Doll Leaves 60cm Boys Discussion

I will be joining you guys soooon!
I managed to get hold of a noir head and can't wait till he gets here!
Still thinking on a name so might need your help

 

Is there a separate thread for the Doll Leaves 70cm boys anywhere, or do they fit in here?

 

Hi everyone!
I'm considering purchasing the DSB60-02 Boy body from Doll Leaves. I can't seem to find any reviews on it or anything. For those that have it, what do you think of it? Pros? Cons?

 

Long time ago my best friend ordered Doll Leaves Hu. And today is his first publication on DOA.

I have a doll leaves even in white skin. He's one of my favorite boys in my resin family. I noticed that their heads are a little larger than my other buys yet his body is not that big. Yet somehow the doll looks proportionate. I have no idea how they do it but they look good.

I feel you yuna_g, I have a DL Noir whose head is bigger than all my other dolls but somehow it still works??? Wha sort of witch craft is Doll Leaves using omg
Btw, does your Evan have Noir ears or are my eyes deceiving me? He looks fantastic, I love his wig

I think the same about my 70cm Len. His head is huge, but it looks fine on his body, even though he's actually quite short at 67cm. Other heads that are the same size look bigger on him. Must be the shape.

 

Yes! he does have noir ears. I like these ones better than the original even ears. Good eye[emoji1]

 

I know! Same with my even. He is shorter than my other sds, yet his big head works on his body. Optical illustration maybe? I have no idea, but doll leaves know what they're doing to make it work for their dolls. It has to be a company secret or some kind of sorcery[emoji38]

I really like the Andy sculpt. I'd love an excuse to get the normal skin Andy, but I can't come up with anything to convince my wallet! He's just totally the wrong size for anything I need right now......

 

I think with their bodies its the shoulders that do it. They're just the right width to make it so their big heads don't look that big. I tried my large SD art doll head on the body and it worked really well too, but a regular sized SD head was way small.

 

That's exactly why I got the Doll Leaves body originally. I wanted something with big shoulders so that he wouldn't look bobble headed. It works really well, but at the same time he manages to look slim. It's just a gorgeous body!
I just wish they made one a bit taller than the 67cm.

 

I kinda want a 50cm one too now that you say that. And like a 75cm one. I love their bodies.

I've been pondering if Haruka's head would fit the 67cm body, I want him to be my Nozomi's brother but I think I want him to be taller than him. Does anybody have both the body and the head so they could show me?

I introduced him to my friend like "this is my son" and she just adored him.

 

How tall is the 60cm body with head exactly? Is he shorter than listed, same as the "70cm" boy?

 

The 60cm dollies become 60-61cm WITH the head the body is a bit shorter than 60cm for the head to fit, so it becomes 60-61cm with the head, depending wich of the bodies u use ouo

Daepus I love your Andy's wreath, looks great on him =D Anyone got an Andy with a very different face-up or modding? I haven't found man pics of him with out company face-up that aren't blank.

 

Thanks alot ^^ im considering sending him off to a refresh of his faceup with a bit of changes to it, not now but maybe sometime in the future :P
(theres some small scratches in his faceup, but not very visible) so im considering turning him a bit geishaish..for some reason i love the color red on him <_>
Especially dark red... and would love a kimono or a fishtail dress/skirt for him so he can revert a bit back to his true nature (gna get a pair of horns and maybe a devil tail for him) XD
my Andy is some sort of demon and his father was a Incubus, but the DNA of his mother's blood is the stronger one of the two, therefore he is not all sexytime-addict xD (dont need to rely on the lust of humans)

I would really love to get Andy, but I just don't have anywhere to fit him in to my doll family at the moment (or funds or space, but thats a minor detail! LOL)

 

Haha, I agree sylphe! I've wanted an Andy for a while but the funds and having too many unfinished dolls have stopped me. I have a limited Evan that is still faceupless. I thought I had someone to do it for me but they don't contact me sooo(a acquaintance off site).

 

aawh :3 Andy is totally worth getting, the only thing im not too happy with are his poppin ears lawl xD i fixed that with some eyeputty ouo now they wont fly off if i take a fast turn-around lawl :P

Well I'm working hard to talk myself into buying Andy!
I'm changing my mind about the sculpt to use for one of my characters. Originally I was thinking of Andy, but then I decided at 60cm he would be too tall. Now I'm changing my mind again and thinking it might work....... Ok. I admit. I just want Andy!

But he has to get in the queue.... I need a body for another floating head more urgently. *sigh*

I've always wanted one, (those long elf ears!) and finally decided to go 'big' and get my first SD. This is going to be so much fun!

It will only be a short 3-4 months wait, and I'm already getting ideas as to what I might want for him. I did get Evan with out a face up, so I need to practice...a lot, lol.
I'm thinking I won't get him anything (clothes) until after he arrives so I will have a better idea of his style. I won't mind him being bald and naked, I'll just be thrilled to have him!

Just to make sure, I'm assuming the DL guys are SD13 or 'regular' 60cm for clothing and shoes. If not, please set me straight!

 

hello yes the DL guys are the normal 60cm 1/3 SD13 size, some of the clothes can be a bit on the ''big'' side since the bodies are a bit skinny
I even managed to fit my Andy into a 1/3 maid dress but that wasnt without a bit struggling.. and for shoes sized SD13 should be big enough, i think all my SD13 shoes are a bit on the big side for the feet but you can always stuff a bit of tissue or something in them to make them fit more snugly if you'd want that ^^

 

kurogane My friend wait for her evan (and my head =D) about a month or month and a half so it's not that bad ^^
I also get evan without anything, I had totally different idea about him but doll knows better ^^

daepus was faster than me ^^
My Evan is a hybrid so I don't really know but my friend has Evan with default body and yes - he's skinny =D
So I think that some of the standard SD clothes can be too big for him, but I didn't hear anything about problems with shoes.

It's interesting that the Doll Leaves body is slim. I am chronically drawn to slim bodies, so I'm not surprised. All of my dolly choices have turned out this way, lol.

I'm waiting for an Evan, but it was a hard decision, as Andy was also being looked at. I just loved the serene expression on Evan's face and the ability to change his ears. That way I have more options: human ears, or elf ears.

Hey y'all, I'm thinking of putting in an order, but I haven't really found much info on what wait time is for Doll Leaves?

 

I dont believe they take more than 1-2months i only waited a bit over 1month for my andy but that was last yr, idk if the wait time have increased.. it also depends on where u order from

 

Wait time for my Len last year was a month. I ordered from them direct, they were amazingly fast and they never sent me any shipping notice so he just suddenly appeared at the door and I couldn't believe it! No idea if they're still working at that kind of speed though.

 

It's been a month since I ordered my boy from MOC, and I still expect at least another month before he comes in as dealers take longer, sigh.
Not long of a wait, but I do wish it'd go faster.....

 

I think I forgot to say when my Evan got here.. xD That was a couple months ago now? Anyways, here's my Wadley

 

TurtleJen -Wadley is so cute! I love the face up you have for him. Did you do it yourself?

I love DL Evan-I just got mine a week ago. I am in the process of doing his face up. I have the right weather, I just need to sit myself down and do it!

I also just purchased a used Noir head. Now I have two elf eared guys. They will have to body share for a bit, but I eventually plan on acquiring a used body.

 

So many lovely boys here--and congrats to those of you have ordered/received new members of your collection! ^^ I'm curious, what is everyone's opinion on the new body? I'm thinking of ordering for a floating LLT Roderich head I have.

 

Shadeling Sanguine -As this is my first SD sized bjd I have no real experience with the new or old body. I can say that the new body is very heavy with thick resin. So far I have had no issues with getting the body to pose and keep it. The elastic is very tight though. He creeks when I move him. I had a very difficult time getting his head off to do the face up -but that might just be because I'm not used to such thick elastic (only having yosd and smaller). Personally, I kind of like the old style body's sculpting just a bit better (better abs). The only thing I don't particularly like is the big hands. I like small hands and these are big, strong hands (lol) -it bothers me a wee bit. If DL sold SD female hands I would be tempted to get some, but alas, they don't. I would really love to get some DC jointed hands, but they don't sell them either!

I hope this helps somewhat!

Oh, and I do want to say that DL has put in stronger magnets in my Evan's ears (both human and elf) so I have had no issues with them falling off -they are pretty stable and it takes some pulling to get them out.

 

Yes I did his faceup! Thank you ^^ Doing five different pieces at once sure is interesting (all those ears @.@). xD I have some green on his elf ears, it's subtle, but it shows up in good light.

Congrats on your Evan getting home and your new Noir. : D I hope to see the faceup when it's done! And Noir too xD

(Doll Leaves has jointed hands if you're wanting to go that route with your Evan, there should be a review of them somewhere, maybe on youtube).

I like the new body, it's improved on some annoyances I have with the old one. Shorter legs that fit in pants, knees that don't bend backwards, elbow bend angle is better. Poses well. I also like the aesthetics a lot better. I keep considering putting my Mortin on the newer body at some point but I have a soft spot for the old one still and I like all my dolls having different bodies. xD My evan's body is also creaky. But it isn't that bad and I'm used to it now. (:

Its been awhile since I poked my head in here, have some spam of my precious bean Tobi.

 

Anyone waiting for a doll? I put in an order through MoC in may, can't wait to hear from them!

 

Once MoC puts the order in to Doll Leaves it'll only be about a month before you get your boy. Who did you get? I've been meaning to get a Haruka for awhile but other dolly stuff has had to take priority. I wish I could order now for the Noir head argh.

Tobi went to an Aviary today! Waiting for my friend to edit the photos she took before I can post any though.

 

I ordered Asa during their event period, which was back in May, so I'm hoping soon ;_;

I ordered my Evan end of March and he arrived at MOC middle of June -exactly 12 weeks to get to me.

Since I got my Evan, I also purchased a secondhand Noir head. The resin is much darker than the new normal skin, so I had to hybridize. Oh well, I didn't know DL would be having a Noir event again, or I would have waited to get Evan AND a Noir. Sometimes a Time Machine would be so handy!
