I've been wondering why there were no DD one-offs! Guess they just didn't have it together until now? Also, what the heck is "Dreampoint"? A doll, an outfit, a prop? Anyone know, or are they doing their mysterious teasing again?

 

I'm really curious about what the "Dreampoint" is too. Maybe new doll parts? I really want to know what the ??? is. I'm hoping for a new doll. And of course there is the question of how they're going to sell the DD one-off. I hope they allow everyone (inside and outside of Japan) the chance at her.

I'm just starting out with Ball Jointed Dolls, thanks to my sister. She is giving me Yukino's head that she got as a freebie, all I have to do is buy the Dollfie Dream Body for her. I'm really exited about getting her all put together, but I am a little intimidated by the size. It's great seeing all these pictures of cute girls, I just want to adopt them all!

#2 - I would hope that the photo contest would be open to everyone, however, the VolksUSA site hasn't really been featuring much about DDA7.

#3 - A Dollfie Dream version of Volks' "Dream FCS" perhaps? Just a guess, so don't take it to the bank.

I'm currently waiting for DD Yuki Morikawa and DDdy Alna, my first two Dollfie Dreams!

 

Interesting hypothesis there, regarding Dreampoint. The name does kind of fit. I kind of hope it isn't, though, because I think a DD equivalent of FCS might reduce the chance of getting a wider variety of blank DD heads.

As for the one-off, she seems like sort of a transitional piece, doesn't she? Wonder why they went that route with her, instead of just making a true DD one-off like they're doing now. She is cute, though, and I especially like how much softer her face-up is compared to the other DD factory face-ups.

 

Pixel Wolf: Yukino is perhaps the most versatile of all the standard DD sculpts. You're going to love her. Going through Volks USA you will be able to make a choice between a DD2 basic body and a DD Dynamite basic body. DD2 comes with a M-bust, which is a nice average size. The body is beautifully sculpted, and almost classical in proportions. DD Dynamite is...well...WAY OUT IN FRONT if you know what I mean. DDDy also has a bigger booty to balance out her huge...tracts o'land. There's a different look and feel to either one. DDDy, of course, is saucy and sexy. DD2 is more like a classic ABJD aesthetic, albeit with a strong flavor of anime aesthetics.

Think she might be an preorder yes, and if she is then all who orders should be able to get one. But dunno this as a fact so don't quote me!

Volks, for certain dolls, will open preorders at Dolpas. These preorders are offered after all of the physical dolls have sold, however, they are also in limited quantities, so not everyone who is there will be able to preorder.

I am pretty sure what they are saying there is that Sakura will be a preorder and therefore whoever is selected will have to wait for the doll to be manufactured as opposed to shipping right away as the other AE dolls will.

 

All who wins Sakura lottery at AE must wait for her for late June (and I supose that many orders won't arrive since July :S) But this type of "preorder" only works with the doll. If you only want an outfit set and you win it, Volks will ship it without waitings.

My Karomie is home tanned using V-color. It's no longer able to be shipped to the USA so I'm not sure if you can find it. If you can I can give you the color mix I used on Romie.

Quick note: Don't dip the parts in the paint/thinner mix. (1 jar of paint to 1 jar of thinner. I had a larger jar I mixed the paint colors in so I used the same jar the paint had been in to measure the thinner) I made that mistake because I was impatient and realized I was missing a piece of my airbrush after I'd already mixed the paint. You can see how her wrist and elbow joints are messed up now. Don't make my mistake.

Another note About V-color: Don't use acetone after the doll is painted. It'll pull it right off. I know that seems really "Duh!". But when I looked at the tutorial it said the V-color "Bonds to the vinyl" Which it does to a point. 90% alchohol is best for removing face-ups on V-color painted DD/Vinyl girls.

I've heard the spray cans for car interiors is a similar stuff and works well on X-Box controller repaints. One tutorial I found recommends Krylon fusion and Another recommends Duplicolor fabric/vinyl spray. But it's a spray can only so you can't mix the colors. They're for car interiors so they don't have a flesh tone so to speak but they do have some nice more brown-tan and some cream-brown colors. They also have most other colors if you wanted a more colorful girl.

I haven't tried Car vinyl paint yet myself though so I can't guarantee the results.

@Super Dolfie Dream: I've been wanting a resin DD! Why do they do this when I'm broke?

Volks was supposed to make an announcement in May about this anniversary event. If they're not saving it for the last day, they've pushed back the announcement to June. Although we have had a clue, no official announcement has been made.

 

Did anyone have any luck with the Volks International sale for the new clothes from Dollsparty 23? I managed to snag Natsuki's outfit, the knit outfit and the headphones but couldn't check out! I kept trying for over three hours before going to bed -- got a server error each time. In the morning my items had vanished from my cart. It was very frustrating.

 

I was able to get the relaxed dress set, the police set, the gangster set as well as light summer outing dress set. I started out late so I didn't wait too long. Just an hour or so.

 

I'm waiting for the items to become availible on the US site. I don't like the fighting rush of the international site. After not winning Alna though i'm quite disappointed.

 

I tried on Moes outfit and headphones and while I got them in my cart I couldnt check out.

 

I got the brown headphones. Had the same traffic issue and my item disappeared from the cart. Luckly, I refreshed the page a couple time and it became available again lol. Just gotta keep trying.

I'm still waiting for my first DD Rina. Wonder when they'll start shipping White Album DDs!

Hi, quick question

What size are the DD wigs that they sell on volksusa? Do they fit on all DD head?

 

DD wigs are... for DD, by definition, so yeah they fit. MDDs generally use the same heads as the regular DDs, so the wigs will even fit them too.

SD wigs will also generally work, so feel free to shop from that list. The Volks SD wig selection is a good deal better.

If buying from another company, go for ~9 inch size (usually just advertised as "for SD"). However, head sculpts in general vary a little so it's better if you measure around your doll's head to know what size you need for sure.

 

DD-wigs are size 8-9. If you are buying wigs from another company, don't go for 9-10 size wigs, or "For SD" sized wigs, since they will be too large.

 

I agree with Quiet Queen, you really don't want to buy the wigs labeled 9'' or over as well as ones sold as "for SD" they will be too big. I also ordered an 8-9'' wig form Leeke and it's still quite a bit to big.

 

I've ordered a few 8-9" wigs from Leeke World and they fit perfectly fine on my DD.

 

DD heads vary a bit in size, so it will depend on the DD. Between my two, I've seen that Zoe has a bigger head (Please don't tell her that I said that.) than Saber. Have one wig that won't even fit on Zoe's head while it's fine on Saber.

Does anyone have a DDdy with crappy knees? Sorry if this is the wrong place but I have a DD, and 4 DDdy and one doll can't even stand on her own. Does anyone have this problem? Can I fix it?

 

Pull the feet off, slip the lower leg portion down and you'll expose the screw in the knee joint. Use a screwdriver and you can
tighten it up a bit. Be careful to do it too hard or you might strip the threads.

Ordered 2 outfits from the kyoto 7 regular items when they went on sale at 1pm my time. Finally my Sanada will have something else to wear!

 

Hi. I have just invested in my first DD dolls. I have ordered a DDdy base body and a DDII base body. I wanted so badly to get the HDD-01 head (eyeholes open) for both but they're not in stock at this present time, leaving me to purchase HDD-02 and HDD-03 (both with open eyeholes).

I am very nervous as I have found some outfits from different places online that seem like they would fit the DDII body but I'm concerned if I jumped in too fast for clothes since both bodies have yet to arrive, though the DDdy will be on delivery with the post office tomorrow since it arrived in the US today with the DDII body coming either late this week or early next week. And I have yet to locate something that will fit on the DDdy that I actually like.

I have found a lady who will do the face ups for the heads and have given her descriptions on how I'd like them, but she pointed out (as I noticed on the Volks USA site pictures) that DD tend to be more anime-like in facial structure and face up design. I would truly like to locate a head for both my new girls that will allow for a more realistic style face and face up.

Can anybody here point me in the right direction for all my concerns? Your opinions and advice would be greatly appreciated.

 

The standard DD body can wear most SD size clothing. Standard DD with L bust and DDDy can share some SD16 clothing--just know that SD16 has a thicker waist and is taller. If the outfit is designed to hug the SD16 body closely, it will be hard to share. The DDDy bust may be too large for some outfits altogether.

If you'd like a non-anime style head, consider a hybrid--i.e. a doll with mixed parts. Most SD heads should be about the right size, but depending on your taste, you may consider heads intended for larger dolls as well. This topic comes up every so often, this thread being one of the more recent ones (I think). A quick and dirty method I've seen is simply to use a binder clip on the neck stem. I can't imagine that it's very flexible but it works!

Skin matching is potentially an issue, but if you stick to the "normal" skin color, most brands should work passably well as-is. If not, you may have to paint or blush the head to match. Note that both resin and vinyl yellow over time, and that this is very individual--it depends on your home's temperature, humidity and sunlight--and of course these are two different materials! It is very possible that they will diverge in color as they age. It may not bother you though. (Yellowing doesn't really bother me personally.)

 

Thanks! I have considered purchasing a resin head for my soon to arrive DDs but I have kinda been hesitant since it was noted that unlike the original DD, which used the hook and elastic system like the regular Volks SD lines, the DDdy and DDII have pegs for the neck connection. And I have yet to find a resin head which follows that kind of design even though a video had been posted on youtube of a girl putting a resin head on a DD body.

So I'm thinking that if my search to hybridize the dolls yields no fruit, I might be resigned to punishing my poor wallet again and purchase a resin SD in its entirety....

 

Yeah you have to attach it the way the girl did in the video, there aren't resin heads with the pegs the DDs use. =/

this past weekend, i past by the volks store in Torrence (California) and they had a DDdy Mia Shiranui and a DD Mashiro Mito.
I just loved the look of them, so I bought them. now no savings. But I very happy.

 

I would so love to have the Mai Shiranui outfit for my DDdy *sighs* But I can't locate the outfit in itself without the doll

I played with all my lovely ladies today for about 4 hours (Mai <too bad she is my fiance's doll>, Yoko, Sasara, Yukino) and dannnnnnnnnngg I enjoyed it. I think my MIL thinks I'm crazy... I'm positive she thinks that. I wish I could find more DD M bust outfits.
