Or try to find red-eye flights there on Thursday and out on Sunday (so only one day missed) ... I've had to do that before when I had to be at work... but it's not very fun to have such a tight schedule. And some airports don't have flights out after a certain time...

 

Oh man I wish lol! My sensei is pretty strict lol. I'll be in the second class too, so missing three days would be really hard to catch up on. >.<

Well, I am apparently going too. Will be attending with Elisa_Maza of AngelToast. First doll thing in like forever.But looking forward to meeting some of the people I've "known" for years on the boards in real life. Roomsare booked, now just need the flight.

 

I've been meaning to jump in here and shout "Yes, I'm attending!". XD Rooms are booked and everything. I can't wait to put faces to names. ^_^

 

So will Friday afternoon be the only time to pick up con registrations - not on Saturday morning? that is, do you have to be there on Friday even if you aren't interested in room sales? Trying to cut down on hotel expenses here...

Registration is available on Saturday as well. Friday registration should open before 5pm.

Oh my, I am moving to Buffalo next month! This is like a dream come true! Definitely attending! (Edited to add: Could I just register there on Friday?)

Registered! My sister is attending with me. I'm going to try and get my niece into this hobby as well, I'll see if I can bring her along. I'm so excited!

 

Hmmm. Trying to reserve a double room for 4 nights. Even though it says rooms are available (green squares), it will only let me reserve for 3, not 4. Is anyone else having that issue? Also, is there a train station nearby? My friend and I were considering taking a train instead of driving.

 

I think the hotel told us that Thursday was completely booked out, Stormlight. You'll probably have to call and ask about it. They're really nice though!

And Amtrak has 2 stations located in Buffalo. They also probably have Megabus service up there, too, which my old roommate used to use all the time.

Awesome! That's helpful info! I was afraid of that might be the case with the room. Great to know about the train stations. I'll be looking into that next.

My friend and I are actually thinking of just booking a room outside the block, since it's only an extra $50 per night. It's worth paying to save the inconvenience of driving from another hotel to the con. We made that mistake going to Monster Con last year, and just finding parking alone was a huge pain, not to mention the bizarre directions my GPS kept giving us to get there. That was an experience in and of itself, attempting to navigate New Jersey. lol Also, if we take a train, we won't have a car to drive around in, anyway (we're assuming Regency provides shuttles from the station to the hotel).

Also, this way, we can stay from Thursday to Monday and go sightseeing to the Falls and such, and also won't have to rush so much to get funds together (I want to use tax return for it and she needs to wait for school refunds in March) without fearing all the rooms will all be reserved before then.

 

Good idea. I'm going up with friends and we're staying in two hotels.

 

I'm also wondering if there'll be an opportunity to register at the door vs buying the badge in advance!

 

Yay, booked the room today. I have an Aunt in Buffalo so it will be great to get to see her too.

 

Walk-up registration is depended on if registration is completely sold out before the convention.

So I have the hotel room booked. I plan to register next paycheck... then I'll book my flight either in late March or early april... that way i can concentrate saving for my family reunion vacation.

Only sad thing is I had to downgrade with the date correction. What I really wanted was already booked and I saw the date change late. Makes me sad because this was going to be a I treat myself for my birthday and now i feel like I'm settling.

 

It's a 6 hour drive for me even being in New York but I think I definitely want to go if I start saving now! ^_^

 

Eight more months of being extra financially responsible so I can be extremely financially irresponsible for a glorious three days. I look forward to the challenge!

I told my boyfriend that he's paying for all bills due in september including rent and groceries and that I am going to be using the entirety of both the 9/1 and 9/16 paychecks at the convention. ^_^ I've decided to prepay on the hotel early and see if they'll let me prepay additional money onto the room for a package or anything since i'm a gold passport rewards member and they have a few packages available.

Hi, all!! I just registered!! The registration confirmation sent me a link to book the hotel. But, when I tried to book, it's saying "no lodgings that fit your criteria". So, is the hotel block definitely sold out for Thursday night? Are they going to expand the convention block or just make us pay full price to stay there on Thursday? Seems like, if the block is already sold out, they'd open up a larger block for the convention? Or, do I need to call to make the reservations? Thanks in advance!!!

I'd think, since the convention organizers have already set up the block with the hotel that it'll be difficult to expand it for more people. You'll probably just have to book a different room for thursday night at full price instead of the con rate. Even calling the hotel, they will just tell you all the rooms are booked for Thursday.
