We had a doll meet today at a Japanese style Friendship Garden. It was a very beautiful day.

Hey After months of stalking this thread, I now finally have my own Yoyo to show off.



This is Kandís, my half human half blob monster girl. I love her already, but she's very tightly strung, reminds me of my Only-Dolls when I first got them.

This is a very interesting identity! Yep, they are tightly strung, I find that my girl poses really easily. I like her eyes, are they the ones from Doll Love or some you found on your own? They are a nice pattern and color.

 

Thanks! Most of my dolls exist in a sort of a "scifi-medieval" world (except for a few that live on other planets or travel between) and this world had a history of colorful blob monsters descending from the sky and eating what they can find. I haven't worked all of her backstory out, but I think she's the result of some experiment by a weird experimental physician. I bought her eyes with her from Alice's Collections, so there's that. (I expected them to be pinker, but I still like them.)

I actually think she's a bit too tightly strung, she snaps back a lot. I'm thinking hot glue sueding might help, but so will time. In a few months her posing will probably be perfect because the elastic will have relaxed a bit.

Also looking back on the thread Francie is quite lovely, I love her smile

Here's Nysa! She's sporting some new items! She got an amazing couple of dresses and some pairs of socks from a swap! I lovelovelove them! This one is my favorite, and those socks are as well! I also made her a headband. :3

Yuki and Tapi had a little play date today

 

They are so, so cute!!!!! I love how their outfits coordinate with the chocolate and pink. It looks like they had a lot of fun!

 

Hehe thanks mollym. Tapi is sort of a mori style girl so I thought the blue/brown dress she's wearing would be perfect seen as it didn't suit Yuki.

 

Is the DollLove white skin tone pink, peach, or ivory-toned? Or is it paper-white? What about the normal pink skin? Is it very pink?

And more yoyo/grapefruit spam please Alice collection has free-faceups, and I'm really tempted by a yoyo-2!

My girl is pink and she's a very light pink, mostly a pink toned white. I believe they mellow very nicely. I didn't know that AC has free faceups but Milky Queen Doll Castle on ebay has free faceups all the time and free wig. They're on sale now!!! Yes, I am such an enabler!!!

Yes, my little Francie (Yiyi) was ordered from that store. I was very happy with her and the free wig is very nice! I didn't request any certain one because it felt a little greedy. Well, low and behold the one I was eyeballing was the one sent. It was one of the pricier ones and I was embarrassed to ask for it as a free gift. Here is a photo from her box opening with the free wig. They also come with little underpants so they are not neeked.

Oh yeah, she does pink so much better than I can! I wanted to give her a pink wig for this outfit but the one I had was too small and I gave it away. I sometimes think of getting her another pink wig just for dressing up with certain outfits, but she's a little girl character and just buying another wig for a couple photos seemed silly. The free one is really nice, it's kinda like her 'formal wig'. lol I did not ever think I would want a tiny or a girl but she's my second favorite doll. I love how portable she is!

I'm going to upload more photos of her in the next day or two. I had to get a new sd card reader to load up all the recent photos. I love making photos of her so much more than the boys (don't tell them that).

 

It was a nice and pretty outside when I was gathering my camera and Francie to head outside for a photo. I've been wanting to make a photo of her in one of her new outfits from nubanded on etsy. Of course once I set her down it started it rain! I snapped this one really quick before grabbing her up and making a mad dash to the door! I got wet but at least I managed to snap this one photo! You can see a rain drop in the corner of the lens. lol

Thanks! Heh, it's not cool here until about 1 or 2am. It's been sticky and hot. Kentucky is a beautiful place no matter the season though. I didn't even get a chance to pose her, just ploped her down and <snap>.

I was surprised today with a delivery from [MENTION=62550]cutiepie[/MENTION]. I bought a panda kigurumi from her and since we're buddies and she wuvs us, she send these super cute shoes to Francie. We were super psyched to get her in all her panda wearables and with her panda toys for a pic. I did forget one toy, her panda loz set which is like legos but yosd size. I will get a pic of her with her loz panda set next time I do photos! Here she is in her kigurumi made with love by cutiepie!

Guys, I need people's opinions! So I've noticed in some places places Yuki's face up is chipped or worn off. It's a company face up which I love but wouldn't mind changing.

Well, faceups don't last forever, dolls don't last forever either. Enjoy her best while you can, so go ahead and get her a new faceup and start enjoying her makeover. I doubt you'll love her any less.

Hi everyone! It's been a bit. I got a new camera, and it's great! I've been super busy with stuff. Also was having a really hard time bonding with Nysa. She just didn't turn out like I wanted her to...

Anyways, I went to take pictures of some wigs, and I tried this one on her and I LOVED it. Turns out she is a he. So meet my newly redone DollLove Wen Wen BOY.
His name is Kif and I love him already.
He doesn't have any clothes, sadly.
I think he'll keep this faceup for a bit. I want something similar, but I'm not ready for him to go anywhere yet! (Good sign, right? ;D)

It's a nice thing about the DollLove girl bodies. They are gender neutral.

 

I just got my shipping notice! I choose slower shipping, so it may still be a bit, but I am still excited. Hard to believe it's only been 20 working days I'm still waiting on an order from another company that I made in May!

I also made her a pair of bloomers and a t-shirt from a tutorial here on DoA. I just hope they fit.

Francie has by far, the biggest wardrobe of all my dolls. They wear standard yosd clothes. I'm sure if you adjust your patterns a little bit you will be making her a huge wardrobe in no time.

Charlie's Sky Scouts uniform is complete!



The bottom of her uniform is actually a skort.



This is the boy version of the Sky Scout uniform.



It took me three days of sewing to finish both uniforms. There was a lot of pin pricks and cursing and sweating and even a few tears. Here's how it went down:

For the bottoms, I started out with brown material from my stash. The girl's bottom was originally to be a pleated skirt but the fabric melted when I tried to iron in the pleats. Back to the drawing board. I decided a skort would be easy enough to engineer by just adding a panel to my simple shorts pattern. It also made more sense for activity; skirts and camping don't really go together but I still wanted it to be feminine. My first skort ended up WAY too long and the second ended up getting the leg cut off when I was pinking the crotch. Sheesh. I'd ran out of brown fabric at that point and ended up taking a trip to Joann's for khaki. I am much more pleased with the new cotton fabric. After that, everything went easy peasy and the bottoms were done.

Next: the polo shirts. I harvested material from one of my old t-shirts and made use of the khaki from the bottoms. I took the same pattern that I normally employ for t-shirts. I cut a slit in the front and added the button placard and collar (I figured out how from a tutorial). I used the same thread that matched the khaki fabric to sew the hems. The only difference between the shirts is that one of the polo shirts buttons on the right and one on the left because apparently men's and women's shirts button differently. I didn't want to make tiny holes so I just sewed the buttons on as if they were buttoned. Except for Charlie's top button. She's just not the type to button her shirt all of the way. The shirts are velcro up the back because I'm not a masochist.

I originally made neckerchiefs and sashes out of leftover aqua material from my scrap drawer but the sashes weren't long enough. The neckerchiefs didn't work for me so I tossed them but I didn't have enough of the aqua material to make new sashes. So I dug in my stash and made the sashes out of blue material. It went nicely with the brown. However, when I had to buy new material, I was able to get my preferred aqua to remake the sashes. It looks much better. The patches are from an Our Generation scouts pack which is what inspired me. I cut them out of the provided sash (because it was too big) and sewed them on the new sash with invisible thread.

I felt the uniform still needed more aqua after I tossed the neckerchiefs, so I grabbed some aqua felt while at Joann's to make berets. I wanted the berets to look as though they were wool. The Googles provided a pattern for an MSD sized beret with a tutorial. I printed the pattern out at 100% and made one out of some scrap yellow felt. It ended up too big so I reduced the pattern to 75% and tried again. It was perfect! I stitched up two more out of my aqua felt. I wanted to add a button or something but it made it look cluttered. The berets were, by far, the easiest part.

I still have to make socks (white with aqua trim) just so everything is matching because I'm just like that. But otherwise the uniforms are complete!

All in all, I think I did a pretty good job. I'm rather proud of myself. Now, if my DL Chi would just get here so they can go camping.

So a couple of days ago I noticed that Charlie's face-up had a scratch in the cheek blush. Being the OCD person I am, I scratched at it. Of course, the faceup started flaking off. I already had a new wig in the mail (that came in today) so I figured I'd go ahead and give my little sweetie a new face to match. Here's how it came out. Not bad, if I do say so myself. Especially considering that this is my first resin face-up (I gave my Hujoo babies wee faceups a couple of weeks ago).



Charlie is now a ginger! She's cuter than ever!

 

We are actually going on a two week camping trip next month. I'll be taking my babies and their camping gear. After all, they need to earn those badges somehow.

 

@mollym I didn't make their outfits, someone called Bev on facebook did and I bought them off her as soon as I could lol! @ - chi's are awesome (i have two) and your scout uniforms are awesome!
