Dollmore Kid discussion part 4

I just never thought about asking as I got the impression Dollmore like to do things a certain way when it comes to their resin colors. Most companies have a list of available colors, available for every doll in the dropdown meny. While Dollmore does not.

But I guess it does not hurt to ask.

 

I'm still thinking about getting a ballet kid doll as I listen to "The Nutcracker" soundtrack. (Getting into the Christmas spirit a bit early) I think "At the Garnier Cora" is very pretty...

 

Gonna be giving my Dollmore Kid Doppel Asha a makeover.
I love Dollmore Kid dolls so i'm not sure why i haven't posted on here before

Has anyone got Roo, Luen, Geoul or Heizle?
I only ever see the old dollmore kids around and i'm super interested in getting some of the new ones.

 

Dollmore Kids hold a special place in my heart too, but I miss some of the older sculpts. Would have been so cool if they could have made a re-release of the older sculpts someday.

@KittyOrochimaru I love the Asha sculpt. Your girl look so pretty even without a faceup I managed to find Rosee Asha on the MP a while ago. Because of her it's been a bit tempting to get Torrie as well. But my current Dollmore Kids plans is to get a sleepy eyes boy Pado and open eyes girl Pado twin pair, and I do need a tanned sculpt as well.

There should still be some room left on my Dollmore Kid shelf so hopefully there should not be any problem to order a few more.

@IngieBee Your girls is adorable Pado is one of my favourite sculpts too so I'm really looking forward to get one someday.

I noticed that the Joshua sculpt is gone from the website! Does anyone know when they stopped producing it? I'm always so curious as to how many people actually have that sculpt because I feel like I'm the only one.

I got her in 2009, and so she's been with me for a long time. I love this sculpt so much.

 

Oh, she's so cute, and I love her warm cozy jacket, scarf and beanie, she looks fantastic!!

I'm going to add another picture of my Rafel 'cause I just adore her (also Pado, but Rafel is getting attention at the moment )

 

Your girl is so cute Not that other Dollmore Kid sculpts do not have smiling faces, but I think her smiling face stand out in a different way. She's a sculpt that I have looked at many times myself. Although it never got past just looking at her official pictures, I got really dissappointedto see her go.

I feel she's among some of the sculpts that should not be discontinued no matter what. Like the Eve Lilis Liv sculpt.

I know Lilis Liv got discontinued then brought back because of customer demand. If Dollmore oneday decide to bring back Joshua, I think I might just have to get her!

 

I really hope that day comes for you! It really is such a great sculpt. I'm so glad I got her when I did.

ROFLMAO, I can't remember names... I have to look her up, as I did get her long enough ago to give her one.... Oh yah! It's Jasmine! LOL Now a days, I don't name my dolls, they keep their sculpt name. Though I have a few with strange sculpt names from Fairyland that I need to give proper names. I'm a sad sad person with no imagination. I've decided that my dolls have no unique personalities, they're just reflections of me, even the boys. I fear it's an autistic trait and I'm trying to see something more, come up with personalities but I find it very hard and have as of yet failed, though a couple of them do have my sister's personality. More confident organized and commanding. But that's it so far, I need to flush out more "other" personalities, and I'm trying to do it via DnD game play but it's not working. ROFL. I will continue to work on this throughout my life, as I think it'd be a fantastic growing experience But yah, terrible at names!

And here is Pado, it's her turn now

Oh, and her name is Temperance , and I can't believe i came up with such a perfect name for her! She is a bit of a picky stubborn thing (like me) LOL

 

It would be nice if it did, but I don't exactly have high hopes. Joshua is a cool sculpt for a heavy freckled red headed boy or girl I think. I know I would have gotten a girl if it got re-released. I did have her on my wish list on and off on my Dollmore account for a while. It was a sculpt that I really liked but at the same time also really wondered if I needed. But now that it is discontinued, and have been for a couple of years, I have some regrets why I did not just order her

I just did not imagine that this sculpt would be discontinued. I thought it would be like Miro and Lilis Liv, sculpts that so far have seemed to have a permanent place at Dollmore's company.

There are a few sculpts that I think I would get if they were re-released and that's Joshua for sure, then Calvin U-jee and maybe Isaac.

At least I got Aidan and Renee before they were discontinued. My current plans though is to oneday get a half closed eyes boy Pado and an open eyes girl Pado. That's what I'm trying to focus on, but I have no idea when I'll be getting them.

 

Speaking of Pado, my dollmore order came in today (it shipped SO quick) i got the yellowed WS Pado head.

I'm in looove.

No, no order yet as I have to focus on trying my best to be able to order IH KID Esi. I were also actually supposed to order my SDF65 Bliss his slender body first, something I've completely forgotten about because of Esi.

It seems once again that things that I want to do in my hobby get delayed. You know how it all is. You want to do A but B happens

I really could need a ws and tanned kid also. And I want twin Pados! I'm going to end up with so many, but I guess it can't be helped when you really love Dollmore

 

Ah gosh, I've always been a doll more kid fan but at the moment only have one. I'm waiting on Aidan twins and now I have a pado head..

Yay for more Aidan twins Love seeing the older sculpts Haha it's really difficult to own just one of these. I have an own shelf for my Dollmore Kids, and as long as there is still room on it for some more (which it is) I'm not done!

I gotta do some photoshoots, but I've been both lazy and busy cleaning house. But hopefully soon!

 

Getting another Ballet Kid still tempts me, but I have to be careful with my purchases now. I'm trying to keep a nice balance in my room, I don't want my room to end up looking like I'm a doll hoarder.

I still have more room for dolls but I've come to a point where I carefully have to select my next purchases. Any doll I order, there have to be a really good reason behind. I don't order dolls anymore just because they are a limited edition release or because I really like how they look. For me to order any new dolls now (limited or not) they have to belong somewhere with my current dolls. They have to have some kind of meaning other than just being a beautiful piece of art. Like being someones sibling, child, friend, lover, girlfriend or boyfriend etc.

But I'm really feeling the struggle right now, whether it's a Ballet Kid or a regular Kid, I feel so ready to get another one. Gotta be strong though, now is not the time

 

I'm actually trying to not get the Dollpire Hazy Roo - i keep going back to look at her but that body looks so different compared to the kid one. I'm not sure if i like or hate it.
I'd just love more dollmore dolls tbh. I keep eyeing up Luen, Geoul, Sona and Suntan Vian.

It's very pretty but not everybody likes it because it is very difficult to deal with. Or so some have said. Mine is very kicky, even the upper body parts are all over the place. But then again, mine really needs a re-stringing and sueding so I do not have any experience with her re-stringed and sueded. Maybe the body will be better then?

But also there are people who probably really like it, so it might all come down to whether or not you have enough experience with the body, something I do not have yet.

 

I think if she's there still in a couple of months I might have to! (Lockdown in the UK i don't wanna risk shipping stuff arm) Really interesting looking body.
Is it any taller than the kid body or the same?

Waiting for the weather to get better so I can do faceups for the Pado and Asha. Itching to get them done!

 

According to Dollmores site Hazy Roo and the Dollmore Kid girl both measure 43.5cm tall with the head. But The Judith body is a bit slimmer built than the Kid body.

I don't mind the Judith body at all. I think it's beautiful, I've just been lazy getting her re-stringed and sueded. I don't have a Judith doll but I have a Catish Reaa and they have the Judith body. I might even get another Catish oneday, I really like them.

 

I've finally done an order but it were a Dollpire Boy Deadliness Scar Shiloh. Never had a Shiloh, I feel so excited

I've had some unexpected changes in my plans. For so long I've wanted a Pado, I meant to get a sleepy eyes boy and open eyes girl Pado twin pair. But one picture I stumbled upon while searching for Dollmore doll pictures changed everything.

It was the Flocke sculpt, a sculpt that I from time to time found cute but never really thought much of.

In an instant Flocke became my new favourite. I'm still thinking of going for a twin pair oneday. I can still do the sleepy eyes boy and open eyes girl twin pair thing, but only with the Flocke sculpt.

This is actually good though, as then I'll be able to go for a tanned Pado boy in the future. I still yet have to get at least one kid that is tanned into my Dollmore Kid collection.

But anyways "Dollpire Boy Deadliness Scar Shiloh" were the one I choose to order this time, as I've delayed for far to long getting a Dollpire Kid. And there weren't many left of him so I could not take any chances with waiting any longer.

(I'm going to end up with a whole army of Dollmore Kids But I don't mind as they are amazing Never have any other BJD brand been as addictive to me as the Dollmore dolls XD)

Ahh congrats! There are alot of the Limited dollmore kids/dollpire i like. It's just i don't do default faceups so i'd feel bad buying one to wipe the faceup if you get me? T_T

I also want a dollmore kid army, even selling a few of my SD's so i can hopefully find some to join.
I am interested in the suntan vian but honestly i might see if they release one of the new sculpts in tan - or ask them because oof

 

Thanks I would like more tanned sculpts too. But more I wish that Dollmore could do like most other companies does and have a dropdown meny where at least both ns and tanned is offered. Being able to choose tanned for any basic sculpt you like would have been nice.

And about an army, I will at least have room for a small army of Dollmore Kids. My Dollmore Kids have their own shelf.

 

Am I wrong remembering back in the mid 2000 that they used to offer tan as an option all the time? I seem to remember that it was nice that they did back then and wondered why everyone didn't offer tan. It was before I learned that tan can be difficult to produce??

Hello! Can I please request pictures of any of your dolls with 12mm or 14mm with small iris? I have regular 14s in my tan momo right now but the iris seems kinda big and I'm thinking of changing it up.

 

Finally gave most of my dolls a temp faceup (also don't worry, down the line they'll get more freckled on the body - looks a little weird huh) still got my Pado to faceup (She needs a body too but shh)

Also @Jextia i'm pretty sure one of my Aidan's has dollmore 12mm eyes in, though Aidan's have quite small eye size anyway.

I have a wakness for ginger characters with really heavy freckles. I just don't have any at the moment but do plan to turn my ns IH SID Omar into a really freckled ginger. Your 3 kids look amazing. I think Aidans are the coolest Dollmore Kids ever made

Ah, yes they are I don't really have any favourite Dollmore Kid sculpts as I like all Dollmore sculpts. But there are some that I feel more attached to like Aidan and Flocke.

I miss the old Dollmore sculpts that were discontinued. There's something about old school sculpts, makes me feel a bit nostalgic..

Let's ressurect this board with a photo of my newly repainted VERY old secondhand Torrie.
She was made in 2007 so her white skin has mellowed a lot. It almost looks flesh toned now.

Her original faceup was very yellow toned so was doing her no favours. She also had damaged eyes and lashes.
So a fresh set of both and a nice fresh face and she's looking a lot softer and less irritated.

 

@purple_monkfish She certainly looks lovely and refreshed now. It’s wonderful to see an update on an old favorite. As the years go by in this hobby, our dolls remain beautiful works of art, especially with a little care and tweaking.

 

Dollmore are doing lucky boxes, heads for half price till April 30th.

Pretty nice deal, though it's a gamble. I think like.. 1/14 chance of getting any particular head? They only list 14 different ones.

I'd LOVE Heizel but of course, there's only that 1/14 chance.

I wonder if you buy multiple if they'd bother to make sure you didn't get duplicates.

Anyway, thought you might all want to know. Anyone else got any dollmore kid heads they've been eyeing?

 

I thought about it but honestly there's a few i know i wouldn't like and dollmore heads are hard to sell as is in my opinion so i think if i was really interested i'd pay extra to get the ones i'd want.
Not only that it says you can't choose the color, that would be hard seeing as they don't sell bodies separately in WS and Tan D:

 

that's kinda wierd that they don't sell the bodies in the other colours. I wonder why not.

And yeah, there's a few I do like but i'm thinking i'm probably better off waiting and just ordering the ones I want for full price lol.
Has anyone successfully hybridded a dollmore head onto a different body? I'm not overly keen on their male bodies, they're a bit too curvy and just look like they modified the existing female body.

My Rosee Asha She's so yellowed but I really like her this way as it makes it feel as if she's got another kind of Dollmore resin color. She have the old single jointed body with a hook system inside her head instead of magnets. So happy I found this girl for sale

 

@manabusama It’s always a treat to see some of the oldies in this thread. Yellowed or not, they maintain their artistry and beauty…and it’s a lovely look back at some earlier days in the hobby. Older dolls are still every bit a treasure! Your girl is absolutely adorable.

 

I remember the day when this thread were much more active, I miss how it used to be around here. But I'm glad to see that the thread are not completely dead though.

I only have Dollmore Kids but there is something about the kid line that have stuck with me although I did have 2 SDs in the past. It's hard to say what makes them so special, they just are

Just ordered the Moon Spirit Elf Zinna head with a boy Roo face-up, since I wanted to make them a boy. Hoping it won't be too much of a problem putting that head on a boy body. Crossing my fingers it'll be fine

He'll have to borrow a yellowed boy Dollmore body for a while but I guess it's better than nothing

She look great with that look Is she very yellowed irl? My old Asha is pretty yellowed and I wonder myself maybe I should get her de-yellowed a bit someday.

 

Oh very much so. She was white skin originally so would have been paper white. Now she's more of a magnolia colour? Like a really pale NS without the pink tones. I suspect you could actually blush this to a NS looking colour pretty easily by adding some pink in the important spots.
I have her other ears and they're white white so it's quite shocking when you see the two pieces side by side.

I found her on the MP though so I've never seen her other than pretty yellowed. But it's not a bad yellow I guess, so like you said, maybe a little bit of blushing is all it takes!

 

Yep she's one of the Wind Memory? dolls. I have all four of them but she was in the worst state, her faceup was SO faded the poor girl needed a new one.

I might redo her lips at some point. Make them a bit darker and more lipsticky. I dunno. I haven't decided whether i'm keeping her or not honestly. I keep flip flopping on it. Terrible right?
