I am thrilled to see this doll body type. I have been looking for a doll with super wide shoulders and narrow hips since I first found out about BJDs in 2007. I pray the sculptor will make similar doll bodies compatible with the male EID heads, with their mongo 13.5cm necks... I have had no luck finding a new body for my Kamau. I hope he makes some darker ones too, I NEED one in Iplehouse's light brown. I will probably buy Rey reguardless, because he is just so lovely!

Sadly, I have other priorities, so I can't really afford him as a full doll at the moment, so I asked regarding the head. I hope it'll become available someday (again?), I'm hoping he could work on the April Story Senior boy body I have on layaway from a friend.

 

I'm unbelievably excited! I love Iplehouse, but the body is terrible for fitting into clothes. I found that out the hard way when all the pants I ordered for my YID Patrick didn't fit. XD
But this Dollits DAD is just the perfect body shape I've been looking for. I'm sold! I'll be ordering one just as soon as I save up enough. Unfortunately, I'm not a fan of the DAD Rey head, so I'm still looking for a head I do like. Too bad Iplehouse doesn't have many choices. None of the ones they offer have caught my eye... But it's good to know SID and YID heads both fit the DAD body.

Where did you see the new head? I could only find the original Rey head on the site.

Oooh! Great hunting skills! And if I'm understanding the Google translation correctly, it looks like the new sculpt will be ready for sale next month. Wonder if it'll be available as just a head or if it will be another whole doll sale? And it looks like the DKD/42cm line is coming along nicely. :-)

 

Saw him and now I'm thinking about replacing a character I already have shelled....*sigh*

 

I wish I knew who sculpted my dolls. How do you guys find out?


Also, between JB's to-die-for heads and Granado's bodies (sorry JB, he's just too tall! ) I foresee some changes to my shopping list ...

Wow...he did Dexter and Bordy.

Dexter...that's one of the first sculpts I put on my list.

 

This new one is so...young-looking. I'm surprised. It's like a little kid on a grown-up body. It's not striking my fancy, but I'm glad to see he's sculpting them so quickly together. I'm hoping he makes another mature face soon, possibly with different lips. I'm looking for one with thinner/straighter lips, though he seems to favor the big/curvy lip look.
I'm excited to see what he comes out with next!

 

I asked on Flickr if the Hyun head would be sold separately and J.B. answered yes. :-) Hmmm....wonder if that means he'll be selling the bodies separately as well.

 

Wheee! Oh, this is great news! Exchange rates suck so bad right now that I'm definitely not buying full dolls anytime soon, but a head is a different story ...

l'd love to buy a head too, but not this time( Anyway, he'll be a perfect and cute lady, i think) His lips are very girlish ^^

I still don't think I'm interested in this particular sculpt, but I'm excited he's coming out with them so fast. Hopefully there's more to come, and soon. ^_^

I love the Hyun head a lot, but as people have been saying, I would definitely use it as a girl. I wonder if the head would fit the Iplehouse EID woman body...

 

I'm so in love with Hyun. Too bad he's way too tall for me (that and no funds for the whole doll at the moment). I just registered at the website but I can't find face-up option. Or is there none?

 

Apparently (unlike Rey) he only comes blank - it says on the page "makeup is not for sale". (But hey, he's up!)

I'm pretty sure it would. J Baek posted comparison pics of Rey on the nYID boy body (I think the Dollits guys are supposed to fit those) and nYID boy heads can go on EID woman bodies, so ... yeah. I reckon he'd fit.

 

Oh, I see.. I thought it was SID men heads who fit EID women bodies, and nYID boy heads would fit SID women bodies.
At least I have an EID woman body I can compare the head to, if I end up buying it.

 

Fit-wise all the larger girls' necks are the same, the heads are interchangeable. What looks best is a matter of taste though, the shoulder width and general proportions are different.

'Rey re-released': I don't get it. Why didn't he release a new head instead? Am I missing something?

 

Rey had a limited run where he had a big discount on him as a full doll ($100 less than the regular price). Now he is being re-released at the regular price.

 

He's also working on the D.K.D. girl body and sculpt(s), so there will be more dolls released.

 

Thanks for the explanations. I had hoped he'd release a third one before moving to another size. Two heads for one body, that's just not enough choice.

 

What are ya'll using for clothes for this body? Will SID things fit? What about pants?

Sadly I could not afford the Dollits body (had a Venitu on the way already.. can't have them all, can we ?) but a lot of hybridation seems possible

 

Did you do the face-up? It is perfect for him.
And the wig is so much better than the one on his promotion picture.

I hope to see more of your boy, I find him very appealing.
If Hyun wasn't so young looking, I would put him on my wishlist especially after seeing yours. Unfortunately, I wish to give my SD boy an older brother rather than a younger one. I am looking forward to Mr Baek creating a 3rd head for the D.A.D. body after creating his 1/4 female BJD.
I find that Hyun is a very nice sculpt as a female too. Pity he didn't follow it with a 1/3 female body.

EDIT: has anybody bough a white skin body? Is it paper white ?

Hi all! I have Rey and I'm finding his body is just too much for me to handle. Does anyone know if there is a smaller body that his head will fit on and that will match the skintone? Thanks!

 

Not sure about the skintone, but they will fit on Iple nYID boy bodies (those were sculpted by J Baek). You can find reference pics on J Baek's flickr, too.

 

@Scissorhand, how does the body behave? Is it a body that poses well? And is the white paper-white like Impldoll's?

I tried my Hyun on two bodies : the Ringdoll RGM-03, the neck is perfect and the shoulders too, but there is absolutely no color match >_<
I also tried it in the Loongsoul 68cm body (normal yellow skin) and it looks pretty good, and the colors are similar (the Dollits NS is pretty much peachy but on the yellow side)

 

Ringdoll offers colour matching service though, you might want to check that if the head fits ...

Can the D.A.D. body wear SD17 clothes or is it a Sew-It-Yourself kind of body? I cannot find many pictures of Hyun and Rey.

EDIT: I just found a flickr picture from Toria Soll of the Dollits body with a Dollshe Aramis head. Does anybody know If it really work? And if it does, which dollshe skin would you recommend to match the Dollits normal skin?

Edit2: I just found out that the Dollshe 18M bodies have a 10.5cm neck while the Dollits' is 11.4cm. Aramis looked so good on that body! x 2

Edit3: hang on a minute! Don't they measure the bottom of the neck instead of the top sometimes?

Okay, so asking again:
is Dollshe Aramis head okay on Dollits body ? and which Dollshe skin colour to go for to match Dollits normal skin or white skin (is white skin same as oriental skin or fresh skin)?

Okay, Dollits is mentioning SD17clothes as fitting the D.A.D. body - EDIT: and discovered too that this was already mentioned earlier in the thread . Discovered pictures of normal skin and white skin after registering too. White is not white. There are more info on the 'Dollshe Discussion - part 7' thread (starting by post no. 317) regarding this hybrid.

 

Does anybody know Korean? Dollits put a December calendar on his Korean blog.

He is showing 2 pictures of sculpts 'in grey', one which looks like Hyun and the other one which shows Oscar. I should have taken Korean at school. Lower down, he had taken a snap-shot of 2 D.K.D. with Justin and a 1/3 girl that I've never seen before. No idea if she is an old sculpt or a new girl. Gripping.

EDIT: well, I used google translator to understand part of his latest blog (the one with the 2 pictures) and it sounds as if he is offering courses in BJDmaking.
Anyway, I am looking forward to Oscar.

 

Wow, why did everything sell out on the Dollits website all of a sudden? Pretty scary I was really hoping for a Christmas event to get Hyun and now I'm confused D:

 

I haven't found SD17 clothing to be a good fit at all for the DAD body. The closest thing I've found to fitting is an SD16GOU outfit and even then the length in the sleeves is too short. Pants were a great fit though.
