Doll In Mind - LOVE - Discussion

Feb 23, 2006

    1. @karasu_l'elfe That first picture is so stunning they should use it to sell that body. I think I faved it on Flickr a long time ago. You mean the NB56-001, though.

    2. Did you have to modded the head of Marcelina? I tried my kassia in a MSD body, 7 cm neck and the head just dind´t enter, so I don´t know what I´m going to do with the MYOU 1/3 body I order that have a 9 cm neck
      ...

    3. It's strange :huh?: yet I didn't make any changes and I had no problem ...

    4. @deathdoll some of the DIM heads sit quite high on the company’s own Love body (my Bellosse did) so I wouldn’t worry too much until you have the body in hand and try them together.

    5. Pity this thread is so.... inactive, but I wanted to share my DiM Bellosse who I have had since about end of May this year. I had trouble bonding with her on the Love body, so yesterday I put her on my Telesthesia Doll 60cm girl body, and I love the combo!

      A quick pic of Celine!

    6. What a cool looking doll! :3nodding:

I should post a pic of one of my DIMs, but they're all custom heads.

      Ryu

    7. @karasu_l'elfe I really like supia doll body, which skintone is your hybrid?

    8. For reference this is my DIM kassia head on a myou doll body 1/3 in pink skin.

From what I've seen from other owners of myou dolls the color of the resin seems to vary a lot.
The Kassia head sit quite high on the myou body. If I move the head too much it may come out but beside that I think it´s a great hybrid. The colour is almost the same.

    9. Your girl looks great on this body!

Here’s my Bellosse again. Finally got her in front of my DSLR.

    10. Your Bellosse looks so amazing! :D
Well you obviously take great photos too but who could deny the beauty of Bellosse?

@deathdoll your hybrid looks great! The resin match is really nice. Do you like the body and the poseability?

I love seeing photos of Kassia and Bellosse since they were my first DiM loves. Funny though I don't own neither of them myself but when ever I see photos of them I remember how much I love them.

After these amazing photos I'm a bit ashamed to post my own... there's so little natural light at this time of the year (well it's getting better at least) and photographing isn't easy in such a dim (hah) light.
Anyway here's a fairly recent photo of my Marcellina:

She's on Resinsoul 1/3 girl body. I like how the body looks and the resin match is as perfect as it can be but the poseability is horrible. xD

    11. @IzabethS Thankyou, your belosse is beautiful.

@suruni The body arrived recently but she seems to pose really well. Is a solid body and holds itself upright.
The biggest problem with this hybrid will be the color match. In my case it was perfect but recently I saw here at DOA someone who received a normal MYOU pink body that was very pink and did not match the DIM resin at all.

Your Marcellina is stunning by the way. I love her hair and eyes.

    12. @suruni - Thank you for the compliment on my girl! She's my only big DiM girl, I also have her original Love body, but that thing is janky so it lives unused in my spare parts drawer. Your Marcellina is beautiful!!

@deathdoll - Thank you! And yeah, hybrids can be tricky. My girl is maybe a 90% match, the body is slightly darker. But it doesn't bother me and is hardly noticeable in pictures.

    13. I'm really happy to hear you like my Marcellina. ^^ She's the Queen of my bjd collection. It's always nice to hear compliments of a doll who's character is really important to you. DiM doll sculpts have so much soul in them!

    14. Beautiful girls @IzabethS and @suruni - I love how colorful they are! Can't wait to see your girl all done up @deathdoll.

Anyone have a girl sculpt on a boy body? I'm thinking of making a sculpt by Arttong into a boy but unsure about fit and if it will look proportionately.

    15. I was thinking of making my Kassia a boy too! I was hoping to find some pics of that sculpt with a masculine wig/faceup here

I don't know for the specific sculpt you have, but Kassia's head is on the bigger side ("size 8-9 wig" is LIES) so I think she would look ok in a 60-65cm boy body. However her neck hole is pretty small and she has a faceplate that can be pushed off by the neck super easily. Male bodies tend to have a thicker neck too, so you might need to do some modding for it to fit nicely.

    16. Boy Kassia would be so cute! I don't think I've seen one in DoA - what kind of style were you thinking? Maybe you can have Kassia painted in a neutral style and you can just dress him like a boy? Kassia has both a sweet and somewhat spunky face, i think she can be made into a cute boy.
Also, what skin color is your Kassia?

I just got my doll head from Art-Tong (sculptor for DIM before they closed) and I think you're right, the head will be ok for a 60-65 cm boy body. The description in her store says it fits SD13 girl, but I compared the head to my Peakswood girl and it looks like the neck opening is a little bigger. I'm thinking to try a Dollzone Peach skin for him; their SD size boy body neck size has the same circumference as DIM doll's girl. Here is a pic of the head with no faceup:

This is the WS Dolce sculpt - I love the style so much! You can tell its very DIM style, but also kind of reminds me of Kdoll and Koodoll. The lips are the most unique I've see, Its kind of hard to see, but the lip lines are sculpted. You can see more pictures with faceups in Art-tong instagram (and she has an etsy shop too). I sent my sculpt of today for a faceup, can't wait to see him all done up :whee:

    17. omg you have no idea how happy I was to learn that DIM's sculptor is still making dolls. Your boy is gorgeous and I can't wait to see him with a faceup. Art-tong's sculpts always have a particular charm, and Dolce is no exception.
Do the new heads still have a faceplate or have they switched to headcaps? My Flowne (1/4) has a headcap, which I WAY prefer over the faceplate system Kassia (1/3) uses.

And I don't know about the color, both times when I bought from DiM (c. 2017) they only had 1 resin option :o
Though if I base myself off this image and my ASD white skin dolls, I'm gonna guess they're NS. Do you know if the dolls are still being cast by the same company who did DIM's dolls?

    18. Lol you and me both- I love that she is still sculpting and she has quite an array of bisque dolls she does too (also very unique and adorable!). I agree, her sculpts have such a charm, I always liked her older sculpts like Eunbi and Danbi and was sad when i missed out on Bbjorn! lol I totally forgot DIM did faceplate! No Dolce is head cap and I think the other sculpt that she has for sale is as well (you can always message KyungSun on her etsy, she always responds quickly!)
O the pic you linked does look like normal skin- i love how pinky and glowy it looks compared to the other resins. Kyungsun said her white skin is close to the Dreaming doll pink white skin but I'm not really fan of their bodies, so I'm going to experiment with other companies.
I don't know if its being cast by the same company- I had a Kassia i think 2012/13 and I remember them being very "toothy" i think would be the best description? Like more textured then some other bjd companies. I don't get that kind of feel from Dolce, I feel the resin is smoother I think.

    19. Oh, thanks for this info bout the sculptor! I love DIM sculpts so much, it was hard to pick which ones to buy when they announced they were going out of business. I'll keep an eye on her work in case I need any new ones.

    21. Wow that is a beautiful face-up @krystina ! :D Some people have amazing talent.

    22. Thank you @suruni Yes I agree- I wish I can paint like this :XD:

    23. [IMG]
Here he is :D I don't have a name for him yet and I'm still hunting for a body for him. Right now he's borrowing a Peakswoods NS body - the match is not bad in pictures. Peakswoods is a little more yellow and Arttong is a little more pinky and pale. I love his face so much- I can't stop starring at him :love

I tried a short wig. I think I like the shoulder length wigs on him more - I plan to get a different style and color.

    25. Wow! Beautiful! Which sculpt is he?

    26. He’s a Dolce sculpt :3nodding: I ordered him through Arttong’s Etsy- there doesn’t seem to be any left right now, just her other SD Shine-but you can ask the sculptor (JunKyungSun) when she’ll restock.

    27. I just love Dimdoll so much, I’m so saddened by their closure. I would love to revive this thread. Anyone want to join in please do, I’d love to see photos and descriptions, and hear your thoughts on them closing shop.

    28. Bumping to see more Dimdolls..... ;)

    29. I have three! I must post some pictures - I love these dolls and I am very sad that they closed. But I own a DIM doll body and I can see why they struggled.

    30. @mydaffer yes I wish they were still around or it would be awesome if they sold/give their molds to another company (like CustomHouse did to Luts). I would love DIM sculpts on updated resin :D. I’d want Terrence, BBjorn, and one of their really old sculpts, Eunbi :love

@Fachtna please share your DIM beauties :XD:

    31. I just got Terrence, wanted him forever! I’ll post him once he is complete. :) I am a big Dimdoll lover and have many. I sadly sold Flora and Fantasia, but they went to really good homes.

    32. What Dimdoll body? I have many and love them so much.

    33. OMG!! Congrats :D:D:DYes please, show him off!! Show off all your DIM :chibi

On another note, I just got my white skinned Arttong Dolce back (I didn't think I would). I sent that sculpt to a faceup artist on Instagram and they ghosted me once it got to China. It stayed at the Chinese post facility for a few months apparently before they sent it back to me a few weeks ago. In the meantime- thinking I wouldn't get my Dolce sculpt back I purchased another one (I think the last one) in normal skin. So now I have two Dolces :love I'm looking to get the WS faced up (not sure who yet) and I'm not sure if I'll keep both or one but I plan to post pics side by side when the WS is faced up:celebrate

Thought I'd share another photo of my Dolce (still no name). Just the cutest face - I still have no body for him or new wig and clothes

    35. Such a lovely face up for him! :)

I’ll see about posting my Dimdolls. I don’t have enough bodies so a few are floaters. I am waiting for a body for one of my sd girls. It’s not a dim body and it’s used but I don’t mind.

    36. Body hunting is so tough - what body you getting for your girl?

    37. I have the old Dimdoll sd and the newer dimdoll sd, but I have to switch them between 4 heads. A Mirodoll sd small chest 60cm body came up on the mp so I bought it, hope it works. :) I can post it once I get it but It hasn’t been shipped yet and it’s overseas so it might be awhile.

    40. Omg look at all your DIM girls :D I love their faceups and outfits so much- that group shot is fantastic :blush They just all look so sweet. Makes me want to go out and find some more DIM to add to my collection :chibi thank you for sharing your girls @mydaffer- can’t wait to see your completed Terrence in your group.

    41. You’re welcome, so happy you like them. My favorite company, gone. So sad, wished I had more..... lol

    42. Blast from the past :aheartbea forgot how appealing the DIM sculpts are (mainly as I was so focused at the time on MNMs) and then they folded :huh?:

BTW, recently bought an old DIM love male body first version and had forgotten how sway backed it was which makes it awkwardto standand looks wrong.
Could anyone point me in the direction of any guidance on how to modify the body? Someone posted this ages ago, maybe here or on their blog and cannot find it. Thank you :abow:

    43. I recently bought the same body and I took it apart, cleaned it and removed the old hot glue and reapplied. He’s strung perfectly. I don’t seem to have an issue, I can post photo’s later tonight if you want me too?

    44. That would be great, thank you :) over a decade ago I bought a 'MNM' body from DIM (which had sway back) for my MNM heads but the heads were so large I sold the body... forgot about this ;) think someone made a slight ridge in milliput at the back for the chest piece to rest on but if I can get the same result with hot glue (and perhaps a different stringing method, even better ;) )

      • x 1
    45. I can't get a good picture of the glue but I put it in all the joints and heavy in the mid section only and it works really well. He is strung arms, and his body is straight up and down from neck to legs. So the elastic runs from the neck to the left leg back to neck and back down to right leg. Here are pictures with him posing and standing with ease.

First photo is forward straight, second is straight up and down, third is forward straight front, and last is forward sideways to the left. Hope this helps. Hot glue really helps a lot.

    46. @mydaffer many thanks for the photos, sold on the hot glue usage, just need to locate the cool hot glue gun, always seem to locate the hot hot glue when I don't want to use it ;)

      • x 1
    47. lol, that’s me the other day. I bought a brand new hot glue gun this summer and I seen it like two weeks ago, but when I needed it, I couldn’t find it for the longest time. That’s bad....

    48. It's a miracle, just located the cool melt gun and sticks! Neighbours pomeranian and kids are so noisy though, may nip out for an hour to have a breather from them :sweat

Wished I managed to get the love v2 body, much better design (but this one was so cheap, patchy yellowing aside ;) ), ah why was this sculpted with such a sway back, lol.

    49. I didn’t even realize it did that, lol. He was glued when I got him and I reglued him before putting him together. I really like the body, it’s chunky and not overly muscular. What head are you using for him? I have Dim Terrance but am in the process of painting him. He’s head is so pink, I’m having to use pastels to yellow it to match a bit better. I don’t mind, I wanted Terrence forever and wished I’d bought him when he was available. Timing I guess wasn’t on my side and back them I didn’t do well with boy dolls.

    50. Mine must be normal skin and yours is white skin?

    51. I am appreciating the body aesthetic more now than I used to 10-13 years ago tbh, then I needed larger bodies (for larger heads) and was completely enamoured on Dollstown ;)

And do appreciate the slouch alot, if you can get it to stay.

This is a very patchy yellowed white resin, previous owner(s) must have had him on a windowsill in a t-shirt for years :(
And DIM white or the very pale MNM normal ages badly, easily yellows.

    52. Oh, and your head query segues nicely into a query I have ;)

Can anyone identify this sculpt? I thought it was a Archernar at first.. and did wonder if the eyes and nose had been modded. Any thoughts?
(Please ignore the partially removed faceup, the varnish is welded on due to the age).

    53. I guess I needed white not normal but I grabbed it when I seen it not thinking. In the photo, yours doesn’t look bad. I assume mine was sanded as I don’t see seam lines. When he’s all together I’d love to see him. :)

    54. I’m not sure who he is but love his nose. Sadly with dim closed it’s hard to do research on their sculpts but I will research him today and see what I come up with! :) I love research.....

      • x 1
    55. @mydaffer thank you :) I did work my way through the male love sculpts in the DOA wiki but no joy, and is hard to find good clearly labelled pictures of old sculpts...

The yellowing of the white resin looks worse under artificial lights, like the flash... there is a good tutorial (under tutorials ;) ) using rit dye to pinken yellowed resin if you want to try that route? If you have seam lines you may wish to check if there is any other sanding which would impact the dying though.

The white resin with flash... you can see the impact of exposure to sunlight in these...

    56. Oh he’s uneven. I so far think Danbi for your head?

I was thinking of dying him but I don’t have success with dolls that are sanded and well I don’t have success at all. lol I tried once and it was not fun getting the dye off.

    57. /threads/itachi-doll-xd-dim-danbi.139280/ ????

    58. /search/4314516/?searchform=1&q=Dim+danbi&o=relevance

I searched here an see a bunch of him. If it’s not Danbi it’s so close in my opinion.

    59. He looks more like an older version of Danbi to be honest, the lips are the same, eyes very similar but the cheeks on Daniel are plump and the nose shape is wider, and the way the nostrils are the nose couldn't be altered without reconstruction...
