Love the wig. Where did you get it? She's just amazingly lovely and is a good work companion. Thank you, Basia. I should have known as it looks like LW all over it. Lovely doll, isn't she? I adore my two.
I got the wig from Denver Doll Emporium. It's a special limited Leeke Wig. I convinced my friend to buy an Alexia too! Hers just arrived yesterday. They are so sweet in person, she was easily won over.
Gorgeous wig, love the colour. Luckyl I made the dress and wig but bought the cardigan and a friend gave me the bear.
Hi. Just checking to see if anyone has found clothing for Alexia? I am working on a basic pattern for her so I can sew her some more clothes, but doesn't seem to be much out there.
I found a few etsy and ebay sellers that have some patterns and clothing for Alexia/Kaye Wiggs MSD size dolls, like this one for example: https://www.etsy.com/listing/216428564/ruffles-in-blue-fits-dollmore-alexia?ref=sr_gallery_1&ga_search_query=dollmore+alexia&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery I have also found some random things identified as made for SD10 size dolls from various sellers around that have worked out. I wish Dollmore would offer more of the lovely limited style outfits they offer with some of their limited Alexia's, but realize that is what makes people shell out over 600.00 for them. Even if they would offer just a few new outfits that are different versions of the limited outifts that would be great. Has anyone noticed the new limited Alexia "Minute Handwriting"? The outfit and face-up/styling is really gorgeous but the name confuses me since it appears this is an Alice in wonderland inspired doll.
I have had luck with clothes made for the original Kaye Wiggs MSD body as long as they aren't tight in the waist and hips. Gracefaerie Designs (http://www.gracefaerie.com/) also has some Alexia patterns.
I have a 27 inch tall massive suitcase filled with their clothes, none of which I have bought. Wee Wardrobe, Michele Hardy, Happy Dog Designs, Wildflower Designs and others. Also, Dollmore says they'll make anything in their line for her, so I got a wonderful black Narsha dress scaled up. But as to another dress that I asked to be copied, no. Almost everything I have is custom-made, sad to say. Or happy, as they do have a fabulous wardrobe!
It takes perseverance, but I totally agree with both of you that there are good finds out there for Alexia, it just takes some time to find exactly what you are looking for. I didn't know Dollmore would occasionally size up Narsha clothes for Alexia. I wonder why they agreed to one and not the other? Who did you contact about the clothing request? Just through the message board?
I contacted Fabric Friends and Dolls and Iris contacted Dollmore with my request. They made her dress quite quickly....and it was perfect. But why DM does what they do is a mystery to me, :-) The hardest thing to find is shoes..pairs of....but I have managed pretty well.
I think you can ask on the message board for special sizes. Someone on the Banji thread had an outfit sized down. For Banji, they said they couldn't do anything with buttons so it may depend on whether trims are available.
I'm sure you can. I happened to see the outfit that I got on Iris's Alexia and asked for the same. But when I asked for another one, they didn't do it. But I'll try again. Of course, I'd have to get another suitcase!
Good to know. Sounds like it is worth trying. I will share what happens when I decide what I want. I bought my Alexia from DDE. I wonder if having a store seller ask them makes a difference?
I'm not sure. FF&D had the DM account first, so I don't know whether they accommodate her requests first or what. I got most of my two Alexia's things from seamstresses here and there.
As already mentioned by others if you ask on the message board they'll either say yes or no. The reason some things are ok to change and some aren't ...is based on the individual designer, some are against changes in size and some are ok with it, so dollmore have a list of things they can change or have to ask the designers if they can change it or not ^_^
Thank you, ma'am. I have an enormous suitcase with their clothes yet, like Flora McFlimsey of Washington Square, they are always saying that they have nothing to wear. And I believe them!
Hi everyone! I've just bought a 2nd hand Alexia, fullset Gretel. I'm so very excited! Hopefully I have some clothes and shoes that fit her from my other 2 msds and sd13. Her fullset has never been taken out of the bags, so I may just sell it, we'll see.
Congrats! I've her in real life and she's gorgeous. She will fit some clothes, but her shoes are a serious problem. You can get her some that are 69 cm, and those will fit and DM has some too.
Thanks, jenthered! I keep wanting to try making shoes for my kiddles. Maybe this fall. I'm busy with my garden from spring til fall.
I hear you. Sometimes, dolls must wait their turns! Well, yes, she will be. She is one of my favorites. I have one with a faceup by DM and one by Jay Searle and they are sisters, Alix and Irina and they have a huge wardrobe...much more clothes than i have.
My girl finally arrived yesterday. She's lovely but it took my husband and me 2 days, off n on, to get her to stand without her knees caving. I guess that's what can happen to a doll that's left in its box for the last few years. She's wearing a dress I crocheted for one of my other msds. Alexia by hookedonirises2000, on Flickr
She's beautiful and i love her dress! you can put silicone kips in her knees or suede them and she'll do much better. I get kips by the bag and then I unstring the lower leg, slide the kip on and up they go! Congratulations!
Thanks, jenthered! I ended up using nexcare tape in her hips and knee joints, so she now stands quite solidly. A bag of kips sounds like a good idea though! Are they all the same size in the bag? Now to figure out some clothes. She's standing with one of my msd's and my SD13. She sure is a big girl!
She's kind of large MSD size, but can wear some Doll Heart clothing. And mine have almost everything custom made. An alarming assortment of stuff. The kips have maybe three for legs and smaller ones for arms. I'd be a bit wary of the tape's residue, so it might not be the most permanent of solutions. Shoes are a pain too...I don't know why I love them so much, but I do. You're gonna really enjoy her! It's a by guess and by golly shoe hunt. But she can wear some SD shoes and some are just too huge. Some of the Monique flats in 69 cms work well for her and they come in pretty colors. It's not an exact science. Plus Dollmore has some shoes for her too. Very expensive, but worth it. Good luck, EI BJD!
I just discovered that my SD13's foot is the same length as Alexia's, although Alexia's is wider. My SD13's 1 pair of shoes and 1 pair of boots fit Alexia, and Alexia's shoes fit my SD13. The socks she came with fit over my SD socks pattern too. While I'm on a roll, I should go hunt down another pair of shoes and some kips.
I just bought an Alex I've been eyeing them for years, and finally nabbed one on the marketplace. Should be here Monday. Oh, much excite! Sent from my XT1049 using Tapatalk
That is so exciting! You will for sure love her. one of my favorite dolls, and the most spoiled of them all. Oh great! So glad that you got the kips. Do string them as they work better for Alexia. I'm glad that you got her shoes and air fresheners, LOL! I have Ravens ones for a smaller doll, but they were huge on her, so I tried them on Alix and Irina and there you are. I have two Alexias, Alix with the DM faceup and Irina with a Jay Searle one. She was a birthday gift from my husband a few years ago. They are so much fun!
Congrats to you, MissEmily! My Alexia just arrived on Monday! Jenthered, I managed to find 3 sizes of kips on Etsy! Plus a lovely pair of black Dollmore Alex shoes on ebay! I don't know if any of you have see those runners that are sold as air fresheners for cars. I bought 2 red ones for my male Minifee Karsh a while back but they also fit Alexia! I don't have pix of them as yet though.
Here's my Lexie (only name she'll answer to!), wearing a white pineapple dress that I crocheted using embroidery floss, for one of my msd girls a few years back. I used the top of a dress pattern and an old doily pattern for the skirt. Lexie in Pineapple Dress by hookedonirises2000, on Flickr
And here she is in a sock dress and a knitted shrug that I made for my SD13. She insisted on wearing those air freshener runners I was telling you about. lol Her wig keeps slipping backwards and falling off, even though she has the wig cap on. I'm thinking about cutting it a bit shorter. Lexie in Sock Dress w runners1 by hookedonirises2000, on Flickr
HE'S HERE! Oh, my. He's not at all shaping up to be what I expected, but I'm loving where he's headed. ALSO, huge bonus--he arrived sueded. Not hot-glue sueded. But really truly pliver sueded! He stands like a champ! Dollmore Alex arrives and straightaway steals everything from everyone. He's a wild thing, this one. Oh, I'm sure he'll be spoiled rotten! And that dress is SO CUTE! Great work on it!
Knitted Lexie her own shrug to go with her overalls. One day, I'll have decent backdrops for my big kids. :O New Shrug Lexie2 by hookedonirises2000, on Flickr
MissEmily, your Alex's headgear is amazing! Is he a cannibal? No seriously, I have no trouble believing he is a bit wild. He certainly rocks the wig! Oh El BJD, you are such a deft hand with hooks, needles and yarn XD! I have been trying to knit for my dolls, but I am too amateurish to be able to manage without patterns, and even then I need to pick up some techniques :p. I love Lexie's ensembles! I'm popping in to share a picture of my siblings, Hänsel and Gretel. Since El was kind enough to sell Lexie's Gretel clothes to me, I have turned my Alexia into Hänsel's sister. There was nice light today, so I put out a bench for them to sit on, and they promptly started telling each other secrets... Hänsel is the most horrible, horrible stander in my doll household, whereas Alexia is one of the most solid standers I have. Hmph. But I'd forgive Hänsel anything. He's too cute.
Ha! No he's not a cannibal As for standing, I think your Hansel just wants more attention Sent from my XT1049 using Tapatalk
MissEmily, I would be more inclined to believe that explanation if I hadn't noticed a difference in the construction of their knees ... As you can tell by his colour, Alex is a few years older than Alexia, and it seems like the knees have been adapted in the meantime. Alexia's have little ridges that keep them from buckling.
I was gonna take some photos with my real camera.... But I locked myself out of the room with the SD cards. Ha! So, poor Maximillian the Great had to content himself with more phone pics. Sent from my XT1049 using Tapatalk
I've never been tempted by this doll before but the new circus girl is amazing! I love her outfit and make-up! She's pretty pricey though and my doll funds have run dry. But I'm sure she'll be available for a long while
Just keep a watch are how many are left. There is always layaway. She does have amazing makeup! I like dolls that versatility, so I'm thinking about what other outfits she could wear. A masked ball outfit would be one possibility.
I was going to say, layaway is your friend. I love the costume, but I'd rather have it for the Alexia I already own.
I agree, Melody. Don't like that faceup but love the costume. And layaway is always possible with Dollmore's dolls.
I just paid first payment of layaway for Minute Handwriting Alexia (one with rabbit ears). This will be my first doll, and I still can't believe that this is happening. I wanted to thank you, because I didn't know that Dollmore accepts layaway until I read it here few days ago. If you are willing to post pictures of your beauties please do so to help me get through this waiting period, sadly there aren't so many pictures of these doll on the internet...
hi @nancy_schroeder_ca - how can you tell how many are left? I've totally fallen in love with the circus Alex... I've never noticed her before - but wow - she's stunning! And I love everything about this faceup edit - I just ordered and paid! They're going to be at Dolls Rendez-Vous in Paris on my birthday so I can collect her then!
Picking up a doll in person is so much fun! The closest I have gotten with a BJD is picking up an Elfdoll at Elfdoll USA when they had a shop in California.
Dollmore Alexia/Annessa, looking for her lambs. I told her the are in the nursery, waiting for her. annessa_unicorn by Melody Martin, on Flickr
I picked up Annabeth from Dolls Rendezvous yesterday and from the second I saw her knew I'd made the right desicion. She is AMAZING!!!!!! Love love love her. (she has odd eyes at the moment, as I'm trying to see what ones suit her best )
She is gorgeous! I like the size of the right (her left) eye. I even prefer the color but I think purple eyes would be great for her!
Hey guys I'm new to this forum I ve been looking at all your pictures like crazy because Im waiting on a Dollmore Alexia myself. I could not resist the red haired version that just came out. She looks so real, like a real girl. I want to put some glasses on her. I will be sure to post some pics when she gets here. Awesome pics and congrats valee.anne on your new girl. I love the silver eyes.
Congrats on your incoming Alexia! Mine is having some teen angst after misplacing her cell phone! Teen Angst by hookedonirises2000, on Flickr
Thank you! And beautiful girl. I love how that knitted sweater looks on her. She looks so real. I love her wig too.
Thanks, Elizabeth! My girl was the Gretel version. While I do knit, this lovely pale lavender sweater was sent to me by a dear friend.
