Dollshe Discussion - Part Fifteen

Nov 28, 2018

    1. @Zest Im sorry you are going through that, certificates is a necessity these days with the fake dolls being sold everywhere

If you purchased through the website, you could print the receipt or send a PDF of the receipt to the buyer. I know Iplehouse sends letter of authenticity (basically a letter saying it is legit), not a new COA and only if you are the first buyer and you lost the COA which is just as good.

They said they were delaying shipments because making COA was taking time IIRC, so maybe a letter of authenticity, or a print out of the receipt with them signing it with the number of the doll would be something they could compromise with? I would ask for that if it is possible, just anything to show it is real

If COA isnt available, proof of purchase with the official boxes I feel would be good enough to show they are real for your buyers

    2. honey sapphire Adonis arrived so loose he was quite literally falling apart. so....major surgery begins.
I think Dollshe is hurrying to keep up with orders. quality control is suffering.
the Bermann heads I received are quite thin compared to ones from the past years. Adonis' head is fine, if decapitated.

when putting this photo together, I didn't realize the torso was lying on my stove top! my studio is connected to the kitchen, and when I was attempting to
tighten the strings, using the long counter near the stove, the doll just fell apart in pieces on the floor. if he weren't honey resin, I think bits would have broken.
I'm glad I didn't cook his torso joint!

    3. I received my raspberry honey resin (old Ausley body) Bernard female on Friday - she's quite nice - however, I agree on the quality control. Her eye sockets are not very nicely cut.

Hey - has DollShe changed the way that he is doing the tags on the back of the neck? For the first time, rather than being embedded inside an indentation in the head, the tag is an "outie," i.e., it sticks out. Anybody else?

    4. Hi @Julie M - my fashion heads have the logo inset (innie) but two of them are inside the headcap, two are on the outside (blue man included and one of the 3 Bermann heads from the 'package.')

    5. More Hozuki episodes on Crunchyroll. We get to watch it together!!

    7. I was really surprised at how thin the neck hole was in my grown Bermann. His name molded into his headcap and the Dollshe tag is inside the headcap.

    8. OH, wow! @JinCIncy - he's such a lovely young man. I always like Lyn's faceups. those eyebrows! <3

      .

    9. Oh gosh he's gorgeous @JinCIncy! :) I agree, his eyebrows are particularly lovely.

    10. Its so nice to see an Arsene that doesn't look worried. He's a lovely looking guy.

    11. May your holidays be happy, healthful, and fun, folks. And to keep this on topic .... yeahhhhhh, DollShe! ;-)

    12. All I want for Christmas is my Dollshe boy. But I think I have a better chance of asking for and getting a pony.

      • x 4
    13. but where would you keep a pony?

    14. I have a friend with horses so.....

      • x 1
    15. Why not have both? Let your dollshe man ride off into the sunset on his pony.

    16. Well played, @petiteballerine I've no idea when my Dollshe boy will be coming home *sigh*. I haven't heard any updates about the new 55cm being done yet and the Dollshe page shows only that my order is "processing". But I also know that people can receive their dolls without any notice going up on the Dollshe page so that doesn't mean anything. And it's only been 9 month or so, which is nothing in the Dollshe 'Verse. Still. I don't want to be a member of the 1-Year Club

    17. You inspired the photo, @Iron_Dog - although I have several other dolls riding Starman. It was time for Vidal to have a go.
I only knew about my blue Adonis because I'd sent an email to ask about him about six weeks earlier. It might help you to send a note.
And I was barely 2 weeks short of a year. 9 months isn't too soon to inquire as to the status of your doll.

    18. Perhaps I should fling an email at them just to get an idea of when (generally) they're looking at having them done. In one sense, I'd think it was hilarious to get the SD boy I ordered at the end of November (who is part of the same triad as the Dollshe boy) before the Dollshe boy. I can't even order eyes or a wig as there is utterly zero info about what sizes he'll take. I'm unconcerned about clothes as I can cobble something together without too much fuss even or the odd size (because weird/odd sized dolls are apparently my thing).

    19. @Iron_Dog, I hope you get an answer soon, a good one to be specific. :)

Hunter wasn't around when Color arrived so they are getting to know each other. They started talking about music, Hunter's life and it seems Color is a singer. He will get an audition with the band R3S1N8 since they don't have a great singer.

    20. Hi, I recently got my Dollshe Saint with Mystic Body
but it's difficult for me hunting a pair of shoes and outfit
do u guys have a suggestion for me ?
      Thank You

    21. @SteamWitch I wish Color good luck with his audition. Is the band name pronounced 'Resinate'? xD

    22. Yes it is. :whee: I do need to set them up, they all have instruments. I got a new drumset for Steele but haven't tried it out with him yet. I also spent long hours making a keyboard that looks decent instead of searching for an illusive and extremely expensive 1/3 scale one.

      • x 12
    23. @SteamWitch Wow! The keyboard looks really really amazing :aeyepop: It looks like a real keyboard. You just got a new drumset too, that's nice :XD:

    24. Holy cow! You did an awesome job on the keyboard @SteamWitch

    25. Thanks, definitely worth the effort. Julian halfheartedly agreed to pose with their instruments. When the weather clears I am going to spray paint the stand for the keyboard metallic silver or black.

    26. @SteamWitch These instruments are awesome :aeyepop: I really love the guitars!

    27. So, I just opened box 1 of my puzzle package. It’s the transparent body and a weird transparent Aramis head. He’s very cool, actually, but is very floppy & unposable (18m body). Did anyone else have this and if so, do I try surfing or restringing? I’ve never restrung a body this expensive, only the cheaper ones, as my ringdoll and iplehpuse bodies seemed okay out of the box.

      @SteamWitch That’s such a cool photo!

    28. Thank you, it took a few years searching on eBay to find these Fender guitars at 1/3 scale, they don't produce them anymore as far as I know.. I wanted to get a black and white bass guitar but someone out bid me at the end. The drums are a combo of different desktop drums that I found and someone else gave me a partial set they found at a thrift shop. I can't wait to pull it all together and get a band shot with Color auditioning.

    29. @Spuggey - Adonis in blue arrived limp & unmanageable right before christmas. I have to restring him. the elastic seems too soft, not much spring to it. might need new.
The mystic body is straightforward as far as where everything goes.
Take pictures as you unstring to remind yourself how things attach.
      :candycane

    30. Ah. Thanks. I might switch the torsos around since the transparent body has a more poseable torso & I want Legolas to have it.

    31. The audition starts, first they had to relocate the vampires. John Crow artwork with permission of vampireangel13.

    32. lOve this, @SteamWitch - Color will make a great frontman. They really look like a band.

    33. Thanks, I love that the band is coming together after falling apart about a year ago. Steele, the drummer, is the only original member. I thought having 3 Saints in the band would look strange but they are sooooo different you can't really tell.

Color singing with the blind guitar player, they are in the groove.

    34. What a cool series @SteamWitch

@daidd0214 There's some 'what fits' at the beginning of the thread I think. SartoriaJ is what I stick to for my mystic guy.

Some Kazuo spam for the thread, since Adonis seems to still be rare.

    35. I got a reply from Dollshe in my inbox this morning regards the Classic Mini I ordered. He's part of the first sale offered for this size so if there's anyone else that ordered then (or after that initial sale) here's a sort of timeline for you.

We apologize for the delay in shipping. The circular finish of the Classic Mini you ordered has been completed, and our 3D printer is out of order. It will take 2 ~ 3 months more time. I ask you to wait a little longer. We will arrange for delivery soon.

Best wishes for a Happy New Year.

      Have a wonderful day.

      Sincerely yours,
      DollShe Craft

So I'll be creeping up hard to that mystical 1-year Dollhe wait according to this response *sigh*. But at least it's good to have some sort of idea of when I can kind of expect him to be finished. Maybe. I have no idea what a circular finish is though and not sure why the 3D printer being on the fritz is a factor but whatever. I'm content (for now) that I got a response to my email within a few days that actually tells me something about the progress.

    36. Thanks so much for sharing their reply. I have two 55cm boys on order but suspected they were gonna take a while being a new size. I’m betting the 3D printer being down means they haven’t made molds for that size yet. Might be using printed parts to make the molds from.

    37. No problem. I was sure there were others waiting like me for this size so figured I should share the news.

I had thought that he'd had the body made for moulding purposes based on the original photos posted for the sales and that it was just the heads that needed to be "re-sized". But yes, I'm glad to at least have some idea of the when of the dolls could be ready to send home.

    38. Dollshe bodies are super easy to restring and because their resin is relatively thick compared to other companies you can really pull them tight. My Ringdoll and Iplehouse guys are strung really tightly, and my Dollshes vary (Ragnar is getting a bit too loose though, I'll have to rectify that). There are restringing videos on Youtube - I'm fairly certain there should be one of two out there just on Dollshe. If not, they follow a really simple method anyway and so you should be able to get him all tightened up without any issues.

    39. Ugh, sorry to be a nuisance. I restrung him, and sueded him and he still can’t hold his arms up. I don’t get it. I’ve got 15 dolls and they can all hold their arms up (except the mirodoll bodies, but hey, they were cheap and not that great). The elastic is as tight as I can get it, and he’s sueded with moleskin. Would hot glue or something make a difference?

Making me love my ringdoll bodies even more... ☹️

    40. Hot glue would be better than moleskin, to help with holding his arms up.
(whispers: I love my Ringdoll bodies better too.)

    41. Thanks. I’ll give it a go. I’ve been looking forward to him for so long, and he’s a lovely sculpt, but the floppy arms are so bad.

    42. Hot glue is the only way to get enough friction going on the arms. Basically, the joints are too shallow/oblong and the resin is waaaaaay thicker than most people cast their dolls for the arms to be self-supporting.

Bit of Persephone love for the thread. I took her out the other day and fell in love all over again.

    43. Would anyone have any reference pics of a Amanda Beauty or Erica Snow on dollshe male body. I just need to knoe if it's possible?

      • x 7
    44. Well, I did the hot glue in his shoulders. They’re still weak, but the do stay up better. He’s not the greatest poser, but he’s a lovely sculpt. Thanks for all the advice!

    45. IMHO, smaller bodies would be better, see pictures [here].

    46. Since I shared my open eye Diana head in the Dollshe Ladies thread, thought I would share my EN head here. I have the EN head on a DT17 body, which seems to work for her, as she's much snarkier than the open eye head is. Click on the pic below to take you to my Flickr and you can see the open eye version there. Both versions painted by Lyn Raftis.

    47. @JinCIncy She does look great on that body!

    48. Hey guys, i'm so sad that I had to ask for a refund for my doll order. :atremblin

    49. @JinCIncy - Ooh I do love her face. She does look very good on that body.

@golo - Oh no, why is that?

    50. And here is a shot of EN Diana, back on her own body, wearing a stretch velvet gown from Period Threads that was made for the Iple SID body. It fits her really well. It does have some give to it though. She has some wide shoulders...…….

    51. @JinCIncy - I really like Diana's romantic eyes. They give her face a more mature look. From what I can see, both bodies are a great match for her head.

      :hollyberry

    52. Thanks! I do think the EN head looks older. She does work well on both bodies. Surprisingly just for fun I put the EN head on my DT Elf body and it wasn't bad either. It is no bigger on the Elf body than the DT7 heads are, and the neck fit wasn't bad. I don't have any pics uploaded of it though.

    53. @JinCIncy I believe it. DT bodies are pretty much the ideal hybrid bodies for any semi-realistic heads since they actually operate on sound anatomical principles. I'm tempted to plop my amanda beuty on my elf body now, just to see how it looks. XD

    54. Just for reference, the open eye Diana head on the DT17 body. I really like her on this body, although her own hands are much prettier.

    55. @JinCIncy You are right the EN face makes her look much older but both are beautiful. I do like the DT body because the shoulders aren't so squared off, it's more natural looking.

    56. I agree, the shoulders are more natural on the DT17 body...…………...now if her hands would only fit that body. I think I'll order her some Iple EID hands.
