1. well I am almost 100% definate of going. XD Getting plane tickets here in the next few monthes :D *does a dance!*

For anyone who attended last year, or if anyone will know about this year? About how many vendors accepted credit cards? I am thinking about just paying all my credit cards off and going with spending money on just those so I don't go nuts XD hehe.

2. It would be so very spiffy to see you there-- one of the great things about last year was that it was very much like one very BIG meet-up, being able to put faces to all of the names that we know through the forums.

As for last year, many of the sellers were accepting credit cards, though via fairly low-tech means (remember those carbon copy swipe things?) Some were able to have customers paying through paypal on a laptop, but by and large, the best way to get smaller-ticket items was with cash. no fuss, no muss. (I wound up having to send one vendor money via paypal anyway, once I got home, because her carbon-copy thing hadn't worked and she couldn't read my card info, but she was VERY polite and helpful about it all.)

I'm not ENTIRELY sure that this was because of the venue or what, so it is possible that more vendors will be able to take cards this coming year as we will be at a different location. I'm sure that there are better people to answer that question for certain than I am. Bear in mind that there were also 'artist-vendors' there, who were not really equipped to accept anything other than cash, so having the green stuff on hand is a definite plus. Especially if there's another swap meet...

3. thanks so much ancatsidhe :D!! I'll remember that ^______^ It would be so steller to see you there! (I so definatly still have my fishy purse, as does my Unoa <333 hehe!)

*does a *I'm going to Dollectable dance?* I did all the math, and I can afford to go, have credit cards paid off and dolls paid off. :D I am MOST please :P!!

4. I'm so glad that so many of you can make it! It's going to be a great con!

For the credit card situation, this year, there was a last minute internet problem in the dealers room that prevented a lot of vendors from taking credit cards electronically. However, this year, I've already talked to the hotel about the situation and we're going to make sure that next year the vendors who want to accept credit cards will be able to.

5. And wireless access for your tireless Dealer's Room Staff, yes? yes?

6. The June date of this year's con conflicted with class finals, so even before transit expenses came into question it wasn't possible. The new July dates make this an actual possibility for me! I'm not positive yet if I'll be able to go, but things are looking good. I couldn't be more psyched. :]

7. I'm going to try to come! I've always wanted to visit San Francisco, and I'm an old-time science-fiction con-goer, so as soon as I got interested in ABJDs I started looking around for conventions (we need one in Chicago or someplace close to me!) July, fortunately, is plenty far ahead to plan and save. Thanks for the early heads-up about this!

8. Registration is now open! Please see the announcement in my news post.

We’re having an early-bird special – the first 25 people can register for only $40 and will receive a special thank-you gift at the con. This is to help us jump-start our fund for the deposit for the hotel, so we really appreciate your help!:D

9. Kellyhime, sorry, I'm new to this whole con thing so I'm not sure how exactly it works. If someone's thinking of having a table in the vendors room, do they still pay the "normal" registration for Dollectable as well? ._. Sorry, I'm a bit uninformed about how these things work. (I ask because my girlfriend feral5 makes clothing, and was seriously considering trying to get a table at Dollectable this year, but we're not quite sure how to go about these things.)

10. Just discovered a minor problem with our website instructions. The instructions on our website say to enter your information in the Paypal textbox, but we just found out that there is no textbox with the payment format we are using. Until we can get the website updated, please send your payment via the Paypal link on the website and then send your registration information to [email protected] Thanks so much!

sleep_pattern - We should have the info for vendors up sometime next week, but I believe that vendors do not have to register separately for the con.:)

11. since i've got some family up there (i'm in SoCal), i'm going to have to visit them sometime soon and say hi... well at least for 1 day or so.. and this makes for a good excuse. >3

i just registered, and i'm looking to find carpooling buddies and/or roomies!
i'm willing to drive since i've done it so many times and know all.. um, except the last 2 hours near the end of the trip up the way (google earth n mapquest here i come).

pm me!!

12. I really want to go, and I am kind of interested in becoming a vendor, but it depends on price (and my financial situation.) :sweat

What is the going rate for a vendor table? :)

Thaaaanks~

~Anrui

13. :sweat I'm afraid that I'm not sure, since Lizzegirle takes care of the vendors, but she's going to have the information up next week.

14. The mystery is solved! Please note that while it's a little difficult to spot, there is a link on the Paypal payment page that you need to click to add your registration information. There is a screencap of it here.

15. well, theres no way in hell for me to back out now. XD;; Just went ahead and purchased plane tickets o____o I know, far in advance... but its one less thign to worry about when the time comes, yah?

Mmm... paycheck will be in tomorrow and I'll be fetching my registration then. :D! EEK! *excited!*

*Clings to her roomate/ flightmate/ most wonderful friend ever* ;___; MEW! WE ARE SO GOING TO DOLLECTABLE LIKE WOW!

16. Wow, syndal, now that is dedication! Plane tickets in October for a July convention! ^^
You guys all rock so hard, flying out here from such farflung places, just to come play dollies with us. :)

17. hehe. I wanted to make sure i had the money for the tickets. XD;;; so I figure buying them in advance makes sure I get my happy self on out there, yah know? :P;; hehe. *does a dance?* XD

18. That's great that you're planning so far ahead and I can't wait to meet you and everyone there!:D

19. hehe. ^__________^ I wanted to be sure, for myself, that there was no way i could back out if it. XD *giggles* I am so excited for the con. :D! *does a 10month wait jig* ;p

20. Haha, don't worry Syndal, I'll be doing the ten month jig with you soon. As soon as the gf and I have the money we're going to go harrass her mom (who's a travel agent) to find us some "inexpensive" tickets out to Cali for that weekend.

21. hehe sounds super :D I am absolutly ecsatic to go and meet more BJD lovers... see the workshops and of course buy far more than I need to. XD *laughes* I am going to try and hold out buying to much doll stuff till the convention actually... so I can just go and buy until my little heart burns out. XD!

22. A big, big thank-you to everyone who registered early to help us reach our deposit for the hotel!!!:D :aheartbea

We had a little trouble getting the website and shopping cart updated, so a few got to slip by for the $40 promotion beyond the first 25. We have our first 25 registrations now, but prereg is still available for only $45 ($22.50 for youth) until December 31, 2007. Plus, the first 100 registrants get to come to the Friday evening cocktail party, so be sure to register soon!

We should also have the hotel reservation situation squared away by the end of the week and I will let everyone know as soon as they can start making reservations.:)

23. Kellyhime, for the cocktail party, do you know if vendors are able to attend as well, or is that information someone else would have? (Sorry for being such a pain in your butt with all my questions. ;_; lol)

24. Whoot, this sounds so awesome! ^_^ I'm really new to this hobby (I have a doll and a half at the moment, lol), but what better way to meet people than this?? *starts saving* XD

*goes off to register* And I'll be waiting to hear when we can reserve a room at the Inn ^__^

Cheers to everyone going to Dollectable 2008!! :D

25. Woot, I'll be coming with Bluechan! I just registered and can't wait to buy/make cocktail outfits for my boys, lol. I can't wait to hear more info on events! I'd love to go to a workshop that teaches faceups! :fangirl:

26. sleep_pattern - Let me ask Liz, but I'm pretty sure that vendors came to the cocktail party last year.

Bluechan - So glad that you can make it!:D

Lazulistar - We're definitely going to have more faceup workshops next year.

27. Thanks so much Kellyhime! :3

Face-up workshops? I didn't know they'd done those at Dollectable this year, anyone know who taught this year? Are the teachers volunteers or invited by the Dollectable staff?

28. The teachers are volunteers that we either invited or contacted us because they were interested in doing a workshop. If anyone is interested in holding a workshop we would love to hear from you :)

I cannot remember exactly who did the face-up workshops as I wasn't able to attend those but Kelly or Liz would likely remember :)

29. We actually only had one wonderful faceup panel done by the fabulous Kallisti, but hope to have her and several other artists demonstrate their techniques this year. The panelist are all volunteers, but some were invited by the staff. I'll be posting a call for program suggestions in a few weeks, so keep an eye out for it.

30. Any word on vendor registration info yet? :sweat

31. I would love to be able to ttend next year! Unfortunately, it is highly unlikely, seeing as how I live in Alabama T^T

I will talk to my parents..... I am giving them a year to decide if I can go XD

32. Liz should have it up this week.:sweat

Yunabug - I hope that you can make it too!:)

33. im currently 17 but i turn 18 basically a month before the convention, so if i register now at 17, would i still have to attend with a parent at the convention even though i'd be 18? x___x

34. Since you'll be 18 at the time of the convention, you will need to register as an adult. Otherwise, you would need to have an adult registration accompanying your youth registration.:)

35. Reservations are now open for the Dollectable convention hotel, Holiday Inn Golden Gateway. As mentioned earlier, we have the amazing rate of only $149 per night guaranteed for 100 rooms on Friday and Saturday night. Plus, for those of you who also want to make a San Francisco vacation of your trip, you can get this same rate for two days before and two days after the convention. However, these rooms could go quickly, so it is highly recommended that you make your reservation as early as possible.

As a special incentive to get attendees to stay in the convention hotel, all attendees staying at the hotel will be able to enter the Dealers Room one hour earlier on Saturday morning – you will just need to show your room’s cardkey to get in early. Dollectable has had to guarantee the hotel that we will fill 80% of our contracted 200 room nights or we will have to cover the difference, so your staying at the hotel really helps us and we want to show you how much we appreciate it.

Reservations can be made at the following website: http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/hi...Year=062008&checkOutDate=20&_requestid=527832

If you plan to stay beyond Friday and Saturday night, it is advised that you call the hotel to make sure that you get the same convention rates: (415) 441-4000 and mention booking code "SDO".

Please feel free to email me at [email protected] if you have any questions and I will be sure to pass them on to the hotel, if I can’t answer them right away.

Also in Dollectable news, now that the hotel situation is settled, we are switching into high gear for programming. We are already working to line up two very special guests – one from Korea and the other from Hong Kong (we’ll leave you to speculate for now ^_~) – and are also ready to start taking programming proposals from you. I will do a more formal call for programs in a couple of days, but if you have any ideas, please email me at the address above.

For the vendors, Lizzegirle is working away at getting the application, room map and rates posted for you. Please email her at [email protected] if you have any questions.

There are still a few places left for the first 100 registrations, so be sure to register soon so that you can get in on the fun Friday night cocktail party. Looking forward to seeing you all there!

36. We just got our hotel reservations!

I hope you have poked sdink some about a faceup panel. I know I have been applying a digital index finger every once in a while! *laughs*

37. Yay!:D

She has been poked and signed on!:sumomo:

38. hOMG! *SQWEEE to the above comment* i can't wait to go and see you all there and go to the panels. *sqweeflails*

o yah!! does anyone need a roommate? and before i forget, if anyone is planning to travel by car from the LA or OC area, i want to let you know that i'm willing to carpool and/or caravan up. =^w^=

39. Just registered and made hotel reservations! I'm so excited! ^_^

How do we know if we were in the first 100 registered? It'd be so much fun to go to the party friday. :)

40. That's great! It's really exciting for me to see so many people coming from so far away. I can't wait to meet you all!:D

I'll make an announcement when we are getting close to filling the first 100, so don't worry, you are okay.

41. Currently, I'm 15 ((will be 16 by the con))
I will need an adult to accompany me, but sadly, neither of my parents
are the least bit interested in BJD's D: Is it still possible for me to stay
in the convention center without an adult 24/7?

42. If your parents are game, I could keep an eye on you. This is Nytie, Aurora's mom.

43. If you can get a written consent from her parents that should be fine. Thanks!:)

44. Hahaha~! !
I'm a boy.
But my parents shouldn't have a problem with that, as long as either get to meet you [Nytie] as I'm getting dropped off :3

45. Question: I bought tickets for two and I included both of our information. Is that right? I mean was I just supposed to include mine or does it not matter? For future reference if I can get my other friends to come.

46. :sweat Sorry! Now I remember you from the Swan Lake meet-up.:)

V chan -- So glad that you can make it! That was perfect to give both sets of info, because we will need them for badges. Thanks so much!:D

47. Thank you, for getting back to me so quick. I hope I get a chance to meet you even tho I'm sure you're going to be super busy.

48. I've heard nothing but good things about this convention, so if I can get the time off, I'm planning on attending this event. I have to wait until we have the vacation "lottery" at work.

I'll probably stay at the con hotel by myself (I did the poll already), since I've done the ten-people-to-a-room thing at Anime Expo this year. A unique experience to say the least, but one that I don't care to relive anytime in the near future...

TC

49. I hope that you can make it!

The rooms at the hotel are really nice. I keep forgetting to mention that they all have fabulous views, because the hotel is the tallest building for blocks around.:)

50. ZOMG! why does everything cool and dollie related have to be in Cali!? Id love to be able to buy my Volks Kun in person...AND go to an awesome dollie convention...but its so far away for someone like me who has never done such a thing before...and the money...and uh...getting lost in a place ive never been too doesnt tickle my fancy. But i really want to go. i want to meet some really cool peoples...

But...*waffles* so far away from my sleepy little town in florida!

51. I'm so excited for this! I convinced my mom to to take me as a sixteenth birthday celebration. It was either Dollectable or The Cure live in LA. Though it was a tough decision, I figure this is going to be WAY more fun. xD

52. Hehe, hotel room is all reserved and admission all paid for! :D Weee, I can't wait to go! ^_______________^

Kittywolf13: :D V chan and I are going and we're from sleepy towns in Florida! (well, I am XD;; Shes in Orlando hehe!) :D! You could always hang out with us. ^^!

53. Eee! the temptation! Where are you from? I'm from naples!

54. Hehe, I'm in Brooksville. :D! *tempts tempts*

55. It's all one big happy dolly community... and therefore not at all like you wouldn't know ANYONE. After all, this crew is going and we're locals (mostlykinda).

Still very much looking forward to going. Sure, it's over six months away, but we're registered, and last I heard, we had a hotel room to boot! We're also waiting eagerly to hear about signing up for vendor tables this year (which means I should probably get back to my sewing machine NOW).

56. my initial responce was "WTH is Brooksville!?" being the map geek that i am...promptly ran off to google earth...its nearby tampa...so your close-ish to me!!

Oooh now you guys are really tempting me!! XD

I think i'll be up in sarasota this weekend too! at least for a little while on saturday. for a small meet up.

Id love to go meet yah guys anyways!

57. Hehe, spiffy ^^ We may have to arrange a meetup sometime soon then! :D I usually work or spend time with the boyfriend on weekends, so we'd have to work something special out for that *laughes*

But yes. :D Bumps for the convention!! Who else is planning on going? :) I can't wait o___________o I am going to buy until my little heart bursts! >D

58. we totally should meet up. im free any weekend unless something comes up. i work for the goverment so i have a typical pain in the butt 8-5 job. -_-;

59. So does anyone know for sure about the parking situation? I don't live far away, but I definitely don't want to take a bus with my dolls. But I'm hoping it's not too expensive to park at the hotel if I'm not staying there, either!

Also, if there IS parking, I'm happy to offer carpooling from Sonoma/Marin for at least one day to anyone interested!

60. Holy moly...

I just realized that this hotel is literally about three or four blocks from my apartment XD

It's VERY close to my wedding, but at that close of a proximity, I think that I can convince Sweetie to do something ridiculously frivolous...I only need to check some logistical stuff...
