Hey guys,

Sorry if this is a noobish question, I'm considering getting a DF-H Edwin but was wondering if I could get him on 65cm body? His head is like a tiny bit bigger than standard 21cm. I believe he comes in at 22.5? Would his head look odd on the smaller body?

I want him a bit smaller because I think he would look strange towering over Faith who is just 58cm but 65 would have just the right amount of loom. (Shrug)

Hi, I wondered if anyone had this body? Doll Parts, Doll Family - BJD, BJD Doll, Ball Jointed Dolls - Alice's Collections
I'm thinking of getting it for a huge artist head I have, but would love if anyone could show me pictures/tell me about their experience!

 

Anyone able to weigh in on Doll Family H's normal skin yellow and pink skins vs Harucasting's Volks?

Contemplating a hybrid - but realised I've only got an example of DFH's normal yellow to hand - which is a fair match, nothing a little blushing wouldn't correct but the Harucasting Volks definitely has pinky tones to it.

 

I can weigh in on the normal pink, it's much like Impldoll normal pink. Very light in color. I can also report, having played with my 63cm female body that it's a great poser and I really like it

 

hello anyone did a hybrdi with switch rosy white skin with dfh white skin? is it a good match?

 

I don't think it is! I own a rosy pink head and the color is pretty similar to other resins I have that are normal pinks (I have DFH normal pink tho and it's a little darker and more pink than Switch rosy pink). It's actually pretty similar to 2DDoll normal pink, even if a little lighter in shade.

 

Thanks! Actually, double-thanks - that's the exact body I was considering too! Sounds like I should go for the Normal Yellow then - Impldoll pink skin is pretty pale in comparison to the Volks-ish tone of this head. (I'm totally doing an another annoying hybrid, of the Little Rebel Andre sculpt is generally considered male, and on the larger side of the 8-9" range - the 63cm girl is mostly being considered for her relatively broad shoulders...)

Really pleased to hear it's a good poser too! The character this doll should be shelling (this is like my 2nd and a half attempt to shell her lmao) is a bit of a cheeky youngster who hangs out with Amanda (Rainman Kira) wanting to join her elder in her thieving escapades and a fashion victim/flighty hair decisions/convenient clotheshorse type (aka, gets all the clothes and wigs the other dolls don't want/can't wear)

 

@Vetinari So, I happen to have Little Rebel Andre and the DF-H 63 cm girl body, and could put together a hybrid for you, if that would be helpful to see. My initial guess is that the proportions might be unbalanced, as Andre is a fairly big head, but it's largely a matter of personal preference so of course take my opinions with a grain of salt. Have you considered a bigger female body like Iplehouse EID or HID, or Impldoll starwoman 65 cm or idol 68 cm? I have the idol woman body and could put that hybrid together as well, so that you can compare proportions between that hybrid and the DF-H body hybrid and see what you like and don't like. Gah yeah I'm a bit too used to this struggle - I've got actually got several larger/taller girls in my group (including on the broader-shouldered front, an Impldoll Idol girl, a Dollshe 26f, and the seemingly vanishingly unpopular 5StarDoll Superstar girl body which I think, single joints included, is an absolutely wonderfully sculpted body). Mostly due to my horrible horrible habit of hybriding sculpts that the sculptor intended to be male onto female bodies. Two of my taller ladies have heads in the 9-10" range who I just barely managed to get bodies they looked roughly proportional on (the Dollshe 26F/Dollstown hybrid and my 5Stardoll lady), they tend not to get photographed standing near the others! (Especially the extremely petite Rainman ladies...) I specifically wanted someone who was short-ish, and the 13.5cm shoulders on the DF-H lady seemed like they might be wide enough to get away with? The Dollshe 26F mostly works with the exceedingly large Dollstown head, and the 14.5cm shoulder measurement always felt a slightly generous estimate of their width.

 

@Vetinari Ah, so you're specifically looking for a smaller build for that character, makes perfect sense! (Your collection of large ladies sounds amazing, by the way ) I should be able to take some photos of the hybrid within the next few days and I'll tag you when they're posted. I'll also take some measurements to confirm accurate shoulder width and neck circumference of the DF-H body. If there are any other measurements you're interested in, just let me know and I can get those numbers for you as well

 

@Gamine Thank you again! Yeah I'm mostly focussed on how the head will look wrt the shoulders, even some neck gapping wouldn't really be the end of the world (both my female Dollshe Bernard and female Dollshe Saint inevitably deal with that issue due to their large head-socket to neck size - in some ways I think it actually helps posing).

I'm sort of planning on the medium bust for this girl, with the knowledge that though she'll be shorter than most of the other girls in my group, with those shoulders she'll probably end up stealing a lot of the taller/larger girls clothes rather than anything from the shorter ladies. (I think size-wise she'll be most in line with my Dollstown 17F girls/Spiritdoll Proud lady - and they've all got very different styles.) I'm vaguely hoping to give her a slightly punky face-up that'll look (semi) decent with a range of hair colours/styles, so I'm hoping she'll be able to do similar on the borrowing clothes front! Since, the character is very much a cheeky younger sibling who 'borrows' outfits and never gives them back type.

 

I'm not great at posing, but I did do a few poses which you can see here.

 

Thanks for the photos! Looks like she's a fabulous poser/a body to earmark even if she doesn't work out for this hybrid. (July (if I'm identifying her correctly) is a relatively large head too if I'm remembering right?)

 

@Vetinari , not really, I think I have a size 7/8 wig on her, and she is a lot like my Impldoll heads, but smaller than Fairyland's F60 or F85 "traditional SD" sized heads. But she does have a larger neck socket for the bigger necks (but some bodies like Iplehouse would still need adjustment as their neck posts are mushroomed out a bit (bigger)

 

I wonder if anyone has tried to hybrid a Switch head on the 62 male body yet? I was thinking of it for my Huisa.D and Ajeong.C... I think my worry is that they might look bobble headed. Wondering if anyone has owner pics of the 62cm body in general? Would love to see more photos of it!

 

@myuupi I don't have the DF-H 62cm body but I have other bodies in that size range. Huisa.D could possible work because of his younger looking features. And Switch does mention that he's compatible with their 60cm body, so perhaps comparing measurements between the two could give you an idea of it it'll work.

As for Ajeong.C, I own one and personally I don't think he looks good on anything smaller then 65cm. I'm even thinking of putting mine on a 68cm body.

Hey everyone! Apologies if this has been asked before, but I noticed DF-H has the option of 'imported' vs. local resin and I was curious if anyone has had the opportunity to compare the two.

I really love their sculpts- I don't think I've ever seen such a wonderful array of body-types! I am however curious about this option and wanted to gather some opinions.

 

Generally, what some people call imported resin, others call French or special UV and it has a slight translucent quality.

 

Hi! I'm new to DF-H myself and was also wondering about this. I saw someone saying they were buying the Xiao Chan and I was immediately smitten! But if the "imported" is a French/transparent resin, that will be a no for me then and I will just stick with their local/Chinese resin. I bought my mom her first BJD years ago which is a Limhwa Luna in the pinky French resin. I warned her it was probably going to yellow, and quicker than most dolls, but she understood and that's what she wanted. It has yellowed pretty bad, so French/transparent resin aren't really for me.

 

the imported resin isn’t French resin, it’s anti-uv yellowing resistant resin. Kind of like Dollshe honey skin, some companies add a color stabilizer to their resins which makes them less likely to yellow. According to Dollshe, it requires a certain transparency in the resin (perhaps it’s a clear additive that diluted the opacity, I don’t know) (Impldoll does it as well.)

I am actually not familiar with any company that sells French resin now. EOSdoll has since bought Limhwa, and I haven’t seen it in their offerings either (although I haven’t been to their website recently, only Junkyspot)

 

@Vetinari Okay, I finally made time to put together the hybrid that you requested! Thank you for being so patient, I'm sorry to have kept you waiting Here is Little Rebel Andre (head circumference 22.5 cm) on the DF-H 63 cm girl body with small bust.

Body neck circumference is 9 cm (9.3 cm official), shoulder width is approx 13 cm including arms (13.5 cm official). I am measuring "flat"/2-dimensional width of the shoulder span, not wrapping tape measure around to the outside of the arms, so that might account for the small difference between my measurements and the official ones.

Neck mobility is mediocre and would probably benefit from a custom neck donut or sueding.

IMHO, this head would benefit from broader shoulders and a more substantial neck. Waist (17.5 cm!!) is also very tiny in proportion to the head. You could potentially offset these issues with fashion choices if desired.

And for comparison, here is the DF-H 63 cm body with Impldoll Alma, head circumference 19.5 cm (official measurements 21.5 cm are wildly erroneous; I have contacted Impldoll about this discrepancy in the past and they politely shrugged off my concerns). Shown with Little Rebel Andre on 2D Doll 68 cm v2 body, neck circumference 10.5 cm at base and 10 cm at top (10 cm official measurements); shoulder width approx 16 cm including arms (16.5 cm official measurements). Head mobility for Andre on the 2D Doll body is excellent.

Aha! Thank you hugely @Gamine! That's incredibly useful - hrmm, yeah agreed looks get-away-withable, but not ideal. The body is gloriously vampy though, which is nice. (Ooh thanks for the 2D doll pointer - I'll have to have a looksie at that body) Hrmm - I'll have to think on it, height vs shoulder width is an annoying thing to attempt to balance.

 

@Vetinari No problem! The DF-H 63 cm girl body really is lovely, it's just surprisingly difficult to hybrid with anything other than small heads. I wonder if the Impl MGB might be a good option for your plans, it has some of the widest shoulders I've seen on a female body sculpt (I wish there were more!! I like broad-shouldered ladies ) However, 65 cm might be taller than you want, and the neck circumference is listed at 9 cm which is not ideal for Andre. I'm veering even further into off-topic for this thread, but one of the Iplehouse EID ladies should be making her way home to me within the next month or so; if you're not in a rush, I could show you that hybrid when my order arrives. Just PM me and I'll be glad to help out!

 

Thanks again! Decided to risk it, the combo doesn't look too horrific in photos, and I do own a couple of dolls in my collection that tend towards bobbleheaded by default from the company. Odds are if this otherwise gorgeous body doesn't work out, and I hate the hybrid in person, I'll end up falling for another random sculpt at some not-so-distant point down the line anyway... And the 63cm body does look stunning. (I do have a horrible tendency towards picking up artists headsculpts then desperately searching for bodies afterwards!)

(Gah yeah the Impl broad shouldered girl, I have been eyeing up, but more to an eye with yet another off-topic for this thread sculpt lmao. Ooh I'd be very grateful for your opinion on the EID when the time comes! Though I suspect if I do take the plunge into Iple's selection, and their infamously non-posey bodies, I'd be doing it for one of their gorgeous headsculpts and wouldn't be attempting a hybrid)

Figured since I'm finally getting my boy "Janus" (Xiao Xin head on the version 5 body) put together I should join this thread. He's currently without a face and wig of his own (its in the works) but he's gotten 2outfits that I can mix and match pieces from, one pair of boots and two pairs of boxer shorts.
If anyone here has a Xiao Xin with face up I'd love to see it.
Anyway, here's "Janus" rocking his second outfit and one of my Resinsoul Mi Marjorie's wigs.

Does anyone have one of the new 72cm type 3 bodies yet? I haven't even found owner photos of them on Weibo yet so I'm wondering if they just haven't shipped yet I thought they'd been out for a while though, and I'm really curious about how they perform!

(And how shiny they are lol, I'm not sure if I'm up for full-body sanding a 72cm doll. In owner pics it looks like shine level varies, so either the bodies are coated or they're from pulls later in the mold's lifeline?)

 

I don't own any of the new bodies, but for the shine level of the resin, I own a normal pink 68cm doll and I can say it is the shiniest resin I own. Mostly, the shine is visible in places that rubs a lot, like the joints. It's not super shiny, but still you can notice it.

 

Thanks! I'm guessing I'm gonna have to sand or coat it if I get it. I'd never seen shiny bodies before until I got a Spiritdoll body, and I've noticed that a lot of similar companies have shiny resin too T_T

 

Thanks! I finished his first wig yesterday aside from styling and maybe a bit of trimming here and there. Already planning another wig I want to try making but this one will work for now. Still need to try and work on a face-up before the cold weather hits but seeing as his heads been waiting since 2019 already I'm not in too big of a rush.

 

looking good there too @TwistedRiver , I think faux fur wigs look best trimmed unless it's supposed to be a messy/spiky look, but the problem is, you can easily screw it up so I can't blame you if you keep it "natural" LOL

 

Actually it looks fur but it's a yarn wig though I should go after it again with my straightener even if I don't decide to trim it any. I do want to figure out something for it later so it's technically still a work in progress. lol

 

I have a 75cm body in the making so if no one beats me to it I can post measurments when it arrives. I ordered in the middle of august so it ca nbe a while. I got it for my Soom garion head in Tawny skin so I hope they managed to make a decent color match. But I have seen a hybrid like this before and it looked good.

I will get jointed 75cm hands with the body I mentioned in the previous quote, and I have the Loong sould 73cm body -> Doll Parts, Loong Soul - BJD, BJD Doll, Ball Jointed Dolls - Alice's Collections
So I could try them on to see if they fits. I don't know when it arrives though so it can take a while.

 

Wow! I never thought anyone would actually respond, so I went and asked the awesome people at Alice's Collections a thousand years ago, and they were super kind about it. They said that the neck measures as follows: Top 13.1cm, middle 13.8cm , bottom 14.3cm, in case anyone else wants to know. Thank you so much for offering nonetheless; if you still want to measure yours, to share as well, maybe for consistency sake? Those would be welcomed as well. Otherwise, feel free not to! Thanks once again for offering, you are an extremely kind soul. I wanted the body for a massive Minime sculpt, so I was hoping the neck would be overall bigger, but it is an option incase I ever feel adventurous (or have extra funds to splurge, just for fun!). I recently got an msd Chiyu and I'm having the hardest time finding pants... All the jeans I owned ended up being tight skinny jeans to him cuz of his butt/thighs/calves! I'll eventually get him custom clothes but for now I guess he'll just have to be bursting at the seams! (Where do you get pants that actually fit these guys lol)

I have had a hard time finding anything on this body so iI should contribute with more pics and info, but I often tend to forgot. Thanks! He shares a body with my Dollshe Khan now, so If it fails maybe they can swap, I need to try it anyway. x) But I have great expectations on this body, it looks really nice.

I would appreciate full frontal photos of the body if you get a chance -- that's my one pet-peeve with most BJD companies, rarely do you get any full-frontal, none-angled, or "glamour" shots of the body. It's hard to tell proportions from a photo as is, but more so when they are sitting, or turning or from an extreme angle (not to mention total darkness...lol!). I will keep my fingers crossed, that the body works for your Soom Garion. n__n

 

Oh man, sometimes it's hard! Talk to Alice's Collections, as many of their outfits can be custom made . You'll have to supply the measurements, and it's best to be thorough by giving lots of measurements.

 

Does anyone know when they will release new sculpts? Was looking at Alice collections and haven't seen any new sculpts recently.

 

@eminaanime I don't think Doll Family H has a set release schedule, but they have released several new sculpts this year throughout their different doll lines. Their last release was just last month.

 

Hello all. I have a 75cm body in normal yellow on it’s way. It’s made it to Japan. My plan is to put my NRei by rdean on it. I have lots of ID75 clothes so I hope some will fit. This is my first DF-H doll. I’m pretty excited!!

I have a question.

Does one of you already match a Sard/Dia head on DFamily-H 68cm boy body ?
Does it fit well ?

The head got a 10.5cm neck and the body got a 11cm neck.

I should have to sandpaper the body neck ?
But I don't want to ruin the body.

 

I can only access Alice's Collections through my phone. My malware scan has blocked them from my computer.

Anyway I ordered a female body from them. I'm going to put a DollShe Diana head on it for now, but may play musical heads later.

 

My order for the DF-h 75cm body is finally done and I am waiting for a tracking number, so excited to see how the color turned out.
if anyone is still interested I can post pictures when it arrives.

 

Skogstoka, I'm definitely still interested in full front, non-angled straight on shots of the nude body, if you don't mind. If you don't want to post full-nudity for whatever reason, I am just looking for proportions of the body itself, not for how well sculpted the genitals are so I don't mind if those are covered up. I would also appreciate profile shots, similarly, none-angled straight on shots. If it's not too much trouble of course. Congrats on your soon to be home, doll body. (:

I think the new body will probably be standard. There was a limit of 100 for the early bird price/special gift (we've missed that opportunity already, it was 11.11-14), but I assume it will be for sale normally like the rest of their bodies? I'm going to assume the head will be limited unless told otherwise since it's a collab.
This is super exciting, I'll have to check their weibo daily! I've been in search of a slim 65-68cm body. I don't think I like the torso joints as much as on their slim 72cm body, but I'd also prefer a shorter body, so I'll be keeping a close eye on it >w<

 

I'm....probably in trouble. I'm always looking for more slim 68cm bodies. I've already got 4 of DF-A's 68cm body. I also liked the look of DF-H's 72cm body, but like Astro I wish it was shorter (70cm would have been a better fit for me), and I'm also not a fan that the body apparently can't slouch forward.
