I just need to learn how to wipe and redo faceups once every few months....then I can cut down on Alexes. Or at least not get any more (I can't get rid of any after all lol)
I do think the "new" Tiny Alex is cuddlier. Sometimes I miss the pretty of the Zihu (not that he's not in my head box), but I love the Narsha's chubby cheeks, and giant eyes.

I'm very excited, suddenly I find myself in the posistion of being able to make a Dollmore order and I'm getting Tiny some clothes. Baby and Little Alex have cute sailor suits, so I'll get the Narsha Sailor Suit for Tiny, along with some other things. I'm obsessed with getting new clothes for all my younger Alexes atm.

 

redoing faces on your own cuts down on the number of dolls you own? not so i'd notice

 

No, redoing faceups often lol
I buy new Kara Klum heads just so I don't have to redo the faceups on the ones I already have XD
Then they somehow end up with bodies of their own....
I'm about to start doing it with my Migidoll Ryu, though it's less about his faceup and more about giving him a new expression...I'm just hoping I don't need to make him full dolls as well. His body is my most expensive, and discontinued XD

There was some light yesterday so I went for a long photoshoot, focussing on Gawain and his children - I'd never photographed them together before. Here is Gawain with Lovell, his youngest:



Lovell needs medieval clothes. When, oh when shall I make them?

Since my last post, I *still* haven't got round to making medieval clothes for Lovell, but I did get some nice fabrics last weekend at a hobby fair. In fact, I took Lovell with me to the fair, so, um, she got lucky. I shopped for her in what was actually a shop for teddybears - but there happened to be some items that fit her singularly well! It was fun too, because the teddybear lady was really enthusiastic about providing my tiny with an outfit. She made her try just about every top and every hat. In the end, I chose these:

...Not even close to (tom)boyish, but how could I resist? The top and hat look like they were made for her XD!

 

Shabee made it home. Blank. And needs a face up at some point, I suppose.

 

Guys I need help!! What size eyes do you have in your Narsha?? I'm about to order eyes, but now I don't know if I should 10s or 12s, and he's at home (I'm at work) so I can't check!!

I figure I'll wait til I get home now and order then. I'm so happy to finally eyes in the right color though...it's been driving me nuts! No one sells the right blue...they're all too dark, or a little on the green side, which is not what I want. Stupid Dollmore...get me hooked on their eyes and then only sell them in 14s and up! WTH!

I might have to grab a few extra pairs when I buy my Narsha some lol that way I'll have a stockpile!

 

that's a good idea. it's always annoying when doll companies don't sell the right size for their own dolls!

 

It really is. It kind of made sense back in the day, when their dolls took 14s and 16s, but now they have a lot of different sizes...And I seem to need 10s and 12s more and more.

So last night I took my Narsha and an off topic tiny and compared their eyes (I was confused because I had 10s in the OT tiny and they looked the same as the eyes in my Narsha that I thought were 12s)....yeah. MOC sent me 12mm eyes not 10mm eyes like I ordered :\ Which is why I was so confused on the eye size! And why the "10mm" eyes didn't fit in the OT head! Urg. Every time I order from them it's always something....

 

that's frustrating, and really nice 10 or 12mm are hard to find too. 14mm are easy.

 

I have 12 mm eyes in Lovell too. (Er, that sounds weird.) I have never actually tried 10 mm. The 12 mm (and 10 mm) eyes I have are either from Alice's Collections, when they are high-domed, or from Captured in Glass, when I need low-domed ones. I'm really happy with all of those, though I guess my tastes in eyes are quite simple - I don't look for 'unconventional' patterns or really realistic irises; pretty much my only requirements are that they are glass, the right colour and pretty.

 

The eyes I just ordered are from Alice too...good to know they're nice! I have one pair I got as a gift (Isis has them...she's mostly off topic here lol but she's at least from Dollmore!) and they were really nice. I'm always a little nervous buying glass eyes from new places, and I'm used to Dollmore since I ordered a lot back in the day when they gave them out for free. Then the more Alexes I got the more I had to buy and no one sells that blue :\ so a huge amount of my eyes are DM. I love captured in glass...seems like I need low domes for pretty much everyone...but they didn't have the right color either *doom* so heres hoping Alice's Collections has good pictures!

I love the Narsha body! I am curious about what you don't like.

 

Yeah, I love the body too...there's something about her sculpts that are just so...pretty. I have two Zaoll bodies as well, and even though they're single jointed I just LOVE them. They're so natural, and have a grace a lot of bodies are missing. But that could just be me XD

 

Well, I just think that head looks older than a little kid- plus finding clothes- although I can sew, so I might be able to make something, but Zihu really looks like a mature mini to me...

But I've never seen one of these dolls in person, so the body could be better than it looks in the pictures. I don't know- I want something skinnier and taller... Although the SQLab 30 cm body looks like it would be great for this doll.

I love Zihu's face a ton though. There is something really striking about her.

 

the iplehouse kid body is the same size but a little slimmer. i know i've seen comparison pictures somewhere but can't remember where, sorry (might be on one of the iple kid threads)

 

I saw that. It's not a bad idea. But I was thinking either the SQlab body or a Doll Chateau body. Of course it's all just a fantasy... le sigh... doll funds are tapped out at the moment.

 

Totally, utterly agree! Until I bought my first Gu Mi-jeong doll, all my dolls were double-jointed, so I was a bit worried that I might not like the single-jointed bodies. But I do. Besides, Gu Mi-jeong's body sculpts have more human proportions than most BJDs. They are wonderful, with lovely hands and lovely feet, and like VA13 says, they are graceful too. They may not be capable of some of the more complex poses that my double-jointed dolls can do, but whatever they *can* do, they do naturally and elegantly. Pure love XD...

Awww, what lovelies there are here, and I can't believe I have never posted any pic of Suzuki, my Zihu girl:



And I really must say that I adore this doll. The Zihu face is so delicate, and I adore her body, her hands are so elegant and her posing is great for a single jointed body, and she has very natural poses, too.

This place has been quiet for a while, it seems! I wanted to share my only human doll, Phillipa, or "Pippa" , the Narsha.
her clothes are a bit ragged, but that will eventually be corrected. I also want to get some better glass eyes for her.

I couldn't help myself; I bought a second Zihu off the MP... It's another girl, but this one is definitely going to be a boy :p. I have decided that they will be twins, though that wasn't the original plan at all. Zihu #1 has been renamed Clarissant; Zihu #2 will be Lovell. "He" came with a very feminine, dark face-up that was a bit damaged; I always intended to take it off. Blank, Zihu looks even more like Lovell than I had dared to hope. I am absolutely, head over heels in love with him. He's the same doll as his sister, whom I love to bits as well - but at the same time, his personality was totally different from the first.

I don't know what it is, but my Zihus have something fierce about them. This one really is a little wolf...

Sigune, You are right! It is something that ... It's like a very self-contained boy.

 

Aaaand he has a face-up now. It's funny: he came to me with a dark, girlish face-up (...because once more, this is actually a Sister Zihu, but I pretend it's a boy :p). When I put the wig on him, I thought it might just not work and I'd have to pick another one. But then I wiped the face-up and the wig looked fine. Now with the new face-up I think my boy Lovell has become quite perfect XD. I absolutely adore him!

I finished Lovell's outfit in the meantime and also got his sister a long curly wig... I couldn't resist photographing them together, even though poor Clarissant is in urgent need of styling. The two of them now look like Princess Merida's long-lost siblings, I think :P.
