    1. There is a lot in the hotel. The day rate isn't bad -- I think it's $14 for an early bird special -- but the overnight is kind of high. There are also other parking garages very close by and some street parking. I'm going to put together a list and map of all the areas parking possibilities.

    2. I just realized that I had forgotten to list the booking code for those of you who are going to call to make hotel reservations. It's "SDO" and the hotel phone number is 415-441-4000.

    3. hmm, I made reservations without a booking code. XD And I got the convention rates and everything. All I did was mention Dollectable when they asked me if i was coming/ staying for a convention. :)

    4. EEK! I better think of something interesting to talk about :shudder

I actually cannot wait for Dollectable, I had such a great time last year and now I can be a part of it :D

      Thanks Kelly!

    5. *hugs*

      You will do great!

I guess I should plan on bringing a blank head and some supplies in my luggage.

    6. I so just can't wait for this event, the last one was such an excellent good time with plenty of wonderful things from every single booth! Everyone was so nice and the dolls people brought with them were so amazing!

    7. Hahaha~
I hope Edgar won't be alone xDD I don't want to have to bring just him~

    8. my sister and i will be attending for the first time this year and we're looking for roommates. we'll be getting in Thursday; staysing friday, saturday and sunday and leaving monday. anyone interested?

    9. *sqweeflails* me! overhere!! :)

    10. Angel & :) Dana here,
We're planning on making the reservation in January. The more the merrier. Getting a two bed and can hold up to 5 people. More if you don't mind impersonating kindling. Have fit 8 into one room before.:D;)
      Dana

    11. I'm sort of looking for roomies D:
I'm a guy however, so I'm not sure if that'd make some people un-comfortable~

    12. hey, we're kewl with that, we've roomed with guys before

    13. I think i totally missed you last year...or I saw you..and had no idea it was you. XD
I wanna go again! I had such fun last year. Met so many new people. And everyone was so nice, it helped alot cause I was so shy, and I arrived late, and urgh..I thought people were gonna...well...ignore me. XD
But they didn't. <33 I felt accepted. Its a great feeling. :aheartbea

Anywho...I wanna meet you next time Dink!! And hopefully my School C will get his body back so you can see him again. X3

    14. Don't worry. XD you'll probably end up holding someone's doll for any length of time before you leave.

My back was broken last year...:...( I sorely regret lugging around all six of my dolls all day. Next time...I'll leave some of them on a table to model for someone. and carry the lighter/better dressed boys. lol

    15. Great!
I hope to have contact with you in the future then :3

      @ Lugi-moo
Hahahaha! At the last SF meet I went to, I basically carried Aquaspirals Cherish doll with me everywhere xDD Heh, I'll probably have another doll by then. Most likely a YoSD, considering I love virtually every one I see ._.

And I'm sorry that happened ; 3; I'll carry a doll for you if you're knees start to crack, kay? xDD

    16. V chan and I are bringing all her dolls and at least half of mine.. XD I'm not quite sure how I'm going to carry everyone!! We're coming from Florida, so its not like we can even bring strollers or anything *laughsnort* XD;;

I still have to totally figure out what dolls I'm bringing! o___o! I have 12 now, possibly 13 by the time I meander my way out there... XD; They are never all going to fit on our carry on luggage! lol!

    17. We're looking at getting one of those toddler wagons. I got some big boys to lug around and I'd prefer to not leave them secluded up in the room :)

This is going to be sooo exciting!!!

    18. A toddler wagon? Sweet! My friend and I have strollers that just barely hold all our kids these days. ^^;;; I bought a pram not long ago... but it needs some serious renovation!

      Man. XD; How are all these children getting arrooound? XD;;

    19. If there was a scale replica sports car that could hold our dolls, it would be EXACTLY what I would want to push their little buts around in.

...this gives me horribly scary ideas.

    20. I'm going to just do a lot of bicep-curls and military presses and carry 'em barehanded. I got a serious workout carrying a Yukinojo one-armed, all over Dolpa LA... my shoulder was numb by 3 pm, so clearly my deltoids need a little work. :whee:

Others recommend a baby-sling or Snugli type thing, but heck, those things hide your cleavage. What fun is that?

    21. I'm kinda glad I don't have to worry about all this doll carrying or... --cough--cleavage.
      Being a boy rocks xDD

Nah, I'll probably have a Tiny by the con, so I'll have a little gremlin hanging from my hoodie pockets or something D:

    22. I'm all registered for the con, and have my room reserved. :)
All that's left now is to make my plane reservations.

Any idea how late the cocktail party is going to run?
I'll be flying in all the way from Hawaii on Friday, and the flight that I'm hoping to book won't get in to San Francisco until 8:25pm.

I'll definitely be bringing Lucifer, and possibly two or three others.
I don't know who yet, but they will probably all be MSD sized or smaller.

Also, is anyone going to be there that knows how to wire and/or restring a Banji?

My friend gets awfully frustrated with Dante, her little Banji boy, because he doesn't hold poses very well.
Plus, he has a tendency to twist the lower parts of his arms and legs around and then bend them at weird angles. 0_o
I think he needs wiring more than restringing.

Anyway, if you are good at wiring tinies, and you're going to be at Dollectable, please pm me so we can arrange things!
I'll be happy to pay you for the service and the materials. ^_^

    23. So glad that you can make it, JRyu!:)

Unfortunately, the cocktail party is going to wrap up at about 8pm, but I'm sure that there will still be loads of people hanging out in the lobby and the hotel has a large bar too.

At the first Dollectable, I really wanted to have a tinies panel to have someone talk specifically about the needs of the little ones, like maintenance, wigs and clothing. Unfortunately, the one tinies expert I know wasn't able to make it then and can't do next year either, but if anyone would be interested in doing a tinies panel -- or a tall (65+cm) doll panel -- I would love to hear from you!

I'll be posting a long list of the programs we have planned so far this week and a formal call for program proposals. Plus, I'll have news about some very special guests.:)

    24. *does a happy dance* Wooo. :D Sounds super Kellyhime <333 I can't wait to get out there and romp around!!

V chan and I are getting there early and leaving late soo if anyone is going to be around before and after the convention we'll be wandering the halls! :D
We are going to do a wee bit of sight seeing too, me thinks :P!

      Man, I so can't wait o____o!

    25. thats right between two large conventions for me- CON-vergence, and Kakkoicon, at which I'm organizing several fun BJD events. maybe I'll be able to go some year... I'd love to meet more dolly people and geek out!

    26. same goes for me.. i got Anime Expo and the San Diego Comic Con.. of which Dollectable is the weekend before the latter. :sweat

tho' i won't mind the geeking out part. ;)

    27. We'll be doing the same. Arriving a couple days before and staying a few days after the convention and going to lots of different places around the city... I'm definitely looking foward to it. ^_^

    28. I still need to register for thissssss! My dad doesn't know if he wants to come or not, but I'm sure he won't wanna pay 65 at the front. ._.;;

Hmmm. I'm only gonna carry one doll per day. I don't know how thats gonna work out though. :XD:

    29. I've been waiting for sales table info for months now and got no notice of things opening, other than finding this thread. sadness

    30. I'm so sorry for the delay! Lizzegirle is still the vendor coordinator and she has promised to have the information up and vendor packets ready by the end of the year. If you have any questions though, please feel free to PM her or email her at [email protected] (we kept our old email addresses, even though I'm the chair now).

    31. I REALLY want to go, but I won't know my money situation until after I get back from Japan in April. If I get into the JET program, I know I won't be going, but I'm not counting on that. :sweat

Anyone tentatively looking for roomies?

I look forward to seeing the program listings! :D

      ~Anrui

    32. Here it is, the post you've all been waiting for -- The Programming Teaser!:)

But first, I wanted to remind everyone that the $45 pre-reg promotion ends on December 31st, so if you haven't registered yet, now is the time to do it, because it goes up to $55 on January 1st.

Now, on to the programming. Our schedule is already jam-packed with great panels and events -- almost twice as many as the first Dollectable! I'm going to put a list of planned programs below, but am not going to include panelists names since we are still finishing up matching panelists with programs. However, some of the talented panelists we have lined up include Mercy, Zagzagael, rkold, SDink, Kallisti, Gayle, MieAga, DiryD, St. James, indrisfynn, aznbutterfly and ready2rokk -- oh, and yours truly.^^

This time, we divided the programs into three tracks, which will mostly be in the same panel rooms over the weekend, so that if you are interested in following just one track, you can stay in the same spot or will have an easy time finding different programs throughout the day.

      Photography Track
      Basic Photography & Lighting
      Advanced Photography
      Outdoor/Natural Lighting (in the field)
      Artificial/On-Camera Flash Lighting
      Your DSLR & YOU
Photoshop Techniques and Preparing Your Images for Online or Print Viewing
      Set Construction
Posing and Doll Management on "the set"
      Photostories

      Customization Track
      Basic faceups
      Airbrush basics
      Advanced faceups
      Body blushing
      Faceups the Blastmilk Way
      Extreme modifications
      Just Eyebrows
      Restringing
      Hot glue sueding
      Mold Making and Casting

      Everything Else Track
      Basic Sewing
      Hat Making
      Pattern Drafting
      Corsets Making
      Chinese Clothing
      Kimono Dressing

      Tinies
      Tall (65+cm)

      BJD Travel in Japan
      Tenshi no Sato
      Meet-up Etiquette
      Creative Writing
      Yuri (18+)

As for special events, in addition to the Cocktail Party, Opening, Awards and Closing Ceremonies and Swap Meet, we are also going to have two very special events. Back by popular demand will be JennyNemesis' Yaoi Slideshow, but this time it will be a Saturday evening event complete with fun contests and LIVE Ball-jointed Bishounen! Then, after all this naughtiness, on Sunday, we'll make things prim and proper again with a Gothic & Lolita Gathering.:aangel:

While we already have quite a full programming schedule, we still want to hear from anyone who is interested in doing a panel. As a thank-you for participating, we're offering a free one-day pass for anyone who proposes a panel. Also, I am specifically looking for people who would be interested in leading either the Tinies or Tall (65+cm) panels. Ideally, I see someone discussing the special needs of these sizes from what clothes and shoes fit to restringing.

As for contests, we're still thinking about some ideas and would love to hear yours! We will be sure to decide and announce the contests several months ahead of time, so that people will have a chance to work on their entries.

We are very close to being able to announce some of our Guests of Honor, so watch this thread in the next few weeks for more exciting announcements.

I can't tell everyone how excited I am to see them at Dollectable 2008!:D

Can't wait to see you all there. :)

    36. Yah!! I'm going with my frined!!!
      If I solve this problme
(I forgot to send registration info with my paypal.)

    37. You can email it to [email protected] Glad that you can make it!:D

    38. My DH and I will be coming in a little early and leaving a little late so we can do some city-wandering and re-visit some of the places we enjoyed when we were there for yaoicon-2006. We will probably pass in the halls! *laughs*

    39. Yayy, the Bakayaro Family is coming back to visit! <3 It will be nice to see you & the crew again.

While you're all pre-registering, everybody start thinking about whether you'd like to take any time to volunteer at Dollectable... in exchange for partial-to-full refunds of your registration fee. We've got some odd jobs to fill, and none of them involve rocket science or heavy lifting. Please check out our informational announcement here:
      http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?t=187938

I will be your faithful Volunteer Coordinator, so please feel free to contact me at [email protected] with any questions.
(*PM me here if you can't get through to the email address-- it's got a persnickety spam filter-- or if my replies aren't getting to you.)

    40. Pass in the halls! We should hangout or we'll at least say hello :D

    41. I am so glad the troubles of last year didn't scare you off. It was great meeting you and I hope this year is a little smoother. :)

    42. ooh i SOO want to go! The airfare wont be too much, my bf works for American Airlines so we get uber cheap tickets, but the hotel and cost of badge and food, and well... i'm sure i'm gonna buy LOTS of stuff. *sigh* Monies.

I'm hoping to volunteer to at least save on that side of it. *crosses fingers* I hope I get picked.

Still I'm excited at the prospect of going. ^_^

    43. I am so bummed... I can either go to this in SF where I live or I can go to a dance workshop for 2 weeks in New York City... It is terrible when various interests clash! decisions decisions...

    44. I'm so happy to see people excited about the convention this year! I thought I would update all of you on the vendors that we have so far!

We only have 10 regular vendor tables and 6 Artist Alley spots left - so if you were thinking about vending at Dollectable, you should try to reserve your spots soon!

Boy, I can already tell that I need to purchase my return ticket before I go because I am really tempted to spend everything I own. *_*

    45. W00t! Lookit that vendor list!! Start saving up those pennies from behind the couch cushions!

    46. Well now. I may have to brign more cash than I had originally anticipated... XD!

    47. oh ! sounds like fun ! hope to be able to go maybe next year. I have most of this year's free money budgeted already :(

    48. I'm definitely going to have to prioritize for this D: I need to buy my Bada a body before the event, and perhaps an outfit... Unless I find something for him their xDD Ugh, it sucks being 15. Job's aren't easy to find :x

    49. I'm curious - what were the attendance numbers from last year, if you don't mind giving out that info?

    50. Don't mind at all.:) There were about 300 attendees last year and we're projecting that there will be at least that many and probably quite a bit more this year. Glad that you can make it again!:D

    51. Just a question about booth set-up. Since the floor plan says 8x8 booths may we set-up booth style by sliding the alotted table back and bring a second small table in to use in a booth set-up? I also have a backdrop for my booth. Is that permitted in the set-up?
Is there any skirtting/draping between or behind the booths?
I'll be bring period costumes done in all silk and a few other goodies to the show. Hope some will be in the mood for French delights.

      Thanks
      ChinaMoon

    52. Hee~! Brennil - do you mean to ask - how many attendees will have wee Limho boys that desperately need cool Brennil clothing????? Cuz, there will be at least one - me!!!

    53. Me too! in fact I just got some clothes from her and my boy is stylin!

I need to save some money cos I know I will be spending a lot O_____O

    54. Oh my! I best get to sewin'

      ;)

    55. Hopefully, Liz will weigh in on this, because she has a better grasp of the dealers room layout, however, unfortunately, I don't think that it would work to push your table back, because it would block the center passageway for the other dealers. Backdrops are just fine though, but there won't be any skirting or draping between the booths. One thing I found when selling at the LA Dolpa was that if the dealers on either side of me had tall display units at the end of their tables, it would block my mostly table-level display from people walking by, so I'm sure that your fellow dealers would appreciate it if your displays weren't too large or obscuring.

I'm really looking forward to seeing your clothes! Silk period costumes sound like just the things I'd love for my girls!:D

    56. Ok *cracks knuckles* :)

You can take up whatever space you like in your 8x8 booth. That means you can bring extra tables and chairs if you like. Your booth *HAS* to stay inside that 8x8 space though and can't go into the aisle. The booth will come with the two chairs, a table and table dressing, but that's it. There won't be any backdrops or dividers between the booths themselves. You are more than welcome to bring these things as long as they aren't harmful to the hotel's things.

We actually recommend that you bring some lamps to display your stuff under as hotel lighting is terrible and not at all helpful to the purchasing process. We can't change the lighting in the room (sadly).

If you need power hook-ups in order to run these lights, you will have to order them from me atleast a month before the convention.

Please feel free to ask any other questions! :)

    57. Does this mean that there is still a separate space for a walkway between the booths in between the 8x8 allotments? My concern, as a vendor in the very middle of a row, is that other vendors will have to use part of our booth space as a walkway in order to get around someone occupying the entirety of their own space. It was already a bit chaotic last time without that kind of setup. :sweat
Also, are we allowed to bring our own power cords for lighting?

    58. Well technically there wasn't a walkway last year, it's just that people didn't use that space so there was an artificial walkway. If people are using up all of their booth space, then my guess is that they will be out front of their booths. Also, the tables we provide also don't take up all of the booth. There should be plenty of space to move around either side.

Really, I have no idea until I get to the hotel and see how they end up setting it up. I asked for one thing last year, and got something different. Luckily it was pretty close to what I asked for. If we need to figure out a walk way of some sort, then we'll figure that out before opening when we have the tables and the booths set-up.

I think it's pretty sucky for us to say that you'll get 64 sq ft of space but then only allow you 40 or something. =/

As far as power cords, I think I'll let Kelly field this one. I don't know what her arrangement with the hotel is, I just know that those prices on the site are what we were given for those "extras" and most hotels put it in their contract that we have to rent their equipment instead of using our own. Kelly would know better about the arrangement we have with *this* hotel though.

    59. I'd also like to know what you get with the electricity add on. One plug in? Two?

    60. Planning a road trip from Canada to this event. :)
      Hopefully all goes well! :aheartbea
