DollShe craft 28M and 26F Fashion Pose 44/41 cm size

Dec 8, 2014

    1. I received the email notification about the coupon today and wanted to check and see whether my coupon is still there.... however the website won't load. I hope it's just a glitch and that they will be back soon.

    2. @Sigune - congrats! isn't he perfect?! Grant has very long eyes and I'm using 8mm rounds which glancing to the side look pretty good. 6mm rounds didn't cover the whole eyewell.
I am now making his wig(s) and have made clothes patterns. these dolls (at least the men) are a lot of work. just went shoe shopping, although everything about these little men says "naked" to me. just a little paint and they're good to go.
OMG, they are wonderful. if only he could move his head more. Stellan wants to be kissed, but you've got to get that head tilt going.....:sneaky

      .

    3. Oh yeah, right now the only piece of clothing David is going to be getting is some boxers. That is... until I can buy a really nice on scale suit!

    4. I know, right?! :drool I can see why they took so long to make. The teeny tiny headplate. . . packet of teeny tiny silicone knobs. . . so many teeny tiny things! :XD:

I'm not going to worry about the disappearing coupon. It will get sorted out eventually. . . and it's not like I can afford to use it right away. If Dollshe offers just the bodies for sale I'd be tempted to get one for the sleeping head.

    5. I got my shipping notice this morning!

    6. The email saying that they were sending the 30% discount coupon got resent today but the coupon itself is still missing in my account so I broke down and emailed their Q&A to ask about it and about my outstanding orders. There are very few days left for them to actually finish shipping all the 28m fashion dolls by the end of November.

    7. Apparently this is true. I finally got my coupon and it now has the expiring date December 31 2016. :aeyepop: "Never" is so short with Dollshe. :mwahaha

Still no shipping for my dolls. I suspect Amanda is slowing things down as I haven't seen any females been shipped so far. Well, they told me mine should ship at the end of November so there's still few days left to see if that actually happens. I'm not holding my breath…

    8. Dollshe should use Madam's 1 year club banner for the coupon.
      • :moo

      .

    9. Ha Ha. Just checked and the new coupon is there with the expiration date. Not funny. Next they will make it limited to a single item. Then they will make it only good towards accessories not full dolls.

      :barf

    10. Are they shitting us? Never expires? Apparently never equeals a year.

At this rate I can safely say that I will refrain from adding another Dollshe to my crew ever again.

EDIT: Also don't click on it, then it does the same as the old coupon - vanishes into thin air.

    12. On a lighter note, I just checked my guy's tracking... and if that is to be believed, he is to be delivered straight to me w/o an extra detour to the local customs. If that holds true I will declare it a Christmas miracle.

    13. That is great news.

Just got my ransom note. A very reasonable £24 (about $36) so that is all paid and he will be here tomorrow morning. *Gets the bunting out to celebrate*.

    14. I have to admit I'm also really really disappointed by this sudden change in the expiration of the coupon. Not a fan of gifts changing without a warning. Wow, this does feel like a slap in the face and boy, does it sting! Dollshe really are comitting a terrible business practise by changing the coupon expiration on their customers and fans. Wish this expiration change was a mistake!
      Very true
Yay! That is exciting news and I hope he arrives soon for you :)

EDIT: Congrats MadamMauMau on the customs fee being small! Hope your guy also arrives soon & safely too!

    15. My gosh Dollshe! Just had to throw us in those expiration dates, didn't you?

He'll probably keep the fashion line sold out until January 1, 2017 so we can't buy anymore for our current orders with the coupon :XD:

I sort of want Erica Snow, but I would prefer the fashion sized one... just for the sake of having a girl that fits David's scale. Oh well, if nothing else I just won't be using the coupon.

    16. -_- well, that's disappointing. I was eventually planning on getting Amanda or waiting for the 18M line to come out but who knows when they'll be avaliable. I'm with you Animethemed, if that doesn't come to pass score the expiration date then I'll just not be using the coupon. I'm still holding out hope that some clothes will be avaliable eventually and if that happens then I'll use it for that. I don't even know why the coupon needed to change to have an expiration date...makes me think it's just a ploy to boost sales since it seems like they have 30% off sales pretty frequently, so the coupon is nice but not that special.

    17. What's the expiration date on it?

I still have the first coupon they sent out applied to my cart, so i can't see this new one they sent out...

    18. well, the dollie god giveth and the dollie god taketh away. it was ever so.

congrats to everyone with incoming resin! I'm having such fun with my man. :chocoberry

      .

    19. Ok my David is here, and he was totally worth the wait! Now, to get him eyes and a face up. Even without eyes, he's still gorgeous.

    20. So I just checked my account and alas, the coupon is gone. I had clicked on it out of curiosity when we got the new one, it disappeared just like the old one but apparently did not come back.

I have no clue if I should be amused or annoyed or a mix of both at that.

    21. Have you tried logging out and logging in again (the website equivalent of switch it off and on again)? Should sort it.

*Waits at the window for Parcelforce van* He arrives today. So near!

    22. Ha, now it is back again!

      And my boy will be delivered today too - can't wait to come back home in the evening ;u;

    23. And he is here. Little tinker! He is strung tight as buggery, which means he is very stable, but no head movement and a struggle to get his tiny little noggin off. But he is lovely. What an amazing little thing. I have a full sized Kuncci, but seeing the body on that tiny scale is awesome. And the gesture hands! OMG. I am hoping I have the patience to blush all of those, as they will be great fun. No pants cup, though. Did other people say they got one? I don't need it. It makes matters worse rather than better, but was surprised not to see it.

And first report on eyes. *Sigh* He is going to be a difficult one. The 8/3mm looked fractionally too small in the iris and the 8/4mm looked WAY too big, so I am going with 8/3mm. Of course, 8/3mm is the size everyone needs in my house atm but the one that no one makes, so he is making do with a pair of 6/3mm, with the sides being packed out with white tac (not pretty, but better than having gaping holes in the front of his head).

In terms of scale, he doesn't match anyone here. A giant next to the CLines and on the small end of credible next to my aGatti Guarvo and Raccoon Doll Lucy. He would be about 5'5"-5'5" to them, if they were on the tall side (him 6', her 5"8'). So, another doll out on his own for friends and clothes. *another sigh*

I will do a full review, possibly next week. But, yeah, nice dolly.

    24. @MadamMauMau grats on his arrival! Can't wait to see what you'll do with him, your dolls are always so amazing! (and omg you have a Raccoon Doll??? How did I miss this)

    25. Racoooooon Doll (linked, because she has no business being in here). And this is the third doll sharing the one pair of 8/3mm eyes I have. I shall hopefully get some more soon.

Well, I finally had an idea for him, in the last two weeks, so that is all good. Also means he will probably find a way to stay. At least the little ones are less of a pain to find space for, although I now have a shelf on the bookcase that is lined with 1:4 dolls, meaning I can't get to the books without relocating small, resin bodies. Who would be a doll owner, eh?

    26. Oh i see the coupon expiration date.

It's good it lasts a whole year at least lol.

expires, Dec. 31st 2016 for anyone who can't see.

oh and congrats on the arrivals~!
I really like those 8/3 eyes
Are those made by that one website that was in german?

    27. No, those ones were made for my aGatti Guarvo by Natalia, the aGatti sculptor. She only makes them for her dolls. However, we are having an eye discussion in the aGatti thread and there might be some similar eyes being made available. If so, I will nab some and try them in my Grant and show results.

    28. [IMG]

And he's here! Eyes (8mm cheap-o glass eyes from TB) thankfully word - prolly b/c he does have fully black eyes so I can save on figuring out realistic eyes like the lazy bastard I am.

      • x 1
    29. I thought the fashion sized dolls took 6 mm eyes so I ordered 4 pair a few months back for my Grant and Amanda so I sure hope they fit. After seeing people post about the eyes size I'm glad I already have some 8mm glass in my stash from my porcelain doll days from probably 20 years ago. Knew some day they would be useful.

    30. Round 6mm will gape a bit at the sides, but it is not horrible. These boys definitely take a 8mm base size, it is just that the irises of most 8mm eyes are going to look huge. I'll take some pics of various sized irises tomorrow, when I am compos mentis.

And those gesture hands are great, aren't they Roterwolkenvogel?

    31. that's helpful to know - thank you! good thing I wasn't counting on Amanda and Lucy to be friends and share clothes... (LOVE your Lucy btw). hope the 6mm flat eyes I got would fit somebody though!

    32. Thank you for the eye information. I'm still waiting for notice of shipping on my Grant. Someday he will be here! In two more weeks I get to use the "waited a year" banner. Then two weeks after that I get to use it for my Amanda order too. I knew when I ordered him from the measurements he probably would be awkward size compared to my chicline girl so I went ahead and ordered the Amanda for his companion. I can't wait to create period clothing for them!

Has anyone who has had their boys arrive figured out what shoes will fit them?

    33. I am still waiting for my status to change as well. But I did go ahead and email Dollshe when the coupon disappeared. Their response:
" We were testing the distribution of coupons until yesterday. It has now been officially issued out so please check your account.
If you find any problem, please let us know.
Thank you for your long patience.
Your doll is finished with production and is now being packed for shipping.
We will ship within next week and let you know the tracking number as soon as it is shipped."

Do they really think we did not notice the change to the coupon?:eusa_naug
Anyway, I still hold out hope that mini Grant will ship in the next couple of weeks. :abambi:

    34. Those are fantastic! My Mom throughly enjoyed playing with all the hands that came with him xD

    35. Here we are. Some eye experiments.

The 6mm full round gape at the sides (predictably. I got the eye sizers in there and it is an 8m eyewell and right up to the edges of the eye opening). The 3.5mm irises look fractionally large and the 3mm fractionally small. As I tend to like small irises, I am going with 3mm, for realism.

    36. My Grant Phillippe arrived today, and I'm really excited to start working on him!

I do feel like something of a heel because I didn't have to wait a year for him like everyone else. (I only got back into the hobby a couple of months ago after several years absence.) I pined after the sculpt once I learned of his existence, though, and I was lucky enough to find my guy on Ebay in exactly the skin tone I wanted.
      Here's his box opening.

Now, I just dread finding pants (and eyes I actually like) for this little behemoth.

      • x 1
    37. Congrats! :) Their pale tan is a lovely color.

I just ordered some of those "6mm" oval eyes (in blue because they were out of gray), plus some crystal cabochons in 2.5 and 3mm to try making some eyes. I tried the violet eyes (also the "6mm" oval size) that I showed some pages back and they fit and looked fine as far as iris size, no gaps on the sides either. If the blues is too dark I have another fellow who can wear them. The hardcap wig I started way back when I ordered him actually came out okay. I used a styrofoam head base that I carved by measurements and eyeballing the right shape from photos. It looked like a deranged tribble at first (I used my knotting technique for the whole thing, not just the parting) but with a little combing and a trim it's looking not bad. Still no clothes, though.

    38. So much work to be done on these.

Mine is faceupped. I did it last night and haven't yet scrutinised it in the cold light of day. Might be awful. And a hardcap wig cap is drying on the sleeping head. Just hoping the sleeping head is exactly the same shape and size as the OE head or I am starting again. Serves me right for trying to get everything done on the same day. Anyway, we'll see.

    39. I am hoping you do one of your excellent reviews and maybe some comparison pictures of the 1:4 scale-ish dolls when you get time, Max. I cannot wait to see how you style your guy.

    40. Yes, I hope to do the review end of next week, life permitting.

And now to hair the wig. Wish me luck!

    41. Good news! I now have the shipping notice for my Grant! So fingers crossed he will be here by end of the week. Then I'll just be waiting on Amanda to arrive. Hopefully she will be delivered by end of December but probably realistically January.

    42. @xtal Thanks! I may have to look into getting or making some 6mm oval eyes. I have some 8mm acrylics lying around, but the irises are way too big for my tastes. That's a really good idea on the cabochons, though; I'd love to see how they turn out. I'd also like to try a hardcap wig, but I just finished rooting a vinyl doll yesterday, so it'll probably be a while before I feel like facing a doll hair project in any manifestation.

My guy got a temporary set of face ups today. I'm not quite happy with how they turned out, though (not to mention my MSC was finicky and left white spots on the last layer). His heads are so little and fiddly, it feels a lot like working on 1/6 scale figures. [IMG]
No clothes yet. I have a Tonner Matt shirt that would fit fine, but it looks a bit silly without pants.

@MadamMauMau Good luck on your wig!

@maryfairy5 Congrats on your shipping notice! Hopefully he'll arrive quickly.

    43. Well, I am flabbergasted ! I just got up at 3 am to let my puppy out and checked my email. I got shipping notices. Not just for mini Grant but for Van and Rey Lewis as well! So maybe they tried to get all 3 sent at once to save on shipping. But I really only expected one to come at a time. I may actually not make the one year club after all!
      :sumomo::dance:mwahaha

    44. Congrats, Therealwalter. That should be a great box opening!!

Kayka, you did a nice job on your guy, congrats to you too.

    45. Walter, that is great news! A good start to the day.

Kayka, I agree. Sooooo fiddly. I like the lips on those. Very natural.

Faceup and wig done, and the wig doesn't look too much like bad taxidermy. I had hoped to wait for his forever eyes to arrive before taking photos, but I might be driven to get the camera out tonight in celebration of a completed wig (they don't often happen round here).

    46. @Therealwalter Whoa, congrats on that huge shipping (at long last)!

@MadamMauMau Oh I'd love to see a pic of how he looks atm! :D

My guy's OE head is now officially on his way to his face-up artist as of Saturday and I might have found s.o. willing to make me a custom Alpaca wig on his teeny tiny head, woho! At this point, I might see him partially completed (save tattoos and clothes) within the first trimester of 2016.

    47. Kayka, nice faceup! I saw your comment on the Tonner shirt. So is he comparable in size to the Tonner Matt doll?

Therealwalter, wow Christmas is coming early at your house.

Madammsumsu, can't wait to see photos of your guy.

Ordered eyes and dug out my mohair in anticipation of Grants delivery. I need to go to the Dollshe site to see if I can figure out the size eyes Amanda will need. I know she will not be here for a while but it would be nice to be prepared.

    48. Here we go. Quick picture of Josef (Grant Phillippe). He is a ballet dancer and now I really need to find him some ballet shoes. I suspect I will be making them. *sigh*

Ignore the eyes, they aren't staying. I will post another picture when his forever eyes come in.

Mohair hard cap wig. The pain of making a short wig that small!

      • x 6
    49. cool - he looks like a ballet dancer. and awesome wig!!

    50. The wig came out excellent. He looks younger than most Grants in this photo.

    51. I think that might be because of the large eyes, at least in part. I am looking forward to seeing what he looks like with his smaller eyes.

Thank you, ATYL. That body is just begging to be turned into a ballet dancer's.

    52. @maryfairy5 The few Tonner Matt things I have seem a bit big in the waist. They could always be tucked or pinned back, I guess. Here's a quick pantsless fashion show! Shirt: From the Gent Casual collection Jacket: Tonner Ron Weasley Casual
      [IMG]
Unfortunately, I don't have any Tonner Matt or athletic body pants to try. The only Tonner pants I have are for a female figure, and while I can pull them all the way up, they absolutely won't go around my Grant's dangly bits, and simply make for a rather interesting wardrobe malfunction.

@MadamMauMau I *love* Josef's wig! I want a shortish wig for my guy, so I'll have to make one of my own, eventually.

And thank you, @oriscany ! I can't wait to get some lighter colored eyes for him so that he looks more the way I intend.

    53. Wow, wonderful work everyone! :D Mine will be naked for a while (have another sewing project to finish first).

    54. @MadamMauMau already said it on flickr but I love the wig on him!

I just caved and got my buy a pair of stretchy leather pants to wear. He had been wearing his daughter's Iplehouse JID hotpants... and that was hilarious but wrong on so many levels. Wig situation is also sorted out, my favourite wigmaker is giving it a try to see if she can do the hairstyle I want so yay :D

    55. I wondered why this thread was so silent, I guess my watch notifications are not coming through correctly. It's great to see more shipping notices for everyone and the new arrivals, plus faceups! I won't send Numair off for a faceup until after the holidays but I am looking forward to it. As for eyes I was still hoping to convince Michelle of Dollbakery formerly AisuAisu to give 8mm with a small iris a go if I could get a GO together but she's not confident of her skills in that size :(

Numair is still naked. I had a good turnover in sales so I plan on ordering from Luts, Nine9Style, and Etsy soon to get some basics. Here is a shameless shirtless picture in the meantime and links to where I took some photos with my him and my Minifee. While the two of them will never work head on they look great together with a little manipulation.

Thanks for the eye comparison @MadamMauMau and for all of your other amazing posts on here. They've really been helping me with finding backdrops and improving my photography! @Therealwalter :ablink: that's so exciting and I'm glad to know that there was a reason for the holdup on your order.

Also it seems like all of the dolls at Dollshe are on sale again including these guys  I'm sorely tempted to go ahead and order Amanda but I have my eye on an SD sized boy now that I have fallen in love with this guy. Just because SD's didn't work for me with girls doesn't mean that a boy wouldn't ;)

Aalori on Instagram: “I can't wait until he has a faceup, that probably won't happen until next year though. #bjd #dollsofinstagram #dollshe #mnfmio #msdbjd…”

    56. Drat, now I am tempted to get a Rey Lewis and put that 30% coupon to good use /shakes fist

And I really like that wig on your guy :D

    57. Enso Eyes (hane on here) is making 8/3mm eyes. I will be getting a batch of them in any day now and will post pics. She is finalising her process for them, but hopes to have them up for open sale soon.

      I will keep you posted.

      • x 1
    58. Yes, I messaged her the other day and she told me that.
I was hoping Arlequeen on Flickr might start selling hers. If you've never seen them you have to check them out, they're amazing.

    59. We will wait and see. With the recent proliferation of mature, realistic 1:4 scale dolls, the 8/3mm eyes size is becoming a grail.

And, for those still waiting or wondering whether to buy, I took an awful photo to show the scale of these things. Look at it! Those tiny nail art brush sets that are currently all over eBay for a few quid are essential here. I have no idea how I would have managed without them.

    60. Yes! Please keep us updated!

The eyes I bought my David definitely don't work. I ordered them before they all started coming in, so that's not a big surprise. I guess I'll have to keep looking until some become more readily available (Hah.)!
