Dolls you'll never have....

Feb 1, 2019

    1. Updating my earlier post a bit, here... But a year and change later, I actually have my impossible-to-find Lati Temple Knight K now.

But... yeah. Still no luck on his Oracle M brother, or that Soul Doll Celestyn. Drat!

    2. I yearn to own a Lesser Snow mermaid from Angell Studio, even though she's been long sold out (as far as I know) and I have no idea how to get her 2nd hand. She's what started me into the BJD world proper and I would just love to have her for her gorgeous aesthetic. But I'd go for any of AS's 1/3 dolls, really. All their ladies are so pretty but I've kinda resigned myself to pine for them from a distance, haha

    3. LUTS Senior Delf Vega. When I l started out in this hobby, I couldn't really afford BJDs while going to school so I had always hoped that I would be able to buy him after a certain time. Unfortunately I had other things come up and since he was limited, he sold out long before I was finally able afford him. I haven't seen him pop up on the second hand market or knowing of any others who had bought him so for now, I think he's just impossible to get :'3

It also sucks so much because up until now, I still consider him a perfect shell for one of my OCs q_q

    4. I really don't feel like any doll is impossible for me to get. I just have to decide if it's worth the effort and money to me to get that doll. Certainly there's dolls with very limited productions that are extremely difficult but if I save up enough money and wait patiently, I know that doll will show up eventually so I can grab it. Generally though, I decide it's not worth the effort. There's a very limited number of dolls that are worth that hardship to me.

I've recently started telling myself that if it doesn't happen, then it's not meant to be. That's alright with me! I can't buy every doll I want anyway. I wouldn't have any space in my house and I would definitely have no money.

    5. Soom's original release of Zedo was amazing, in bronze skin with dragon feet and gold translucent dragon wings. I don't like the visible teeth and lack of elf ears with his dreamy-eyed sculpt, but otherwise he's gorgeous. I can get a doll with similar feet, but not those dragon wings in that color. Sigh...

    6. I wanted to get more of the 5 Star Doll SDs. I have Tumnus and Edmund, but I waited too long and they have all been discontinued. I was going to get the last Kevin and Bright recently, but someone beat me to it while I was saving up the money, and they are both gone.
I'm really hoping they re-release some, or bring out new sculpts. I love their dolls.

    7. Beatrice Dollfie dream, she`s one of my biggest dreams.

    8. Volks SD 2019 Dolpha One Off Tea Party Lorina. Wow that dress! Those colors and that dress just really pop! The outfit is really pretty on the Lorina sculpt but it would have looked great on any Volks sculpt. Whoever won that doll is very lucky indeed! The likelihood of that one person selling that outfit with or without the doll I would say are none! One of the prettiest dolls I’ve ever seen tho so I admire any pics I see of it.

    9. Soom 2011 Migma-Rauco of Sin full set and Soom 2015 Heliot-White Night Destiny female version.

Got in to the hobby way too late and the current prices I don't even want to know, if they would ever be for sale even:sorry

    10. For me, it would definitely be the Iplehouse EID Luo. I always thought he was the most handsome male sculpt I’d ever seen. But alas, he was just too big and I never found an appropriate character to fit the sculpt, so I just admired him from afar until his sculpt was finally cancelled by the company.

    11. Fairyland's minifee Liria

Really wish I had been in the hobby when she released cuz second hand she is waaay too expensive. I hope one day they re-release her. I think a lot of us FL lovers would purchase her in a heartbeat.

    12. I swore I wont get Soom dolls in this lifetime coz they're way over my budget but boy was i wrong. I ended up with 2 id75. So be careful of what you wish for.:doh

    13. In my particular case, there are like three subcategories or scenarios in that list:
      1. Dolls I definitely would buy but were limited and have disappeared from the world, like Dearmine's Loc Labyrinth.
      2. Dolls that don't fit in my crew so I won't buy even though I think they look really good, like Souldoll's Joelle D.
      3. Dolls that, even if somehow fitted in my crew, are too big for my comfort (I don't buy anything bigger than MSDs).
There is a small bunch of dolls in every of those categories that I like to look at or search for in doll profiles or flickr.
I'm glad there are others who have those dolls so I canhappily observe them without spending money or space xD

    14. Will add Dust of Dolls Roze Heln to this list because her secondhand prices keep getting more ridiculous as time goes on.

    15. I have gotten most of the dolls I wanted. However, there are a couple I think I will probably never own.
I used to really want a Dollshe Bermann and would probably be happy if I ended up with one, but at this point, I will probably never get one. Right now the new Bermann is pretty inexpensive on the Dollshe website, but if I decided I had the money for another doll, I would probably get a different one. Dollshe Craft is still one of my favourite companies from an artistic standpoint, but I don't want to deal with the wait times and lack of communication I have seen other people talking about.
I also doubt I will ever get an Iplehouse Kamau. I got the Asa I wanted for so long second-hand, and she's just too big. I am glad I have her, but she is a pain to deal with. I prefer SD and bigger dolls generally, but the EID woman body is so heavy and takes up so much space, I mostly leave her in her box. I cannot imagine I would enjoy dealing with an EID man.

    16. I only have a few BJDs (most of my dolls are other kinds) but probably the one I am most in love with but will never have is a large Pepper Annie by Nikki Britt. They're hard to find and oh so much money

    17. Volks' SD 16 Lady Oscar and SD 17 Andre. Unfortunately, I couldn't get them when they were released. Availability isn't that much of a problem, they pop up every now and then, but the prices are insane (€ 2000 or more). Not to mention the custom fees I'd have to pay because most sellers are from outside of the EU.

    18. Minifee juri 14. I would pay an excessively large sum to have this mini soony but no one is selling one!

    19. Mostly likely certain grail dolls. Either because their second hand prices would be out of my price range or because I'm a mint condition or near mint condition kind of collector. But I'm okay with that though. It's fun to see what's available now, and as I see it, dolly technology is always improving so I'm sure there will be many more beautiful and handsome dolls in my future.

    20. Yeppers that's my boy grail even though i roughly like realism in dolls. (i just prefer them to look like dolls more than like real people)
Although i could buy him and be happy with him, sadly when he were re-sold from Dollshe again, i wasn't working at the time so no luck for me getting him. I was just watching the DoA MP seeing all venitu go poof. :...(

    21. Jo March from Volks. Even if I would be able to save up enough the custom fees and taxes would be so high that I could afford a whole doll from these alone.

    22. I'm starting to think I'll never get a rap1993 Danni in Cherry resin. It wasn't a super popular colour and the one a saw second hand was gone in an instant. Thankfully Rap did quite a few pre-orders before discontinuing her so their not overly expensive right now....

    23. I think I talked about this in another thread, but its a good question. I really want some of the gorgeous mature male face sculpts, but first of all they are all out of my price range, and secondly they are all too tall. I still don't have a 70cm boy, and I can't see myself ever getting one because I don't have the space to display that tall of a doll. And now it is REALLY discouraging because handsome boys are getting into the 80cm range ARRGGHH!!

    24. Some Dream of Doll and CP delf sculpts. They become too expensive on the second hand market due to their rarety and am not willing to spend that much ^^

    25. A lot of Dollshe dolls that, due to their "business" practices, I will not buy from Dollshe. I may never find them secondhand. We shall see- one day.

    26. ooooo best of luck! she's gorgeous.

    27. Chocolat Roze Heln :.( her price keeps going up...

    28. I’ve always loved enchanted doll, but the waiting list is like two years and they’re super rare and expensive :...(

    29. I don’t believe I will see an AngelHeim msd, which is one of my grails that I don’t think I’ll be able to get. They’re long defunct and I’m not sure how many were bought back then.

Maybe one day!! I’ve gotten many other dolls that I thought were unobtainable, so maybe this one isn’t too far fetched either!

    30. I really really love the Granado Evol body. To this day, this is probably my favorite male body (the muscular 66 cm Popodoll body is a close second). But it's just too big. XD

    31. I have a running list, sadly:
      • Soom Heliot (65cm+ is too big for me, if he were 62cm...)
      • Granado Enoch (beautiful, expressive, way too big for me)
      • K-doll Kamyu (I already have sleeping dolls I love, also I had a Kayan and a Karon and they didn't stick)
      • Elfdoll Vivien/Emma (pop up rarely, super popular, no real plan if I did have one)
      • CP Shiwoo Elf (super limited, pop up rarely, very popular, would be expensive)
      • Volks Sophie (Pink House collab release in 2019 for LA Dolpa, very few of them, expensive)
      • Volks F75 (love him, but again no real plan and the eyes are a little too large for me these days)
      • Volks Okita Souji SD13 version (Don't see him pop up much, expensive, eyes too big)
      • Peakswoods Rosemii (love her, but she doesn't fit my current collection well)
      • Youpla Shuri (head/eye size is too small for my collection and wouldn't fit well)
      • Fashion size anything (would have to buy a whole range of new clothes/eyes/wigs for them, barrier to entry is high when I've been collecting SDs for years)
I keep running into the situation where I buy something I thought I would be head over heels for and it turns out to be very different in person, so these "hard to acquire" dolls all have barriers that put extra risk into the equation if I don't love them (or if I do).

It would be terrible if I did love them and I had to buy a whole new range of clothes for a single doll or if they were so heavy I didn't want to handle them, but at the same time liked them too well to sell. Or if I sank a small fortune into something I felt mediocre about when it arrived, or couldn't find a style I clicked with. Sometimes the reason why you don't have something is super valid beyond it being hard to find.

    32. Nefer kane's Moon is probably one that I'll never have. I rarely see any pictures of them. Would love to know any owners and how they styled the doll.

    33. I guess never say never, but these are ones I don't think I'll ever have. They're dolls I wouldn't buy even if I saw them for sale. In no particular order:

      • Dream of Doll Ducan elf ver. (company went under, secondhand he's rare and usually too much)
      • Dream of Doll Kalix in grey (same as above)
      • A second Sweet Gale Cyril (I wouldn't buy this even if it came up, because I already have one and I know it's rare, so I'd feel bad)
      • Peakswoods Kass/Kasspio in grey (I just can't bring myself to spend this much whenever he's available, and I don't think I ever will; I don't want him quite enough)
      • One of the big Soom centaur boys (too expensive)

    34. Probably my grail, Somnia Crawler Nara. Patiently waiting for another pre-order. Also Pipos Bao… he’s so hard to find now!

    35. I would love to find a second hand doll chateau Dennis one day but I doubt I ever will.

      • x 2
    36. Ringdoll's 1/3 Sebastian :,) he's my only grail that I don't own. I've been hunting for him for a while now and I only saw him for sale once and the listing was over $2,000 (without shipping and proxy fees + the site doesn't do layaways). :chomp: There's only 50 dolls so the chances of me getting him are slim to none. :sweat

    37. A Soom Onyx, preferably the romantic eye head. I have loved that doll for over a decade now, and she was one of the first I fell in love with upon getting into this hobby. (I had nowhere near the money for her at the time.)

I prefer the original head sculpt, although the newer one is nice, too. But the original is so old and limited that it does not seem likely that I would be able to find one in decent condition, for a good price. (I refuse to shell out over a certain amount of money for any doll.)

I am living without one just fine right now, so if I never get to own her (or some others on my mental “wish list”), I will continue to enjoy my ideas of her.

    38. Probably a Delf Soony and almost certainly a Volks Coming of Age Nono. :chomp:

    39. Volks Lieselotte Galerie de l'esprit and Volks Lorina SDGR Junichi Nakahara. I think both of these dolls are gorgeous, but the secondhand prices of these two are just to far out of my budget (without a very long layaway), sadly. Maybe one day!

    40. Migidoll Miho in tan, on Style65 Guy body v2. (And I mean original Miho, not his later variants.) Since Migidoll has discontinued both head and body, he's going to be pretty hard to get.

But I'll never say never... who knows what the secondhand market will cough up one day...

    41. Iplehouse Benny in Ebony skin. My graal doll... :'')

    42. Doll I never have.....a chance to own is a doll from Echanted doll, Marina Bychkova. I can always look at pictures and dream, and be grateful of the beautiful dolls I do own.

      • x 3
    43. Well I will never have any doll made by Marina Bychkova :( they are just way to expensive. And I just realised that I'm not alone in my sadness XD

      • x 1
    44. Dollshe Diana. Unless I can manage to snag one second hand at some point. Just don’t trust ordering from them after everything I’ve read :/

      • x 3
    45. I'm not going to say it's totally impossible, but I know that they'll be at least difficult to find: Shou Shou anime girls. All of them: Niko and Dou Dou, but mainly Coco Kitty/ Mao Keke.

    46. Ah... I have a few...

Crobidoll Ziwoo, an once in a lifetime Christmas charity sale, never to be seen again. I have searched for years and years but could never find one.
Crobidoll Red, another limited Crobi, this time released for their collab game with cheritz, Nameless. Very few were made, and even fewer pictures of them exist, so I can't even admire from afar.
Fairyland Minifee Nanuri 2014, had this particular sculpt in the past but sold it when I was doing one of my dolly purges way back in the day when I was a much more fickle owner than I am today
and last but not least Volks Suiseiseki, my daydream of many many years ago. An extremely old and rare doll that, even when she does crop up, she goes for prices I could never justify... thus she will forever remain a dream.

    47. Bjdivas has a Niko on sale rn I think.

      • x 1
    48. Volks 水銀燈 ... so hard to win:...(

    49. Volks x Pink House Yumepi :...(

      • x 2
    50. One of Curato's dragons or Spirit Imprint's She Is a Dragon, alas. I'd seen posts about them before I took the BJD plunge, and thought they looked interesting, but I have no idea if there'll be another release of the latter (and the price is a tripping point) and Curato seems to have stopped producing BJDs entirely.

    51. Weird entry but I don't know if I'll ever own a Merry Doll Round Pygmy. I love those dolls but I always miss their pre-orders. I'm always keeping an eye out for pre-loved ones but it's been years.

      • x 2
    52. Souldoll Aku. I missed the little cat, when it was still available. It is sold out for years now and I don‘t think it will ever come back.

    53. There are a few dolls that I love the aesthetic of, but they’re way outside my budget. I honestly think that even if I somehow managed to accumulate the necessary cash, I would still be uncomfortable buying them, so I will just continue to admire them from a far.

    54. I really love a lot of SD sized dolls aesthetically, especially Luts Delf Nina (The first doll I fell in love with ever. She actually got me into the hobby). But I just don't have the space or money for larger dolls. Also I don't think I'll ever get a Fairyland Minifee. I adore them, but the availability always fluctuates on what sculpts I can find, and I can never decide who I want! I feel like I would choose one, and then regret I couldn't have the other sculpts I didn't pick. They are in my budget if I save up, but I don't think I could afford numerous ones of them, so I'd have to settle on one. Maybe someday! Especially if I get one second hand

    55. After getting my first doll, which is yosd size, I really that sd sized dolls would be way to big for me! :sweat I wouldn't have any space to put a doll that big and probably would be a little awkward when handling it. It's a little unfortunate since there's so many beautiful sculpts in that size and a lot more options when it comes to wigs and clothing.

    56. She is Dragon are sooo so elegant
And hearing about Cuerto is really disappointing:(

    57. Never say never! I was the EXACT same way when I first started. My very first doll was a PukiPuki Ante and I went SD for quite sometime. I think I've fully settled in to MSDs now :)

      • x 1
    58. Volks Maacha:(

    59. Volks is pretty good at grail farming XD

      • x 1
    60. Truly, I wouldn't let myself enter the lottery for her when it was happening and now I fully regret my choice ;w;
