Dollmore Kid Discussion Thread Part 1

Ok, so Nana helped me name my Pado, she's now Temperance! I really love that name for my grumpy tempered girl, LOL. Now I think I've come up with a name for my Rafel. She's always reminding me of a friend from the mid-east (Persian) who has blond hair ... so I'm thinking a popular name in the mid-east is Jasmine, and it's my favorite flower, favorite scent and favorite tea My only problem is that it's quite a commen name around here, but it is awful pretty, so I think Rafel will be named Jasmine. what do you all think?

I just wanted to tell you guys that I have ordered Vannilla her cat brother now. Vanilla`s age is 8. He is going to be her big brother and 10 years old. I have found the perfect name for him. Pepper, hehe=^^=. I ordered him with Dollpire hands and brown cat ears and some kinda brownish grey fur hair and animal eyes. He is a Normalskin Kid Dollmore Boy - Rafel. They fit even better together as siblings than a suntan boy would. It`s a bit sad but I decided to not go for the suntan boy because of the Dollpire hands. It was a very big deal to me about those DP hands But that does not mean I will not get a suntan boy at all. I actually will, but just not for a while. And I do have a character for my future suntan boy planned allready. He is going to be Vanilla`s and Pepper`s little troublemaker friend who loves to play tricks on others And his name is going to be Chase. So there will be a suntan boy in my dollie family to. But right now I can not wait to get home my little Pepper

Hi! has anyone tried Iplehouse JID shoes on a dm kid? I noticed that for some reason the boy JIDs have huge feet compared to the girls.....The length looks like it might be too long on a boys but too snug on a girls and I don't know about the width......but at the same time the shoes might work anyway. They're not that far off.

 

manabusama, congratulations! Wow, that was faster than I thought it'd be for you! LOL. They're gonna be so cute together!!

skyealloway, the JID boy's feet are about 1/8" or...what? 3mm? longer than DM kid feet, and about the same width. IH boy shoes should fit DM kids very well. However, the girls have the same size feet as slim minis, such as Unoa, Minifee, etc... so their shoes won't fit. I do find that some DM boots can look OK on IH girls because they're chunkier looking. Hope that helped?

 

It did go pretty fast. I was thinking I had to save up first for her brother because I had a A3 scanner I needed to buy and a drawingtablet to my computer. But then I found out that I could not wait any longer, and the scanner and drawing tablet could wait. It was more important to me getting her brother than getting those 2 things. I downloaded paint.net. I feel like I can use that a while longer even though I gotta do the drawing with the tip of my finger on the touchpad on my laptop. The day before I ordered I had been looking a lot at NS Rafel boy. And then I looked back at Vanilla who were sitting next to me. Suddenly I understood that they were meant for eachoter. They were meant to be siblings. Even Vanilla wanted him to be her older brother. She pointed at him and said "when is my brother coming home" hehe. I did not only order him because I just had to get her a brother, like fast. But it just felt so right. And I started loving him immediately

Hope in the future Dollmore will make some suntanned vampires and release suntanned Dollpire hands as well. The suntanned Vian boy I was originally going to order would not fit together with Vanilla at all I realized. He would not have looked like a cat without the Dollpire hands. And with that I started to loose interest.

I still can't find the perfect shoes for my girl. I want her to have, like, fantasy boots, lord of teh rings ranger, or dungeons and dragons fighter, just some general "I live out in the wild and can take care of myself". Turns out those are really hard to find

Let`s see.. I did the order 2010-08-06. So it is not so long ago. Isn`t it so that waiting time from you do a doll order from Dollmore is pretty fast compared to other companies. I halfway remember waiting only about 3 weeks for my Vanilla or something. I was surprised how fast it got shipped.

 

I need baggy jeans for my Adian, Besides dollmore where can I purchase a pair??

I'm all about the wide leg or flare leg jeans. ^_^ You don't really see dolls in bootcuts or flares or wide legs thou. Just cargos, straight leg, and skinny is what I see.

Speaking of pants thou, I commissioned Marshpants to make some brown leather pants for my Torrie. Whoot pants!

Manabusama, congrats on finally deciding on your DM boy. I'm biased towards Vian of course, but it is important to get what you really want. I know you will love your Rafael boy. My tan Vian, Sosuke, grows on me more everyday. At first I felt unsure about whether I should have ordered him, but I'm glad that I did.

I'm sorry if I asked this, or someone else asked this, but how much do these dolls weigh? I know a lot of the 60-70cm dolls are pretty weighty, but what about these guys? (I know that they're not 60cm)

Also, the writer in me is trying to create a character for the one I'm saving for, and I'm not sure about the age range they're supposed to represent. Are they more like 8-9, or 11-12?

 

This is GREAT to know, since I'm going to ask for the same eyes/wig she has in the online pics

 

nini nice outfit! Is it suppose to be a reproduction of a historical outfit? (like how people put thier dolls in kimonos all the time, but the kimonos are often a bit modernized)

bulletsBANQ - Actually its one pic per post, or supposed to be. ^^' Alot of people in here dont seem to mind more pics though as long as the thread isnt flooded with them. Thanks! I am loving the new eyes. All the others Iv tried for him were too dark or not the right color...x.x.. Alot of people for a while thought his eyes were black! I know! I cant believe its been that long. I get attatched really easy, and he is my first doll. So he isnt going anywhere.

I dont know if you guys still remember my Kid Dollmore Girl - Sweet Wind Memory ASHA, Memory.



She have been under my bed for long over a half year because I could not bond with her. I was going to sell her. Just waited for the girl to save up money for her. She is no longer interested in my Asha, so I thought of giving my Asha girl a new chance. I`m a bit mad she did not even tell me she had lost the interest So I waited and waited...

A fresh start. Giving her a new name and character. From to day of she will be known as the Japanese kitten girl Ichigo. Best friend of Vanilla and her older brother Pepper. I will buy her new clothes and shoes that matches more the clothes that Vanilla and Pepper wears. I will get her WS Dollpire hands and dark cat ears. She will either have black fur hair or some fur hair with a little bit pink in.

 

You are Welcome Foxxian!! He is in awesome condtion for being an 05. I need to take pics of him in his wig that I got him. He has blond spikey hair. The only problem is that his lower leg comes out and gets twisted for some reason. I am going to have to restring him some time in the future.

You should take pics of him mfitsu7504! I know Id love to see. ^^ I love seeing other aidans, they always look so different! That seems to be normal actually for dollmore legs. My Kiyori's legs get all twisted and weird also, its just something with how they are. I restrung him and everything and it still does it. I have no idea why.

 

I'm soooo sorry I've been gone! Right now I'm trying to think up an idea for a photoshoot with Hiero but I might just do a random one... Not sure.

 

skyealloway I have a good feeling that this time I will be able to bond with her I thought to my self that a WS kitten girl would actually have been quite cool. Went straight away to Dollmore`s website and found fur hair, shoes, outfit, cat ears and hands and saved it to my wish list. I will order it for Ichigo as soon as I can. I am very exited to see her turn into a completly new girl Haha I never thought I would end up with 3 DM kid cats. Before I know it I will end up with cats everywhere all over my room

Today I just notised that there is a new girl on the Norwegian BJD forum I am a member of, that have gotten interested in buying my Asha girl. I think she might have been trying to reach me on the forum for a while. But I have not been on that forum for a while either. And before I saw her message I ended up keeping my Asha girl. It was actually right before I wrote that first post here on this thread that I understood I did not want to sell her anymore. I am glad I did not see her message when she first replied on my sales thread. Then I would have probably sold her to the girl because at that time I had still no plans of keeping my Asha and she was still in her box under my bed. Aug 05 was when she gave me a reply on the sales thread. But I am sad for her also that I had to tell her the doll is no longer for sale.

 

Oh man... there's a GORGEOUS Pado FS in the MP. I wish I could afford him ;3;

Writerm: I agree with BulletsBANQ. Its your character, so you decide. My boy is 14 and I know others have made theirs older. Its all about how you dress+make them up to look :3 and they're very light-weight

OMGOSH Vanilla`s brother Pepper (NS Rafel) Have been shipped allready. That is really fast Aaah I`m so happy. Dollmore is the one company of all the BJD companies I order from that I order most from. So I`m a BIG gold member Is that the reason why they shipped so fast. I have never had a doll being shipped that fast from Dollmore before, even though they always ship pretty fast compared to other BJD companies. Haha Dollmore rules Yay Pepper is coming home.

It's been a while since I've been here ^^;
I was planning on doing some more bonding with Bayani over the summer, but I ended up going to Korea for a month instead ><

He's just been neglected since I got back, so I figured that Bayani might as well go to someone who'll be able to give him the attention he deserves :]

 

As my mom is now going to order the doll for me (yay!), I have a few more in-depth questions:

1) What does inside the head look like?

2) Do they arrive with eyes inside the head?

3) How long is the general wait for one with a default face-up?

Like, we recently ordered a mini-tripod for my camera, and it took 2 weeks to get here - we had thought it would never come, and that they took our $2. But when we got it, it said it went through customs.

 

Writerm:
1) Wish I had pictures to explain. I believe the newer dolls all come with magnets instead of the older system of s-hook+headcap hook (or however you can describe it). Not sure what you really want to know about the inside of the head though.

2) They arrive with the eyes of your choice already in their head, wigged, and wearing underwear. I would recommend changing out the putty though with something better, like Macks Silicone Earplugs. Their stuff is kinda nasty (to me anyway) and I've read of other people saying it cracked their acrylic eyes after a while. I just think its easier to replace it than to deal with it when it comes to changing eyes.

3) I ordered D with a custom face up and he arrived in about 3 weeks, though it really depends on things like how many orders are going on and the weather. The general wait time though is between 2-3 weeks, I believe.

A little picture of my two cats together. Haha Vians sure have big eyes. I decided since they look so different in the face, they are going to be two different races of cats. Pepper came home so fast. I did not even expect the mail man to deliver him on the door today. So I got quite a surprise

 

I wanted to see the inside of the head for the set-up. Like you mentioned, captnklaus, to see if it is held on with an S-hook or the magnets. I don't want an accident to happen, and I have to learn how to restring on day one.

 

Have you gotten to see the inside of the head yet. If not I can show you.



This is inside of a head with the s-hook. As you can see the s-hook is attatched to the string that goes through both the legs and all the way up to the head. The top of the head (headcap) is attatched to the s-hook to keep the head in place. The black things that you see is her eyes. The eyes is staying in place with some eye clay.



And this is a doll with magnetic headcap. the s-hook is staying in place down in the neck hole.



The magnetic head cap is really easy to take on and off. The headcaps with out the magnets are also pretty easy to take of. At least I think

I think the head cap S hook design is a pain in the behind....x.x... I struggled to get mine off. Both of my dolls came with the old design, hooks attatched to the headcap. Pinched my fingers several times trying to get them off. So I left the s hook sitting in the neck instead of putting it back when I changed there eyes the last time. Just used a bit of tap to keep the headcap from calling off.

 

The lady I had tighten Torrie's stringing said her headcap was the hardest to get off, in her experience.

And here's a inside-head shot from Mischa's box-opening. I think his head is about 3/4 years ago,
so I dont know how much they've changed the head system. And he has detachable ears ;3

 

I really love making different characters for these cat kids. I have 2 more cat characters I would love to have. Which means I will end up with 5 DM kids cats in all. I have so gotten into this My next up will then be NS Vian boy. So Vanilla will have her twin brother like I planed originally a long time ago. He will have exactly same eyes and hair as Vanilla have now. And his name will be Snow. Pepper I found out is to different from Vanilla, so he will either be her boyfriend or best best friend. He is no longer her brother. And the next one there again will be a very cute and feminine pink cat boy. Name I have not thought about yet. And I thought for that Kid Dollmore Boy - Cecile would have been perfect.




Vanilla have white eyes now. I like it better. And it is prettier on her. The other cat eyes only made her look like a very little child. And a little bit to much cat for me. So then NS Vian boy will be next
