I absolutely loved Doll North last year!! It was the best part of the con in my opinion I would love to go this year but unfortunately it doesn't seem like I'll be able to make it this year no one to go with lol

 

i would love to attend but i'm not sure if I can make it. I miss Anime North, was absent for 2 years.

If i am able to make it for Doll North this year, I have stuff i want to sell, i recalled in the past, doll owners can arrange for booth space to do this. Is it still the same this year? It's not commercial, I'm just trying to sell a Luts head, some Soom parts (fragile) and may be some accessories. If you know how i can get a booth, please let me know.

Question! If you get a Marketplace table, do you have to stay all four hours, or can you skip out early?

You're welcome to leave early if you choose not to sell for the entire time slot. You would be responsible for packing up and removing your inventory at that time if you choose to leave early.

 

Thanks Panda for the info. I think i need only a half table but don't know anyone else to share with.

 

Will the fee for a table be the same as last year? Also is there a schedule released somewhere for this year?

 

The Market information for tables is posted in the News thread for Doll North ^u^.. It is 10$ for a full table and 5$ for half.

I just had word last week that I might have to move to the USA for work. I may not be around at the end of May. I'm so sorry I may not be able to attend Anime North. I may not be able to book a table to sell some of my stuff. I shall know very soon, if indeed I have to move to the US.

 

Hi! I've never been to Doll North before but I was thinking of going this year. But I read that the Doll Market is only on Friday. Is that correct?
So if I wanted to browse what people are selling is it best if I went on Friday?

I wasn't able to make it last year, even though I had spent the whole weekend at Doll North the year before... but I finally managed to confirm that I will be here this year, so I am insanely excited! I had so much fun talking to other like-minded people, I'm really looking forward to this year!

 

Buffalo, represent!

The entire Buffalo doll group, which currently consists of marismg, the_spawn, and myself, have tix for Anime North this year!

My boyfriend lives in London, and has relatives in Mississauga, so we'll have a base camp for the weekend.

I'm really looking forward to attending the Doll North workshops and seeing the Marketplace!

 

I'll be attending doll north tis year. It'll be my first time seeing other people's dolls! :O
I can't seem to find any information on the anime north website, though. Which building is doll north/ doll market even in?!

 

I well not be going this year like l wanted to due to l'm still wating for surgery to be done. Next year l'm going for sure.

We will be in the Macintosh Room of the Sheraton Hotel during all 3 days of the con. We hope to have our own tab up on the Anime North program list soon, right now some of our details are available on the Programming tab under Competitions and Doll Market.

Should have come to this thread sooner. ^^ I'll be there for Saturday! My cousin SporeXP should be there for the whole weekend. I'm really excited to see the entries for the theme competition, I love CLAMP.

I'm having a hard time choosing which of my dolls to bring. xD Any suggestions?
Ideally I'd love to bring my Heliot, but I'm so afraid that something will happen to him, and he's so big!

 

Hmmm... I hope this isn't a silly question, as I took a very quick peek through the news thread and didn't find my answer.

How does one pre-reg for the faceup workshop? And Do we have to pre-reg to attend? What if I just want to observe; would I still be allowed in?

 

Hi Laelen,

Details regarding the pre-registration of the face up workshop will be posted very soon, keep watching our news thread for further details.

We would like to do our best to provide a focused setting for the instructor and students, and for that reason we do not plan to admit spectators this year.

There will be other opportunities to watch the steps involved to create a face up either at our video viewing of nicole's face up stores on Saturday night, or at another event that will be running all weekend we will be releasing the details of soon.

So, when are people planning on being there in the morning? And does anyone know if the doll market is mostly cash only or is it cc friendly =D

 

Well, we're going to try and be there when it opens, around 10:00. However, we're still trying to coordinate schedules with the non-doll-people in the group, so I don't have a specific time yet.

 

Most of the transactions at the con are cash based, especially for the doll market. It's faster and often doll market vendors are not so large that they support credit transactions like a regular business; usually it's artisans or just one person.

 

Good to know since I'll be carrying Yankee cash in need of conversion =D

 

Anime North is very cash focused, I anticipate that all of our Doll Market vendors and our official dealers will only be equipped to take cash payments at the convention. Luxour Academy may be equipped to take pre-orders or paypal payments if they bring a laptop. We have let them know that we have an internet connection in place if they would like to take advantage of it.

Regarding cash conversion I know in the past as a Doll Market vendor I have accepted USD. It would be at the discretion of the vendor if they are willing to accept your currency. With the dollar so close to par I would anticipate some Doll Market vendors being okay with it, I definitely think many of the dealer's in the main Anime North dealer's room will be agreeable to accepting USD.

This little lady is nearing completion. She will be up for auction at Doll North this year, dressed to match our event theme of Clamp. Part of her proceeds will be toward charity. It will be a good opportunity to take home an adorable MSD girl, and to help give back.

 

Here's another question as I am planning to embark on this journey - looks like the doll market is at the Sheraton hotel, not at the Congress Centre? Do we still need to go to the Congress Centre to check in before going to the Sheraton for Doll Market?

It should indiicate when and where you can pick up your badge whether you have pre-registered or are attempting to purchase a ticket at the con.

Badges give access to every Anime North venue (TCC, Double Tree, Sheraton).

You will need to be wearing your badge at every Anime North event including Doll North. All staff will be carefully monitoring for badges this year due to our attendance cap.

 

Ah, bummer. Then for folks like me who are just coming for the doll portion, we have to stop by the Congress Centre with our tickets on Saturday morning to get badges before heading down to the Sheraton. Hope I have enough time to actually see the doll market!

Maybe I'll try stopping in on Friday afternoon to see if I can get a jump on it.

Got there at 2:30 and was out at 4:30ish. Things went pretty quickly for a while there. Not sure why the line stopped moving for a while, but it was still fun to see what everyone was wearing. Glad I went today and didn't wait until tomorrow!

 

The line was horrible today. :c But I got there somewhat early and the line up was far worse after I got out of it 2 hours later.
Bought a lot of great stuff today and had a lot of fun. ^_^ I won't be there tomorrow, but I look forward to attending again next year.

 

I'm so sad that I couldn't make it today, but it was so nice meeting everyone yesterday and I had more fun than I've had in aaages! Everyone was so friendly, I hope I get to come back to TO in the future - or hang out with some people from London! ^^
Love love loved all the entries for the theme competition and Project Runway, you guys all did such a great job.
Name That Sculpt was awesome, I'm glad we were all pretty evenly matched!
And the panel brought up so many interesting topics - I'd love for us to delve more into the psychology of owning dolls next year. ^^

Hey everyone! So glad to see everyone and I had such an amazing time! So tired but it was totally worth it.

I was amazed that so many people liked my little Sakura in the cosplay competition. Thank you to everyone, it totally made my weekend to know that all those late nights of sewing was worth it! ^_^

I'm sad that I have to wait a whole more year to come back and see more dolls but it's okay, something to look forward to...can't wait to see everyone again! So many nice people and the variety of dolls was amazing! I don't get to see many in my neck of the woods so this is such a big deal to me.

Thanks for all the hard work from everyone that made this year such a big success, I can say it was apreatiated by me. Panda and Saturn you both rock! Keep up what you did this year and Doll North can only get better next year! ^_^

 

It was pretty cool to meet people from this forum that i always see.(It makes me realized that they are real people lol!) Too bad i couldnt make it to the meet up on sunday, i was on the highway back to school while it was happening. Cant wait til next year!!!!

I'd like to give a huge shout out to both AgentPanda and SaturnRose for all the amazing work they did with Doll North this year! I had an absolutely wonderful time; the panels and activities were super-fun and informative, I met loads of new and wonderful people and overall, the event was just really well done. It was also really awesome to have Blue Fairy there and see them checking everything out! I hope more companies will want to come to the con in the future!

DollNorth was awesome and I wished I'd been able to attend more events. Panda & Saturn did a fantastic job in organizing/running everything and deserve applause for all their hard work.
