Hi all, and sorry for my rusty english.
But hey! I just ordered my first dim bjd! I thought that I had missed my change to get one, so I was super happy for this last order period. I did order a Bellosse half closed eyes head and the new body.

Does anyone have any picks of the body? I just wonder how it poses, and I'm super bad at finding anything within this forum.

I'm kinda exited about this doll. She is my first female vampire character and finally I can put all the pinkish/clittery dollydreams together and do something over cute!

 

Oh oh, I just got my Bellosse head delivered yesterday (from the August sale) and ordered the Love body kit assuming they would automatically fit....If they don't, I wonder if they will let me cancel the order?

 

Why wouldn't it fit? Bellosse is a Love doll so I don't see why she wouldn't fit on the Love body.

@Kymera Thanks for the info that helps! IpleWhite is a pale pink actually so sometimes white ain't white.

 

The shape of the hole in the head and the neck are not the same. DiM updated the body, but apparently not the heads. it takes some sanding but shouldn't be any problems.

 

@hannaliten Thanks. How bizarre and kinda lame. But at the price.....

 

Why dont you just sand the neck? it would be more easy than finding some other body with good resin match. And there is the change that you would haveto sand some neck anyway, it would be a miracle to find a body with perfect neck randomly.

 

And it seems like the neck is too thick for even the new heads... Just looked up some picks of it from Instagram.

 

I'd be sooooo afraid of something like that....but.....I need to send her out for a face-up so maybe I can find someone who can also assemble and modify the body to the head. Thanks.

 

Sanding is easy, you just need very smooth sand paper that works with water. Its slow to sand like that, but when you work slowly you wont make any mistakes.

 

Just make sure to wear a mask and goggles though. Safety first!

Does anyone know of any company that has bodies to match the old dim pink/normal skin tone? My flora eventually needs a body but unsure where to look to find one to match? Thank you in advance for any advice you can give me

 

Dollzone used to be a near perfect match. They recently changed their resin though, I'm not sure if it matches now. But, if you find an older body it should work.

 

I just checked my e-mail and I got my shipping confirmation from DiM! I'm so happy! I ordered the Bellosse head (and another Happy head) and I cannot wait to get her. She was one of the first dolls I ever looked at and fell in love with. Also, I'm so glad to see so much love for this sculpt in this thread!

 

Bellosse is one of my first SD-size dreamdolls too. Lets hope that yours get home fast so we can have more picks.

 

A note on that one: getting an older DZ normal pink skin body is not the sollution: Dollzone had different normal pink skins, some where almost white, others pretty pink. Another thing to know: Dollzone yellows to a darker tone, while my DIMs have mellowed to an almost creme white tone... So an older DZ will probably not match that well.

Normal pink skin from RS more or less match when new, but that one also yellows to a darker tone, but slowly, more slowly than my Dollzone dolls have.

I am curious about the new Dollzone normal pink skin - how that matches. Not sure if it is out there yet, though?

Congrats, hope they arrive soon! ^^ I've always been a fan of Bellosse too though I did fell in love with Marcellina even more when she was released so I'm super excited to finally get her. I also got my shipping notice on my Marcellina head, I definitely wasn't expecting it so soon, I only ordered 10 days ago! :O I'm still unsure which body to get her... Making hybrids is always so hard!

 

@suruni Same! I need to go back through this thread and see what works best for them. I've been meaning to, actually. I was personally thinking Mirodoll, but the default bust size is too big for me. I'll look into it! lol

 

No problem! Do you still have your Iplehouse White? I'd be interested to know how similar it is to the DIM pink, when you get your girl.

 

I have the head but sold the body. I can plop it on when I get the doll.

 

I have Iple normal and it looks close to DiM pink in artificial light. I'll re-check in natural light for you tomorrow if you'd like

 

I concur - Iplehouse normal is close to DiM pink. DiM pink is maybe a bit lighter (at least in artificial light), but both colors seem to have exactly the same amount of yellow/pink.

I got my Lestia's head yesterday and I'm trying to figure out what body would fit - it's my first SD doll and I'm out of my depth (more than usual).
Is there a chance that Dollstown 13yrs body would be a good choice? Does anyone have experience with that combination?

 

I'm in the same boat - shopping for a body for my Lestia. I'm looking at bodies in the 62-65cm range. I tried her head on my Loongsoul 58cm girl body. It looks OK, but I think she could definitely pull off a larger body.

 

I bought a Gayanne head for my GSE body and love it but I recently tried her on my DZ boy body and now I love her as a boy! So I ordered two happy Annabeth heads - one for my GSE body and one for another DZ boy body that I have. I want to have boy/girl fraternal Twins. I just hope Annabeth fits the GSE.

Does anyone know if sweet ARIA will fit a SD body? Thanks.

I tried my Love Leonora head on my Aimerai body and the fit is excellent but the resin of the body has a yellow cast to it. It's not bad enough to be really objectionable but it is noticeable. I'd probably have Leonora wear scarves or clothing with high collars.

I used to have a dollstown 13 yo body and I believe that Leonora would fit the body. Her head is on the large size and way too big for the Dollzone Minas body. But, to be honest, I didn't like how the dollstown body looked. It felt thick compared to my other SDs and it wasn't great at posing. I wonder how the girls 17 yo body is? But then I tend to like dolls that have a willowy, dancer like appearance..

 

I picked up my Marcellina head from the post office today! She's perfect! I think her head might be a little bigger than any of my other SD girl head. She doesn't have a body yet but I'll be sure to post pics in this thread at some point when she is ready to be introduced. ^_^

Lestia does kind of have a huge head. Mine is on the Mirodoll 70cm girl body, so she would probably be in proportion with the dollstown 17/18 years bodies.

For some time I've been seriously considering purchasing Only-Doll bigger SD body for her. Judging by the measurements and company photos - it's not overly slim nor sturdy and with 66 cm of height it should balance her supposedly big head. Also, if really OD/AOD/DL all have similar/same resin, the color match is within an acceptable range. Now though, I'm not so sure (the lack of owner photos doesn't help) and maybe I need to research more and consider different options.

Soo... now that I know that 17yrs body exists (I have nothing in my defence!) and is available, I'm moving it to the top 3 of my list. Actually, just judging by the photos, it's much closer to what I envisioned than the 13yrs body anyway. Thanks!

 

I haven't seen a dollstown 17/18 yr old body in person but I really like the pictures of it and might consider it for my Leonora. I'd like to follow your progress in finding a body for your Lestia, Anemeijereja!

@Pony , that's actually very helpful! I think I know what you mean - the whole silhuette appears pretty short (not very defined waist etc.) and might not be the best choice for a big head. So far I like 17yrs one the most, because others look like belonging to someone who could do me physical harm!

No matter what I decide, I'll try to take photos of the final result. This hybridization business is more difficult than I expected!

I got my DiM order a couple of days ago, but I've been so busy with school and preparing for finals that I haven't had time to come through this thread and mention it! The Bellosse sculpt is more stunning in person! I really love her. She's got such a huge head so I'm glad to see body comparisons with some of their other girls because I was hoping it wouldn't look to out of proportion! lol

Also, as I was looking at her headcap, I noticed the writing on the inside. Since I can kinda read Korean, I noticed that the head piece said Bellosse and the neck piece said Kassia. I'm not sure if this is normal since they're about the same sculpt, but I thought it was interesting to note since my Bellosse has a little bit of gapping between the head piece and the neck piece. Does anyone else have this issue? I'll probably just go ahead and sand away some of the resin in her head piece by the ear since I think that might fix it.

 

@ARoseForMary I have both Bellosse and Kassia and their head backs are not identical so I have to keep them apart.

 

Uh-oh! That doesn't look right.

 

ARoseForMary my Bellosse's headback fits flush without any gapping. I'm sure DIM will send you the correct one if you let them know.

I love Bellosse so much as a brunette^^. I can't seem to get her out of this SD13 outfit, the underdress is too small across the back, but you can't see that it doesn't do up so not a problem. Has anyone else tried different clothing sizes for the Love body? I am thinking SD16 might work?

 

My 2 girls are on the Love body and they wear sd16 clothes.

I'm leaning towards the Xagadoll 65cm or Asleep Eidolon 60 or 65cm bodies. the other option I'm considering is the Impldoll 64cm girl body, since IIRC, they do free color matching on the larger bodies.

@dollhausen that's the body kit I got too. I strung mine, so if you have any probs I'd be glad to help I found her pretty standard to string, just those looong legs got a bit unwieldy at times. Good luck!

 

Just received my kit too! I tried to string her and... is it normal she only comes with 3 hooks?

 

mine came with 3 too. the elastic does go through the open loop at the feet - I needed to make it thinner by pulling it taut though. might be easier to just add a hook.

 

Does anyone know if the love body is similar in style to the Msd GSE Body?

 

What @ATYL said. As long as you pull the elastic tight you should be able to get the feet on. Another pair of helper hands come in useful

 

Hi everyone, I just received my last order from DIM. Everything was there and it arrived safely, but I was sad because DiM is not available now. Does anyone know where their wonderful artist who did the sculpts is going or what she may be up to? Thanks!

 

@Pony I've heard speculation on DoA from someone who said they know the sculptor that they were going to focus on some other project, not the dolls. There was no documentation of the information from the actual sculptor, so take it with a grain of salt, but it's probably best to assume that this could be the end of Doll in Mind for a while. Of course, it's nice to be wrong.

So, lots of us ordered from the recent sales events, right? I would love to see what everyone's done with their dolls! I was pretty annoyed with the Love Body for a while, but I took it apart and tried to modify joint shapes so she could sit up better and surprisingly, even though I extended the elastic channels in the thigh and modified the hip socket shape I'm not really sure it made much difference for better or worse! Maybe a little better. Eh, I'll leave my girl this way for now and enjoy her for what she is.

But in other news, today I finally got a body for my ancient Doll in Mind Lloyd head. I'm so happy with the way she looks on this XM body!

I think I just found Marcellina a brother ... but a bunch of others from my "someday" list are about to be discontinued so wrench in the plans again.

This is how my "big girls" look like right now ... both still need work (Lestia needs violet eyebrows and lashes! Where can I even get that?") but they're coming along.

 

@Jany Well, I've seen violet eyelashes at For my Doll, Dollmore, Denver Doll Emporium, and maybe a few other places I can't remember. I hope that's helpful!
It's nice to see your big girls together. Like you I have one of the big headed ones and one of the small headed ones at home. In that way I think they hardly look like dolls from the same company.

@Osaka It's so frustrating having to pick and choose between things being discontinued (or otherwise limited) Rain is so lovely though, and I hope they can get their body! Are you planning a girl or a boy?

Fun thing is, their heads aren't even that different in size, it's mostly the shape:

Lestia's beanie helps camouflage her big noggin, while Marcellina's stopgap of a wig came out a bit short in front so it emphasizes how small her face is compared to the whole head. But you're right, they don't have as much of a "family resemblance" as, say, Iples or Granados.

 

Woah @Jany -- that's an impressive illusion! Now I should take a picture of my two, because they actually are vastly different sizes (almost 10 inch and barely 8 inch). I think it's actually nice to see diversity in a company. Sometimes I feel companies are a little too consistent and the look just feels stale. Especially when you consider the long time Doll in Mind was in business, it's only normal to see an evolution of style.

I'm still waiting for a body for my Marcellina head but definitely show her here when she's complete! I'm always unsure about my hybrid experiments... I still need eyes and a wig for her too but her background story and personality has been on my mind even before I ordered her so she's definitely a strong character among my dolls.

 

@AlisonVonderland -- I'm just lucky to not be in love with any spring events this year! I got my Rain head from the limited fullset (oh wow has it really been ten years?!) ages ago, with the "real" extra head, and I knew from the start she was going to be a girl. Right now she's the oldest head in the head box, still with her default faceup. I want the NS13 girl body for her, and she's going to be Ayumu Kasuga (aka Osaka) from Azumanga Daioh. ^-^ It's been so hard to find the right match of resin color, height, and neck thickness, and now that I have found a perfect match, it's almost too late.

 

AlisonVonderland, I think sharing our latest dim sculpts is a great idea. I'm waiting for my DZ snow body to come in. I hope it will fit my Hamish. I'll be sure to post photos when it arrives. Until then I will absolutely enjoy seeing ev Rhine elses dolls like your Lloyd and Jany's Marcellina and Lestia. I need a body for my Leonora and now I'd like to get a love body for her. The search begins!

 

@Pony I feel like Hamish must be really uncommon. At least, I noticed when he was first added to the website with Leif but I feel like he sold out really quickly. I hope your incoming Dollzone body works out!

I need to make a black shirt for my Anneliese to wear with the cool gothic pixie kind of skirt I just made her and then maybe I'll have a new picture to contribute. I have that terrible lukewarm feeling about Anneliese, and wonder if I would have been happier with someone else, but I'm not giving up on her yet! That sale event was brutal. I felt like I was just choosing at random because there were so many sculpts I found equally appealing.

That's awesome @Osaka It's great to have finally found the right body! I hope you're able to snatch it up before it's gone.

@suruni Well, the company specific discussion threads are usually a great place to ask others about your hybrid ideas. Everyone is usually really happy to offer first hand advice about resin colors and proportions if they are able. When I'm beginning to feel frazzled I always ask others for advice. Marcellina is so lovely. I can't wait to see her!
