to cover him entirely. Maybe a low-cut vest and sandals, if anything. I'm no colour theorist or designer, but I think you'd either play up the blue theme or seek to contrast him as you did here to make his colour pop.

@melomelo My previous order was placed in late 2017 and took about 8 months, as I recall. Funny how that now seems very short, but I try to keep perspective- I have massive respect for Resinsoul, whose wait times are still steady around 2-3 months as they were when I joined the hobby in 2011, while almost everyone else has trended longer and longer. It's possible, okay?

 

For a cheer up photo...Here's my Diana that I was able to purchase second hand (as I wait for Dollshe to fullfill my original Diana order...from March 3 years ago.)

Keep us updated if you do. It's still saying 2-3 months on his website (which clearly is a typo for years lmfao). But I also love that King body. I would be curious if one was ordered with a IZE or Mori head if he would prioritize delivery because of their partnership? If IZE and Mori started getting complaints they could revoke their partnership so it wouldn't be a good look for him.

Although I suppose it depends on the deal that they worked out. They also might have sold those sculpts to Dollshe (Mori does that with DFH and Universe Doll) so if they don't have an active partnership it might not matter other than them not selling him heads in the future. But I am pretty sure Dollshe now casts for them (since Hayato WS skintone is different than Austraras WS) so he still could be incentivized to deliver them faster since he prioritizes artists he casts for.

Regardless its a BIG risk. lmfao I am almost clown enough to try it out myself though.

 

Part of what seems confusing to me is that Dollshe does cast for other doll makers and they seem to get stuff out in way less time than Dollshe takes to cast one of his own products. It can't entirely be a dollar issue regards his own products as people pay for their doll before the doll is cast.

 

Yes, 2-3 months is completely delusional. He's just taking on too much work with all his sales. I was trying to decide between Luke, Dante, and Taein anyway so maybe I'll go with Dante or Taein to test out your theory (since they're IZE's sculpts that would be the best chance).

 

this is super funny (no) because when i asked for a refund (after waiting 2 years without getting my doll) Dollshe replied and i'm quoting : "sorry. We've had no orders for several weeks now, so we're unable to process a refund. We will process your order as soon as it comes in."
and thus, never got my refund

so much bullshit

 

And with the passage of time between payment and requests for refunds (usually a couple of years later for Dollshe), there's no hope of recourse from PP or your CC. Far too much time has passed and I admit that to someone not in the hobby, waiting for 4-6 months (or more) for a product you paid for sounds completely insane and like you're asking someone to steal your money. The expression of disbelief on people's faces when I tell them that I've waited 10 months for a doll to be made (DZ back in 2013) and that for some companies that's their average wait time ends up with them looking at me like I'm crazy for putting up with that.

I'm currently waiting on a Luts unicorn boy. I ordered him at the beginning of January. I do not expect to see a shipping notice for him until June. Luts specifically wrote on his sale page that if you purchased him there would be extra production time involved (and they gave a number for how much extra time) as he was only available during that event and if you added in a face-up, the time would be extended even further. So I'm waiting 5.5-6 months for him but at least Luts is being upfront about times and they're generally good about sticking to stated times.

 

Is Dollshe's email only NOT working for *me* right now?

They wrote and said they couldn't cast my order in Honeyskin (that I ordered *2* years ago and was available *then* btw).
So they asked me to chose Pureskin. I am trying to email them and tell them I want Pureskin Freshskin now for my realllly old order and I keep getting a mail daemon returned to me that the message could not be sent because [email protected] does not exist?!?

Has anyone else gotten an email through recently? Thanks in advance....

hiya all!

I just recently bought a dollshe bernard second hand and he came with a broken s hook for the hand/feet (idk the difference tbh, he's my first dollshe) and I'm not sure what to do. I went to the dollshe site to replace the s hooks but shipping will be $33 for a $2 item... anyone else using anything else other than the s hooks that originally came with the body? any help would be greatly appreciated

 

I know this is wishful thinking, especially after reading Mr. Dollshe's recent post on his website, but it would be nice if Mr. Dollshe would release the F22, F11, T3, I1 size bodies with heads. It would also offer more options for hybridization. For example, I would be curious to see a Diana head on the unreleased F22 or F11 body, or the Rosa/Angela head on the F11 body.

His options for males are so much more varied for male dolls. In contrast he offers: M28, M24, M18 and then the other newer bodies like Supermodel and King.

Bernard, right? I think that Bernard is my favorite of all the Dollshe models, Saint is a close second. (5th Motif is next, but thay are not sculpted by the same artist.)

Hello all! I bought a 1/3 scale Diana and she's strung with her small bust, I want to restring her with the bigger bust. Does anyone have a link to a Diana restringing video or guide? I've never strung a doll before and I am more than a little nervous, haha.

 

My Orijean finally has a face and body! And a 3D printed head back...he's a franken boy and the color match is bad but I'm thrilled to have my other favorite classic Dollshe sculpt!

 

@Thymeseer Lol, I have an Orijean faceplate that needs a headback, too. I'd bought the Orijean head with an extra SA faceplate as part of one of Dollshe's infamous discontinuation/stock sell off sales. The regular faceplate is Wu-Tyr and he'll never use the SA faceplate but it was being sold as a set, the price was good since it was stock literally sitting on a shelf and it was the only Orijean that was left so....

This is Wu-Tyr. My camera was playing fast and loose with the colour. There is a slight difference in colour since head and body were purchased a couple of years apart (and I don't know how long the head sat on a shelf at Dollshe before I bought it).

Thank you! I made those myself, so I do want to replace them--they're a bit more obviously flawed in person... (Lots of bubbles--I'm still new to making eyes.) And they do gap a bit...

Actually, does anyone have any particular advice for eyes for the Grown Bernards? (That's the faceplate one.) I'm thinking some 14/6 urethanes...

Ohhhhh he's the old Saint version, yeah that's going to be a fun time At least if any of mine need to be tightened I can just yoink out their legs and tighten them without too much effort. Their knots are in their ankles, which makes things super easy!

Hi all, it's been ages since I checked out the Dollshe thread. I'm shocked at the wait times! I hope you get your dolls soon!

 

I am also shocked by the expectation of dolls from Mr. Dollshe, so I buy his dolls only in the secondary market, it is better to pay more and not wait 2-3 years. Because now is a difficult time and no one knows what will happen tomorrow

 

We can only hope that one day Dollshe gets their act together. Maybe then I will buy from them again. For now, I'll enjoy the dolls I have that made it.

 

I was eyeing off this hound on Dolly Teria for a few months, saw him cheaper on their y!a page and caved.
I figure he's an older version because of the headcap, but does anyone have any idea of how old or what version he is?

For those in here who might not be on Facebook, apparently BJDivas is going to be taking legal action against Dollshe. They said they're going to try and see if people who have placed orders with other dealers/Dollshe direct can also get in on the lawsuit if they so wish.

 

The radio silence from Dollshe is so disheartening…my heart goes out to everyone who is still waiting. 2-3 years is too long!

 

A little update on the whole Dollshe Craft drama. Mr. Dollshe recently posted this on his Instagram account that he doesn't know how long he will continue making dolls. This gives credence to the whispers that Dollshe Craft might cease operations: Mr. Dollshe also announced that he is is working with another BJD company "Club CoCo" and created a new Instagram account for his BJD business. From the new pictures added, it looks like Dollshe rebranded.

I'm sure he realizes that he has outstanding orders. I'm betting that he's hoping that if he continues to ignore/not respond the people with said orders will just get frustrated and give up.

 

He is such a snake and is slithering away to a clean id...so new people won't know how he's shafted his customers.
