    1. Bad, bad, bad, sad news on Reservations at the hotel. :( I waited too long to book - it's a complicated story - and found out they are sold out for that weekend, they do not have a waiting list, but they will gladly reserve you for a three night package 18JUL - 21JUL for the same price as a brand-new Dollshe boy. *wails* The Challenger Hotel is still booking and within walking distance.

      *feels stoopid*

    2. wow, I hope that I am lucky in that day XD

    3. Oh gosh, I am so jealous of all you people who get to go-it looks like it's going to be absolutely amazing :( Really wish things hadn't turned out the way they had for me. Oh well, everyone take lots and lots of pretty pictures and I'll be sure to get an extra head start for next year!

    4. Bummer! Well at least you still get to go! I'll be looking forward to seeing your Angles in person:)

Oh man, the Iplehouse MSD's announcement has got the hubby all stoked. We're Iplehouse fanatics...:D

    5. Sorry that it took me so long, but I just posted directions to the hotel via a variety of options on the website. Please let me know if you need any others -- via boat, horse, helicopter.;)

    6. Mule train? ;)

    7. Oh boy! Zag is coming! :chocoheart O happy day! Suck about the hotel, though. It's high tourist season here, things is packed. Glad you found lodgings.

Those Iple Minis are the bomb! I can't wait to meet them!

Final deadline for volunteering is July 3, by the way. I'm ironing out the final schedule right now & hope to have it done Thursday... But if you're able to be flexible about your hours, last-minute straggler volunteers are welcome!

    8. if all else fails zag you can sleep on our floor or snuggle between brandy and myself, lol

    9. Well, from Canada, give yourself about four months, but it would at least be cheaper than driving these days.

    10. Counting the days until Dollectable! I have a question, though. Because of my travel arrangements, I will have to leave before the Awards & Closing Ceremony on Sunday. (Dang!) I am planning on entering the Costume competition plus the raffle, etc. Do you have to be present to win?

    11. Is there anything planned for Friday evening for the people who aren't attending the cocktail party?

    12. It would be a great time to go out and see some of San Francisco, in my opinion. And I'm sure there are lots of places around to have some impromptu doll meetups.

    13. I am so excited and nervous for my class :shudder I can't wait to meet sooo many new faces :o it will be so much fun!

Can't wait to see you again Zag ;) oh and Brennil I am a fan of your clothes! I must bring my Luke in his outfit and lots of money for more :o

    14. Gonna flag you here JennyNemesis and say that email's been acting funky as all get out and has been having serious issues sending you the emails in regards to volunteering! *_*

Sent you a PM instead and hopefully, you'll get that one!

    15. The Dollectable board is currently discussing what to do about getting prizes to those who can't be present. Originally, I said that it wouldn't be a problem to ship them, since that's what we did with the few that were left last year, but with more prizes and a later day on Sunday than last year, we may have more prizes to ship, which could get expensive. I'll keep you posted with the board's decision.

Also, slightly off-topic, but I just read that a Japanese Buddhist temple is having an Obon festival that weekend. It is only four blocks up Pine Street from the con, so if you feel like a break from dollies, you could walk up there for some dancing, cute crafts and tasty food.

    16. You'll be brilliant, no one has any doubts about that.

I am curious about something, as your chosen weapon is the air brush. How much could one who's firmly of the brush-n-pastels school get out of your advanced class?

    17. Okay ... don't everyone flood the dollheart website at once ... but they've released the MSD fer for preorder, with pickup at Dollectable.

    18. Iikaya, PM received & replied! I will contact you next time from my Netscape address. Sorry for the runaround our servers gave you.

(Kelly, for Christmas please tell Santa that I want a nice new convention domain, one that BLOCKS the spam and ALLOWS the volunteers' emails-- not the other way around. :P)

    19. Just curious - how many attendees (in general) do you think Dollectable might have this year?

    20. Wow, it's tough to say, because we can have no idea how many will register at the door, but it will most likely be in the 350-400 range.

    21. Cool!

It will be large enough to have a great turnout with lots of pretty resin and small enough so people trying to find each other can. *laughs*

I'm used to mid-sized cons in Dallas, where sometimes you never see your friends you know are there. I've never been something large like animeX but I know it's nutters.

    22. All I want to know is:

WILL I HAVE ENOUGH MONEY TO SPEND???

Not that any of you all can help me answer that. :sweat

    23. I have the same question for myself *_* There are so many awesome dealers this year!

    24. Just a reminder, for those of you who want the Dollectable exclusive Blue Sky Fer for your Unoa / 40cm girl, to be picked up at Dollectable only, please go to www.dollheart.com to place your order!

      Alex

    25. I think that's everyone's question! I know it's mine. :sweat

    26. I just have a quick question, sorry if it's been posted elsewhere, but when I looked through my issue of Haute Doll, on the last few pages I saw an ad for Contemporary Dolls and it advertised it would have its dolls for sale at Dollectable, but it listed the dates as July 25-27. Once again, sorry if this was cleared up elsewhere but I was just wondering if I could confirm the date since if it's the 18-20 as said on the website, there might be a small smidgen of a chance that I can attend :aheartbea

    27. Yes, it is the 18th-20th :)

    28. Yay! Awesome, thank you <3

    29. Yes, Contemporary Artist Dolls seemed to have the incorrect dates awhile back and I guess they missed this ad. But the convention is indeed the 18th-20th.

    30. yup, the infamous weekend of the 18th-20th... Dollectable, ComicCon and my LARPing event... well BJDs topped them all in the end for me :fangirl:

    31. Hey, I have to leave Dollectable and head down to San Diego for Comic Con as an exhibitor, so I totally understand the feeling. :)

    32. Okay, stupid question. What is everyone doing with their dolls at the show? Is there a place to display them, or does everyone just carry them around? And if so, are they carried around in open containers (not to make them sound like alcohol :p ), or does everyone just carry them in bags or their arms to show them off?

    33. Unfortunately, after the NY thefts, for security reasons, the con will not be offering any display area or dolly-daycare for attendees' dolls and cannot be responsible for lost or missing dolls. You will need to keep your dolls with you at all times, either in your arms or in a secure carrier.

    34. Wowwwww!!!! Just got news of another donation to Dollectable!
This one is a OOAK bjd from Dollfair International, customized by DOA's own Catrina!!

      She is the Machina Gold!

She will be another great item exclusive to Dollectable! She will be included in our fantastic Raffle!

      More details on her:

      Batchix Machina Gold for Dollectable
      Doll artist: Batchix
Produced by: Enchantment Doll at Dollfair
Painted and customizations: Catrina - Dollfair

Batchix Machina Gold features full body lining in pale gold on a lilac resin body. She wears Masterpiece eyes and enjoys a wool Ziggy Stardust wig, but she also has a gold painted helmet. This lovely fembot is part human and part robot, and she dreams of touring onstage with her own band some day. Her favorite type of music is electronic and industrial, of course.

      Alex

    35. Thank you Kellyhime! That's so sad about what happened at the NY Dolpha. I want to believe that no one in our little DOA community could ever do something like that! Okay, then I'll just bring the dolls in a big carrier, and show them off in the individual classes.

    36. I really hope next year I can make it, if I am not shipped off to UK again by then.

I'm sooo jealous of those DollHeart Fer's.
I was desperately hoping to get one, but they're only avaliable there, and it'd probably be shady to order it and have someone send it to me/someone whos going to Comicon bring it.:sweat
      One can dream.

I hope to see all the pictures of this though, very sad I cannot afford the tickets up there. (we had planned to, but my boyfriend was far too nerdy to resist comicon.):doh

    37. Was there a decision on the costume contest display dolls? Are we taking them back up to hotel rooms for Sat night?

    38. Machina Gold is so cool! And she's an aspiring rock-star. Dig the Ziggy wig!
I will bring her some Project Pitchfork albums, and a few nice long repetitive VNV Nation remixes, to keep her entertained in the display room.

First the two adorable Iple-Mini girls, and now this? This raffle-prize list is getting so heavy it's groaning like a treeful of apples, Alex. I sure hope we have enough attendees to win all these prizes... hmmm... ^^

    39. I thought that I announced it (feeble brain is going), but we decided to have the costume contest dolls displayed only on Saturday. So, you will need to collect them on Saturday night, but won't need to bring them back on Sunday. Sorry about that, but even with having our own security stationed in the con area all Saturday night, we just did not want the added risk of people leaving their dolls in the display room. We are also going to be asking for ID and give you a receipt when you turn-in your application for the contest and you will need to show your ID and receipt when you collect your doll.

    40. Sounds good. :) Thanks for the info!

    41. Since there have been some lovely dolls announced for the door prizes already, about how many prizes are there? Or is that a surprise for the opening ceremonies? I'm just curious.

    42. Actually, the dolls will more than likely be part of our Charity Raffle.....but, we will have a surprise - or two, for our Door Prizes!
Details to be announced at our Opening and Closing Ceremonies!

And speaking of dolls and bjds, here is picture of the Souldoll Griffi, generously donated by Dolls and Friends!
Check out their 2 Dollectable exclusives on their website at www.dollsandfriends.com.

    43. Oh my goodness... the convention is so soon - I'm so excited!:D

I have a suggestion for the photography contest... well, for the awards ceremony, really.
Last year, when they announced the winners, I had no idea which ones most of the winning photos were.
Is there any way someone could just take a digital picture of each of the photocontest entrants, or at least of the winning entrants, and then show those pics during the awards ceremony? Or maybe post them after the convention, so we could go back and see who the winners were?
      just an idea...:sweat

    44. There's a charity auction? I totally missed that! When is it?

    45. We are planning a Charity Raffle, where all the ticket proceeds are going to Dollectable's pet charities! The Doll Raffle tickets will be $2.00 each, and the Goody Bag Raffle tickets will be $1.00 each. Winners will be drawn at the Closing Ceremony.
There will be discounts for folks who wish to purchase lots of chances!

Dollectable will also have Door Prizes drawn throughout the weekend and these tickets will be free to all paid registrants! We have many exciting donations from our vendors that will be given out as Door Prizes!

      Alex

    46. Has the committee decided if you have to be present at the closing ceremony in order to win a raffle. I made my travel arrangements before the schedule was announced and will have to leave on Sunday before the Closing Ceremony -- would really like to try for some of those dolls!

    47. aww...I was so looking forward to them being there :( I wanted to show off my lovely cue and let them know what an amazing job they did on her :fangirl:
Well at least Dollheart will be there :love

    48. Sorry that I didn't announce it. No, you still do not have to be present to win. As long as you fill out your door prize and raffle tickets carefully, we will try to track you down to be able to mail your prize to you. However, since we're working on a tight budget and all of the proceeds from the raffle will go to charity, we will ask, especially if you win something expensive to ship, like a doll, that you would pay for the shipping fees. Thanks so much for your patience and understanding!:)

ETA: I should have added though that there will also be FREE door prizes that will be drawn hourly throughout the weekend and will need to be picked up on before the closing ceremony, because the unclaimed ones will be redrawn then.

    49. Thanks Kellyhime -- that's great news, there are so many great donations -- I plan on spurging big on raffle tickets, and wouldn't mind covering shipping charges at all!! :D

    50. Oops, sorry that I missed this! That's a very good idea! I'll try to take pictures of the costume and photography entries and once we count the votes, I will try to quickly put together some slides for the closing ceremony.

    51. Well, this is a pathetic request, but does anybody still need a roommate? My plans seem to have all gone to hell, and short of sleeping in the hotel lobby I'm not going to be able to come unless I find a roomie. I'm willing to sleep on the floor.
      plmk!
      Maggie

    52. There's also a roommate thread in the meet-ups section: http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?t=218060&highlight=dollectable and if all else fails, there are a lot of other hotels in the immediate area. Good luck!:)

    53. edit: Oops, never mind Kellyhime already posted the link to the roomate/carpool finder.
      Good luck Maggie.

      Just over a week away! I can't wait:sumomo:

I remember there being a larger thread w/ tips for traveling w/ dolls but can't seem to find it now.
Am I imagining it or can someone please link?

    54. This time next week we will be in SF! We're coming in early and will shlep around the city on public transport with dolls in tow. Last time we were there, the crepe place in Japantown was closed on the Monday we were there so we WILL be going there at one point, probably the Thursday we fly in.

      It's so exciting!

And we get to see kellyhime and jennynemesis again - yay!

We'll also be carrying dolls around the hotel before and after the con, because we do that around town at home, too. My guys will be in a baby carrier strapped to my chest - hard to miss.

    55. me, I'll be the girl hopefully dressed-up but in pain or on drugs... I'll of had my wisdom teeth out that Thursday and so I'll be there but on the down low... *sigh*

    56. Aww, well its still a week away so I hope you feel better by then!

    57. Eep!

I had my wisdom teeth out recently too and the most important tip I can offer is take the medicine every x hours that your oral surgeon tells you to so you don't end up in agony when you take the painkillers too late and wait for them to kick in :ablah: Don't forget to get a syringe to clean out your sockets!

At least it's in a hotel so you probably can get ice easily if you need some ice to reduce the swelling :p

      *hughug*

Just can't believe Dollectable is so soon! Or Dollopia as my mom calls it  I'll be the deaf girl trying to carry two SDs. That reminds me, I need to finish fixing the hot glue sueding and possibly restring my girls before Dollectable :x

    58. Heh, my boyfriend keeps calling it "Dollapaloosa".

    59. Was this it?

      http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?t=197

    60. Oh, wow, ouchie! I had the same thing done years ago and I was down for a week, so I'm impressed that you're going to try to make it to the con the next day. Please let me know if you need to be directed to the nearest place that has ice cream.
