Dollfie Dream - General Discussion!

Sep 24, 2006

    1. If I may ask, what did you pay? All the ones I saw on E-Bay were $200 to $800 over priced D= Also who did you buy it from, there are some...less the reputable sellers.

    2. Ditto. That's where I got my $400 Dollfie Dream Dynamite body from :sweat

    3. Yeah, I actually stopped looking at eBay altogether because I was sick of seeing such extreme scalping--extreme as in, for the DDs I've been looking at, even after proxy fees and shipping, YJA would still be several hundred less. @_@ I'm certainly curious as to what you paid.

    4. Unfortunately for me, I had no choice kinda sincce both Volks USA and Volks Japan didn't have the DDdy in stock.

    5. Just for the body?

    6. Uh huh :sigh And it was the only body I could find on ebay so like I said, I kinda had little choice. But I got the DDII at the regular price from Volks Japan at least.

    7. I go to Volks USA at least 2x a month. It eats at my wallet.

    8. Lol. I think I should be happy I don't live in California then. I'd be perpetually broke if I was in proximity to the store by even 50 miles.

    9. I'm saving my pennies for next year's dolpa!

    10. I didn't buy them! I calculated the fees for importing the dolls to my country, and they were extremely high! So didn't want to pay like 2000 USD for only two dolls. (The seller, proshoppingjp, wanted to sell me Yui for 820 USD and Mio for 850 USD.) Could I really get them cheaper at Yahoo! Japan Auction? I really think it's confusing to buy through all those middlemen, double shipping etc. .. But yeah I know they were both overpriced :/ but I just really wanted them, luckily I stopped my impulse buy before I bought and payed for anything!

    11. Once you find out how to use Yahoo Japan let me know *hmmmmm* maybe not. ;) jk I have seen some really cool items I want but I'm so confused!

    12. That's the seller I got my DDdy body from but I kinda didn't worry too much about it. I have my girls home now so all I have to do is wait for a few more accessories and their custom face ups to be done and we're good! :D

    13. That link had one of those pillows in it...the ones that NT Times did a story on.....

But anyway I'm looking to get DDdy and I was wondering what the most realistic (none smiley) head it....also are their any fullsets NOT based on animes?

    14. Sorry to say, the Dollfie Dream line (both body II and the DDdy) are specifically made to represent anime-style form. But you can probably ask around more as I am a new bjd owner and this is what I have been informed of.

    15. I buy from Yahoo Japan frequently if you guys want advice :)

    16. All the Dollfie Dreams are more or less anime-ish in style. The most "realistic" looking DDdy I can think of is Alna (http://www.volks.co.jp/jp/hag/item_ddalna.html). She's part of the Afterschool Akihabara Girls series and not based on a particular anime character.

    17. I seen her before I like her, I was just curious if there were anymore styled like her...maybe in the future..

    18. I just had my first experience using shopping mall japan and won some limited edition clothes called Black Skull Cat from last year's dolpa. And I am now currently bidding on a Mai Shiranui outfit so I hope I win that as well. It is a little confusing to use and the fees can be a little ridiculous but hey, if I can find something there I can't get anywhere else, why not?

    19. Realistic DDs - I think after Alna, the only one that even comes close is Excellen, but she's not as realistic. And then after that are Shino and Kanu, who have smallish eyes, but they're both very obviously anime girls...and then after that none of them can really be called realistic-style ^^;

    20. I really like Alna, but I think I'll wait to see what they release in the coming year while I save up. Even though I really like Alna, I'm hoping for a more less smiley girl

    21. If one wants a more realistic DD-styled doll they could look towards Obitsu- they're mostly vinyl bodies with an inner skeleton aren't they? (granted DoA is pretty anti-anything that wasn't originally resin/elastic-strung/and-or from asia so you'd have some problem I think with a full Obistu doll here....) One could with work put an Obitsu head on DD body of one's choice however...

Or, something I found out recently how to do (never got a chance to do it because the company stopped selling the head) is that you could put a resin head on a DD body if you find the 'anime' heads are not to your liking. It'd take some work but it could be done. ^.^()

    22. Actually, Obitsu is grandfathered in like DD along with the realistic Obitsu heads made by Parabox Japan, so no problem discussing them on DoA ;) full Obitsus are not very popular on here, though.

A lot of people have put Gretel on Dollfie Dream bodies (well, she's only on the bust in that picture but she can go on the body too.)

    23. I don't really care for obitsus they don't have much personality to me, not like DDs have. I'm sorry if I'm being more difficult...

    24. This thread is well past the 1,000 post benchmark. Will someone please start the Dollfie Dream General Discussion Part II thread? Make sure you post a link back to this thread in your first post and I will then add a link form here. Cheers!
