Still waiting until I can get a face-up on mine - and for that, I have to wait until the second head arrives so I can send them together! But I've made some progress in making my girl her dress! Not much to show yet unfortunately, just getting the pattern right, but I'll take photos when it's done!

Just wondering, will the Dollmore 16 inch FMD scale with Iplehouse FIDs? Thanks

 

Oh, absolutely they will~ They are both in the 40-45cm range.

 

For me, the Iplehouse FID are too big, bigger heads and they're quite tall. The FMDs have a wig size of 4/5 and the Iplehouse girls have 5/6, and at that scale, to me, it's just too much. Here is a picture I just took where both dolls are seated. The body is not Dollmore, so it's best to compare just the heads. Of course, I like all sizes together so this wouldn't bother me at all, but a lot of people want their dolls to really fit together and I just thought you should know in case that's how you feel (sorry for the crapy picture, my Eya just came out of her bag, LOL



The Iplehouse boys are even bigger with size 6/7 wigs and closer to 50cm (maybe 48-50cm)

 

Lol, I was only thinking height range! But yes, head sizes are definitely very different! Thanks for adding that reference, @IngieBee

 

Also, it depends if you want them as adults together or not - I'm putting a FMD head on a different body to look like a teenager next to an FID, and I think that works well. Not sure how the original body would look, though.

 

Yah, I can see that working, though I don't think much over 10 years, but very cute I can't wait to order a boy, he'll be on the Dollmore body though. Can't beat those broad shoulders

 

Only 1 more month until I make my last payment for my Sara and Eya's bodies. I'm dying to finish them!!!

 

Well, I've been having the worst day, but I just got a notice from Dollmore saying the head I ordered is being shipped!!! Yay!!!! Weirdly, they say they can't ship quickly by Fedex this time even though they could only 2 months ago so it's going to be slow shipping??? Oh well. As long as it gets here in the end!

 

Oh poop, I know though. EMS is really being poopie heads!! I don't know what their deal is?? At least it's on the way though @morganatron . Gosh it'll be awesome to see a Mika head doll! Spice things up!!! I'm still waiting for my withdoll bodies, I want to get my girls together asap!!!

 

Sorry, took me ages to get around to taking the photo, but here you go: FID boy, Dollmore FMD head on Souldoll general body in the middle, Raccoondoll lady on the end. (She's pretty much the same size as an FID lady so I included her too.)


Please do note she's not on the original FMD body, I don't know how that would look! As I wanted her to look more like a teen I put her on a younger looking body - for me, it works very well, but others might not like it!

Oh yes, and that's the dress I've been making for her that I mentioned earlier, still no face up, but I thought I'd take a picture anyway as I like how she's turning out! I'm making an overgown too so she can have different looks going, I'll take some photos of her on her own once it's done!

 

Wow, she makes a fantastic kid there! Especially that sculpt! Hummm.... LOL

 

OH NOOOOOOO.
My Mika arrived but her head is MUCH smaller than the Thelma and she's not going to work as the hybrid I wanted after all! Here's a picture so you can all see:


...So everything I said earlier about which hybrids work and if they work with FID and Raccoondoll - actually, it looks like it depends on the head sculpt. That's quite a difference there! I'm going to have to turn right around and sell this head, sigh... if only it worked like other shops and I could just swap it at Dollmore for a Thelma head! I think I'm going to have to get another one of them instead to make the doll I wanted. So disappointed!!! Oh well, you take the risk with hybrids, and sometimes it doesn't work out. Never mind!

 

@morganatron OH NO! That's a massive difference! What? Is the neck hole also different? That's a huge difference, but maybe hair would change the size difference? I can say that Sara had a larger head than my Eya, only not THAT big a difference. It might be an option??

I'm still waiting for my withdoll bodies, I really hope they will arrive soon

BTW, that's a beautiful Empire waisted dress, so lovely!

 

Yeah, I know, it's a MASSIVE difference!!! It definitely won't work for me, as they're supposed to be in scale with Raccoondoll and FID - it's just too small! So disappointing. Such a shame because it's a really nice sculpt!

Anyway, here's a picture of the Mika head in profile, in case that's of use to anyone - I know I had a lot of trouble finding any blank pictures, so I hope that's helpful to someone!

 

Oh, it's so sad, she's such a beautiful Asian sculpt it actually looks like the same size as the Chicline doll heads from Fairyland.

 

A bit bigger I think! I mean, I don't own Chicline any more so I can't compare, but from memory Chicline were a bit smaller again? (Could be wrong though!)

Well my withdoll bodies arrived today and I absolutely love them! I love how easy they are to pose especially, they are amazing! I can't decide if the necks are long enough for me to bother with sanding down. I'll see once I try some clothes on I guess. Well, here they are. My Eya's head is smaller than Sara's, but not as much as Mika's??

I'm really happy and surprised at how fast Dollmore ships their dolls. I also ordered a few goodies to come with her, and they even put an extra wig as a freebie
The only downside I can find is that the poseability of the body is very limited, I wish at least the legs were double jointed.

 

Congratulations! That's one of my favorite fullsets to date! Always so glad to see more Thelma love!

 

Thank you! I absolutely love this full set, I'm really impressed with the quality, considering that these dolls are so affordable. I am especially taken by the wig, it's supersoft and absolutely lovely and well made. The pictures on Dollmore website really don't make them justice. I will definitely consider buying some more

Yah, it seems like the forum is a wee bit slower, or maybe it's me, I haven't been posting for a long time. I'm so busy all the time, and my dolls haven't got attention You're making me need the boys I planned... ugh, LOL, money too tight to mention.

 

Aw, yeah it's tough when times are busy and money is tight. What are your plans for potential boys?

 

Unfortunately, I'm not in a position to add to my collection money wise, and honestly space wise as well. I need to work on my dolls, and if need be, I may need to have some of them move on? I don't know yet. I've been busy with health issues, and can't enjoy them at the moment but hope in a year or so, I'll be getting back to fixing everything up the way I want it

Do anyone have the fashion size 16" Jaden doll with face up? I am thinking about getting one. However I have never seen this doll in any photos aside from the website. If anyone has him..could you post a picture of him without clothing? I really would like to see his in IRL face-up. Thanks.

 

I have a Jaden head that I got during the random head discount sale that I was using as a practice head for faceups. I can share an old picture of just the head when I was practicing if you're interested!

 

I really wanted to see his factory face-up.and body blushing. I have never seen this doll outside of the promo pics on the website. I just wanted to see the completed doll IRL photos.. Thank you anyway.

 

Ah I see. I may be able to help with the body blushing part. I have a Chris that I ordered with full blushing. I assume that Dollmore would blush all the dolls the same way other than minor colour differences. I've had him for three years now, so the blushing is chipped in places but it could still give you an idea of how the Fashion M body blushing might look like at least.

Does anyone happen to know if Dollmore's fashion size 16" male dolls would scale with The Broken Maiden's Lucas? (Measurements for Lucas can be found at Lucas & Nue Preorder)

I currently have Lucas, and I'm thinking of using a Dollmore guy to be a taller character, but I don't want the Dollmore guy to look like he's a totally different scale.

 

@Juxtaposition Looking at the measurements, the Broken Maiden's 12cm circumference head might look just sliiiightly too small next to a Dollmore boy. For comparison, here's a photo of the Dollmore boy and girl head sizes. The boy is 13.5cm circumference and the girl is 12.9cm circumference and she already looks a bit tiny next to the boy. It would largely depend on how you plan to style your dolls wig-wise, since a wig can give the illusion of a larger head.

 

Thanks for the photo and info, @Sanar! Seeing the Dollmore girl next to the Dollmore guy and thinking how the Broken Maiden head is even smaller than the Dollmore girl, I'm inclined to agree that the Broken Maiden head might look a tad too small. I really appreciate this info--thank you!

I'm back! Trying to revive a long dead thread!
So - I was very excited about making hybrids back in, uh, 2021, then I wasn't happy with any of the ones I tried, had other dolls I wanted more, sold the heads I had, but now - 3 years later - I've decided I want to have another go! I've rebought two Thelma heads and a Hayon head, and since there isn't any pics for Hayon on here (I think), or a comparison to Thelma, here we go:

They are very similar is size - uh, ignore that I accidentally put one Thelma head in front of the other two - but the weird thing is, despite only ordering them about a month apart, one Thelma head is quite a different colour! The first Thelma and the Hayon have a more yellow tone, but the second head is quite pink? It's not quite clear in the photo, sorry. So that was strange. I'm pretty resigned to it being it difficult to find resin matches for bodies, but this makes it even trickier!

Speaking of - new bodies have come on to the market, and I am quite interested in trying the Huajing Girl Body 4 (or even 5?)! Both have a 6.5cm neck, so the fit would hopefully be right, and they're really cute bodies! Otherwise I'm quite keen on the single join Resinsoul body that was pictured earlier in the thread - the trouble is, Resinsoul have so many bodies now, and most of them aren't listed separately on their website, so I'm really having trouble working out which one! If you're still on here @TasiaChiba - could you tell me which Resinsoul body you got for your girl? It looked so good in the photos!!! But I can't work out what one it is at all!

Anyway - I think I'm going to sell the Hayon head, I don't like it as much in person as I hoped, but I'm going to make the Thelmas into hybrids - and get them face-ups. Once I have more money!

 

@morganatron : Ohhh, I'm absolutely still around, muwahaha! ^_~~ And I got some fun stuff for you! Also, THANK you for that Hayon head image! I have been pining away wishing to buy one but haven't yet, and there are just no images around blank!!! It's definitely officially going on my wish list!~

So, first off, the body I currently have my Thelma on is the Resinsoul Single-Joint female body. Also the "Mei" body. I swapped out the hands for some Ring Doll hands I got a while back, but I've never been happy with them. My biggest complaint with the body has been trying to find in scale mature hands and feet! I've been eying some DF-H hands, but haven't bitten quite yet. Still, she looks adorable and I love her!

However! You mentioned the Huajing Girl body, and dang if I don't have one! I got in one of the 1/4 new Jade girl bodies about two months ago. AND! I. had. not. yet. tried. it. with. this. head! And let me telll youuuuu, I am STUNNED! For the record, it looks incredible with Minifee heads. I currently have my LB Chiwoo elf head taking up residence on it. But when you mentioned Thelma, I just knew I had to try it tonight! Besides, they were both currently sitting beside me, and the timing couldn't have been better. So off with some heads, with a bit of fuss because Huajing shipped their body crazy tiiiight~ The Huajing hands are actually a better size for the Resinsoul body than the Ring Doll ones, so I'm crazy intrigued, but no time for that tonight. Then it was time to take photos and upload so I could share before I pass out for bed, lol!

My assessment: The Huajing body is a perfect, and I mean perfect body for this and similar sized heads with one holdup. The neck joint has a flared top like how Minifee does. This makes the neck just slightly too bulbous. But it is completely unnoticeable with a wig and would be an easy peasy sanding mod. Just a few millimeters off is all that's needed to make this seamless.

What can I say, she looks fabulous! (Aside from her faceup showing those inevitable worn signs~)

OMG you are an absolute superstar!!! I didn't expect anyone to actually HAVE that body to try, this is amazing!!! And oh wow, it really does look so good, doesn't it?! Well. That's just jumped to the top of my wish list! I did really like your pictures of Thelma on the Resinsoul body too, they did look nicely slim and in proportion - but that Huajing body looks so good!!! It's going to be tricky to decide! It looks like such a cute body in the photos and looks like it poses so well - I really think I'm going to have to get one! (At some point. I keep saying I've overspent on dolls this year and then keep spending more. But I really do have to stop sometime!) I mean, I do have two Thelma heads, I suppose I could get one Resinsoul and one Huajing... I'll have to think about that. Sounds like it might be worth ordering extra Huajing hands if I do then, looks like they sell them separately.

EDIT: okay I can't work out which body this is!!! On Alice's collection the three bodies are listed as Version 4, Version 5 (Magnolia) and 1/4 Girl Special Body. I suspect it's called "Jade" elsewhere but I can't find where! I think yours looks like the Version 4 but I could be wrong? Do you have any idea? I mean the leg joints look different on the Special body so I think it has to be either version 4 or 5. So maybe if the 5 says "Magnolia" the 4 is "Jade"? Lol, detective work!!!

 

Absolutely! You're most welcome! I'm just gobsmacked, myself. But not like I need to help you decide anymore buuuuut, this Huajing body is one of the most absolutely fabulous amazing posers right outta the freaking box! It holds insane poses! I had it standing on one foot in an odd angle and I still can't get over it. Albeit, those ankles are slippery, so that was definitely a trial. Only thing I'd say to do would be a quick hot glue suede in the ankles and wrists and you'd be set! And reasonably priced, too~ I'm still a mega fan of Resinsoul, but I love the options this company's bodies also give us!

And, heck, you mentioned getting both... would be a great take on twins with different body shapes, which is such a thing~ And we don't really get to see enough of that in this hobby!

Also, I totally get you on overspending this year, lol! I'm having to be suuuuch a good child now~

 

Ooh it's good to hear the posing is good too. I'm leaning more towards the Huajing body at this point - it's more expensive, but it's free shipping with Alice's Collections, so it probably more or less evens out. I hope? Anyway, that's a problem for the future, sadly - I also kind of don't want to buy anything in case there are amazing new releases or specials at Christmas - from any of the companies I like! So I'll be patient and see what happens. Also I'll have to pay for face-ups for the Thelma heads.

Thank you so much!!! She has a different wig, but I really wanted to try this new one I got on her and I loved it. Especially as I had just put her in some new clothes and when I popped that wig on, I knew I needed to leave it for a bit! She's back on her own body so I figured I'd show how she's dressed. She is absolutely channeling some vibes!

As for the wig, she fits Tonner Grace doll wigs really well! This blonde is a "Farrah Fawcett" wig that Virtual Doll Convention just released. I still need to brush the hair on the one side to get it to lay right, but I LOVE how it looks!! Her clothes (even that pretty purple dress) also came from VDC~

Ooh that's great to know about the wigs - it's hard to find non-childish ones in that size! Love the photo - even more gorgeous retro vibes!!! I'm not sure yet what style I want my Thelmas to have, or what wig colours - or to have them be twins or from different families and just try to get them to look different with different face ups? Eventually I'll work it out and then I can work on actually getting them to be complete dolls!

I finally have one of these beauties! I changed the lip color on her default makeup and fixed some chipped eyeliner, but my new-to-me Yvonne is so pretty! I'm working on her outfit still, and she needs a name and a boyfriend.

She desperately needed hot glue sueding though. Her joints just wanted to spin around! I also wired her arms and it was a good decision.
