http://www.dollmore.net/shop/step1.php?number=8743 That is the direct link to the girl. http://www.denofangels.com/forums/s...re-Alex-Doll-(by-Gu-mi-jeong)-Alex-and-Alexia That is the News Thread. I just went to look at this doll, and the body is just adorable! The funny thing (love Dollmore) is that they say "MSD clothing is too small, SD too large, so proper fit clothing will be released. At sometime" That is paraphrased, BTW. If you ordered her or him though, you might want to order doll and clothes together, yeah? Really nice doll though, going right on The List. I love the face.
Isn't she sweet? I love the cute chubby baby body. It's funny but the boy faceup looks more femme than the girls.
I agree, the girl's make-up makes the sculpt look masculine for some reason and the guy's more feminine. Maybe it's the lips? Chubby body is cute and the sculpt is beautiful, wish the eyes were bigger though Xd
I like their face and their bodies.. such interesting! I don't like MSD size.. but this could be a good compromise to fit this girl with my only MSD PD Roseanne.. She could be her older sister ..(not in the real bg of the pg ) I like like like.. but I find the prices soo much high!!! I could buy a Luv for the same price.. and she's on my wish too.. and she is near to an SD (SD lover...)
I'm absolutely in love with the girl Definitely going on the wishlist. I really love the smaller eyes and more babyish body, I think she'd fit in perfectly with my larger dolls as a little kid sister! I love that Gu Mi-Jeong doesn't try to conform to the standard BJD sizes, it makes for really interesting and unique dolls! Although they're hell to dress XD I might have to try my hand at sewing!
I want one. I automatically feel I should get the boy, cause generally I like boy dolls better, but I'm leaning toward the girl to avoid the bizarre confusion of another doll named Alex. I am curious to see how they look with other dolls...especially MSD sized.
Yeah, I like the unusual size and shape of her as well. Gu Mi-Jeong does love those off sizes, she must be trying to promote creativity lol. VampireAngel13 isn't it weird how the name of a sculpt can influence your choices? What cracks me up is Dollmore's saying "Clothes will be released sooner or later". Hilarious. They are really good though about having things available for the "off" sizes. And there's always commissions. Your sewing machine. Or socks.
Oh yes lol I think they did just to assure that I would buy one. I especially loved the email. Early in the morning and I'm going "why is Dollmore emailing me about my doll out of nowhere??" I had to read it twice before I realized what I was seeing. *sigh* Good thing I'd stopped for coffee on the way to work. I hope they sell the outfits they're wearing. I wish they'd sell both the girl and boy's outfits for their SD sized dolls...Those poor things are so neglected when it comes to clothes. The boy looks like he's wearing Anotherspace.... and Weird. I just lost the site! like this very second...I wonder what I did XD
I lost it too. There was some message about them transfering to a new server. I think I am in big trouble. I told myself no more MSDs and then Dollmore has to do this to me. I kept going to look at her all morning. I love my Narshas and Alexia seems like she is built like Narsha. I love her body. It looks like it would be very sturdy and easy to pose, unlike my Leeke girls. I think she will have to go on my wishlist.
She's immediately gone to the top of my wishlist, and savings fund (currently $0..) although I think I would get her without faceup and get a younger faceup done so she can represent a younger child. I love her body, the hands are amazing like Narsha's are, and the chubby legs etc are just perfect I want, no.. I NEED
I wasn't expecting to like this girl, but OMG, as many of you, she's now at the top of my want list! I won't be able to even begin to think about getting her till summer though looks like she'll come up to the shoulders of the Zaoll, if anyone else is curious.
OMGosh I actually was going to get Dollmore Eve Lilis Liv. I wanted 1 special girl doll that I could call my little princess and decorate my bed with. And then Dollmore come with these amazing dolls. I allready have a Lilis Liv at home. I think that now 1 Lilis Liv is enough. I also must think about how many dolls I want in my room. I am really interested in that Alexia girl. She would have been such a sweet princess But I think I want to see her with some clothes and shoes from dollmore first that fits her. If I`m gonna get her I`ll ask dollmore to do a face-up more suited for a little child.
Whoa, I didn't notice their price until now @___@; It's double what the DMKs are and they're only a few cm's taller! XD; But still, this is definitely a doll that'll grow on me, I know it >w< I love the faces, and I LOVE the chubbiness on the girl doll! SO nice to see that instead of the usual so-very-skinny MSD body. I'm still curious though, since the boy's body has yet to grow on me as much, would their heads fit on DMK bodies? Regardless, I can't WAIT to see some owner pics of these beauties, hopefully whoever gets them will also have a DMK for some comparison shots xD
I won't be buying one of these kids but I like them! They actually look like pretty porportionate 10-11 year olds which is nice. I'd like to see one next to an SD to see how they look.
Oh dear! BEAUTIFUL! I'm in love!!! I can't wait to see owner pics Somebody please order this doll soon and post pictures!!!!
Beautiful face, very sweet and lovely I think. Not something I would own but I definitely look forward to seeing pictures in the Gallery in the future. Too bad about the wardrobe being an odd size though.
The heads are really nice - but I'm not digging the bodies. They just look too chubby to fit their faces, which aren't proportionally chubby to the bodies.
lol I wouldn't stress over the wardrobe too much...They got their clothes for those Dear Dolls out fast. I do loooove that they sell clothes for tinies now, my little boy looks adorable in them I'm with Knibitz, I want one but I have at least one doll on my list that takes precedence first, so it might be a while. But I'm still dying for pictures!!
There is a good chance I`ll end up ordering the girl when I have enough money for her. Hopefully soon. I have sold some of my old dolls lately so maybe I am not to far away from ordering the girl (if decide I want to). I am very curious how her body is to handle and how it is to have a lil chubby doll. Oh haha she is stealing my Lilis Liv place on my wish list
Oh, I lovelovelove the body! So cute and chubby... I think she might be the first doll I buy once my year of BJD abstinence is over. *glances at signature* Oh my, it's going to be a long wait!
I love the boy!! I wish they had MSD size feet though... won't it look odd that they have child size and proportions next to an SD but the same size shoes? Maybe thats just me... haha
I'm not much of an MSD size doll person, but I adore both of them, especially the girl. So cute! Why am I already making up a story for her. @_@
When I saw them pop in my email I felt doomed. I've been looking for a suitable son for my Dollshe DSAM Saint (who is about 74cm) and a regular MSD is just short for him. Maybe the few extra cms and the chubby body will help with proportions. I also love the sad face and small eyes Uhm, decisions, decisions.
EEEEeeeee thier legs are like so pudgy! I effin love it! LOVE. I won't be buying one...the head mold isn't my style, and I don't love it enough to expand my collection beyond what it currently is. BUT THOSE LEGS. DO WANT. I want to see some owner pics of her in shorts, for sure ~_^ (I don't know why I have a thing for stumpy and/or pudgy legs, but I went nuts for the BF Shiny fairies too for pretty much the same reason @_@)
Y^Y I reallllly love alex! There's nothing childish at all about how their eyes are sculpted, just the bodies. Fascinating
Ooh maybe that's why I like them! I love the hands as well. Oh, and Dollmore said the feet are between MSD and SD size.
Thank you for starting the discussion thread Stella. I opened the email Dollmore sent me today and was so excited and impressed since this doll is by the same maker as my Zaoll and Narsha. They are two of my favorite dolls. I love Dollmore's resin, the painting is lovely, and I love companies that offer a sanding service. I told my husband that I "am in love" with this doll. I love the chubby body and the facial expression. Since she (yes, I would get the girl) is 46 cm, I compared her to Kaye Wiggs MSD dolls and Dollstown 7-year body. Nyssa/Mikki Kaye Wiggs Chest 19cm Waist 15.5cm Hips 20.5cm Dollstown Chest 18cm Waist 15.7cm Hips 21 cm Alexa Chest 19cm Waist 19cm Hips 22cm I bought a few Dollstown dolls to have models similar to Kaye Wiggs, since they are popular for sewing and knitting now. I was not sure if Kaye would release any more and I did not want to pay the high prices on ebay for Nyssa. And, frankly, I just fell in love with DT's heads. I think Alexia would fit in perfectly with this new size of MSD doll that more companies are coming out with. You get a nice size body, not too big, and a very childlike look that is so fun to dress. She is on my list. I want to get her before the free shipping offer ends. I don't want to order too early as I will be out of town for a while. I know Dollmore is very good about holding orders though. Well I have to order Layla by Kaye Wiggs and this one in the same month. Oh my! And I told my dear hubby I was not getting any more dolls this year. Well, since they will be arriving in 2011, maybe I can get away with it!
Dollmore is fantastic to buy from, you are right you can't go wrong with them. And yes I agree with your "they are coming next year, therefore they are next years dolls " logic. KW doesn't appear to be slowing down, I've been buying her dolls for four years now. They hold their value BTW. The sculptor of this doll is very talented, and her dolls don't seem to suffer for being off size. And you have to get one, who else is going to offer gorgeous handknits for them? I love the realistic body type, thanks for that comparison, that is very helpful.
Thought some might be interested... Gu Mi-Jeong posted some pictures of the original LaDoll sculpture for Alex on Flickr... Head/Hands here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/qpito/5250599950/ And Full body here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/qpito/5249996863/
I want the girl I want the girl I WANT the girl dollmore is definitely the best bjd company I have ever bought from.
Lovely faces but I think they look older than the bodies which is a bit weird. Also the legs are pretty chunky and that makes them look sort of disproportionate (to me, at least) :C
I'm absolutely in love with Alex. He will make it to the serious want - wishlist soon, hands down. But as much as I like his face, I'm sure I'd like him even better on a Dollstown body.
LOL. It's the legs that made me fall in love with these kids. I come from a long line of women with really thick, muscular legs, so I was excited to see a doll body that is shaped like I was as a kid.
Yeah, I think the body is really great, and it looks very realistic to me. I think this is really a great doll.
I love the 'blank' photos on Flickr, I think Dollmore's heavy faceup - although beautiful - is masking the beauty of the sculpt quite a bit
Hey Lotte Rotten *hugs*......haven't seen you for ages!!!......... I have ordered and paid for Alex girl..... I just couldn't resist that body...... I am getting her 'blank' so I'll do my own face-up etc....I'll be posting lots of piccies..... Cheers! xen
Congrats Xen, I think she'll fit in really well with your other girls. Could I ask a favour that when you receive her, you post a pic of her before you start the faceup, I'd like to see her in her 'naked' state. If it's not too much trouble, thanks
Oh, that is good news Xen! I will be anxiously watching for her arrival. These are the first dolls that have really interested me since Dollstown. I would love to see how she blends with your group.
xen that is great To see someone elses Alex girl will make it easier for me to choose what I want to do. I am stuck between choosing Eve Lilis Liv and Alexia. Lilis Liv have been a must have doll for me for so long but so is Alexia now. So I have a very hard decission to make.
Oh boy xen, can't wait to see you photos. manabusama, that is a hard decision, as they are very different dolls.
I just discovered this girl and she has moved to the top of my list - can't wait to see owner pics - please post a lot a lot of pictures xen -
Funny enough, I don't like the girl sculpt at all, but the boy is adorable!! SOOOO cute! He's chubby little thing! My wishlist is already nearing critical mass- it never seems to get any smaller, and I've already brought three dream dolls home =__= I do love those unique sizes and sculpts that aren't the usual aesthetic- this boy would be a perfect addition to my collection if my wallet would cooperate... I just bought a Hosoo though and I promised myself no more dollies until I get a job D:<
Hello everyone ! I love the girl... but I don't like chubby childish bodies... (it IS adorable... just not the style of doll I want) So I'm wondering if I could put that head on another body... I can hardly imagine the size though, so I guess I'll have to wait for some owner pictures...
I just ordered this doll also. I am tired of the same ol thing and she is delightfully different! I can't wait
They are both adorable, I love their chubby little legs! I'm fond of the usual shape of my Zaoll and these cuties are even rounder! I have some must haves I'm saving for but I may need an Alex instead of a Narsha for sure. I can't wait to see owner photos!
I'm ordering an Alex girl, maybe/hopefully today at a more reasonable time than 2am I LOVE HER!! She's so different and what it was that really drew me in are her hands, such beautiful detail *ohmygosh* But I'm so sad that there aren't any clothes or shoes for them yet!! I've been searching for a doll that made me go *must have* and oddly enough I've been lurking @dollmore the past few weeks because I've heard they are really quick to ship (yep I needed a fast dolly fix!) but I haven't looked since they were released it seems and now here she is! Can anyone tell me how is it to order custom faceup from dollmore? I'm not sure I'll do it but I'm curious about the experiences people have had, if any. Also: does dollmore pierce ears?
You know, chubby little darling that she is, I wonder how Alex will look in outfits made for the uber-popular 18" 'play dolls' (American Girl/Pleasant Company, My Generation, Magic Attic)? One reason I love my Narsha sooooo much is that she can wear many of the outfits I started buying for my vinyl and porcelain dolls back when 'ball jointed dolls' were expensive antiques. I've only been interested in 'tinys' so far -- Narsha is my biggest BJD -- but if Alex can wear American Girl outfits, I'd be really tempted!
I am sure they would still be too large on her. The AG dolls are very wide. I had a Hypermaniac Muse whose body was also chunky like these dolls, I was able to buy a few Sasha doll and Kish Seasons size clothes that fit her fairly well, but even some of those were too wide. But AG, no way at all.
That makes sense toydogz4, because of the hieght Sasha things would fit most likely. I wouldn't fret, I am sure Dollmore will make with the clothes. Sooner or later, as they put it Lula78, I don't know if you have any of this artist's work, but hands are really her thing. The Narsha hands are the cutest of any of mine.
Okay. Never say never. I said I wasn't going to get any more msd size dolls........after seeing the new Fairyland releases and not being interested, Alexia is now at the top of my list. Xen, I'm very excited to see what you do with her.
I still cannot get this doll out of my head and hope to order her after Dollmore answers two more questions from me. I wrote about shoes, since shoes are always an important item with bjds. The foot size lists as 6cm like the regular Kid Dollmore. So I asked why those shoes will not fit. I was told Alexia's foot is wider and thicker. I am thinking maybe my flats for SD by Dale Rae would fit. My Zaoll is 6.2 cm and she takes quite a range of shoes. So until Dollmore comes out with their own shoe line, Dale's might work. The flats fit Zaoll. I was reading the posts, trying to catch up and thought this doll would look nice with my Dollstown kids as well. Great idea! I was picturing Alexia more old fashion, like in Raphael's paintings - you know the ones I mean??? As for her legs, well, that is one thing that I liked about her too. She is different and I have so many MSDs that look alike. She is almost cherub-like. Looking forward to seeing your girl, Gloriasdream. That is very exciting!
I'm getting more interested in the boy after several viewing sessions - someone in this thread pointed out that the boy has a feminine face and so I considered a boy head/girl body, dressing the boy like a girl, and then deciding that my dollstown sisters could use a brother as an excuse to start saving up for another resin 'kid' when I should be done I like your idea of an old fashioned 'Raphaelite' Dollswest - but you will still be designing for this size won't you?
I have received my answers from Jee at Dollmore. So I can order Alexia without worrying she will show up before the end of the year. In fact, Jee said it would take over a month since I want them to paint and sand her. I can airbrush the body okay. I actually like that part. It is sanding I can do without! UGH! Again, I keep saying this, I LOVE Dollmore's resin. It is so lovely. I love my Zaoll and Narsha, even though I cannot play with them too often. I am getting Alexia with the main focus on designing more child-like sweaters for this size. My other MSDs, sometimes do not lend themselves to it and I end up having things more for the young fashion crowd, like Ellowyne. However, now with Alexia, my DT kids and the new Kaye Wiggs one, I will have an ample supply of models for another look. I still would like to see Alexia in something from the 1700-1800's, a really old fashion look. Or even early 1900's. This girl can fit so many fashion eras. Even my husband is impressed with this doll.
