VA13! I blame you. Yes, you! It's entirely your fault that I just bought a second-hand Zihu! So you are entirely to blame for the fact that I feel, like, ridiculously happy! -Wow, I really have NO self-control. But I WILL have a Zihu soon .
Sigune YAY! I totally did a happy-squeal when I read your post XD I take full responsibility. Happily. lol ETA: Here's the new face up
OooooolovelylittleAlex! *smothers him with kisses* If only my face-up skills were more like yours! Such an adorable sculpt! And I'm going to have one too! *wibbles* My boy is a girl too :P. S/he comes with a custom (Dollmore) face-up that is too girly for my wolfling but really pretty, so I kind of doubt I'll have the courage to wipe it :/. I guess I'll wait and see what it looks like in person, for starters, and see if i can make do with slight alterations or not. S/he'll be coming from the Netherlands, so she should be here really soon... -So, um, from now on my doll family is complete. Theoretically. auntbear, I LOVE spamming my dollies (surprise!), so that's a promise .
Like Heika says/shows, they mostly fit, but sometimes you have to remove the hands to get the arms through the sleeves . ...I find myself eyeing that KID marine set :p.
I can't wait to see!! I'm so excited for you! Lol Alex started out as a boy...then was modded to a girl and back to a boy (ok I haven't done the mods yet, but I will eventually....like, when I do Tween's mods....) - they can totally be "boys" together XD And if you had any idea how many face ups I've done...practice is my middle name XD ...Actually by now it could be my first name. morelle ~ Thank you! I went and looked at the Iplehouse clothes. They're so nice, but luckily (or unluckily) nothing is in my style. The Marine set is the closest to something I'd get but it's almost too sleek. I need more ruffles ^3^
Since my Narsha is not girly by nature, just about everything on the IH site strikes her interest. But since the Narsha hands have to sometimes be removed to get the IH shirts on, what about the adorable sugar bongbong set? Do you think this top would fit Narsha? But basically my Narsha likes the brown overalls and the jeans. So the pants fit OK?
That's good to know...if Iple ever makes fluffier clothes I'm good to go XD If only they sold socks....I am in dire need of socks!
not sure the socks would work anyway. the iplehouse kid have yosd/deardoll sized feet narshas are closer to msd sized. that is the only thing that really doesn't work, unless as someone did you put deardoll feet on your narsha. i would do a search for msd sized socks on ebay or etsy instead, you could probably find some there
D: They have tiny feet! The MSD socks I have (I have a lot of socks) are all a little too big The ones I have on him now are ok, but the heels are out of the shoes XD and it looks odd. Gu mi-jeong likes her odd-sized feet! lol Too bad they make finding shoes and socks so hard!
My Zihu is heeeeeeeeeere! She looks a great deal better in person than she did in the MP sales pictures, and her face-up works remarkably well with the colour of the fur wig I ordered for her (him) months ago (and which fits perfectly). So very lovely! - I'm not really inclined to mod her to a him... Thing is, the children aren't very developed as characters yet, so I like to give their doll versions a 'say' in what they are going to be. I kind of like the idea of Lovell actually being a girl... A bit Lady Oscar-like . I took box opening pictures but I have to time just now to resize and post them - that will be something for the weekend, I think.
*runs in circles* I wanna see now!! Congrats! and lol I may not remod mine either >.< Alexes Teen version is a FtM and I never finished him either (I removed the bewbs and called it done)...so it kind of fits in a weird way.
Okay, well, here is a picture taken with no light, because you asked... :P Meet Lovell, the Little Wolf. Not very wolfish ATM. I haven't got *anything* Narsha-size except for the things she came with. It's a good thing I bought the shoes as well, because I had a lovely pair of boots for her but they seem to be too small :/. Not by much, though, so maybe I should try being a bit more forceful - I dunno. Finally, a fur wig! SO much easier that all those curls I have for her mum and dad O_o...
So cute! X33 She's just adorable. And I want that dress. I love fur wigs myself. They do get crazy sometimes but they're easy to fix...and I LOVE making them. I just made one last night with a tail! My first add-on I was thinking of making one for this Alex too, but the fur I bought looks more white than blond :\ Aw, now I want to see a family portrait! :<
I'm dying to do a family portrait (though I'm not sure how to style it - everyone has Victorian-like clothing, except for Florie; Florie has medieval clothes, but her children don't), but I need light - with this artificial lighting, nothing looks nice. So it will be for this weekend. Though - well, it's going to be rainy, so I hope there will be enough light even during the day! Boo. I've never tried making my own wigs... This one is probably not the greatest quality, but it will do for now. I like how wild it can look .
The wig looks good to me! 2012 was the Year of the Wig for me. I made my first one on Jan 1 XD and have gone crazy with them since. I hear you on the styling and light. I work all day so I never have light either XD And I've never been good at taking pictures of multiple dolls anyway, so that makes it even harder. And I also feel your pain on clothing. I'm actually getting Alex's "parents" in a state where they can be photographed with his newest young self (the Zihu lol), or any of the others, and historical clothing is not something I have. I'm sort of throwing together things that are somewhat close and hoping for the best. Hair is a pain too. David is wearing a super-long wig atm, and I'm planning on cutting it tonight. Hopefully it works. I may need to break out the boiling-pot.
Photo by daylight (or what passes for it these days :p) - now with wolfish yellow eyes . lovell_01 by severelysigune, on Flickr ...I think I have a new favourite doll format. Narshas are just ideal! I just like the feeling of these dolls too - so solid and nice. Everyone who got back to me about the seams: I can see why they didn't bother you. As far as I am concerned, they are pretty negligeable. My Alex's seams are much worse - not so negligeable :/.
@Sigune, don't you just love their hands? It's a shame my hobby table is all cluttered up right now, other wise I'd take mine out and start playing right now, just by seeing your Lovell. I will probably clean it all up and play later on, though!
*[E]*, I absolutely *adore* their hands, and their feet too - I think of them as Gu Mi-Jeong's trademarks . I don't know how common this is in BJD owners, but hands and feet are really of major importance to me. When I hesitated between a BID/KID and a Narsha, the hands and feet made the choice a lot easier. And handling your Narsha hybrids at the meeting convinced me entirely :P. They are so darling! I'm so glad I have my own now . More spam, this time of Lovell and his (her? still haven't decided) mum, Florie: I'm happy that those yellow eyes look good in him/her. I did get them specifically for Lovell, but I tried them in almost all my other dolls just for fun, and they looked terrible in everyone. They were a bit creepy, to be honest. I'm not sure why, because Florie has the same, only with high domes, and there is nothing creepy about that pair of eyes. In any case, for the wolfling they are excellent. - Do we have a Narsha photo thread yet? *goes looking* ETA: Box opening...
They look so good together!! The wig looks really good with Lovell's face up. I'm in love with this size too. I keep playing with mine lol They're just so nice! They're really like the Zaoll body, just smaller. I looked earlier but couldn't find a photo thread. We should start one. I already have several pics to post!
I had taking new photos of my Narsha prior to Christmas and was playing with her photos. So this is actually my Narsha art. I am thinking of getting another Narsha but don't want to get the same sculpt. Actually thinking of Shabee or Sleepy Narsha. Does anyone have a photo of these?
She's so cute morelle! I'm actually thinking of buying a Narsha head myself. I think the larger eyes will work better in my group. I love the Zihu to death though, so I'm not sure about switching....but either way I can just stick the extra head in the head box, so no harm will be done! I would like to see more Narsha photos...I went through the database but it's pretty small....
Thank you!! I really do like Zihu too. But I also love the sleeping head as well as Shabee. But also I was thinking of mixing it up a bit and getting an Iplehouse KID which is the same size as Narsha. What to do? What to do? I love her!! Thanks for sharing her photo! Shabee is on my want list.
She's adorable! So sweet! I got the Narsha head....I hope it gets here quickly, I can't wait to compare them...
Did you order your Narsha head directly through Dollmore? I was looking for the link and can't find it. I was thinking of getting the sleeping or Shabee head.
I got mine off the MP, but here is the link to it on DM, which would have been my second choice. All doll parts are under Dollmore Doll for some reason XD so it makes it less than easy to locate anything. Shabee doesn't seem to be an option, but if you want one I would at least ask them if they'll sell it. I've bought things from them before that aren't available, so it's possible!
Thanks for the link!! A little late because I couldn't help myself!! I just got back from my local doll shop and ordered a blank Shabee. YAY!! (the whole doll) But for sure I will get the sleeping head Narsha. Shabee is welcome here? Thank you so much for the "enabling". Like I need it!! I think you are totally on the mark auntbear. OK on my wish list is the sleeping Narsha and an IH KID!! My news years resolution?
of course, shabee is considered a narsha. she is actually a narsha friend technically on dollmore's site but they share the same body so it's all good. i have yet to understand why zihu got listed as a narsha instead of a narsha friend when she came out after shabee and coco? if anyone can explain that one to me, i'd love to know the reasoning behind that. oh and if you need any more enabling, if you were thinking of getting your kid in light brown or dark skin they are on sale till jan 15th AND you can put them on 2 month layaway. duck over to the kid thread for more info (lighter skin colors not on sale)
I can't find it auntie. Please help. When I go to the kid thread and click on the one that I want It doesn't give the a light brown or dark skin option for resin color. Are you talking about the peach gold and the special real skin resin colors?
you have to go to the custom doll systom to get the dark colors. (that's why they are on sale normally cds is way more than regular but right now they are the same price) then you can pick the darker colors if you need layaway here is the link and to keep this on topic. here is a close up of my darling ellyce ellyce by onebluestocking, on Flickr
Oh. OK. I'm off to see. Thanks so much auntie. Will let you know how I make out. And thanks for the heads up!!
Is that Shabee? I just ordered a blank Shabee. on that other issue. I'm undecided about the resin color. Might go with ebony. Will keep you posted.
yes ellyce is a shabee. i think you'll like her, i have one this size and one in a dear doll size too (and you should come join us on this thread too. i have an light brown coming there )
I have always loved Shabee. I saw her in my local doll shop a couple years back but never took the plunge, until now. I got her blank and will ship her out for a face up when she comes home. I ordered some Narsha clothing from DM, can't wait to get them! Oh and I took your enabling advise and ordered an ebony KID Joy. OMG!! I don't think I have ever seen one in Ebony. She will be unique for sure. Now I'm off to find the DoA IH KID thread.
I generally stick with who I know auntbear. So right now, I will probably go with who has an opening first. Currently I have two out, Angel Toast has my DC baby and Lilygami has one of my Volks. I am waiting for forevervirginia to have a slot open. Lilygami did my Narsha, so I will have someone different do my Shabee.
morelle ~ congrats on your new orders!! I can't wait to see them! Ok, here's my guess. Shabee and Coco are both sculpts that were remade into the Dear Doll line, so I think maybe they were sculpted by Dollmore for the Narsha body. They're listed as "friends" because the heads at least, are technically not Narshas. Narsha and Zihu are brothers/sisters and both are listed as sculpted by Gu mi-jeong. I have no way of knowing if that's right or not, but it's the only thing I could think of. I'm hoping my head shows up today, or Wednesday. I'm off tomorrow, so today would be best! But I don't actually know when it shipped -interlude- so I just tracked it and it's out for delivery!!! I will get it today!!
I love her face up! I'm doing mine now....almost finished. It's like, 20° here though, so I don't know how long it will last XD I really like the Zihu face, but I think I'm going to keep the Narsha head. It looks more like my other dolls....
the shading on her face is beautiful, it makes her so lifelike! temperature/humidity is a factor so often in when i can do faceups. my fan exhausts through the window on my paint booth so it has to be warm enough to open the window without freezing the house!
Yeah I spray outside, so it really should be nicer. If I'm doing someone elses faceup I won't do it in this kind of weather :P But for mine, if it gets ruined the only one hurt is me! lol Here he is with his new head! This is pretty much the same faceup the Zihu has and it looks so different on the Narsha head! Eyes are still too dark, but 14s will be easier to buy in the right color than the 10s I had in the other head (and again, I'm just glad I had blue eyes to use, period XD). I think this one looks more like his younger self. I'm actually pretty amazed at the amount of clothing I've found that fits this little guy. And shoes! I think I just need to buy the boots from DM and a couple outfits and he'll have a large wardrobe! I wish they sold more separates...or that Iple sold clothes in the style I want.
Hello! I've wanted a Narsha or Shabee for over a year and all these pics are really tempting me to break my New Year's resolution (no doll purchases this year) Can someone please tell me if the bodies are double jointed? I had a Narsha hybrid a few years back that wasn't but new pictures look different --- Thanks!!!
my narsha/shabee is a couple of years old so she would be the same as what you had. i don't know about the newer ones. maybe someone else can speak to that. vampireangel your guy is looking really good! it is amazing how a sculpt can change the look of a faceup and vice versa
Mine is single jointed, but I don't really know how old it is. I would guess there is only the one body, only because it looks and is constructed so much like the Zaoll body (right down to the wonky knees lol), and there was never an update for that. And the old photos of the Narsha look just like the one I have. I don't mind single joints...I generally prefer solid single joints to badly made double joints. auntbear ~ Thanks! I know...I especially love putting different (yet oddly similar) faceups on the same mold. Actually I have the same faceup on different molds too! O.o It brings them all together nicely!
it's so much more fun than having only one face option for each mold like in "typical" collectors dolls!
bajib, my Lovell is second-hand, but according to the seller she was made in 2012. She's very definitely single-jointed. I don't think Gu Mi-Jeong does double joints - Alex is a more recent sculpt and he's single-jointed too. Haha VA13 and auntbear, I'm one of those people (I dunno - are we few or many?) who get sorely tempted (and likely to give in to that temptation too) to get two heads for each character so as to have two different face-ups/looks to choose from. So far (but I know VA13 is watching me to see if I can stick to that principle) I have not bought bodies for those extra heads, but nevertheless - I keep saying I have x number of dolls (and that number frightens me already), but the discrepancy between that number and an actual *head count* keeps increasing . It's funny - the Narshas look more ... friendly? ... to me than the Zihus. Zihu is more distant, I think. So yes, I definitely think that is an entirely different Alex you have there, VA13. He's more cuddly!
i personally don't like having floating heads, but i know lots of people who do, so you have lots of company this may sound really strange, but the first time i saw zihu i thought she looked like a child with down syndrome. since i have two handicapped children (though not downs) i have wanted her ever since to make her into a character with downs in honor of them. most of the custom faceups i've seen just make her/him look oriental but that is what i would want mine to be.
Narsha by elizabeth's*whimsies, on Flickr Did I show my repainted Narsha? I had Mo of Mo's Digital Pencil re-do her face for me and I like her a lot more now.
She is SOOO pretty, Elizabeth. Mo did a fantastic job on her - as usual. She will be doing my IH PG Efreet when she arrives. Here's a bit of Zihu love: I have some new eyes I want to give her, but just haven't had the time to play with her since the holiday rush. See more of Zihu HERE: http://www.flickr.com/photos/swmchick/sets/72157631452483996/
Thanks for the double joint info --- I finally realized that the Shabees I saw with double joints are on the dear Doll body --- duh
