Dolls you'll never have....

Years ago, a lolita group I frequented were going wild over a Volks Momoko going on auction. I got swept up on the hype train, feeling a powerful urge to get her and knowing I couldn't afford it.

Then I realized I didn't want to own her, just look at her. Volks dolls may be expensive, but copying and pasting images to My Pictures is free.

 

I love a lot of youthful sculpts from Switch, RamCube, and Angell Studio. But my crew aesthetic now wont allow many cause they fall towards semi-realistic looking sculpts unlike before.

just an example 5th motif venitu. though someday I would possibly have the 1400 dollars it generally takes to get a full of these dolls (a low price for that doll but still a lot for a young collector) I don't think I could connect with such an expensive doll. and I would be afraid to do anything with it if I ever would want to resell him.
other than that there is most of doll chateau's now discontinued dolls. seriously some of those sculpts were the ones that got me into the hobby. luckily I got myself the one I wanted the most but it still saddens me that I will never get a mephisto.pheles or any of the other beautiful sculpts that got dicontinued.
there is also popovy sisters rat girl inspired by yolandi vi$$er from die antwoord. I am not even sure they sell her? if they do she is probably somewhere near 2000.
then there has also been some zombie sculpts that I would have died for but they have all been discontinued. I'm serious someone out there make a nonlimited zombie doll, please

also, my current wishlist is around 30+ dolls and I will never get so many dolls no matter if I got the money. just because I want the attention between my dolls to be equal and that's hard with 30+ dolls (i think, I obviously don't have 30+ dolls) but I would imagine me only liking 6-8 dolls and then maybe some tiny's.

 

One other doll that I really adore and will never have is a Lusion Ice Dahlia. I'm totally in love with her, but she's huge, and really the kind that I would buy full set just to look at. (And that's a LOT of money for eye candy! LOL!)

The one doll I am really still looking for is DC Jodie, but there are a lot of others I regret not getting before they were discontinued. 5SD Yami in purple skin, for instance. Or Boo and Squee, or any of the Dreamhigh Studio micros. All dolls that were discontinued while I wasn't looking... I'm not sure I'll 'never' have any of them, though. If they crop up on the MP or on eBay I will probably try to get them.

 

I like babylamb, but it's too expensive for me. But I still think I can buy it through my own efforts.

 

Soom supergem Gena, any of the old CP delf Sculpts (like sometimes I cry over them... the characters I had for them too), and a lot of the super popular event heads from fairyland. As much as I want them I'm not really in a place where I can spend $600+ on a single head. :/

For me it would be a Volks SDgr Date Masamune 2nd Version! He's so gorgeous but it seems like I just can't bond with male dolls. And he's too expensive to buy him only to play a gamble of whether I like him or not.

I think ultimately MDR Fang is going to end up that way. She is so gorgeous, but so expensive.

 

Never say never (I thought I would never get the old Delfs I pined for, and now I have the three I wanted) but for me, there are several Dream of Doll sculpts. They disappeared so suddenly I didn't even stand a chance to grab any of them. Twing-key is one, she pops up now and again secondhand but usually in rough shape. There were several SD size ones too. Ducan, Isis, and some of the LEs... if I ever do see them on the secondhand market they're way out of my price range

 

For me, that's almost all the dolls from Soom. They are so gorgeous and so expensive, while the quality isn't the greatest. I probably won't pay that much for the quality, looking at other people's doll satisfies me enough for now.

 

Dolls that are too similar to ones I already own (but I love them all anyway). I have to go look at my dolls every time to convince myself not to buy.

 

I think is enchanted dolls porcelain doll…they are so enpensive that I can‘t afford.

 

Before I seriously talked myself in picking up a BJD, I was making googly eyes at Trinity Dolls for months.
They're so big!! And beautiful!
But so expensive.. Over $2000...

Cuarto Ketar. I saw it and fell in absolute love with that magnificent dragon. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that Ketar isn't worth the price - what with the gorgeous detail and how much work went into the doll. I'm just saying I cannot justify spending that much money all on myself, all at once. My heart cracked a little, but I was able to get over it well enough.

Unidoll Momo and Chabi... I haven’t seen a single Unidoll since buying my Cupi. And I’ll probably never buy a Unoa Lusis or sist. I love them, but so many people have them I’d feel like they would bore me.

 

I still hope that by the age of 70 I will buy Dollmore Trinity Doll Klaire.

 

I think I will never have a Fairyland Rens, Fairyland Rendia and a Fairyland Lucywen in full set. Those dolls are really difficult to come by after they were sold out. I don't think I would be able to buy them even if they were posted in the marketplace because I needed to complete my bjd characters. It's all good though, I think in this hobby we all have to learn one way or another that we can't have all the nice stuff. xD There will always be grails you could only dream of having.

 

It seems every month I find a new doll to add to the list, haha! Ahah...*laughter turns to tears*

Honestly, probably never have any fairyland dolls as much as I love them. Their too much for my budget to justify. If I ever win the lottery, the first thing I'm doing is buying a Minifee. lol

Short of getting super lucky and getting the chance to do Dream FCS and then being able to drop several grand at that moment it'll forever be just a dream.

 

My biggest dream doll is an Volks SD13 Heath. I was interested in BJDs before his release, but Heath was the doll that really made me want to get BJDs. As high school student back then, I could never afford getting him and now I don't think I'll ever dream of owning one as its seems he is hard to find any more.

Unless it was a genuinely small number released (say... less than 10), there exists a possibility that you can snag the doll you lust for. My 2 grails for the longest time were an ImplDoll Miguel the Demon Hunter (LE 100) in grey and a Unidoll Ark in WS (with elf ears). It took me 7 years but I finally got them, ironically within months of each other.

Just recently I was able to purchase 2nd hand a Soom Vesuvia on the Poison Kiss body (from the FCE) and turn her into a him. That had long been a pipe dream of mine because of the cost and rarity of the doll and the very permanent mod I wanted to do. I was fortunate enough to get a good deal on the doll and be in a place financially where I could afford to buy it. My wallet hates me right now but whatever.

I'd love to get my grabby hands on a DZ Dragon baby (I don't remember if that's what they're really called). It was a gift doll I think if you spent a certain amount of money. I'd smash my rule carved into stone about no dolls on the credit card if there was an SD Amon/Kyle on the gargoyle body available.

 

I've been looking for a Luts Delf Moon in white skin for a friend for years. So not my dream sculpt, but hers. I want so badly to surprise her one day with it, but I cannot find one for the life of me

 

A Minifee Sia in fullset version. She has always been my dream doll but I was a teen when her fullset was released, also the price... . I might order her basic version with default faceup someday.

 

I'd really like to get a Souldoll Phiel head... but I'm not even sure how possible this would be or where to look? I'm fairly new, so it's like- I see that you were limited- but does that mean from my life?

 

DearMine Lupy in Canary Skin. I have a golden albino axolotl named Salt and I'd love to get this doll to represent him, but I don't see it ever happening haha.

 

I would love to get my hands on a Little Admiral Hyperon, but I am really sceptic that will ever happen... I came back to the hobby a year too late, unfortunately

 

The only doll I’m after I can’t exactly say the name because the creator is banned from DOA. And I had just read about it all so yeah.

 

I am absolutely desperate for Fairyland's Minifee Siean, but not only is her sculpt hard to come by and expensive--it's hard to come by a legitimate head. Right now I'm just trying to find sculpts that are similar and hope that scratches the itch. I've also seen a lot of very cute sculpts from companies no longer in business and that's so upsetting since I only just started and so many dolls are so far outside my reach.

 

DollPamm's Ice Arubi unless Dr.Mes releases her again. Another one is Dollmore's catish dolls in black resin. I love black cats and would die to get my hands on one of them. Souldoll Chiron the centaur. I would love to hybrid him and turn him into a Lynel from Zelda, Breath of the Wild.

Luke in dark elf version from Dream of Doll obviously because DoD doesn't exist anymore.
More recently Victory from Ringdoll ... I know his sculpt is still avalaible, but I'm so focused on the company make up that it's pretty impossible for me to buy him.
And Lexi from Ringdoll too, because ... elf ears isn't a thing that I want for my first dolls ... maybe latter if he's still avalaible in fullset ...
(I'm waiting for my first doll, and I have already a precise idea of what I want for my second one-)

 

Well, guys, never say never because now I have an Amanda hybrid and she's exactly the character I planned several years ago. I found the head in stock with a dealer and a smaller body I liked for a hybrid that is very close to perfect for the character.

(I also said I didn't like 65cm+ dolls so would never own one and now I have 3, what happened?? )

 

The Feeple65 Angela Medusa full set. She’s sold out, but even if she wasn’t the cost is way out of my budget. I understand the price point, as she’s absolutely stunning and her accessories are super detailed, but she’s definitely a doll I’ll never be able to own.

 

I thought I would NEVER own one of the Soom Onyx dolls from their June event, but I was able to get ahold of Onyx Shadow last month. I’m hoping beyond hope of finding her sister, Light. But it’s been so long since their release and finding someone who wants to part with her is very very hard.

 

Little Update: Actually I've talked with Ringdoll and they offer me a solution to have him and have the possibility to took off his elf ears! So, I really think to buy him ... but not really sure yet!

 

I've seen several Heaths on the marketplace over the years for very reasonable prices! There isn't much demand for him these days so he's not one of the Volks LEs that's going to break the bank to get. You could put up a 'doll wanted' in the MP and see if anyone bites.

The doll I will never get is an Enaibi Satyne. I don't know how many there are but it's not many and it's just impossible.

Some that are just out of my price range are a couple Volks girls, SDGr Lorina and Yuu Morisawa. Which are absolute dream girls but go for a pretty hefty resale price.

 

A lot of dolls I’ll never have are the ones I never see around. I would love to get an elfdoll lovely soah but I can’t seem to find anyone who even has the regular face plate for her. I have the smiling face plate but the others I cannot find at all. Maybe a lot of people done post their dolls....I always hope that some collectors will get involved with social media and some of the rarer dolls will pop up. I’d also like to get a my choice #7 minifee, minifee Ari, luts/minifee chiwoo...oh, and minifee soo. They are so tough to find as well. I think I’ve only seen 3 my choice #7 dolls ever. A girl can still hope and wish though!

 

For me its Asleep Eidolon Dione. She is the most gorgeous mermaid doll I have ever seen. But she was limited and hasn't been available since 2017...I have never seen her on the secondhand market either...If I did though...she would be sold in heartbeat.

FOB Vampire Romantic Dotty Muse_Dark Elves by Peakswoods. I simp for this doll so hard, I literally call her my queen! But I will never buy her because she is too big for me. I like mature yosd sized dolls. plus she is sold out.

 

I am convinced I'll never have a Puyoodoll Kumako Lala or Ruru Lol I hardly ever see any owner photos of these dolls or videos on YouTube. I am convinced they only made like 50-100 and these collectors are hiding their dolls XD

DoD DoT Calla! She was my dream doll way, waaaay back when I first discovered the hobby. She ended up being the inspiration for an OC that I used for everything for almost a decade, and now that DoD is defunct, there's no chance in heck I'll ever own her. It's for the best, I'm sure, but I'll still miss her in my wildest dolly dreams.

 

I would probably never have a doll which has big eyes. I do love them, but when I look at my collections now, all of my dolls have small eyes.

 

My cousin is in love with the MiniFee Chloe full package (amethyst) doll and outfit, but I feel like I'll never be able to find it for her. Sure, Chloe can be purchased a-la-carte and I could put together a similar outfit, but it's just not the same

 

I would dearly love to have a Resin Enchanted Doll painted by Marina Byhkova herself. I have two Resin Enchanted Dolls that were faced up by Angel Toast. They are my treasures and are wonderful! I have seen a couple recently by Marina herself, but they are $5500 and up.

If I could have any of her dolls (my most fervent desire) it would be one of her (off topic) porcelain EDs. But on the secondary market they run into the tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of dollars. So unless I sell my house or win a huge lottery that will never happen.

 

Over two years since my post in this thread, and I'm still (demurely) pining for a Volks Genji. Have come to almost terms with the fact I'm unlikely to score SD17 bodies for two other Volks boy heads I have (who are somewhat bobbleheaded on their SD13 bodies), but I'm willing to dispossess some other brands' heads if necessary. But a Genji would have to be head and body. You don't even see them around any more!

 

I absolutely adore D.Lace's Ex Machina, but I doubt I'll ever have her because I just cant bring myself to spend so much on a doll I love the skeleton body stand head from them as well, but I have no idea where I'd ever find it since it's sold out lmao

 

Sugarble Genie, Soom Euclase, IoS Osiris, and Ringdoll Frankenstein. I've had the opportunity to purchase these dolls either from the company or secondhand and just couldn't pull the trigger. I'd have loved the opportunity to purchase a Souldoll Leira, but she's pretty hard to find. I'll just admire them all from afar

there's few dolls i think would be straight up impossible to get for me with avid and active hunting and adequate cash, but i have my doubts i'll ever be able to find a matchadolls timmy. he's a little artist cast doll from etsy and i haven't seen nor heard from the artist in years

 

ive really wanted a cerberus project yder (type 1 prefered)… but he’s been discontinued for a while now so i really doubt i’ll ever find one ;^_^). ive recently been super into cerberus project sculpts because of their big eyes (theyre a little alien-ish and i really like that)!
