@Teseya Congrats on making it through such a long wait! I'm glad you finally get to enjoy your girl.

@TatterPunk I've a yen for knee-high boots myself so I'm vicariously excited to see what you get worked out for custom boots, haha.

 

The seller is gonna do it! I'm super excited. .. they're even less money both than the last pairs of boots I bought for myself. .. so I'm either doing well.. or I'm spending too much on people boots lol.
I'm getting them from MarbleMoonShop on Etsy. . . pretty sure all the girls are gonna be fighting over them until Myrrh's body gets here.

 

Ooo! Those look nice! Real leather is so nice, as I'm sick of the pleather/PLU on doll shoes and clothes flaking almost immediately. I'd only worry a bit about the dyes. I may commission her for shoes for my boys and my new Diana. I wonder if the bimong narae pointes are similar to my Diana's.
Also, I can tell a true doll owner by the phrasing of your shoe buying experiences, paying too much for people shoes is not something normal people would say, lol! Just us.

 

@TatterPunk Oh marblemoon is great! I'll have to remember to poke her when the time comes. Also I feel you on the people shoes, but I do believe in quality over quantity there. XD

 

She'll be wearing stockings most times so the dyes won't be a problem, so there's that at least. I too am tired of all the faux leather in the doll shoes.. and human ones for that matter. And don't get me started on people calling it "vegan leather"... anyway though.
I tend to spend a lot more on doll things that I would on people things, it's kinda ridiculous if you think about it...they don't even need to actually WALK anywhere! But . . . .it makes me happy so yeah.

I have high hopes for these boots, they're to be black, knee high, laceup with three buckles, and silver pointedish toes. I love the Dollshe feet.. I don't love trying to fit shoes on them. Poor Vincent is still shoeless cause I can't find anything yet that I find properly perfect for him. He may need some custom boots.. as may my smol Adonis when he shows up eventually.
I would sooner spend this much on doll footwear than on human footwear.

 

Does anyone know of any heeled feet that fit the 28M body? I was thinking that Iplehouse female FID feet might work, but I'm not sure.

 

I just tested it and they don't fit at all. The ankle of the FID foot is much too wide for the 28M foot, and the feet are so much shorter he has a barbiedoll look about him. Thanks for testing it! A shame they don't fit, because I'd love to have some heeled feet for my Rey Lewis and I figured those would be a good option, even with the length mismatch. Back to the drawing board I guess!

 

So...I had always wanted a saint all these years. Dollshe came out with the msd version and I was stoked. However, I have been seriously annoyed with myself lately because the more I look at my Saint, the more I dislike him. I have been looking at photos of Saints and it seems to me that the ones I gravitate to have smaller eyes. Some seem to have larger eyes...is that just my imagination?

Maybe someone familiar with the SD versions knows for certain. I know he revamped his dolls numerous times over the years with different body styles and faceplate vs head with headcap.

I am very tempted to mod his eyes smaller or use his sleeping head to make a smaller OE. The newer sculpts have smaller eyes (which I prefer) than the older ones and it sort of dashes my dreams a bit about finally having an msd saint. He seems almost cartoonish in comparison with his large 8mm eyes.

 

@redmaiko It's not you lol. There's been at least 4 saints. The original had the smallest eyes I think. There was headcap and a faceplate renewal. Then there was the grown... The grown is what made it to the fashion scale. He actually has the most similar 'vibe' to the original, plus the SA/EN versions made it possible to get any kind of saint wanted. Saint also just has a much more doll-like big eyed vibe than the newer dollshe sculpts of course. That said, Saint is one of those sculpts that's made or broken by the faceup, so that's a factor too.

So no, you're not crazy at all, and also there's a lot of factors at play.

 

@rianne You know, that makes a lot of sense! I'd been wondering recently why I saw Saints with varying eye and mouth sizes, but I thought it must have been the faceups making them look so different. Thank you for solving that mystery!

 

So I did some digging, and OG saint had big eyes. I've owned the headcap and faceplate models that came out between that very limited initial run (there's hardly any of the original saint) and the grown redesign. The headcap version has more of the subtle musculature that og/grown saint both have. The faceplate model has the smallest features: even the nose is shorter.

Part of what throws people is that SDink let Dollshe use her images for the official pages, and they just used her saint (well, one of them: i think the one they're using is a faceplate version) as the default model, regardless of the actual sculpt version. You need to scroll down or go to the blog and find the grey masters to see the actual sculpt. The other thing is most people don't note the version they have, so researching via owner images is a mess if you aren't really good at visual ID.

 

Wow!! Thank you for that @rianne ! They really are very different-similar but different. 2009 version eyes seem to be the one that originally drew me in as that one came out not long after I got into the hobby. SDs have always been too large for me so I wasn't aware just HOW different they were. Yup, I am definitely modding mine!

 

Hi! I might be buying an Dollshe Amanda 41 cm girl (secondhand) and was wondering what eye size do you recommend for a realistic look?

 

I have one here, and she fits the various small iris 6-7mm I have lying about. I don't know which head version this one is though.

 

I usually special order 7mm PW3 for my Amanda from Dreaming Tree Eye.. meaning paperweight with small iris, but not as small as the ones for Erica who gets PW3x cause her eyes are smaller. I like the 7mm cause it ensures no gapping but still fits nicely.

 

I was gonna get her some 6 mm would that be too small then?

 

I haven't really tried 6mm rounds at all as I don't have any lying around. If @rianne says they work then likely they do. .. It's just a preference thing really I think.

@vvnem as @TatterPunk says it's partly a matter of shape and maker and partly a matter of preference. 7mm with an extra small iris will work just fine. I use 6mm ovals from dollines in all of mine because I always glue in lashes and that allows zero gapping as well.

 

Was Aramis ever made in this size? Can I see owner photos of him?

 

So the Fashion 44cm Arsene my partner and I split for arrived yesterday - we were totally stoked, and he's gorgeous. I've been clothes shopping (luckily, my partner's just going with 'modern' some kinda storyline) for these boys, but I'll admit eyes are still giving me some bit of fuss. I've had a few different makers recommended, but I'm still wandering around like a lost duck as to what I should get.

Ideally, for Arsene, I'm looking for a nice warm brown that fits his eyewells decently, where the pupil/iris isn't too big or too anime-fear small. I like urethanes and glass, but would make exception for particularly nice acrylics or some hybrid blend thereof.

Interestingly, my Arsene's head seems quite small, and his copper oriental isn't the new slightly pinker copper oriental. So I think he's, mysteriously, the older style 44cm Arsene and Arsene body?

What you do, Mr Dollshe? lol

But, he's a love, and I plan to order him some jeans and a shirt on Etsy next payday. Possibly eyes too, if I can settle on anything/figure out a solid plan for what to get.

With that in mind, do feel free to rec some eyes at me (re: I'm seeking a warm brown), that you know fit Arsene. Links appreciated!

Ugh I'm terrible at wigs and I'm staring at my Ausley's half finished one. I need motivation to fix it, but I think I messed up too badly. Her head is just so small I have to make one, because there's no way I can find what I want for a reasonable price.

Poor baby just looks so sad. Naked and half hairless.

 

Don't think I've actually shared my girl here? Might as well now that I remembered this board was here xD Well here is P. She's a Bernard sculpt on a granado Jane body. and I happily made her wig....oddly I usually make most of my wigs...

 

What a great hybrid! That wig is miraculous. Is it lace/threaded? it looks natural. I have yet to make a wig for my Diana, but she really needs one that suits her.

 

It is. I have a horrible masochistic love of making my own ventilated wigs. I'm up to 4 with 1 for a friend done and 4 more planned. What I do with my guys is I'll do a latex hard cap as well to attach the ventilated lace wig on so it's not so fiddly.

 

All of your dolls are so beautiful. I'm in the waiting process for a Rey Lewis, so I've been perusing pictures and day dreaming about what style to do. I'm only six months in, but I love seeing all your dolls in the meantime.

I was stumbled upon several 1/4 versions of SD Dollshe Craft dolls, specifically Hound and Philippe on BJDivas. It looks as if they are no longer sold. I am comparatively new to BJDs (and totally new on DoA), don't own any SDs and all I knew about Dollshe so far is that it is easiest to buy dolls second hand because the waiting time is insanely long (though worth the wait according to most people).

I couldn't find a thread for the 1/4 dolls and was therefore wondering if they were off-topic? They are not listed on the DoA company description but that doesn't seem to have been updated in a while, so that doesn't help me. Are they no longer produced or were they limited? I find them very intriguing!

 

Part 4 is right here I love my Dollshe boys (and my pukis ) They are still sold on sort of a rotating basis.

Edit: Hello everyone, I realized when I got my second doll that not not all resin tones and sizes photograph well together. My doll plans don't include SDs. But when I stumbled upon Dollshe's 1/4 I was a bit smitten by their mature minis. While I don't plan to have a couple at all I would like all my dolls to photograph well together. Since a Unoa Lusis with her big eyes wouldn't work with a Dollshe, I was wondering, if any of you guys thought that a Narae would look well with any of the DS dolls and there could even be a family resemblance. Reading through all 21 pages, I became more and more interested in Arsene especially, since he looks a bit more in the boyish side. Maybe one of you has seen a picture of both dolls together or even owns both of them? Thank you for pointing me in the right direction!

 

I just got my Dollshe 44cm guys out and I don't think they would work with Narae.

 

I think the Dollshe boys' heads are way too small to work well with Narae unfortunately. I don't have a Narae, but my Grant looks bad with my Unoa, who is a similar head size.

So I was just looking at some doll clothes on Etsy for one of my other dolls that specified they were made for Dollshe 28m fashion doll, so I went and looked up that line of dolls to get some measurements to compare...

and somehow I wound up purchashing 28M Fashion Maxi Grant Phillippe in oriental mango resin lasjdfalksdj
I just had to stumble across them while they were on sale
How was I supposed to say no when he was on 69% off sale, though???? I mean really. I only have so much self control.

 

The prices are good, but the wait time is torture! I don't know when my Fashion David will show up, the waiting is testing me...
