Yeah, same to be honest. I'm not waiting on anything currently, but the only way I'll buy a Dollshe is second hand right now.
Ironically, I had good luck the three times I did place an order with Dollshe—two direct, once with a dealer. Longest wait time was seven months. Would I order another thing from Dollshe though? Hell no. The craftsmanship on the ones I do have is spectacular, but the only way I'll be picking up any more Dollshe resin until he gets his act cleaned up is secondhand. As far as I'm aware, there's not been one sighting of him in the wild at all—or any of the purely 3D concept sculpts for that matter. Methinks those might've been a complete scam. Don't quote me on that though.
Hey all, popping in because I’m wondering if anyone has put their Adonis head on a female body? Additionally, does anyone have the 55cm mini Adonis? I see that the 1/4 fashion Adonis is out there but the 55cm size would be much more suitable a size for me rather than the typical 70cm size. I’m just trying to gauge if it would be easier to track one down second-hand instead of having to… *shudders* buy one from Dollshe directly. Thanks!
@Mainframe110 unfortunately the 55cm of ANYTHING have never been made. I have a 1/4 Adonis I could try on a Doll Leaves new body, Resinsoul Xun, Diana's body, or the Dollshe female standard late tonight after I get home from work. All the colors will be weird, but the proportions will be there.
Ah that’s what I was wondering about the 55cm. Alas, the 1/4 scale size is not quite what I’m looking for, but thanks for offering tho!
I was lurking on the Dollshe site (because I won't buy one but I do like to torment myself) and now he seems to have come out with even more dolls. Three, to be exact, in what he's calling the Secret Joseon Dynasty. Miraculously two of them even appear to have been cast and are not just 3D renders of the whole thing.
Oh god, the King75 body is beautiful!!! The behind photo is killing me... his tiny waist! Uggghhhh I wish he'd just hire a manager or something, it's torture looking at his beautiful sculpts knowing I can't order them
Yes IZE and Mori 9. He managed to convince both of them to make compatible heads for his new king body. The king body is beautiful but so many big tiddy muscle boys have come out (The Voice) or are being teased lately (2D Doll among others) its not worth for the body alone. I suspect he knows this so that's why he chose two of the most popular artists who don't make bodies of their own to collab with. Still not worth for IZE Stage at this point as you can find their heads separately. Mori 9 though doesn't re-release heads as a rule so if she breaks that and rereleases, or releases a new boy ONLY through Dollshe I might be an absolute clown and order. Thats the only way he is getting me.
Wow, do they not realize about his reputation? If I was a doll artist I would never want to be associated with Dollshe I'm interested to see what 2D is coming up with, I didn't know about that. But I'm glad more companies are going for this aesthetic! I love the Voice body with clothes on, but I'm not fond of the joints' appearance/design. That's where Dollshe really shines I think, even the joints look good and the silhouette flows so well... No way is he ever getting me though. I'd rather wait to buy secondhand from people whose passion dried up while waiting and sell the dolls as soon as they arrive.
Ugh, they really are beautiful. On the King75 pages it states the orders will be fulfilled in 2-3 months and only orders which can be fulfilled in that period will be accepted. Is that sufficient to get a Paypal reversal or credit card chargeback if he hasn't shipped it by 5 months or so?
@overlordu I was speaking with someone else about this and they told me in Asia his dolls aren't as popular but people do complain about him just not as much and as loud as they do in the west where he sells most of his own dolls. So it would be easy for IZE or Mori 9 not to know his reputation but just know of him as a caster for other people. They might already have used his services before, I wouldn't be surprised since Hayato is a different resin color than Austarus/Veles. I would be curious if Hayato is an exact match for Dollshe. I dont have any Dollshe resin to test this though. ETA - Hayato did ship in good time though so if Dollshe is the caster maybe he will be better for the collab dolls rather than just his own. @Ardent Paypal is 90 days however I would check with whatever bank or credit card provider you have because they can still do a chargeback on Paypal usually alot longer than Paypal's policy allows. Paypal doesn't like to fight with the banks on chargebacks so you will get your money back if Dollshe can't prove he shipped. Paypal will rule against him.
Dispute can be filed within 180 days. PayPal Purchase Protection for Buyers – PayPal US That's six months. PayPal does ask that you approach the seller first, so yes, if you still have not received your purchase at 5 months, you'll need to start the communication and begin the dispute before 6 months.
Oh I thought it was 90 days, that's even better! However, if you are at the point where you would rather have your money back rather than the doll I would go the chargeback method and don't file with paypal at all. Once your card processes the chargeback and the card issuer gives you your money back Paypal will automatically make a dispute and take the money out of the seller account to compensate for the money the card issuer took from them. Its then up to the seller to prove they sent the item in order to get the funds back and they have a much shorter time to do that because Paypal is on time limits to respond to the card issuer. Heres the official paypal page explains the difference, but heres another 3rd party that puts it in layman terms. I know this because I had someone in the doll community try to scam me with a chargeback earlier this year and it didnt even go through the dispute process before making my account negative and it stayed negative until I proved with messages and tracking numbers/receipts that I had sent the item and it was delivered earlier. But this is an extreme "I need my money back now" method. If you file the dispute through Paypal there is a chance you might get the doll shipped out sooner since they prefer you to resolve it amongst yourselves.
My friend didn't definitely get a shipping notice in promised time for her limited 100 bjd. She opened a claim in the end, because she was well aware of Dollshe's business practices and is actually waiting on another doll from them for almost 4 years now. Dollshe did not even refund her after the initial claim but tried to delay the processing of it by responding nonsense like "would you not want a doll" even if he had none to ship to her. She had to escalate the claim to paypal. Dollshe responded to her claim and tried insisting on shipping a configuration that lacked some of the parts she had ordered, probably so that he could have the claim closed and keep her on waiting for some extra heads for 2 years. He promised the rest of the doll would ship asap (yeah right). She refused and kept the claim going but was legit scared Dollshe would just drop *something* in mail before PayPal would have time to decide on the case, so that she would get a product lacking some parts and Paypal would close the "item not received" claim against her. I should mention at this point Dollshe had conveniently changed the website page of the doll so that it no longer mentioned all the extra parts and things the same way it did when my friend ordered. Order receipt doesn't show what exactly is included as it just shows "full package" or sth similar, so in case Dollshe would have shipped her something different that was ordered, he could have disputed the existence of any extra parts to paypal since nowhere on his website did it mention that said those extra parts should be included in the package my friend ordered. He does change his website marketing material frequently recently, so after seeing this experience, I'd definitely keep screenshots from what the product page said when you ordered since previously "free, included with purchase" head parts can become items you have to buy separately etc. Or, you know, maybe don't order at all.
Ultimately, ordering anything from Dollshe at this point sounds like pulling teeth. I was extremely lucky in 2016-2017, when I got my Grown Bermann Heads. Only waited 9 months. I wouldn't go there now though. I look for Dollshe items second-hand, or look into hybrid options. Good idea about keeping screenshots of everything though. It's very sad to see how far this doll maker's business practice has deteriorated.
So earlier this year I had to open a PayPal claim in order to get my two girls (Ausley Love and Amanda Beauty) that I had been waiting for and Dollshe tried very hard to get me to wait two months longer, then two weeks longer and I just said nope and he did end up sending my dolls in the configuration I ordered with all the extra parts and they were assembled, with the silicone inserts, etc. So the negotiating on waiting longer is probably normal practice. I don’t think you can reasonably expect to get your doll within the PayPal order protection period, so if you’re counting on that, just be prepared to lose your doll order so you can get the money back. Personally I don’t recommend purchasing now when so many of us are still missing orders of the old dolls that we purchased years ago. I’m still waiting on a King Corey I ordered in 2020 through Divas and most likely it will be next year in the very best case before I get him. I did receive one of my 2019 Dollshe orders through Divas earlier this year ( a single Erica Snow head that took almost 3 years to get). I genuinely like the new stuff he’s coming out with, but I just don’t want to go through the issues with the wait and wondering. It makes me sad, because I want to get more dolls. I did order a Dollstown 18 yr old body for my Erica Snow head and that one definitely was cast much faster than anything direct from Dollshe (he casts for Dollstown) — I ordered the body through Dollstown a year after the head order and got the body over a year before I got the head, sheesh, so he probably produces for his casting partners faster.
I'm afraid I really, really like Dante. My budget has been absolutely obliterated this year (and next year), so I shall just wistfully dream that someone someday will get him.
@Quiet and Insane you can get Dante’s head on the second hand market! No need to purchase a full doll from Dollshe. Taein and Dante heads both can be found on second hand market! (They match Soom resin). Only Mori 9 will likely be Dollshe exclusive. It looks like she gave her “Mort” sculpt to him and he renamed it Doma. I’m not in love with him (thank god) but he is pretty handsome.
Good to know! I do like him, but not enough to want to hunt one down second hand at this stage I think. But thanks for the information!
I emailed Mori to see if she'd drop Dollshe if she knew what that dude has put me and my friends through. I would literally pay Mori double the retail price for the head right away if it means I don't need to go through dollshe at this point. I don't even consider him having redeemed himself before he ships _everything_ from 2019, 2020 and 2021. Then we can talk. (Also I wish he'd seriously get a 2nd opinion on the topic "do I sculpt too big hands and feet for my boys" because it's gotten hideous. Sad, his bodies used to be nice before he started having this.... complex. Now his new bodies are not even a 2nd hand go-to because those dolls in shoes will look like riding two canoes standing up.)
I got lucky recently and got a Dollshe Hound 18m on an Old Hound body... But I'm having difficulties finding clothes Sd17b is too short at the arms and legs as seen in the pictures Any advice on which clothes might fit? I checked luts SDF measurements, those might be ok in length but too wide on the hips I think? What's your experience for clothes for this big boy? Dollshe Hound by Hikari, auf Flickr
I like doma but I have just received Leo after two years waiting and soooooooooo many emails with Dollshe, I basically sent DS email every 3 days for the last two months to check production schedule for my doll. I really don’t want to go through that all over again. Btw DS still put 2-3 months for delivery on their sales page like they can really meet that time
Hey everybody! I was wondering if anybody knows what jeans or casual wear best fit an Arsene sized BJD? I know slender pants will not fit them, too small but I'd be glad to read any suggestions or see any photos of what you all have/ which company works best. I also have a 72 Impldoll boy, I haven't tried any on him just yet, but curious! Thanks!
@Hydemy Holy crap, you actually got a Leo! That's amazing lol Congrats on that! I'm waiting on a King Corey from over 2 years ago myself, eeesh. I don't give my Dollshe Rosen enough love -- he was my first non-MSD size doll and I love him He got a new shirt and it looks good with him! I changed out his eye color as well and this is working for me I have to fix his sealant and finish his tats so he'll get some work done soon. And some new pants. My IM Hound and Pabo also need new clothes so I better get working on that lol. I'm not going to even talk about the ladies, so nekkid... Spoiler: More pics
@LupusDarkmoon It could just be the lighting I have. I don't think my Rosen and my other pale tan Dollshe, IM Hound, have faded or yellowed over time ( comparing to earlier photos of them). I definitely noticed there is variation in batches for the colors, but it's usually not too much. Here's my Rosen from 2012 and my IM Hound from 2013, who is also in pale tan but his color was just a touch lighter and more yellow. I also saw some batch variation with Copper Oriental for my Dollstown bodies and my Erica Snow head and also my Ausley Love, which were all copper oriental but received at different times (1-2 year separation). All that to say you might very well have a darker pale tan than when I got my guys.
@karlyl That's definitely possible. Mine tends to look darker in person than in pics. He's from 2011, so it's also possible that batch was darker. XD Totally had expected him to be more like yours, but I still love him lol Your Hound is a handsome guy, too!
@LupusDarkmoon Oh, same with mine! They definitely look darker in person and in shady lighting for pictures. I have a King Corey in pale tan on order right now ( the loooong 2+ year wait of doom and last dollshe doll unless they get better at their service, ughgh) so we'll see how different his color is this time, lol. I just went to your flickr and was nosy and wow your Rosen definitely seems darker (more like how mine look in person) -- of course he's a gorgeous guy though! I love Rosens
Look who arrived home? Neo - in Pure avatar blue skin. He fits 12mm eyes and the same wigs my Venitu, Arsene and Saint can wear. The rest I will need to make for him. The blue skin was a big thing - I really really wanted it - for years! But I admit, it is a bit scary too.
Congratulations!! He looks gorgeous. That blue is stunning Can I ask how long did you wait for him to arrive?
wow! He looks so cool! His eye color suits him perfectly! I only received my Leo from DS because I emailed DS basically three times a week for two months After 22months quiet and patient waiting. The purchase experience with DS is horrible and I wish I wont go through all this ever again
@karlyl Haha, yeah, I really thought my Rosen was tan when I got him. But then I saw a tan head in person and was like "Nope, he's not quite that dark" XD Thank you! Rosen is a great sculpt, he reminds me of the older Dollshe boys (who I love lol). I hope you receive your King Corey soon! He's such a lovely sculpt, too, and I'd love to see more around. @Cyador Your Neo looks great, congrats on his arrival!
Hello, I have a question (searching didn't help) about dollshe hybrids. On what body the Grant Philippe's head (70cm) can fit well without mods? (New guy, Neo, is amazing!)
Hey all after almost 3 years I finally got my Rey Lewis pose plus body boy. I got him unstrung because like heck was I paying a shipping increase thinking “I’ve restrung tons of dolls”. I now think I I’ve done something wrong in stringing him because his body keeps wanting to do non posey wonky things. Is this bendy odd nonsense just what the pose plus body does or did I do something wrong? would love some Insight on which top arm and leg socket is left and which are right. Or maybe a video
Maybe post a couple of photos of the body, so someone here that has it strung properly can compare? I found it unhelpful that none of the arm and leg parts of my 18M Pure body had R and L labeled inside the joints.
@Hikari-chanXx. For the re-released Hounds, Dollmore Model Boy and Alice’s Collection clothes are a pretty good fit.
Thank you! Which size would I go for with Alice? Do you know if any of Luts sizes might fit? They have such nice stuff (and somehow I don't get charged customs for Luts so I like ordering from them)
The size to choose is 70 cm. For reference, I bought these pants: Boy Outfits, BJD Outfits - BJD, BJD Doll, Ball Jointed Dolls, BJD Accessories - Alice's Collections. I have not purchased Luts clothing but comparing measurements for Luts Super Senior Delf and the re-released Hound, I suggest looser fit clothing. Luts dolls are a bit slimmer so those adorable skinny pants probably won’t fit.
Been away from doll hobby for a while, but just recently dusted off my boy and washed his clothes. I feel like i'm new to bjds all over again. Hello (He's browsing Pinterest and jobs)
@tenukihandcrafts Thank you! He's an Arsene sculpt but Bernard is also a sculpt i've always liked. It's been fun getting back into it.
I think I've asked before but it's probably in an archived thread or three back, but does anyone know what would be a reasonable match in another company to Dollshe oriental honey mango? I'm asking for me and a friend as I have a spare Hound head with a beautiful face-up I'd prefer not to wipe and I traded yet another of the Hound heads I had (also with a gorgeous face-up) with a friend, so we both need bodies for said heads. Since Dollshe isn't producing the honey resin anymore and finding the specific colour 2nd would be challenging (especially times 2), I'm hoping there's something reasonably close in another company. I know the honey resin has a translucent sort of quality that opaque resin doesn't and that makes matching more difficult. Last resort would be to wipe the face-up but I would like to know what's potentially closest to make the matching easier on the face-up artist.
I got my Pabo back from Angeltoast for a faceup refresh (amazzzzing work as always and was able to match the original work they did back in 2012, woot!) -- he came out so nice I literally never see any Pabos in the wild so I'm excited to be getting him picture worthy again. He's on the DSAM 35s body and let me tell you he definitely needs to be restrung lol. But I love the neck joint and I ordered my King Corey with the L3 body with the neck joint (originally I ordered the L4 type in freaking 2020 but of course, shenanigans now and that body isn't being produced anymore ugh, fingers crossed for no more changes ugggh). Anyways. PABO
Hi y'all Maxi Adonis owners! Which eye and iris sizes do you prefer for your guys? I'm choosing to live in delusion and believe my Adonis head will arrive in two months. After all, I only waited 4 years last time...
I saw Leo on sale on Dollshe and I'm so tempted bc the sculpt is gorgeous.. But i'm not sure if i'm ready for all the drama... TT
As always when Dollshe puts the price of the 16F Diana down to one of his stupidly low sale prices I am tempted. Still resisting.
Still waiting on a pale Saint ordered July 2019. Is the sale still a bargain to you if it takes 3.5+ years? Don't assume you'll be an exception. Even if it cost me 3x, I'd go secondhand or find a different sculpt if I could do this over. It's become a point of bitterness that has threatened to sour my experience in the hobby as a whole. Not worth the stress, in my opinion. If the hobby is worth investing in, it's worth investing in keeping it fun.
He suckers you in with incredible sale prices and then leaves you twisting in the wind for literally years. Saint is a common sculpt for Dollshe and pale is one of the basic colours. There's no reason you should still be waiting this long for your doll @Havra. I still love the Saint sculpt but after my spin around on the Dollshe merry-go-round waiting for an espresso Saint in the 55cm size that never happened (and I believe that size has STILL never been produced even though it was first put up for pre-order in spring of 2018) I'm not sure I'd be able to own a Saint without feeling a bit... irritated because of that past experience.
