Can't say much as I'm fairly new to BJD's, however I can tell you that I only have 3 so far and they are all DIM. I just LOVE them!

Those aren't default faceups are they? I've spent quite a bit of time debating between Kassia and Bellosse and finally went with Bellosse because Kassia looked a bit moodier in her company pic. Yours however doesnt look moody at all... aaah you have me debating between the two again ... decisions decisions.

Oooh thank you she's a beauty! Do you have a favorite? They look similar in so many ways its hard to decide. I suppose Bellosse has a more innocent and pouty face though.

 

Bellosse is definitely my favorite, but Kassia comes in right behind. I may not own any other bjd's or might sell any future ones I acquire off, however, these two are definitely my girls for keep.

 

i know your pain blackcat87 i couldnt decide which girl i liked better. bellosse has such a sweet innocent face and kassia has a beautifully grumpy face.

so i decided to get them both >.< lol i wont be ordering mine for a few months though.

 

I have two Love girls and a Love boy. My girls both have the old style bodies, and once they get home I will post some pics and whatnot. They just got faceups and I can't wait to get them home XD

 

hiDes I can't blame you for never wanting to give those two girls up I think I am leaning towards a Bellosse as well, her face is just so animated and expressive.

Cammieneko I would love to se your dolls and their new faceups, I can't wait! It seems lately I just can't get enough pictures of these dolls, the more I see the more I want

 

I had a hard time trying to decide between Bellosse and Kassia too, but I eventually went with Bellosse, 'cause I just loved her sweet baby face. I love Kassia too, but she seemed older and like someone else said "moody". Bellosse/Alyce is my one and only SD. They are a little big for me, but I love Bellosse. I almost had to sell her, but thankfully no one was interested in buying her before I found out I didn't need to sell her. So she's here to stay!

 

Its a good thing you got to hold on to her! It would have been a shame to let her go if you love her so much

I also have a size issue with SD's, I much prefer the smaller MSD size, but sometimes you just cant get the facial detail you're looking for with them. I own 2 other SDs, one was an unexpected and unplanned gift, and the other, well I just couldn't resist his face, like I now am finding Bellosse's face irresistible. They will make a nice pair

I am really liking the braided pigtails on your girl. I particularly liked the pictures you have on Flicker of her with this wig and her jean jacket. Its nice how versatile she can be going between a modern and old fashioned look.

Thanks for the tip on shoes as well, I have a feeling that is going to be the toughest thing to find once I purchase my own doll

 

yeah im excited to get them and see them in person i wonder if my opinion will change once i see them in real life (right now i think i like more bellosse, but my top favorite picture of one of these girls is one of Kassia's promo pics, and i wonder if i like more bellosse because there seems to be more of her around ?) . it wont be for a few months though because im going to buy 2 or 3 dolls first. and then comes the issues with choosing who (out of these two) comes home first lol. it never ends

i read somewhere that volks shoes fit these lovely's perfectly.

I got my Floras back and right now have Alissa on her old DiM body.









I have a DiM Edmon in the newer resin and he is MUCH lighter than Flora. His skin is more matte and Flora's is a bit shiny.

I'm making her a black Ball Gown for a meet in November, and I've just bought a pair of black DM Model girl shoes...I know they'll be bigger, but I'll let you know how they fit when they arrive.

 

Cammieneko Their faceups are so pretty and rosy! The bodies look really nice too, like they have good posing potential, and with the new double jointed bodies, I bet they're even better. Thank you for sharing!

Heres a funny question for those who own both: Do Bellosse and Kaissa have the same ears or are they a little different from each other? I'm having trouble seeing in their pics.

 

I just checked their right ear. They look almost exactly the same, except in the inner part, one seems to have more of a ridge by the lobe, than the other.

I am contemplating my first doll, and am leaning more and more towards a Bellosse...

To everyone-
I have two major hesitations about Bellosse-
1. Her size. I worry that I may be getting in a little over my head getting a first doll this big. Any input on that?
2. Her ears. I love EVERYTHING about this sculpt, except her pointy elf ears. Perhaps this is blasphemous to even suggest, but, have any of you modded their ears to resemble normal human ears? Is it just as simple as sanding them down and rounding the edges? Something a newbie (a handy, crafty newbie) might consider attempting herself?

 

Hey.

Don't worry about size! If you love a doll you love one. There shouldn't be a worry about the size for your first doll. You should worry more about getting a doll you love! My first 3 were SD and I love the size they are. If you want Bellosse, go for it.

If you want her to have human ears, I'm sure someone on here would mod them for you. I don't like the pointed ears on most dolls, so I'd do the modding on Bellosse ears. It's all up to what -you- want. She'd be your doll, not anyone else's. I think she'd look beautiful with normal ears. I actually prefer vampires with normal human ears.

I have always been a bit apprehensive about SD sized dolls myself, but Cammieneko is right, get what you love! I caved and bought an SD for myself even though I was worried he would feel too big and I absolutely adore him. I know at least for me, my love of his sculpt and faceup compensated for his large size, and after a while I adjusted to the size as well and learned to like it. Gosh, I feel like this post if taken out of context could sound soo wrong, buut size doesn't really matter to me if I really like the doll lol ^.^ Now he needs a friend, which is where Bellosse comes in

Thanks so much for the encouragement! It's just such a big and expensive decision to make, and I want to be sure that I make the right choice for me. I'll be attending my first meet-up on Sunday, and I think seeing different sizes of dolls in person will help me figure it out....
I have my $ saved up, so early next week will be ordering time...
I have a feeling it will be a Bellosse for me, as long as I don't have a heart attack when I see some of the "larger" dolls in person on Sunday...

 

It sounds like we will be ordering our Bellosse's at about the same time! I plan on ordering mine in about a week or so as well we will have to exchange pictures of them when they arrive! Actually, come to think of it, I'll be ordering mine around the same time as you, but I think I will have to put her on layaway for a couple of months, so I bet you'll get yours first.

Does anyone know what the waiting periods are like?

I just ordered my Bellosse from Denver Doll Emporium a few minutes ago - I just couldn't wait!
I did a lot of thinking with my handy measuring tape, and I think my "larger" girl will be just fine!

hey red delerium congrats! alot of people get out their tape measures and are still shocked at how big their dolls are. have you looked in the picture threads of people with their dolls? thats what helped me.


but if you really love bellosse her size wont matter much in the end. if anything it will be a little hard to get past at first but as time goes by you could get used to it. it happens to alot of people. =]

And thanks, octobercrow, for the links to the picture threads. I hadn't looked at them before, but just spent *quite* a while perusing... I think Bellosse and I will be just fine - 60 cm looks like what I thought it would. Those 80 cm ladies and gentlemen? That might be pushing it....

Ah, yes - a "P.S." to my earlier post:

Denver Doll emailed me and said that they had a Bellosse w/face-up in stock, so I may have her A LOT sooner than I'd expected...

Oh, and blackcat87 - we should definitely exchange pics when both our girls are safely at home!

 

About faceups? This is one thing I wish I had known before I bought my first doll: You can usually get a more custom, unique faceup for the same price as the faceup the doll comes with if you pay the extra 40-50. Some have gorgeous ones, but when I got Flora from them (I believe it was DDE).. Oy. She had bright purple eyelashes on and her faceup was scratched slightly above the right eyebrow. Kinda smudged like it had been painted that way and sent to them. They're great, DDE, but just her faceup was scary.. If they had had her blank at the time I woulda got her blank and sent the head.

Just passing a little bit of 'wisdom' along. With my first doll I was so worried to NOT get a faceup on her cause I was afraid I'd hate her, but now that I look back on it, the money for the normal faceup could been used on an awesome one.

Anyway! Congrats on her. I bet you get her by the end of the week XD

Edit: The more I think about it, it might not have been DDE I got Flora from.. I think she had to have been messed around with where ever I got her from, cause from my understanding DiM doesn't put eyelashes on their dolls.. and she had some glued on. All funky like. Yuck. x.x

 

Red_Delerium: Belosse and Kassia are 56cm, which is slightly more petite than the standard 60cm SD size. I have a 56cm NotDoll, and she's less overwhelming than a 60cm doll. Those 4cm really make a difference, if you're worried about getting an SD. And congrats on your timely Bellosse!

 

It is true Volks fit perfect. I just sold my Kassia to pay for another girl or I would post photos. You cannot imagine how thrilled I was to discover this. And I love you too

 

Cammieneko - Thanks for the face-up wisdom. I have no doubt that a custom face-up would be far better than the "stock" one she'll be coming with, but I went with the face-up one for a couple of reasons:
1. I'm impatient - the one with the face-up was in stock already at DDE, ready to go out. Getting one without would have meant waiting who knows how many weeks.
2. I'm impatient - (notice a pattern?) the person who I would like to do her "real" face-up & body blush is booked up until September... I can't have my girl with no face for 3 or 4 months...
wildwoodflower - I'm not too worried about the SD size, but thanks for the reassurance. After looking at so many BJD company websites, and so many photo threads on here, I think that my SD girl will be right for me. I *love* her particular sculpt more than any other doll I've seen, and it seems like the larger sized dolls allow for more detail and a more realistic appearance overall.
EVERYONE - Would you agree that in general, the larger sized dolls tend to have more detail or a more realistic appearance? Or am I imagining things?

Ooooh..... I just checked my doll's tracking #, and it looks like she'll be arriving on Monday. I was hoping she'd be here in time for my first doll meet-up, but that's O.K. It will give me time this weekend to make something for her to wear... My house mates and I don't tend to lounge around the house naked, and being only 56cm tall does not an exception to the rule make...

 

Oooh Red_Delerium I am soo jealous I cant wait to see her, I hope you post pics asap (with or without clothes if you dont have any yet) I also agree that SD sized dolls typically have more detail in their bodies and faces, which in my opinion is the biggest plus of getting them!

i think you will be glad you got the face up red_delerium. i got my first doll with a face up even though i didn't want to keep the default and im so glad i did. its just nice to see the way they are done. like how thin the eyelashes and eyebrow hairs are. and to tell the truth im still probably going to send my doll out for a custom face up but his default has grown on me. im actually kinda scared to have it wiped... i just have to keep reminding myself its not him and ill hopefully love him even more when he has "his" face on

Ok, so they do fit, although Ipsie's feet are a bit smaller and narrower so I'm either going to make some insoles to go in the shoes or put lacing on the outside....but at least the shoes aren't too small.

 

I love kassia and bellose - has anyone got any experience with removing the vampire teef? I would love a non vampire version...

 

Have any of you out there with LOVE DiM girls noticed that their heads are a bit "large"? I ask, because her default wig just barely goes on. Also, I just got a wig off of eBay (not specifically for BJDs, but marked as 8-9 Kemper Mohair), and I can't get it fully onto her head. It just kind of sits on top, like one of those old men with their trucker caps perched atop, not firmly seated upon their heads...
Am I just a newbie that hasn't yet learned the finer points of putting on a wig, or does my girl have a big noggin?

Red_Delerium, you will find that wigs vary in size between companies and what is an 8-9 from one is a perfect fit, and then from another is not. I find the higher quality wigs from Leekeworld, Jpop, etc. are pretty consistent with sizes. Leekeworld and Dollheart 8-9 wigs fit my Bellose quite well.

 

Thanks Luckyl - I'm glad that the Leekeworld wigs fit well, as I recently ordered a few that haven't arrived yet. I was worried that I would have spent all this money on wigs, and none of them would fit!

 

OK! I have a question that I want to be answered so badly :

What mold is the gift head that is pictured in minimee female love size body?

I REALLY love her
Is she a basic DIM mold or an original gift head? I tried looking for similar molds in love section, yet the one that looks the most similar is Eunbi though the gift head doesn't have the "sick" look that I don't like in Eunbi, and the gift head has fuller upper lip and more downward nosetip (I think...). Could just be the faceup and the photography technique though... Belita looks similar too, but their eyeshape are different and the gift head has wider (longer) lips than Belita.... And Belita has a slight smile, while the gift head is definitely frowning
Or (worse), could it be one of minimee heads? But I *think* she doesn't look like a minimee?

And more questions :
What do DIM mean with "If you order this minimee female body, a free Secret head is given."? Does that mean they give random head when someone buy the body or they give the exact same head like pictured in the photos? I'm desperately holding my urge to clean my saving and buy the body just to get that pictured gift head....

Please help me

 

I will definitely be able to answer your questions when I get my order in from DDE for a minimee love body with secret head anytime now. When I asked DDE about what head I will get or if I could choose, they said it was random. But, it very well could be that you just get the girl head with the girl body and the boy head with the boy body like someone said in the other thread you posed about the DIM secret head.

Stay tuned, and I will let you know and post some photos of it when I get it.

The "Secret" Head mentioned is just the name of the sculpt as far as I know ^^ I received one with Cassie's body and sold her on.
