    1. I had soo much fun! I was with the girl with the pipos bao(The fox) We got so much stuff...

To top my day off i got to take a picture of voldemort! That was awsome. (But aperantly the cost of a picture was a soul....so yeah)

It was just a lot of fun and i loved meeting every one! I'll hopefully see you all next year!

    2. I wanted to say I had a great time with everyone! I was the girl with the Sunlight f-38, and I fun taking purikura photos, riding on the insane bus, and eating at a good japanese resturaunt with Seji, Saru, Tsuki and many more! (if you were there with us just send a PM )

The con was a huge hit and I hope to see it again next year!

    3. I had an awesome time, everyone! It was so nice to meet so many new people, and make some new friends! I had a great time at the con, and a blast at Japantown; eating lunch, taking purikura photos, and talking with all those interested on-lookers! [Although, the old ladies on the bus were the best lol]

      PS-I was the girl who's Shiwoo kept mooning everyone xD;;

    4. Fun, fun day! I already did too much shopping - my arms were killing me by the time I got back to my hotel! Guess I shouldn't have brought 3 dolls - maybe I'll just bring one tomorrow. But so hard to decide which one!

    5. Aww thank-you, Well hopefully Strawberry and Soo Yun will be going out today to have pictures taken. After seeing two of your bjds yesterday, i am actually thinking of getting a 70cm male bjd, i'll have to wait though. It's sounds like you and your fiance are going to be busy preparing for your wedding, especially with your dress, his suit and all of your bjd's outfits. I am actually going to college in the fall to begin my degree in fashion so that i can along with my mum create bjd outfits.

I think i met you yesterday, did you have the bao wearing the kimono? because if you did, i was the hoodie wearing girl who had the Strawberry Ringo wearing a "strawberry" outfit. Anyway did you see Snape? :D I didn't take a picture but he was absolutely awesome. I wish i gotten to see both Voldermort and Lucius Malfoy.

    6. Yup that was us! I got a pic of snape as a last minute going out the door pic, (We had to leave), We need a thread to post pictures up....I think i reconize you...(There we're so many people it was heard to keep track...

    7. I definitely did you meet you, there were so many people that i met yesterday so trying to keep track of who i met is so hard  , we actually left at 3pm yesterday because we were about 2 hrs away from SF, so we had to leave. I saw Snape earlier on in the day and then just before i left. We do actually need a thread to post pictures up, So i've started a thread for people to post pictures.

    8. No worries :) I had to wait a while to get my first big boy, but he was definitely worth it. Nearly three years later and seven other dolls later and today I was looking at him and realizing just how awesome he still is :) Good luck on that someday!

    9. Just got home from Day 2 at Dollectible...lucky me because I am close to the con, but not so lucky because it was an uphill trek!

Anyway, I wanted to jump in and thank everyone who helped put Dollectible together for a second year in a row. I remember, very early on, when most of the people who moved forth to build the con were having the very first conversation about even the mere name of the con, and while I didn't end up moving forward with being fully involved as staff/volunteer/whatever, I am very happy that it resulted in a convention I've been able to attend both times. The great part was to be able to see the convention grow and see the improvements that came after the first time around.

So yes, a big thank you! :D And a thank you to everyone I got to chat with, even briefly :)

    10. Dollectable was fun for me. Yo-Joe was there for a day and I was holding Cosette. Thanks to White Rose Assassin for getting the head I needed and for putting up with "Operation Killjoy" Sunday.

The video of Traveling Valentine's Dollectable Video contest entry can be seen here:

    11. I, too, want to post my thanks to everyone for such a wonderful con! I want to especially thank everyone who was in the dealer's room on Sunday afternoon for singing 'Happy Birthday' to me. I really can't think of a better way that I could have spent my day!

      Here's looking towards next year!

    12. Quick question: In the room where the Steampunk costume contest was, what was the doll line on display that wasn't Elf Doll?

    13. AH! Thank god you made is home safely!! :aheartbea I was so worried that you had to take the bus and I jacked your ride home. OTL;;;!!!! *hugs* That's good. >w<

      I shall do! I need to resize and fix them up tonight. I signed up on Flickr so that'll be good than posting outrageous amounts of photos. :'D;;;

It was so much fun with you guys. >w< I'm so happy to leave close by. I made lots of great friends and had such a blast. :D THANK YOU DOLLECTABLES FOR BEING NEAR TO US BAY AREAIANS. *SHOT*

@Insane-chan - XD THERE YOU ARE. :aheartbea

    14. Just got home and clean up everything!!!
It is very nice to be there with you guys!! :)
Having alot of fun and meeting alot of people!
Me and my child are having alot of funs.

BTW, since I'm new at DOA and I can't see things on Marketplace yet, I'll be posting our item on ebay. My ebay ID is Mizuki801

      Can't wait for next year's event!!:love

    15. What a wonderful time! It was great seeing dear friends we haven't seen in two years, meeting live journal friends face-to-face for the first time, running into people we knew from out-of-state cons here and meeting lots of brand-new faces, too!

A large THANK YOU to the all the Dollectable organizers, staff and volunteers for making this a memorial experience! And a special thank you to the patient live bishie dolls for letting us dress them up in catsuits, loligoth and kimono.

We took advantage of some of the local food places listed, too! The location of the con was excellent!

So we have almost two days left in SF and naturally, things we wanted to visit are closed on Mondays, so Monday we will be off to the pier for sightseeing, touristy stuff and gifts for everyone at home.

      Wishing everyone safe journeys home!

    16. The convention was so much fun. It was so nice to be around so many wonderful people and beautiful dolls. I only went saturday, next year I am gong to stay for the whole weekend.
I forgot to bring my camera, not that it would take any good indoor photos, so I have no photos to share :(

    17. I want to add my thanks to the folks that co-ordinated this event. Had a great time and I was really impressed with the variety of workshops. The talent displayed in the contest entires was fabulous. The swap meet is always so much fun - thanks again for a wonderful con.

    18. Is this were we post our convention 'stories'? I had so much fun. I loved meeting everyone while I worked my booth. First time I have ever had a booth. Thanks for all the complements on my Voldemort and Snape. Entry #1 at the costume contest was mine (it took 2nd place), it was the one with the erector set backdrop, and I called 'Squashing the Butterfly'. I'll also be post my Video contest entry abit later today, but I'm abit out of it right now.

We had a caravan of three cars to and from the convention, which was alot of fun. So we had a full car. I decided to just have Snape sitting ontop of the bags, vs trying to get to the bag and put him away. We were driving home last night, and I'm driving the last car, my little kia rio (it's an awsome car), when a semi truck decided it liked my lane better then it's own. I moved us towards the left side shoulder but the truck kept coming at us (the truck ran us off the road), and we ended up into the dirt of the divide. Skidded along side ways, spun around twice, then I remembered breaks and stopped the car.

Checked that Mr. Postman and Jane were okay, then looked into the review mirror checking that Snape was okay (he was). But wow am I dolly geek. We got onto the walkytalky to let car 1 know what happened. Checked the car, and it was okay (bunch of dirt in the wheel wells but that's it). Let the other cars that stopped to check on us know we were okay, and went on our way. Was suprised how calm we were when this all happened, but we seriouslly could have died. If I had slammed on the brakes we would have flipped. I was also thankful that it didn't happen to the 2 suvs in the caravan, the low center of gravity of the car also helped us (I love my car!). The semi-truck didn't even bother to stop. So yeah, that's my convention story. If anyone else saw the major dust cloud on the 5 just south of the 580, that was us.

      -Anneke

    19. wow! Thank god your ok! What a jerk didnt even stop to check on you...

    20. I had so much fun! I'm really looking forward to next year for Gogadoll!

Anyway, I loved meeting everyone, even though I can't remember a single new name now.

Kellyhime, your panel on doll kimonos was awesome! I really enjoyed it. And you did a great job at being co-chair. Um, and your other co-chair was awesome, but I totally forgot her name.

Mie'aga, I learned soooo much from your extreme mods panel. Loved it. I wish I could have stayed to play with the paperclay.

AJ and Judy, I never figured out which was which, but the pattern drafting class was great! And I'm really inspired by the hatmaking stuff as well. I honestly thought it would be far more complicated than that.

    21. Glad you liked it! It's nice to hear I did good:)

    22. Wow! Just, wow! I can't thank everyone who attended, volunteered, taught, sold and staffed enough! Even though I was running around like crazy most of the time and still feel wiped out now, I had a fantastic time and am already making plans for next year. I can't wait to see you all again at GoGaDoll '09!!!

    23. Hey, Kelly, did y'all ever get a final count on the attendees?

    24. Not yet -- our treasurer has all our paperwork, but I'm sure that he'll give us a total later this week.:)

    25. A big thank you to all of you who worked so hard so we could have such a great time! I haven't seen so many bjd dolls before in person. I was awestruck! :)

I couldn't stay for the closing - would it be possible to have you post who won the various contests (like steampunk costume, etc)? Thank you so much!

    26. I only got to go on Sunday, but it was SO much fun! It was my first time attending and my aunt came along too so she could learn more about BJDs in general ( btw, thanks to those who did the hat-making and wig construction panel, I missed them but I aunt enjoyed them so I'm really happy about that ^^ ). I'm really hoping to attend all of GoGaDoll next year and bring along my BJD friend as well~<3

Thanks again for such a wonderful time!

    27. I meant to ask about that..is GoGaDoll the "next step" of Dollectible?

    28. Yes it is! We're working on improving things even more, and part of that process is changing the convention name to GoGaDoll! I'm excited about it.

Just want to say thank you to all the Vendors who worked so hard to make their displays unique and brought their products from so far away (I think that the ones from New Zealand probably came the farthest, though Dollheart had quite a trip from China, too)! You all did an excellent job. I hope my occasional bellowed announcements through the Vendor's Hall about Door Prize winners and special events and such weren't too distressing. ;)

Also, an extra special thank you to all the attendees and volunteers. Without you, this convention couldn't happen, and it certainly wouldn't be the wonderful experience that it was for all of us.

See you all next year - at GoGaDoll '09!

    29. GoGaDoll certainly has developed out of Dollectable, but it's going in more of a new direction than a next step. The Golden Gate Ball Jointed Doll Association will be a non-profit organization whose focus will be educational and philanthropic. BJD collectors have so much knowledge to share and so much energy to draw upon to help others and GoGaDoll is one of the events that we will organize to be able to focus these resources. GoGaDoll will be run by the majority of the same local people who made Dollectable such a success and we're planning even bigger and better things for GoGaDoll!

Unfortunately, Lizzegirle, the founder of Dollectable, has moved from San Francisco to Austin and while she did a huge amount of much appreciated work for Dollectable this year from a long distance, she's decided to work closer to home in the future and to retain the name. She'll definitely be missed here though.:(

We'll be making more announcements about GoGaDoll 2009 soon, so stay tuned!:)

    30. I had such a great time, thanks to everyone who stopped by and said hi, and to all my wonderful customers, who helped me turn a profit this year!

And everyone say a prayer that my lost checked luggage gets home soon, the D.I.M head I won is in one of the bags. :sweat

    31. Just wanted to say thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make the weekend a success. I had a great time(spent too much money, but, oh well). Came home with some gorgeous dolls, great clothes, etc. Looking forward to next year. Thanks again.

    32. For those who want to see my video, it's up at my website:

      http://www.bakadeshiproductions.com/

This would be the video called 'The Graveyard' that suffered from technical diffeculties and could barely be seen, due to ending up playing it off the laptop. I made the video as an example of the next step in BJD videos. So I hope you guys enjoy it. It is a Mpeg-4 AVI video, so you may need a proper codex, I'll see about uploading a version of the video that uses a more common codex tonight or tomorrow.

      -Anneke

    33. They found my bags! I should have them this afternoon. :)

    34. Mom & I had tons of fun... and spent FAR MORE money than we should have. I'll probably get some photos up in the Dollectable photo thread later tonight. :)

    35. I am so, so pleased to hear that people had fun at Dollectable. I know I did!

I was at the Registration desk pretty much for the weekend, so in a certain way I met almost everyone! :kitty1 Thank you ALL so much for coming and making Dollectable such a wonderful event.

Thanks, too, to the marvelous, friendly, and gracious guests of honor; to the volunteers, who were just stellar; to the courteous and tireless Security Team; and to my fellow staff members, who displayed incredible grace under pressure.

I'll look forward to meeting EVERYBODY! AGAIN! at the Reg desk at GoGaDoll 2009...! :celebrate

    36. This was my first year at Dollectable. I have to say, I really enjoyed the workshops. I found that attending the smaller ones was the best way to get to know other collectors, since I am a bit shy about just going up to strangers and introducing myself.

It was fabulous spending three-plus days with other collectors who were there mainly out of love for their dolls. The coordinators and organizers did a fantastic job, much of it behind the scenes where it may have gone unseen, but was never un-appreciated. Thanks so much to all for making this a great and enjoyable event.

Here is a link to my entry in the video contest. It's hosted at my site, dramadoll.com. The original file was massive, so I re-saved it for ease of downloading; on broadband it should only take a minute or two before you can watch. The song it is based upon was a constant source of amusement to me as I worked on it, and once again my dolls expressed themselves in almost-human fashion and gave me more than I ever dared to expect.

    37. This year was definitely a complete blast for me! I even got my second doll (the fifth in my household), who is a 60cm Dollzone Celine (unnamed. Name and pictures will be forthcoming). The Yaoi event on Saturday and Yuri event, earlier that same day, were total blasts for me as well and gave me some new ideas of ways to use the dolls as a creative outlet (har har har). A great time, for sure!

      -Leishu (also, Goth Kitti)

PS: I loved your video, Jill in WV. Plus, Brad Paisley happens to be a guilty pleasure of mine, which made it all the better. :D

    38. Hey, you lucky "Ball Jointed Boy Dress-Up" raffle winners at the yaoi panel on Saturday will all remember Leishu in his metallic red catsuit, right? Riiight! Who could forget? :aheartbea Ladies and gentlemen, a big round of Thank-You Applause also goes out to our trio of beautiful stouthearted all-American bishonen (GothKitti, BiBoy, & Dante) for consenting to be stripped, painted, muscled around like toys, and dressed in shiny things JUST for our amusement! Bravo, you lads.

And bravo to you fearless night-owls who came to the yaoi panel, too. I wasn't expecting quite such a crowd! Kelly, Mercy & and I should've worn ringmaster costumes... (Hey you guys, idea for next year... ^^) I hope everyone enjoyed it in good fun, whether you just came for the picture-show or stayed for the prizes. And if you've been at all inspired to go make your own homebrewed dollyboylove, remember to go sign up for ControversialDoll (be 18+) and show me what you've got: I'm always on the lookout for next year's slideshow stars! Art never rests.

I feel like a total nimrod for (a) forgetting my camera at the cocktail party on Friday, and (b) when I did remember my camera on Saturday, being too busy to take a single solitary picture. :sweat Minding the volunteer-staffing kept me on my pointy little toes all day and most of the evening too. But there I was at the end of the front table, next to Strangeangels & Green_judy, talking to as many random people as humanly possible but not getting pictures of any of you. I feel terrible for not being able to contribute to the photo thread-- but I know I got to meet & chat with a whole lot of you that I'd never met before. And how cool was that?

And to my faithful volunteers, who showed up and stood in hotel hallways doing arcane jobs just because I asked them to: [IMG] A volunteer-militia convention force is nothing without the enthusiasm of its volunteers, and you guys were awesome! Profuse thanks to you all, for helping bring this smashing circus of an event to the BJD community. I will probably end up heading the volunteer department for GoGaDoll '09 too, so if anyone wants to get involved, stay tuned for next year.

(PS: There are some of you volunteers who still have to come claim your reimbursements from me, so I'll be contacting you directly-- please keep an eye on your inboxes & Spam-folders for my emails!)

    39. Despite feeling "under the weather", I still had a quite enjoyable time. I had to miss a couple of panels that I wanted to attend, but the ones I did get a chance to go to, were excellent. Looking forward to GoGaDoll next year, and even Madame Dragonfly is planning on attending. Since she was a native from the area, she wants to come up for an extra day or two, to do some sightseeing and to reminiscence. Also, It was great to be able to meet-up with my NorCal BJD/Cosplay Peeps. Hope you can make it down to Anime Los Angeles. or perhaps LADolpa (if they have it this year).

    40. Just popping in to echo what an awesome time I had at the con. :) The vendors in the hall were all incredibly awesome, and I still can't believe all the stuff Leishu and I had to cram into our bags before flying home. :D We've enough to outfit all the dolls we have and then some now.

Part of it was luck, but I'm incredibly grateful to have won a door prize, assorted raffle things, and the last Dollheart outfit at the closing ceremonies. Dollectable certainly didn't skimp on the goodies, and I think I'm still a little floored at the generosity of the companies who donated. I can't wait for next year. :D

    41. So my husband shouts "hay liz, you have to come read this...." It was another web comic.
I read it and had to post it here! Who ever you are dear, your right, no jury in the world would convict. ;) This comic has more "my life" moments than any other....usually very funny and this one was right on target.
Link to the orginal comic here: Credit where credit is due! :)
      http://www.reallifecomics.com/

so sorry I missed this convention but I'm on the east coast and the cost of a flight sort put any thoughts of going to rest. However congrats are in order! I keep hearing wonderful things about this con.

    42. Really great seeing familiar faces and meeting new people! ^^

I had a great time at Dollectable. Though different from the anime conventions I normally attend, it was all good.

I wish I could have stopped by more panels, but I really liked the pattern drafting one. The EGL event was really fun. Thanks for the Doll Heart outfit. I gave it to GunSmithCat's 60cm Obitsu gal. We also did the video contest, we were the first entry. Enjoyed the Doll Spa 'cause my CH Choa could use some sanding down.

Photos / Report website will be coming shortly. I still have to prep for Comic Con.

    43. My husband has been reading Real Life for years and I never put two and two together until Liz mentioned her husband is the creator at the con, lol.

    44. hahaha!! Got to tell you I love "I'm still a guy"! It makes me laught so hard:XD:

    45. We had a wonderful time at Dollectable. I can't believe it's over! I loved meeting everyone. My baby daughter had a fabulous time, too.

Thanks to everyone who put together this event.

    46. RE: Hey, it was great meeting you during the doll meetup panel, Nell, and thank you for allowing me to join you and your friend for dinner on Saturday. :) If I ever come out to LA, maybe I can join you guys at a doll meetup... should you have one when I show up, that is. :)

    47. You're welcome!
It was nice meeting you and your girls too :)

    48. WOW, did I ever have fun! I want to say thanks for enlightening me on the various sizes of the men dolls, since I only collect girls. It was quite..... interesting.....:D

    49. I'm so late in responding! Between wandering around, attending panels and talking to people about how awesome it would be to have a Bae Young Jun doll, I had a blast!

I have a question to those who were at the Elfdoll panel with Mrs. Cholong:
Do any of you recall if she said when Elfdoll would be releasing the camera hands, and does anyone have a picture of them? (and uh, if they were for a male or female body? they looked like they were fitted for a male, but I couldn't quite tell?) If anyone has any additional information about them, I would greatly appreciate it!

    50. * A REQUEST FROM YOUR INTREPID DONATIONS MANAGER *

For those lucky winners at the Charity Raffle for outfits and especially for dolls, please contact the donors (I tried to include contact cards with each prize) and thank them for their donations!
This will make my job easier in 2009 to get more GOOD STUFF for all you GoGaDoll Convention goers!!!
It was my pleasure to serve in the donations department and especially to have an assistant, Snowleopard, this year. Though I wasn't at the registration desk this time, I got to meet alot of con goers in the Display room and there were so many new faces!
Please come out in full force for our 2009 convention and tell your bjd collecting friends. And if you have a good connection or relationship with any of the asian bjd companies, tell them about GoGaDoll too! Maybe they'll donate a nice item just because you are their good customer!

      Alex

    51. I just sent a small thank you to Dollheart for their donation of the "Fragrant of Flavor: Ceylon" outfit which my girlfriend won and now adorns my Celine. Thanks for the heads up. :D

      JennyNemesis:

I'm very proud to have worked in that small-but-fun corner of Dollectable and hope to do so again, if you guys will have me, for Gogadoll. It was a blast! :D

    52. Hey thanks Leishu! I know Pasu of Dollheart is already back at work and suffering from jetlag, but I'm sure hes grateful for your acknowledgement! And I remember the both of you as two of the 'new people' at the con whom I chatted with in the display room (and thanks for your gf's constructive comments on the con)- in fact, if you'll allow me, I can post a pic here of your gf winning the outfit! And gotta tell you that a few of us were drooling over the Ceylon outfit when we originally unpacked it for the raffle....

      Alex

    53. I'm sure we'd both love to see that picture here! :D

Pictures of Serafina (who it took me an inordinate amount of time to name) in the Ceylon outfit should be forthcoming soon enough. :]

    54. Here it is! I think your gf won a door prize too, didnt she?

      Alex

    55. My blood pressure dropped like a rock when I sat back down, I tell you. :)

And yes, I won the first door prize on Saturday morning, too, so I wound up pretty lucky last weekend. :D

See, I thought I was the one almost dragging Leishu to the con. I came home with a newly minted addict. XD

    56. Just wanted to pass my thanks along as well- I had such an amazing time at Dollectable! The panels were just great, and I really do feel like I took a lot home from the experience (seriously- my suitcases were stuffed to the limit ;) ) Thank-you to everyone who worked so hard to make the convention so fantastic!
I feel especially blessed to have won a doll in the charity raffle (IH Tania), and have sent a note off to Iplehouse to thank them as well.
      I can't wait for next year!! ^_^
