Plus, since I'm waiting on my Robel head at the moment I'm reeeeally hoping he'll show up before next Saturday so I can take him to the local Doll and Teddy Show!

I agree. I love moody boys. I've noticed that the majority of dolls I own or am drawn to both BJD and OT have very moody expressions.

I got a question, does anyone remember if DiM does seasonal events? I seem to remember a Summer event last year...or was it a Winter event? Anyone have any info on that?

Hi everyone, thought I'd pop my head in here as I'm thinking of getting Lalia and Lestia (one body - they can share until I decide if I like the body or not ... and can afford a second one lol ). I also have a Miru (Mim) and a floating Luria head (Aeri) who will be getting a body very soon Is this group just for the love size or all DiM's? (found it under the larger dolls discussion so I wondered)

I guess no-one's got the new version 2 girl love body yet as they're pretty new?

 

It's for the Love size even though it doesn't say that in the title. Probably should. It's kinda dead in here but we're trying to breathe some life into it.

It's official - I'm definately in love with Lalia - I keep going back to her page, so I guess even though I said no more SD's that idea's out the window ... I'll just have to tell myself that as she's not quite 60cm she doesn't count as an SD
Hoping to try and get her ordered in the next couple of months - does DiM do any kind of event around summer-time? I know they did a christmas one but I've only known about them since November ... it's just there's also 7 Happy heads I want desperately (+ 3 more eventually ), and I've decided to leave Lestia until xmas - if they have another event maybe I can score a freebie head if I like the version 2 body

 

I'll join in. I have a Galahad and am currently working on a Kassia project. I have been modding a dreaming head and will soon have a body for her as well. When she is all beautiful I will post photos of both of them.

 

I've fallen in love with Lalia.

Can anyone share their opinions on the more youthful SD girl body? Even though DIM shows her on the newer lady body in their promo pics, I see her more as a pre-teen. Do the DIM SD heads work well with any other bodies?

And SO excited because my Robel head finally arrived I have no idea what body I'll get him and it will likely be a loooong time until he has one anyway as I'd rather get my three final DiM heads home first, but I don't care! I love this boy, he's so gorgeous. I remember seeing someone's Robel years ago at a convention and being absolutely smitten, but pushed him out of my wishlist as he was no longer being made (and hadn't been for awhile). Funny how these things turn out sometimes.

 

The Dika Doll female youth body is a perfect match neck size but I have no idea about resin match ... trouble with the DiM love heads seems to be their size (9 inches) making them on the larger end for SD heads (my Elfdoll's are a whole inch less).
I actually kind of like the new DiM love body - it's very pretty and at least it's double jointed but I'm always wary now about forking out for a body without researching it first but I want Lalia and if I order her head and wait to get her body later I'll get hit twice on the customs charges so I guess I'll just take the plunge

 

Well, I don't have my doll yet, but I just purchased (4/13/12) the new doll, Lyell on the 2.0 love male body with the extra and I paid for the default face-up on both heads. I'm really excited to get him cause I'm in love with the face and I love the look of the body. But I hear the bad reviews of the DiM bodies so I'm a little scared. Although, these reviews have been based on the older version of the body and I have yet to read anything specific about the 2.0 body. So I'm reading everything with a grain of salt.

I've already purchased his clothes on ebay and a new wig and undies from LUTS. I wish I had paid the extra for the hand and knife though cause I would like for him to be able to hold a gun but oh well. I'm basing my Lyell doll off of my original character, Shou Degawa who is a detective from Osaka, Japan who also happens to be a lycan/werewolf. Eyes are random, but I did make a polite request for blue because that is more true to my character. The wig I bought is blonde and feathered although it's much longer than I want so I will have to cut it down and restyle it.

I absolutely love Lyell's face. It's so much more realistic than the other DiM dolls. He really stands out. I wonder if they got a new artist or they're just trying something new. Either way, I love him already. I just hope I still feel that way when I open the box. But being that I've waited over 5 years to get a BJD and I'm just happy to have one period, I doubt I'll feel any disappointment or buyer's remorse.

 

I have a Lloyd on the older male body and I have no issues with it. I actually find he holds poses quite naturally. The only issue I really have is one I mentioned here and that's that when he's in his straight normal position I find his back arches backwards too much. It looks a little funny. But when I have him sitting I just push his chest piece forward and he sits in a cute little slouch.

Apparently I don't have a photo of how I have him sitting on my bed most of the time but here's one of him sitting.

^ okay well that's good to hear. Cause I've heard they aren't strung tight enough or don't hold their poses or their legs will buckle and they'll fall. And it's made me quite paranoid. Anywho, here is a picture of the wig and clothes I got for my doll. I hope it's okay to post them. This is what I'll put on my Lyell doll when I get him. I plan on cutting the wig down so it is about shoulder length. I don't know if it would be helpful, but I might make a tutorial for how to style a wig.

 

I haven't had any problems with him falling or anything. He has one leg that wants to kick but I can get him to hold his poses. He certainly stands just fine. Of course this is the old body. DIM only released the new body after I ordered him.

No problem. All my dolls wear "street wear" or normal clothes.

Im still wondering if my DIM head would be a good match for a Little Monica body? He's normal resin and a little on the pinkish side.

I bought my DiM Edmon a few years ago, he's my one and only boy at the moment. I really love the expression on his face, he looks like he's trying not to smirk
I'm still having problems finding clothes for him (and his big feet) and he doesn't seem to pose all that well :/ When I sit him on a flat surface he sort of leans backwards. He's alright standing though ^^" I was considering buying the newer body but I'd feel bad for his old body (I'm weird like that~)

 

Is he on the V1 Love body that is still available? I haven't had any problems finding clothes for my guy. He's a Lloyd on the V1 body. The V2 body came out just after I ordered him.

 

Yeah, he has the V1 body, I think it's more that I'm too picky with the type of clothes I want for him ^^" I'd like for him to have suits and maybe a vintage style outfit, but I'm always wary of staining him as I don't have anything to take them off with. I've heard of the magic erasers but they don't sell them here in Australia as far as I know :/

 

You can get them on Ebay and such. I'd look and see if they have something similar though, it just might not be the same brand "Magic Eraser". It looks like a white sponge only it "erases" dirt (and stains on resin).

Everything I've bought that's "SD" has fit Kai with no issues at all. But I go for urban/street wear so I don't know about other stuff.

Normally I'm into casual clothes as well, especially for myself, but somehow seeing him all dressed up like a duke made me want to stick to that as part of his character. I've got a couple of casual things on the way anyway since I'm having trouble finding anything else ^^"

 

Have you tried Alice Collections? Some of the clothes can be made to the doll's measurements. It indicates which ones on the listing and then you just put the measurements in when you go to check out. I did that for the EID girl I'm getting.

 

I'll go check them out, I've seen a few of their uniforms but they're not in custom sizing so I'm still wary of his neck :s

I suppose worst case scenerio you could find someone who you can commission to make an outfit for him.

 

I have 2 Dim happy dolls,LAIA and MIRU and i ordered clothes from nine style and they all fit great, i have MSD size dolls. all the shoes i bought fit also from "the style home" wigs i bought on ebay were advertized to fit dollfie (Luts MSD DZ DOD and they were all good, but one with a lamb skin backing was too large.
i found the hands of one doll a pain cause the thumbs stick out and slim dresses are hard to put on her. these are my first BJD's so i can't compare to anything. i do know that one dolls legs flip all over the place more than the other. but both do it.

 

I really fallen in love with D.I.M. Edmon, but the full D.I.M. dolls are a bit out of my price range. Does anyone know if the resin color is close to Angel of Dream resin?

DIM resin is difficult its either cream white nor usual normal. Its pink and I dont know any other company that matches, except like I heard of DOD but this is not for cheaper hybrids then.
I had an Galahad head on AOD white body, it dont looked good sadly so I sold it.
Id like to know to if anyone has a suggestion to what they could match, but Im very afraid there is none.

I just received my DIM Lalia head the other day, and I think she's gorgeous. She's younger than I usually keep, but such a beautiful sculpt, it looks like she'll be staying!

I'm seriously considering getting a Marcellina on the new 2.0 body! I've only got a couple of days left until the event ends though... Is there still no info out there about how the new Love body shapes up?

 

I don't know of anyone who has one. I really would like to get a new male Love body for Kai. I find the current body has way too much of a sway back and the newer body looks much straighter. Though then I wonder if all the SD pants that fit him perfectly on this body will no longer fit with the new one...

 

Joining this thread- I just ordered the new SD girl Leonora on the 2.0 girl body (unassembled). Never thought I'd be owning a DIM doll! It was an impulse buy- I don't have a plan for her yet (however, I do want to mod the fangs off...maybe). How is DIMs resin? Is it heavy/ light weight? Easy to faceup?

 

I can't speak to faceups as I've never done my own though Meggilu has done most of mine and has said she loves doing them. They are very lightweight, in my opinion. I like their resin colour, it's got pink undertones rather than yellow.

I did the same thing Krystina - I just ordered an unassembled Marcellina 8D I went for the new body because it looks nice enough! It can sit straight and whatnot too. I'll just consider sanding off the nipples because they're a bit too pointy for my liking.

I'll make sure to post a review on the body once my girl arrives. I'm rather excited.

 

I'm glad someone ordered a Marcellina; I just love her look! I would've ordered her too, but I just don't know how I'd do her faceup. I can't wait to see what you do with your girl! haahaa I didn't even noticed, but your right! Her nips are a bit too pointy! I might have to get those sanded a bit, along with Leonora's fangs (I think I'll keep the ears as is-she can be an elf or something :XD)

I'm such a fan of DIM sculpts, I especially love their lips. I've been admiring Bellosse and Kassia for a long time now and now that there's the new love girl body it's harder and harder to resist, hehe. I'm interested in hearing reviews about the new body too, though it's so beautiful I might not even care if it's a bad poser!
With all the new love girls released, it's harder and harder to pick a favourite... I guess that's good for my bank account but not good for my sanity! Kassia is probably still my favourite but I really like Marcellina, I just can't resist half closed eyes and vampire teeth!

@Suruni You're right, they do have a lot of "hard to resist" sculpts I've been watching Denny churn out dolls since 2005 and he never ceased to amaze me! Danbi, Eunbi and Angelo were my first favorite sculpts; I almost bought Kassia but went instead for their new girl Leonora (just something quirky I like about her!) Someday, I hope to get a G.O. started to get one of D.I.M.'s discontinued sculpts (I've REALLY wanted Bbjorn for the longest time-but he sold out before I could get him!)

I had a Belita and sold her, I was sorry I let her go, So I bought her again on Ebay. She needs a face-up. I will post pictures once shes done.
I also really liked Flora and Cordelia, and many of the Happy size girls.
