Doll North (May 25-27th 2018) Information & Discussion

Feb 27, 2018

    1. Whoot! Somebody else with a Sugarble naga. Mine, Nassano, is coming with me. This may require a photo since you see these guys rarely in the wild.

    2. What is the one thing you are hoping to find this year at DN? For me it's some more eye bases. Last year I bought some and tried making my own eyes for the first time. I really enjoyed it so I hope I find them again so I can make some more eyes.

    3. I’m really looking forward to going to Canada for the first time, being able to walk around with dolls in my arms, meeting people and seeing vendors in person - no waiting for shipping!!

    4. @Iron_Dog

Oh my gosh, yes please! I'll be dressed in a matching kimono with Takehiko all day during the doll market, so please come see me, I'd love to get pictures of the Naga's together. What head did you get with yours? I got mine with a white tail and the Rudy head, it's a shame they don't produce any of the old models now : ( I would have loved to get an Aiko or Mori as well.

    5. No updates, just here to share in the excitement that Doll North is next weekend *joyful yet panicked screaming*

@Iron_Dog But just think about how toned your arm muscles will be at the end of the convention, SD weight lifting should totally be a thing ^^'

@Fate You can do it! I can't wait to see all the amazing contest entries, there is so much talent in this hobby <3

@Kiotaro If you send an email to [email protected] they can have the error on the website's vendor list corrected for you; I hope you have fun selling in the Doll Market. And how cool that there will be two Nagas at the convention, you and @Iron_Dog definitely need to take photos together, maybe even using the sets/booths!

@Black Widow Hopefully you can find the eye bases you are looking for again! I'm mostly hoping to find a body for my floating Dollfie Dream head plus some wigs for my two tinies (FairyLand Pukipuki and Maskcat Belina) that are harder to get a good fit for. The rest of my dolls are already spoiled enough and don't really need anything... they do not share this sentiment though, so we'll see how well my wallet holds out XD

@Sicktress I trust you will enjoy both your stay here in Canada and at our convention! It's definitely nice to be able to browse doll items in person at the market, with your doll(s) in hand to try things on, plus avoid shipping and customs >.>

    6. How do I make sure my name is on the list for Angeltoasts faceup workshop?

    7. Tickets to the workshops are available here: Anime North 2018

Unfortunately the AngelToast workshop is already sold out, but you will be able to meet and speak with her in the Doll Market at her sales table so please do stop by :)

    8. I did purchase tickets through eventbrite but i wanted to confirm

    9. If you purchased a ticket you'll be on the list, you'l likely have a confirmation email or able to see your tickets in your account on Event Brite. We receive the registration list from Anime North at the start of the event, but I wouldn't worry about it if you have a confirmation email. If you do want to double check please send us an email with your registered name and the workshop you registered for to: [email protected]

    10. Hey what actually happens at the doll north swap meet? I have some clothes that don't fit my dolls and some extra eyes I don't need. Is it trade only or like... I just don't know what happens at all lol.

    11. It's very informal, the spirit of the event is a 'swap meet' where transactions are mostly trades, but we understand that not everyone will have items to trade so cash exchanges are still allowed. It takes place in the Regent room where we have a number of tables and chairs and floor area (if it came to that). Most swappers will set up a little section of a table with their items (normally near a friend) and then go explore around the room and look for things you'd like to swap for, when you find something you like bring that person back to your spot and show them what you have to offer and hopefully a deal can be made. Those that have few items can carry them with them and make trades on the go as they travel around the room. There is no reserved spacing and we ask that everyone share the space and be kind to your neighbor, whenever possible consolidating some of the larger table spreads so that everyone can participate. The swap meet is also a great time for socializing and with the longer time slot this year we think it's going to be a mix of meetup and swap meet.

    12. Whoop! Tomorrow's the day! (Though I just noticed it is after midnight as I'm typing this. Oops)
I'm happy to say that my DC Xaviera, Selene, made the plane trip all safe 'n sound. I'm probably going to bring her to the tea party~ And maybeee my Ashes too?
I also have some wigs and eyes I don't really use to bring to the swap meet.

    13. I don't own any resin dolls, but I'm super excited to see everyone else's dolls and hopefully buy one for myself! It's my first doll con and I'm both over the hills and super nervous since i'm only 14 ;-;

    14. Thanks to everyone that attended Doll North 2018 for making it such an awesome year! An event gallery thread has been started so that members can share their photos from the convention.

@AutumnWyvern I'm glad that they made it safe and sound! I hope that you (and them) enjoyed yourself at the various events.

@sunkissedklutz That's great you were able to attend for the first time! It can be a little scary doing new things/meeting new people but I hope that you had a good time in the end.

    15. It was so lovely to meet people! Thank you for making a newbie feel welcome! I learned a lot :)
