Dollmore Kid Discussion Thread Part 1

Jun 4, 2005

1. I've done a search, and found some wonderful pics of Asha. I've ordered her, because I think she's wonderful. But of course I don't have any other MSDs. Can anyone tell me if her shoe size is a normal MSD size? Someone mentioned that her hands and feet are larger than a standard MSD, so I'm not sure if MSD shoes will fit. Also, will she fit in any Tonner clothing? Any advice is helpful!

2. I don't know about Tonner, i haven't tried it with my asha, but her feet are a tiny bit bigger than regular MSDs. i tried Xylina's shoes on her (MSD Nasia) and her toes poked into the leatherette in the front.
For clothes, I have some good news. There is a doll with patterns by McCalls, and they fit perfectly!!! The only thing i could see is they may be a tiny, tiny bit too short, but asha's are so slim, they fit everywhere else, no prob!! Hope that helps!!

p.s.- here is a pic of her in the doll patterned capris so you can see what i mean.

3. I'm glad someone else has joined the Asha clan; it seems like she's starting to catch on, since I couldn't find anyone on here who had her before I ordered...^^ Anyways, I also ordered from Lemonday. I have no bad to say, really. The only problem is that when I ordered, her head was in stock but her body was not. It sounded like they had a late shipment. I asked when to expect her, and Jee assured me she'd send a tracking number as soon as she sent her, which she did. It took about a week or under for them to get her in stock and have her to me. ^^ And I got crackers, ha ha!

Shoes, I've had a bit of a problem with. I ordered a set of MSD sized knee-high boots and little black and white cleats (sp? Soccer shoes. o.o ) from Ebay. The cleats fit her just fine, but the boots were just too tight around her ankle; or, more specifically, the widest spot when her foot was extended, directly above her heel. I loved how they looked once they were on, but taking them off was a hassle and pulled her foot right out! x_X So they had to go to save her elastic and my sanity. ^^;

The soccer shoes are DOD (I've found them since on the DOD website), so it's likely that shoes from them will continue to fit. I'm still wary of boots, since the laces on the shoes is what makes them easy to fit. Regardless, I'd love to find some decent boots in her size.. I'll let you know as soon as I find some. =)

I also sew and haven't purchased any clothes for her, so I can't be of much help there.. ^^ I'd love to post pics of the clothes I've made for her and such, but I lost my camera at A-Kon this weekend ;_; All my pretty dollie pictures...

Be sure to post lots of your girl when you get her!!

4. Well, clothes don't seem to be as much of a problem as shoes. I am finding no shoes for her, except the ones at Dollmore, while cute, are just too going-to-Sunday-school-ish for me. I'd like SHOES, darn it! The ones at Souldoll, which I wanted to buy, measure a tiny bit smaller than I measure her foot, so for $35, I don't want to take a chance. Anyone tried SoulDoll mini shoes on her yet? There are only a couple of us with Asha, so there's not a lot of info... Anyone know of shoe makers other than the obvious ones? This is a HUGE gap in the BJD market! Someone should take advantage of it and produce shoes for these kids! I want to make sandals, but haven't gotten around to it. It's on my "list" of projects. Yup...lots of those! Anyway, if you come across shoes that fit, please post and let us know. I'm tempted to go look at Target, Toys R Us and the only doll shop in my area, and bring a measuring tape with me...who knows what I might find! :daisy

5. Anyone have any new info on clothes and shoes for Asha? I recently got mine and she NEEDS something cute to wear! I really like the Gothic Lolita styles and I am going to try making some things by altering Betsy McCall patterns (when I can get to JoAnn's for some), but, in the mean time, any more leads on shoes besides a MaryJane Style? Has anyone tried to make their own shoes? If so, could you point me to some instructions? Any info on GothLoli clothing patterns for Asha would be appreciated, too!

Thanks!

6. The thing about Asha is that her head and feet really are big. speaking of heads though, I am completely spoiled by the Serendipity head that has the Faceplate held on with magnets! Back to Asha, I ordered clothes from Dollmore but I did it through Hyon, so she made sure to let me know if things would fit.

7. First, reduce the 18 in pattern, using a copier, to around 70-75 percent. Then start trying to fit it.
The 18 inch dolls the patterns are aimed at are about as big around as the 24 inch dolls size, not Our 16-18 inch minis.
wotta pain.

8. My Angel Region shoes fit my Asha.

9. I have made two dresses from the Betsy McCall pattern. On the first dress (black and pink), the top was too small...I mean, it does fit, but it did not overlap in the back so that I could sew on snaps, so I used hook and eyes. On the second dress (Hello Kitty), I extended the back flaps so there was enough overlap for snaps. No other alterations on this dress other than you might want to make it a bit longer. I used trims and slips to get the lengths I wanted. I might try the capris next and see what kind of alterations they need...I'd like to make them into pants.

10. Well, I decided to take my chances and ordered some MSD size DollHeart shoes and they fit! I was a bit nervous since they are kind of expensive, but after seeing them in person...they are sooooo worth it! They offer reasonable shipping cost and fast service. I :aheartbea DollHeart shoes!

If you want to see Ivy's new shoes, I put a couple pics in the Gallery:

I don't recall seeing a Dollmore Kid discussion thread in the mini section either. Good for you for starting one. I know there is a Dollmore Kid owners thread in the Database:

http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27543

I own one Dollmore kid-- Momo. He has been with me for about 18 months and I rather like him. Funny thing is that my husband really likes him! DH doesn't give a hoot about my other bjds, but he likes Momo. (They like to watch sports together!)

I find the DM body well constructed and solid. The resin is nice, and Momo is not at all kicky. He stands and sits well. As far as his face-- I find it adorable. Here are a couple of pics:

12. Bring this thread back to life!

Has anyone seen this cutie yet?
http://www.dollmore.net/shop/step1.php?number=5636

I really want to get her and mod her to be a boy :fangirl: (I also want him to have an older brother, a Dollmore Adien. . .)

How tall is a dollmore boy compared to a girl?

13. Not having any girls, I can't say. My Sho next to a MNF is about 3/4 inch taller. That any help?

14. Hi all,

I'm not sure if I have posted on the right thread but I would like to hear some opinions/experiences in restringing our lovely kids. >.< I think it will be a great learning ground for dollmore kid owner ;)

I have been observing my boy (Pado)'s string system and realise I might face difficulty with the feet and the hook if I were to re-string my boy.

I have try pulling to see if the ball socket at the feet but to found it attached to the feet, and the hook in the feet seem difficult for the elastic string to be remove or hook back. D:

Hope to hear some advise/guidance/suggestion and many Thanks in advance n_n

15. Hi!

I love the Dollmore Kids and have two Momos - Leona (natural) and Jinx (tan).

Dollmore did both of the face-ups.

16. pacific --- Your girls are so beautiful! I love DM Momos too!

Here is my DM Momo-- his name is Woo and he definitely one of my favorites in my crew.

18. zekarmisama>> Congrat for your dollmore Aidan. Look forward to see your new crew pictures ;)

Dolliful & Zekarmisa>> I have ask dollmore abt the restringing esp the legs (see image below) Seem like my boys ball socket is stuck to the foot thus the mission impossible to restring the leg part...

Is your dollmore kid's ball socket attached to their feets? or as the picture below, dettachable.. > <

Pictures are all credited to Dollmore.net

Pacific rin>> Your momo(s) are really adorable >//<

19. The ballsocket is detachable for me.

Muniya is such a cutie.

Haven't tried restringing her yet. It's weird. Her ankles feel loose compared to the rest of her.

20. Thanks for the reply ;) T^T This means that I have to go figure out: "how should i make the ball socket dettachable" ;A;
Meanwhile still waiting for dollmore to reply

22. I agree. Your Pado looks considerably happier than most Pados. He's definitely happier than mine! XD

Woo! I didn't know we had a Dollmore kid discussion thread! It's great to see all these new looks and suntans! I've had my U-jee Marcus running on three years this January. He's on the old dollmore kid body, but he's still the best at posing out of all my dolls. :)

24. My Aiden's headcap isn't magnetic. It's... a giant pain in the butt. .>_>

25. No worries, it within topic ;)

My boy (dollmore kid) head cap is magnetic but seriously I don't really like it as it forces the one side of the magnet out of the head cap... In the end it our hero "blue tac" that does the job....

26. sailorstarsun>> Thanks! >///< Hope you can get a pado soon!! ;)

Vitasoy>> Your boy is cute too <3

27. Bought my former Pado and my Issac Direct from Dollmore and both are magnetic. My issac's head is magnetic and also is "S" hooked (and that was the real pain in the butt!) The S hook headcaps are real tight (excellent for keeping everything together - a pain if you change eyes often).

Most of the KDMs though come with the "S" hook option but arent hooked, just magnetically shut.

28. thanks everybody, i probabably won't change his eyes too often

29. I suddenly noticed that Muniya's head has "Aiden" engraved on the inside.

The inside of her head is so rough compared to my Dollzone Megi's.

30. I have a Suntan Asha and am eying the Suntan Momo and/ or the Suntan Pado. I love how adorbale DMs faces are!

The only thing that drives me crazy sometimes is Lillith's bubble butt... she's got quite a booty for an MSD!

31. With restringing... I restrung my pado a month or two ago and it was very easy, even though it was my first time restringing any dolls. : D

Though I'm not sure what's up with your dolls feet as my ball joint at the ankle separates from the leg and the foot when I stretch out the elastic, making the feet easily removable.

>:

My boy has magnets and an S-hook in his headcap, but I don't bother with the s-hook usually as it makes it more of a hassle to remove his headcap and I'm too lazy. Dx

And his headcap has 'Pado' engraved on it. So all of them must have the names engraved. : D

32. I'm currently saving up for a Kid Dollmore Boy - Ciel.
I really really love this mould! ;3;

33. Roztastic>> Thanks for sharing with us abt the restring ;)
I have manage my way out with the feet.. it seem that the glue that is used to secure the hook to the feet have also stick the ball socket together with the feet thus i couldn't separate the ball socket and the feet. <-- need some twisting before the ball socket came out

Now, with the bal socket and feet separated, restringing would be the similar to my other boys restringing system ;)

34. Skitsofrenika>> I agree Ciel is really lovely mold! ;A; He was release after i brought my pado, clash in cashflow...

Hi guys, want to share some picture of dollmore hands which arrive a few day ago XD
They are really nice ;)

Promise hand and victory/peace hand
[IMG]

35. The peace hand looks so cute.

I wanted to get the pinky-promise hand, but them Muniya has no one to pinky-promise with... >_<' My one regret about a tan doll... optional hands are too much trouble!

36. Aww, those hands are so cute! ..especially the pinky one, it made me giggle X3

37. I love a kid from Dollmore too!!
I have Kid dollmore Girl Torrie. She so cute♥♥♥
and now I am falling in love with Flocke >_<

38. Gorgeous!! :o

He makes me think of a young Cloud (from Final Fantasy).
Except.....

not angry! :sweat

39. I want a Suntan Asha so bad. T.T Then when I was browsing the forums I read that it was hard to take of the headcaps and wanted to hop in and see what the case here was. I currently have a MNF Shushu and it's SO EASY to take off her head for face-ups that I guess I hadn't thought about it.

Even if the headcaps are easier to take off now because of the magnets... are the heads still hard to remove? I want to give my suntanned girl a face-up myself and I tend to re-do face-ups often... And how do you take off their heads, anyway?

40. i never found it hard to remove, even compared to the other companies i've messed with. i love my suntan asha:aheartbea they are a beautiful color and they pose amazingly easy in fact i love her so much i'm thinking about getting another dollmore girl to keep her company ;)

41. Hi dambuster01, I have a Suntan Momo and can give you my take on her. FIrst of all, I have always loved the Momo face, and always wanted a Tan MSD, so there you go! However, I thought her eye makeup was atrocious, like a little child prostitute, so I removed it!!! Her eyelids do have a subtle bit of pink sheen to them, but no glitter, or scuffing on face or nose - could be camera glare? Her lips are a natural pink - I am undecided whether or not to change them. Now the resin! She is not as darkly terra cotta coloured as the promo pics show. I would say more caramel-y, tawny, like a Hawaiian or Polynesian girl. When I first took her out of box I thought she was plastic! Yesss! I was very disappointed. She is slick and not as matte as other tans look, like Hound or Lishe. She is also a lot lighter in weight than my Soulkid Tiffee. I miss that heavy feeling resin. Also think the red eyes she came with were tooo large and I replaced them with smaller dark brown ones. Then I almost put her up for sale .... but that little face! I took her out of her box and put a light caramel wig by Sewaddictd on her and she blossomed! She looks so cute I can't stand it - my little Hot Cocoa Girl! She poses beautifully, but watch out for those knee joints - they pop out! Her hands are exquisite and her gestures are so sweet. Am currently "doing her colours" to see what is most flattering with that tawny skin - cream, yellow, pale green etc. She is definitely a keeper. Hope I have enabled you!

42. Thanks so much Tangier, I really appreciate you taking the time to give me your opinion of the tanned Momo. Well I did go ahead and order her a couple of days ago...I couldn't wait for any responses, I'm so impatient....and am looking forward to her coming. I decided to forgo the face up and do it myself, I really enjoy doing faceups on tanned dolls....(I've only done two tanned ones, but it was fun), I just didn't like the shimmery look that Dollmore have in their promotional photos. I've asked for blue eyes and a dark blond wig, so I shall see what I get. If not then I have a few wigs I can try out on her.
I'm glad you've warned me on how she feels, I'm prepared. As for the shiney resin, I've found that if you give them a rub over with one of those Magic Sponge thingys, it takes that shine off, so I shall probably try that. I do love the face and the profile is just so sweet. I see her as a real outdoorsy type of girl and she'll fit in well here as we visit the beach often! I shall have to take photos of her there.
Thanks again, I appreciate all the info! I'll be sure to 'spam' her when she arrives.

43. I'm saving up for a dollmore kid myself now! I can't wait till I have enough money..someday XP
I love all the pics, all those momos and pados are gorgeous!

44. My lovely tanned Momo arrived last week and at the weekend I did her faceup. I'm no artist by a long shot, but I'm quite pleased with how she has turned out....perhaps I overdid the blush a bit but what's done is done and I can't undo it without removing the lot, so she will have to be an 'outdoorsy' sort of girl....or perhaps she just enjoys sunbathing!!! Here are some photos of her, they are large, but hope you enjoy....!

45. I haven't got any dolls yet. But I was hoping to get the suntan Pado or the Momo boy dolls. Do they need a lot of work or are they fine the way they are? Any advice on what to do? From what i've read should I order with or without Make-up. And how do you do the make-up if i order it without?

46. If you love the doll shown with the faceup, then it's worth the money to order with the faceup. If you want to have a go at doing your own face, check out the customising section on here for loads of tips on doing a faceup http://www.denofangels.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=15

Sharon - your Momo is lovely, and just the right colour for life in Spain (although if I were in Spain I'd be bright red not tanned )

47. Hey, I have a question about the dollmore bodies. I wonna make an unoa hybrid and I think the dollmore body is really cute.
How pose-able is it?
And does it fit into slim MSD clothes (like unoa and narae) or is it more MSD sized?

Thanks in advance ;)

48. I think my DM boy Momo has a good sturdy body. He is solid and can hold a pose -- no problem. When the opportunity presented itself to acquired a DM female body, I grabbed it --but this one is different, she has double jointed elbows and lovely hands, and funny knees.

I am having some issues with her knees popping out of place. I have restrung and sueded the body and that has helped- but I may have to resort to wiring. Has anyone encountered this knee situation?

Here are a couple of pics of her with a MNF head (Woosoo).

Suggestions please.

49. How does the MNF head fit? Is it okay or is the neck too big or small?

50. I love seeing these pictures of Suntan Momo. I think she's a fabulous doll.

Here's another picture of mine - I went with Dollmore's default and absolutely love the face-up. I think she looks very exotic, a bit like a Persian cat.

I also find her very versatile.

51. I would say that she is a bit 'fatter' than the slim MSDs like Unoa and Narae, but she is not as wide as, say, the Volks MSDs. I'll try to take a comparison photo at some point, with my other MSDs.

I think she poses really well, those double jointed elbows are great.

52. She's lovely! She looks much nicer than the default faceup shown on the Dollmore site. And yes, very exotic, like an orchid!

53. Thanks Kayjay, I'm really happy with Momo, she is such a sweetie!

54. Aww thanks for the helpful advise!
Can't wait for more pictures ^^

55. Thanks for the help:)

56. My sister's new dollmore ciel. It's a girl, but she looks boyish. I did this faceup, but I'm redoing it later to make it more girly. Anyway, if anyone was interested, leeke and dollmore resin matches.

57. I have been in LOVE with Kid Dollmore Girl Miro since the first time i saw her, and i have been arguing with myself about getting her as my first doll.

I haven't seen any of them around the forum. I agree, she is a bit exotic and maybe that's why no one seems to own her. :)

But i was wondering if i should order with the seams sanded? Personally, i think seams would bother me so i would go with paying an extra 65$, but are the seams that noticeable on that Dollmore body?

Also, is Dollmore good with sticking to requests? I don't want to end up with red eyes...

And i am just a bit curious but, what do you think the special christmas event surprise is? A head? A wig? :D

58. I didn't notice any seams on my friend or sister's dolls.
And I asked dollmore for brown or gold eyes and a grey or white wig to go with my sister's doll and they sent light brown eyes and a grey wig.
For the christmas gift we got an msd wig, shirt, parasol and teddy bear.

59. Thank you for the quick answer! :D
Those are really nice items!

I'm a such a procrastinator, though, Christmas event is ending in, well, it's ending today and I've been getting my shopping cart ready all week, but never clicked check out yet... arrgh. X3

60. I have to agree with DeathButterfly, my suntanned Momo doesn't have any noticable seams either.
I requested blue eyes and blond wig and got exactly that!
They also sent me a dreadful pale lime green wig as a present, it is so sparse of hair that the 'scalp' shows through at the sides....but I guess it is the thought that counts!!!!
