DOLLITS by J Baek

The Dollits website appears to be a work in progress. Nothing much on it yet. It's interesting that the D.A.D. size (69.3 cm) is paired with a smallish head (8.1 cm). The head and faceup remind me of SoulDoll Vito. The only resin colors currently listed are white and normal. I'll be eager to see the other size listed, the D.K.D. You can click on it, but the pages are blank. The wig sizes in the wig column are 8 and 6-7.

 

Oh, it's John Baek's own site, as i understood, he was or still is Iple's sculptor and decided to make his own bussiness. I like his Rey and his body. He reminds me of Leonard with the lower part of his face.

This is definitely a site to watch! I remember seeing his mini size girls for sale through Denver Doll. I'm not a fan of dolls showing lots of teeth, but his smiling Miso is hard to forget.

I'm glad you figured out what the DAD and DKD mean. I puzzled over it for a while without coming up with anything.

 

I was just looking at the new doll and thinking..."WOW, here's a contender for Iplehouse dolls. Love the sculpt!" And it's Iple's sculptor. haha

 

No wonder this sculps remains me on iplehouse a lot but I like Rey he is very good looking Doll.

 

I haven't seen his Denver Doll girls, but MSD's that he sculpted for DIM are very nice (i like Julia), and their bodies are so beautiful.

Well, that was worth dragging myself out of bed for. Definitely keeping an eye on his work! I'm not sure about the body, the legs are a bit too long for my taste, but heads! Sold separately! I'm in. Thanks for the heads up, Lady Tiku!

lol... I am the exact opposite as you XD I actually really love the body but dont like the head so much. I cant believe they have a sculptor on board that can do slender bodies like that yet they havent released one yet O.o........... ugh! We need more body options! lol. I love how realistic it looks also

 

Haha, if he didn't sell heads and bodies separately anyway that'd be the perfect split setup
I'm not sure if I'll go for Rey, but I'll be keeping an eye on the faces to come. Maybe he'll solve my impossible-to-shell-OC problem

 

I like the Body too. But I guess I just will stalk the new company a bit. XD It's too early for me to go for a new Doll I don't know how well Skin, body really are.

 

I do like the look of the Rey body too And I do agree it would be cool if this body works for the Iple House heads and that the Rey head works for Iplehous bodies It will be very cool to see how things turn out

 

The J Baek dolls that were sold by Denver Doll Emporium were his DIM girls (Soohee and Youra). Both dolls are sold out but still shown on DDE's DIM page.

 

Jany, I'm not 100% sure that he (is he definitely a guy? don't want to misgender unintentionally) sculpted all of those heads, because some of them are the same sculpt -- maybe he was doing face-ups on them?

(Not that I don't think that he sculpted quite a few heads for Iple, I just can't tell whether those are all his, without a caption or context attached.)

Rey makes me think "What if Arvid and Claude had a baby?" LOL . . . it's interesting seeing parts of both of their features, with a more Shane-like nose.

I do really like that body -- wish it was more 70cm-scale, because it looks to be similar in build (although less exaggerated) to the Fifth Motif Timeless/Venitu body that Dollshe has been casting/selling for Fifth Motif. Since it's going to be a stone b*** to get clothes for those boys, it would be nice if the stuff for Dollist boys would fit them, and vice versa! They're closer to EID in scale, though, and super-lanky.

Looks like he actually lengthened the legs, going back through his Flickr. I kind of wish that he'd stuck with the original length, because they do look a little long to be proportionate, but they probably look good in clothes.

I really like where he's going with this, and while I don't think that Rey is for me, I'm excited to see his future releases

I like this easthetic, but at the moment i'm more interested in getting the body rather then the full doll. So..i will wait to see some more heads sculpts, or see if the body will be available separately for sale.

 

It's listed under parts, so it should be available separately

 

I would *LOVE* to see more inter-compatible dolls produced to fit Iple bodies/bodies to fit Iple heads . . . maybe the nYID-compatible one is a shot over the bow to determine interest level?

Looking at it, wouldn't SID heads work also? D.A.D is 11.4, nYID boys are 11.3 and SID are 12cm. As SID heads go on the nYID body ok, surely they would go on the DAD body?

If they do and if the normal skin is a good match, I think I will be trying this with a SID Eric head. I want him but I want him taller. I will watch to see what other heads Dollits comes out with too - I like Rey but not sure if I want him or another sculpt. Hmm...

 

It would be a 3mm gap, since that difference would be distributed evenly around the circumference. That's not too bad! Not perfect for short hair, but definitely workable. Since the bodies are what always stop me from getting any Iple guys, this is an intriguing idea!

 

Do you know, I'm tempted to get his head just to see if it works. I don't have an nYID boy (yet), but from the way Rey's head sits on his original body (the neck bump is visible in some pictures) I'm willing to bet he'd work on the SID, too! If I decide against getting an Iple, that is ... (I was going to go for the event but currency value took a dive so now I'm not so sure any more. What's the point of ordering during an event if the discount gets eaten by the exchange rates anyway?) So depending on the price for the head I might ... might ... yield to temptation.

Does anyone know (yet) if there are more skin tones planned in the long run? Because I'd LOVE them to offer something IH RS-compatible

Lovely site design they have - I posted a question on the Q&A, and it has been answered, but I can't access it to view the answer. Every time I attempt to access it, I get the message, "Only read is authorized to Administrator." There's not an option to enter my password for the post so I can read it.

 

...And that would be why I looked at Rey and thought, "Derp, that looks like Justin! "

I have a stupid question. If this sculptor is starting a new company, does that mean he/she is no longer with Iplehouse?

I do like that body. I have a hybrid planned that I bet would look fantastic with it.

 

Whew! I posted another question on the Q&A board about the access problem, and they fixed the issue. It should be possible to enter passwords and see their answers now. They thanked me for pointing out the access error.

I would like to see if I could put a SID on the Body ^___^ okay the body is large but not as heavy as a YID so I guess it would be fine for me.

It's really cool that he did so many comparison shots between Rey and Justin. As usual, I don't think a head for a 70cm doll looks well on a 60cm body because the face is too long, but the Justin head on the DAD body is passable! That bodes well for other heads that are larger than the teeny nYID heads.

 

I was in some whack midnight doll-craze late last night and went ahead and ordered the WS version. The body is just so nice, I can imagine him with the whole casual t-shirt - jogging pants hanging off the hips -look. I'm not 100% about the face, I mean it's got potential, but after seeing the comparison with iple head on the body I just can't shake the idea of either Shane or Chris head combined with this body ... Ooh la la!

 

Wow, I really like the engineering of the body, and I appreciate that J Baek took the time to photograph it so thoroughly.

 

I'm surprised there isn't more interest in this guy, if for nothing else then the body - I recall people wishing for a more poseable iplehouse body?
Anyone else order him yet? I am wondering, because the status of my order has gone to 'queued for shipment', could it really be shipping out so soon? I've got absolutely nothing for a 70cm guy ready at home @_@

 

Agree, loving that ab detail and the mature face is growing on me. I'll look forward to pics of him since my funds aren't near where I'd like them to be T.T

I'm planning on getting one of the Rey heads when they go up for sale, but J.Baek told me that they won't be available for sale separately until the first 20 dolls (the discounted ones for the event) sell. So those 20 whole dolls have to sell out first.

 

Glad to see that he's shipping pretty quickly. I bit the bullet and put a NS one on lay-a-way. I already had plans to pick up an IH DC SID Asa during the event, so paying for him in full wasn't an option. Looking forward to owner pics :-)

And on the clothing front, I'm going to try some of the Crobidoll "B" line clothes for my guy. The measurements I found for the Crobi guys was Ht: 68cm, Chest: 31cm, Waist: 22m, Hips: 28cm. Not a perfect match, but close enough to be worth giving it a go depending on the style of clothing. AngelFantasy 70m looks to be good for pants and LoongSoulDoll 70cm could work for shirts. There were a few more possibilities, but I can't see to find my window shopping notes at the moment. :-/ I haven't started the search for shoes...gonna wait 'til my guy is here and try on the shoes I have and go from there.

Ooooh! Veeeery nice!! Have you had a chance to play with his posing yet?

 

He's alot lighter than my Iplehouse SID i think and posing is much better. My SID can stand very well and even hold other dolls but he's not elegant. Rey has so many clicking joints, i think he'd be able to do just about anything. i do wonder how he'll stand up to wear with all the clicking.

 

Oh, I'd love to see some comparisons with your SID! Can his head fit on the SID body, and vice-versa?

 

I'd also like to see an SID next to this guy! My friend is planning on trying to hybrid an Eric with this lovely body in the future

 

It's nice to hear that he's lighter. I *LOVE* my EID guys, but they are a serious handful. I'm really looking forward to getting my guy home. :-)

I know what you mean. And if the lay-a-way option hadn't been added, he would've been waaaaaay down on the list. But I think he's gonna be great for my human male leading role. Close enough to fit in with my Iples, but clearly different. I can't wait to see what the female will look like.

 

I keep looking at him and thinking he'd make a great character for someone with Elven ancestry....tall, slim, regal. Heehee. (happy dancing)

 

Just playing a little and he's kinda a stupid easy poser. I've never had arms just stay like these right out of the box. Getting my SID out now.

Yes he's normal skin. My SID is peach gold so i can't talk to resin comparison.

 

Hmmm....that reminds me...I've got an older NS EID male body here. So even though I won't be able to put the Dollits head on that body, I can see about resin matching possibilities. :-)

 

I've been wondering if the sculptor is using Iplehouse's resin so I cant wait to see how that comparison turns out! Not that I need a new body for hybrids but it'll be nice to know there is one available if necessary down the road. I dont really have any characters that need to be that tall though. Kinda hope he'll make a body that is a bit shorter some day.

 

It looks like he's got plans for 2 sizes right now, so hopefully sales will be good enough that it happens.:-)
