Could be, just been going through the pics on the second search link and the heads do look different, the cheeks look slimmer and the nose looks more like my head, but the lips look different at certain angles.

Danbi does look very like mine but not identical but who knows what had happened to the head in-between manufacture and now

I am almost tempted to try modding the eyes a little smaller, love the lips and nose though, I am just used to smaller eyes now a days

 

He could have been modded like you said or sanded and painted faces can make a big difference. Hope to see him complete soon.

 

That's a good photoshoot for the sculpt looks like my head with plump cheeks... the eyes on my head look an tad uneven which made me think they could be modded, but DIM can have uneven eyes shapes.

 

The ears look the same too.

Ah, are the ears different per sculpt? I am so used to companies now reusing heads to create new sculpts (so the ears look the same).

This was an impulse buy and have so many projects now stacking up oops.

Really lucky that some of these photoshoot posts (2008, different era!) are still around... a lot of mine have been deleted when the hosting site stopped providing free hosting

I am liking the thinned down cheeks actually, so no complaints there, heheh.

 

@kyukyukyu Your guy looks like one of the DIM Mimimee heads, could it be one of the Final Fantasy char heads maybe?

I don’t think he’s a Danbi- this sculpt looks more slender and longer than Danbi. If it’s not a MNM of Cloud, I remember DIM having a lesser known sculpt in their shop that this sculpt reminds me of. I just can’t remember the name (I just remember it look like Cloud )

EDIT: I looked through some Cloud MNM pics and even tho it’s close, this sculpt looks more soft where Cloud looks more angular. I’m leaning more towards this head being either event head or one of DIM’s lesser known sculpts from maybe one of their other lines (remember Doll in Life? ) or maybe MNM artist head. Also went thru the wayback machine on DiM’s old website- I forgot they had alot of doll lines back in the day! They had MNM services, had other doll artists, had so many sculpts. O man, if I had the money now back then…

 

I found the wayback machine for Dim, I love it! I accidentally bumped into it. How odd because I wasn’t looking for it and it just showed up in my search. Probably when you went to it, it got bumped up the list on the search engine.

I wonder if I can use it to find Arttong’s original website (lol I’m really dating myself) but before or maybe around the same time DIM began, one or some of the sculptors used to have a blog with WIP photos and art installations of their sculpts. I used to look through it for inspiration- they did a lot of art doll stuff

 

I couldn't deal with my DiM Love girl body, so I moved it on out of my collection, but kept my Bellosse head. She is now on a T&D Doll 60cm girl body and she looks pretty good on it. I really need to take her picture again...

She’s really pretty love the blue hair and eyebrows. Nice necklace and heart locket. She’s very unique and the body seems to work well for her.

Oh that looks great and she’s very pretty, thanks so much for sharing! It’s so nice to revive this thread with old or new photos. I’m sure many folks have Dimdolls and are even buying used. This thread is special. Your doll looks great on that body. I’m needing to find one more body for a Dim sd floating head. I have one coming today, it’s a Mirodoll 60cm. Hope it works. Then one more body, don’t know what body yet but this type body may be an option.

 

lol I’m low-key lookin for Jullian, Elif, Terrence, and Robel although I don’t know if I ever seen Robel owner pics even when DIM was still active.

I’m sorry, I was watching my sons post and when I opened the box I was in shock, I’m so eager I got the tracking numbers messed up, lol! Mine is awaiting shipment in Poland to the USA. It’s for one of 4 Dim sd heads, I will then have three bodies and just need one more. I have Belossee, Kassia, Odile, Marcelina. One old version Dim body and one new version Dim body, and now the Mirodoll body when it arrives.

Terrence just got a face and I got the body before the head just recently. If the face up looks ok, I’ll post later tonight!
I wanted to sew for him but I have a few clothes that might work ok for him for now. I’m so excited, I wanted him years ago and I don’t do well with boy dolls but he has always intrigued me. I’m so ecstatic I have him! Thank you

Thank you! Yes, the colour is a good match. The wig was custom made for her, back before I bought her from a friend. Aurora came with the body as well, with only a slight mod to the neck, I believe. Here she is again with her 2 Realfee friends.

Oh my is that extremely adorable or what, so cute. Such a sweet photo and your dolls are so pretty.

 

I wasn't having luck with lighting and this is the first face for Terrence. I may wipe and redo but I always see how the faces I paint looks in photos before I wipe them.

Also, his body is way yellow and is an original Dimdoll body, his face is like new so a big difference. I hope you like him. I do need a new wig for him and maybe some new eyes, but hey, I love him no matter what!

Thank you so much, I normally try had to make the lashes nicer but honestly this was a practice face up and I thought it was a fail. I’ll keep him like this for now because I think he is so cute. I made the brows wider with black blush but had to take it off and seal and since it’s hard to get the sealant perfect sometimes I didn’t add the blush back. Oh well, he’s cute and I’m so happy you like him. I’ll try for full photos today!

 

I tried to get a good photo of Terrence, but he's still a work in progress. I like my dolls easy to photograph and he is hard to photograph, bummer. Either i'm not good at photographing or I need to repaint him. Meanwhile I did change around the sd girls. Kassia and Bellosse. Here is the best, I can do with Terrence and here is Kassia and Bellosse.

 

Ugh all your photos look so good and makes me want to go play and photograph my dolls (but I’m supposed to be working ) Terrence looks so cute - I love that he looks bored and pouty . He probably thinking of ways to bug his sisters . Kassia and Bellosse look so pretty- I just love their sweet, mori style

anyway, i FINALLY, after being on the hunt since before it got discontinued, after 2 1/2+ years got my hands on a marcellina head!!!!!! i'm so excited!!!!!!!!! it's absolutely beautiful in person and i'm sooooo happy to have them home finally
i'm waffling on what gender i'm gonna make them but i'm leaning male i think.

in any case, does anyone else have a marcellina head? what did you do for the eyes? some of the 14mm eyes i have fit in the slots and some are too big to lay flush, 12mm fits nicely but leaves some gapping that i can't stand. 16mm gives a big doe-y eye look that i like, but they don't fit in the sockets at all. is marcellina just a weird eye size?

here's the face (so sweet!)

and here's the inside with two different brands of 14mm inserted. the (from this view) left is from dearmine and fits well within the eyewell but has gapping at the sides, and the right is from fairyland (iirc) and juuuuust manages to slot into the eyewell. i think the left eyewell might be ever so slightly bigger which is causing some discrepancy in the fit between each eye depending on brand and angle.

they're both standard size iris eyes but for some reason i feel like the irises are too small for what i have in mind. definitely gonna need a pair of customs, but i'm gonna have to figure out what the hell size to use before i can commission any

thank you! i’m soooo happy to finally have him home! i’ve got some ideas for him but i’m probably gonna try and find him a body first. i’m trying to figure out if DC/DZ or dream valley would have a good match but since they changed their basic resin colours i don’t know what matches anything anymore except WS

 

Is he WS? Might just be my phone screen I thought he was normal Ive known DIM for a while but I forget if they had different skin tones?

Maybe Dreamingdoll might be a match? I know one of their artists released some sculpts after DIM closed (her shop is Arttong on Etsy) and she says her resins are a match to Dreamingdoll. I’m not sure if the resin she used for her sculpts are the same as DIMs old resin(?) I should ask her

Otherwise, I have seen some DIM hybrids with DZ and DC and they seem to be a good match (you’ll have to search DoA) Since DZ and DC have changed their basic skin, maybe you can put a WTB older body in the Marketplace?

 

nah, he's NS! unfortunately the DiM site isn't as well archived as i would like; i really wish the DoA wiki was kept a little more updated and had images and stuff (a lot of discontinued dolls' promo images are really hard to find, if not impossible...!) but anyway.... DiM would release white skin occasionally and i've seen some tan ones but as far as i know they're very rare or possibly all dyed LOL. but DiM have always been a little on the paler and pinkier side, but i think he's a bit older, he's more mellowed than any of mine from the store closing. i have my ace head (msd) from 2017 on a myou 42cm Boy Body Ver.II in normal pink from 2020 and the match is flawless. unfortunately, i don't like any of myou's SD bodes.

the shop you recommended doesn't have any bodies right now either unfort ;; i actually wasn't aware that DiM had more than one sculptor, i was under the impression it had just been denny :O but i can definitely see the resemblance, she'll be someone to keep an eye on, i've followed her IG.

i'll have to check out some of the threads and see if they have any info on DC/DZ's new skins. i remember looking to see if DV was a match since i wanted my aria (one of their very big headed yosd heads) on one of theirs but the match wasn't super promising from the one (1) post i found unfortunately. i'm not entirely sure if DV and DC/DZ have the same resin though, i know DV sculpted for DC but i don't know if they're sister companies the way DC and DZ are?

 

I used to lurk in Arttong online blog back in 2006 -2007 (so long ago! ) she was just sculpting doll heads in clay (and I think in Porcelin) at the time - it was really an art blog and that is where I saw R.Asiam, Eunbi, and Danbi (I assume she sculpted these ones for sure) and her blog is what connected me to DimDoll I'm not sure if Denny did do some sculpts or if he was just in charge of production- if he did, I'm not sure which sculpts, but I think Jun did alot of them Denny did have other doll lines that had some featuring artist sculptors too - he definitlely brought alot of them together to make beautiful dolls If I had the money now back then, i'd buy them
